Guess who's popped his head up again. Not watched myself but apparently it includes things like saying his victims have already forgiven him, still trying to put the blame on his cowriter, and that he did it because of a childhood head injury. So yeah, dude has learned nothing. LOL, I immediately went to see how people reacted in the comment section and people are having none of this. That's what I find particularly amazing about Somerton: I don't think there is anyone left to support him. Usually, even the most vile scumbags still manage to maintain at least a remnant of their fanbase that's willing to ignore what they've done, but not him. I guess he had a largely queer audience so I can imagine that most of them are not willing to forgive someone who presented themselves as one of their representatives, only to turn out to not only be a plagiarist, but to have actively screwed over other, better queer creators in the process. And the best part is that first comment I saw is calling him out for claiming that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the first slasher movie so apparently, even in an apology video, he can't help but make easily demonstrably incorrect claims about pop culture. |

The 'Dig up, stupid' nature of his responses seem to explain why he never wrote his own stuff, it's not just easier to steal, he's a manipulative, self serving arse whose instincts are to take the easy route at all times, throw others under the bus then claim victimhood when people notice. 'My poor co-writer/dead mother who did all the bad things! How dare you be mad at them because they're wholly responsible?!'
He thought he could make movies with the ease he did YouTube videos then when it turned out to be a lot of work, he could just use talking about making movies for clout and keep taking donations on platforms where he wouldn't ever have to follow through.
If he contributed anything to his video production, he should go do that. He's done as a star, but he could do the unglamorous work to make a living if he still wants to do YouTube. Unfortunately, I don't think his ego will allow it, so I expect the other grifter pivot.

For those who haven't watched, somerton among other things: within the opening minute of it was self-pitying himself rather than focusing on anything he'd done, made numerous unverifiable claims (like that people stalked him and he reported that shit to the police) that he then admitted he would not be veryfying anyway, put shitloads of blame on his co-writer, used his co-writer as a 'my best friend is black' defense over his issues with transpeople in his writing, blamed a historic head injury for being a plagiarist, said he had to make a movie because his dying mother told him to, got defensive about the plot of a movie he was writing that nobody had ever seen so couldn't have known he wasn't plagiarising that one specific bit, said he felt obligated to produce more content in order to be the standard bearer of queerness on YouTube because of how much he was successful in the algorithm compared to smaller creators
