Bruh. Black pulled a huge hissy fit towards the dirtsheets during this. Shaming them, saying they were lying. Then it turns out to be true. Dude this before too.

I've known people fired for social media posts so a little fine doesn't seem strange to me. A lot of companies have policies against disparaging them on social media and pro wrestlers are a lot more public than some guy who works in accounts and uses a screenname to conceal is identity. But those would be employees - does AEW count their wrestler's as employees? I just always like to pick apart legal what ifs in situations like this, same with any time WWE does contract stuff, I like to try and imagine what might happen if someone tried to legally challenge a company telling them what to do when they aren't 'real' employees. I suppose the issue would be if the wrestler could prove their comments directly led to them being discriminated against, rather than a free speech case, as AEW isnt saying they cant say thing, just handing out consequences if they do - though how far those consequences could be pushed before it became a legal matter would be another interesting avenue. No wrestler ever decides to fight anything legally (for obvious reasons), so we never actually get to see, but I like to wonder 'aloud' anyway! Generally speaking, independent contractors would have even less legal recourse for something like that. But yeah, as others have said, "free speech" doesn't apply here.

Definitely about time they did something. "Free speech" is one thing but anywhere I've ever worked I wouldn't really expect to get away with basically slagging off the company or whinging about say, a lack of a promotion. I find people complaining online really tedious at the best of times and came off social media altogether because of it, only way I see tweets and stuff now is if someone posts them elsewhere, and wrestlers complaining are one of the things I get subjected to the most in that regard, so yeah, big fan of making it stop. It's not a very professional look having people bitch about their spot either, even as an outsider at the time it felt like something was brewing around Brawl Out with people very comfortable with going public with their grievances.
Not usually a big fan of authority in the slightest but AEW could certainly do with a little more, and Danielson is an ultra respected guy in and out of the ring so feels like a perfect choice for this kind of thing, could be quite a shrewd move.

One thing I wonder about, do yall think Bryan is on social media enough to hear about these things or do you think he's being told by others or even dirtsheets and then he gives the fines out?
The idea of Bryan being heavily on social media is pretty funny to me. Imagine him drinking a smoothie with an "I love nature" shirt on peeping what Sammy Guevara's saying on twitter with a notepad on his lap.

"Don't think we can't replace you!" The video to this with the Curb your Enthusiasm music was one of my favorites.

Free speech is protection from government action, not a private employer’s action. This! It’s the same reason I can’t type variations of f*** on this message board. I can type around it while screaming “FIRST AMENDMENT!” and there will still be consequences. More people need to actually read and absorb the 1st Amendment I'm English, so nah, don't need to read your laws But that's really interesting, as the way that the media portrays that First Amendment right, even over here, is that it's more encompassing and more easy to use as a defence against just about anything. Always nice to learn something on FAN

Always nice to learn something on FAN My original statement was more of a blanket statement about the lack of basic Civics understanding in this county - not directed at you specifically, just for clarity. But yeah people will say all kinds of heinous and/or dumb shit n social media and elsewhere then be the living embodiment of ‘Picachu Face’ when they face consequences because they have zero idea what the First amendment actually means - let alone says.

Always nice to learn something on FAN That comes from people just saying it to say it. The vast majority of laws are pro employer not employee in the United States. Many states you can be fired just because "they felt like it" and as an independent contractor you have even less protections as you aren't even an employee. No free speech clause can protect you from this kinda stuff. Like if you were to go on twitter or facebook where everyone knows it's you, and start disparaging your job/boss/co-workers the repercussions that come from it aren't protected.

Always nice to learn something on FAN Our defamation laws are a lot stronger in protecting free speech than yours are (you're in the UK right?), but especially when it comes to employers, freedom of speech isn't freedom from consequence in how other people react. As long as said consequence isn't like, an actual crime.

Bryan Danielson's disciplinary actions:
1 infraction - fine
2 infractions - bigger fine
3 infractions - LeBell Lock
4 infractions - f***ing head kicked in.

Battle of the sources again: Sapp vs. Meltzer Bob Sapp? I'd pay to see that.
