But, why though?
He doesn't be any name value at all to a wrestling company in 2023. He didn't bring anything to TNA in 2010, besides making an embarrassment of himself. I mean, Triple H and Shawn Michaels are his biggest fans, and basically run creative now for the company, and neither of them saw any spot for Ric Flair on their shows. And now he's even saying he's cleared to take bumps? Like, WHAT? I believe Tony Khan isn't that naive or stupid enough to let an old decrepit man bump on his television show. Right?
If he's there to be more of a backstage mentor like Jake Roberts or Paul Wight, than whatever. But you know he's going want to be out there having terrible promo's, taking away spots from the younger talent like he did in TNA. You know they're going to want to recreate the Ric Flair/Jay Lethal promo from TNA. Come on, move on from this nostalgia bullshit! Who's next? Goldberg? Kevin Nash? Hulk Hogan? An ECW reunion? Next, they'll be signing Mustafa Ali, Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Riddle. People think Drew Mcintrye might go there when his contract could potentially expire. Enough! Why Edge? Why Ric Flair? When does it end? You have an entire company of young talent who have contracts running out next year, and you sign Ric Flair? Just, why? Really, why?

Fake wrestlers I make up don't have to commit crimes or have political opinions.

There’s something darkly ironic that they announce Ric Flair being signed at the same time that Kris Statlander is calling for the women to be used more. If he has in-ring promos he's extremely likely to go over his timeslot while rambling and wooing. You know who is going to get their time cut as a result. Hell even if he doesn't any airtime he gets is going to create the perception he's taking from someone more deserving even if its not quite true in reality. That's with fans or already unhappy wrestlers, he becomes a symbol of everything that's wrong. It's all baffling.

Yea, it's not great...people are far more willing to discuss things and things are more public now...so you realize wow so many people suck. If I never watched anything because someone was on it with a bad history...I don't think I'd watch much of anything shit basically all sports have so many people with terrible histories.

Yeah, and I also think there's a 50+ crowd of wrestling fans that isn't chronically online that just sincerely doesn't know or is only vaguely aware of Flair's issues. My dad (who grew up a Crockett fan) heard about Flair coming back and texted me and when I responded that I wasn't particularly excited about him being a part of AEW and why, he was shocked. I think with Hogan, at least part of it is that his stuff led to a highly publicized multimillion dollar lawsuit so it got actual mainstream news coverage and more people are aware of it. Flair's stuff didn't get anywhere near the coverage. None of which makes it, somehow, acceptable to do business with Flair but condemn Hogan. But that's part of what's at play, I think. It highlights an ugly part of society where for a long time it was OK to be a womanizer and make people feel uncomfortable because it's "just boys being boys." I'm glad it seems most of society realizes that it's very, very wrong and that other offenders beyond Flair have been ousted from the business. Just now I was watching the Pat McAfee show simulcast on ESPN and Pat was commenting on having Hogan or Flair drip going. Even a guy like Peter Rosenberg, who I think of as being a generally stand-up guy when it comes to social issues, considers Ric a friend and gives him heartfelt birthday wishes yearly. This news has been a sad wakeup call that AEW is as much in the carny mud as the rest of the business.

You must be f***ing joking. Andrade needs a manager, not an albatross around his neck. Ric can't cut a promo, he can't take bumps and he can't get heel heat. Dude is useless as a manager.
And Charlotte signed a new contract with WWE, which ends well after Rics contract ends. Signing him in the off chance that he will still be there when Charlottes contract ends and AEW can sign her is asinine. And quite frankly, it shouldn't be her job to look after Ric.
See I haver never really understood the pairing anyway. The whole father and son in law situation is weird anyway as they do not seem to have much of a relationship or chemistry because of the situation atleast not publicly. This is just my perspective for sure but it just feels more like a pairing because of the circumstances and not something natural.
Andrade and Flair showed chemistry that time at Triplemania though

Hey I remember that... I think Flair has marginal value in limited spurts, I don't think he is completely useless, man high praise lol.

Anyone socially good enough to clean up the industry is exactly the kind of person who isn't going to spend tens of millions of dollars of their own money to do it. (First of all, they likely aren't going to even have that kind of money to begin with.)
