Can see zero reason for this beyond Tony being a mark. Awful person and he basically has absolutely nothing to contribute as a performer. Yeah, this does nothing to dissuade people of the "Tony Khan is just a mark" discourse. Even if I don't agree with the sentiment, this does come across as "I want to have RIc Flair in my company because he was so cool back in the day. Let's just ignore all the crappy elements of his life that have come up in the last 15-20 years though."

Another one for the "Tony is a mark who does stupid stuff because if it" sheet. He's as hypocritical as expected. Don't wanna hear any excuses about "at least he ain't wrestling" or "he's only there for Sting" and none of that shit. We got the Crypt Keeper here selling his "I Can't Die Yet Juice", nah I ain't wit it.
f*** outta here with that.

I wish just once one of his kids, whatever wife he's married to at the moment, or promoter he's trying to sucker would tell him "I love you, but you're 74. Please don't. Just enjoy being alive." instead of enabling the f*** out of him.
On a related note, can't wait for Conrad and Eric to shamelessly lie their asses off and talk about what a great move this is on the next 83 weeks

I wonder what he's going to offer besides AEW being able to make shitty Ric Flair t-shirts.

Well, I guess that puts to bed the notion that he was only brought in at Sting’s request for his final run.

Genuinely thought this was a troll thread, especially with the woo energy drink bit (stupid name, but believable). To find out its real.....why? They don't need him! He's barely comprehensible too, during his TNA run years ago his backstage segments had subtitles!

Ugh guess he's going to be the punk replacement albatross As big as a pain in the ass Punk ended up being, at least there were really good reasons to bring him in. For one thing, he could still actually wrestle and talk coherently. I really don't get what value Flair brings besides a nostalgia pop. And AEW already had that covered with more capable talent.

As someone who considers Ric one of his top ten favorite workers, this is a terrible, horrible signing that made me cringe when I read it and there’s now a 98% chance of a major public relations/financial disaster for TK any given day.

I guess the upside to Punk is Flair isn't likely to get into a brawl backstage without turning to dust if he's hit. On the downside the chance of sexual harassment on any given day has risen.

Yeah, growing up Ric Flair was my guy. My GOAT before that was even a thing. But christ almighty...this is just bad.

Punk was a major pain and not worth it too, but he could still wrestle pretty well and his mic work was at 100%. Ric has neither left in the tank.

If there's any silver lining to this, at least this gif can be used as the official Ric Flair Is On TV warning sign on here:

Of note, from Fightful: "The press release provided by AEW mentioned Flair's Woooooo! Energy drink. Sources close to Flair told Fightful that the deal was very similar to that of Randy Savage's to WCW in the mid 1990s, where part of getting Flair was also procuring a deal with the energy drink that would cover a significant portion, if not all of Flair's salary in All Elite Wrestling."
Fightful also suggests they see a lot of potential in action figures, merch, etc. Which, eh, maybe so, but it's still not a good look.
