It's not even a "generation" thing, as people of all ages are going it, but every freaking week there is a report in the sheets about how the locker room is unhappy and someone posts something on their social media. Like holy hell, I am sorry TK does not want to make someone who either is still green, or a 50+ year old the focal point of the show.
Christian, MJF, Darby, OC, Toni Storm and many others have proven that if you are good and interesting enough, you can earn more TV time.
Here is the thing, the people you see most on TV, are the ones selling the most merch and getting the most TV time.
Like, many of the people complaining have had significant pushes and it did not amount to higher t-shirt sales, a ratings bump, or high social media views.
I am sure there are a few exceptions to this, but I really can't say that most of the people complaining and using the dirt sheets as venting tools are the ones who most people want to see.

Tony needs a strict social media clause that even he has to follow

Tony needs a strict social media clause that even he has to follow That I absolutely agree with. "Don't shit on the company on X" really isn't asking too much, or being unreasonable. I get it, I've made that mistake in the past, I got pissed off at my job and buried them on Facebook, and they (rightfully) wouldn't let me rescind my resignation even tho the post was only live for about an hour. Sometimes you wanna just scream at the top of your lungs to anyone who will listen about your job, doesn't make it acceptable or a good f***ing idea

It happens in every wrestling company that lets talent say what they want online whether it's AEW or WWE or Impact (shit idk, I don't watch Impact). It's just part of the gig. Some wrestlers have legit complaints, others don't and are just whining, that's what happens.

“If there’s a problem, come to me, don’t post it online” should be a golden rule for Tony, but it clearly isn’t.

Walk into any workplace in any line of business in the world and there will be people unhappy and complaining. That's just people.
I do agree that AEW should have a better media policy though to stop those gripes becoming as public as they are. Or at least some media training so that people can still express that they want more without it coming across like whinging.

It's a double edged sword of allowing and soliciting talent to, God, I hate this phrase, but I'll use it here; "Grab the brass ring". So, you have all these people trying to get themselves over or figure out how to, and unfortunately, some of them only know, or feel like they are left with now resort; to sit a kvetch online.

People are perpetually online these days, so it’s not surprising that we hear about complaints. Wrestlers have always had these complaints, you just wouldn’t usually hear them until they left the company and did a shoot interview. Now you get it in real-time.

To me you can complain behind closed doors about any kind of job. Don't put them on blast publicly because that will bite you in the ass. No matter how much social media supports your stance its not gonna pay the bills. Move in silence and just wait out the end of your contract or keep pitching ideas.

Not even getting into the other aspects of this discussion, but this sentence is just absolute nonsense. Wrestling is not a meritocracy and acting like keeping quiet on Twitter and not making waves is all fine and good and will get you pushed is at best a correlation, and apart from anything else, Darby had plenty of Twitter drama circling around him actually, Tony just let him off the hook about it.

I feel like in some people’s mindsets, putting their company on blast puts more pressure on the company to book them properly or whatever. I think Becky was making passive aggressive comments when her vs Trish was left off summerslam (which I 100% agree with Becky)

I don't want to live in a world that isn't ready for that. *dramatically leaves thread with his hand draped across his forehead*

There are times it's ok, lowest tier wrestlers trying to get noticed and some more legitimate complaints when other options have been exhausted.
But big name wrestlers whining, vageposting and saying something "controversial" and quickly deleting is all teenage girl level nonsense.

We use to get a lot of "morale is low" stuff about WWE but not really anyone named. You don't see a bunch of talent going on social media, podcast, and to dirt sheets unless they been released or quit. AEW has it seems like almost every week something comes out about it. The last guy I remember from WWE who air his issues in WWE was Mustafa Ali a couple years ago. The rest been rumors and ext. But not the talent themselves on social media post long rants or on a show talking about it.

New rule - Stupid social media posts means that wrestler joins the dark order.
Solves two problems, they have something new to do and the cult that can't recruit anyone has some new goons.
