Battle of the sources again: Sapp vs. Meltzer Bob Sapp? I'd pay to see that. Oh god is he gonna dance?

If its not a work then he is clearly stopped giving a fk and he will be let go next year...
I always wonder about this kinda stuff...like I highly doubt WWE will be interested, he's burning his AEW bridge so is he gonna go try to catch on in Japan or Mexico? He’ll just go back to TNA and work indies around that cushy schedule. It’s easily the place where a singles run has the best chance to happen. There’s a good story in a former top tag team member of the promotion returning to prove themselves as a singles. They left of great terms. Gave them a big send off thanking them for their run

Yeah, TNA gave a big singles push to Hernandez. And Santana is way more talented than Hernandez. He'd probably thrive there as a singles wrestler.

Santana should be thankful AEW continued paying him why injured when his contract actually expired (I remember it being said that his contract was going to be up in September 2022), they could've easily just let him go and got out of paying him for another year.
Yet all he does is moan about the company on social media.

And people like Eric Bischoff still haven't lived down firing injured guys decades later

I will forever think that AEW dropped the ball with the team of Santana & Ortiz and that they should have been tag champs.
I'm also pretty sure that both Santana and Ortiz could have good runs as solo wrestlers, but about 90% of the AEW roster could have good runs so that doesn't really mean anything. Santana is right to bet on himself but I don't think AEW is wrong or dropping the ball for not giving him that push. AEW has an embarrassment of riches and although it sucks, letting a few more contracts expire (not firing anyone) would probably do the company some good.

I fee like TK signed a lot of people without a clear plan for like..everyone but like 4 or 5 of them. I’m sure getting paid is nice, but I think guys like Santana want to grind and actually go out there and earn his money. Not just sit around on the off chance he might be used.

P&P never holding the tag titles is booking malpractice, but I can't say Santana as a solo act hasn't got me feeling the same way.

One of them should have been in the Continental Classic instead of Jay Lethal, who nobody gives a f*** about.

I don't think the public complaining about the company is a good look, but he absolutely should not have to show gratitude publicly - because we don't know if he did privately - to his employer for paying for the medical care for an injury

I'm torn, they do it in sports (have a respected member of the locker room be the guy to collect fines) but wrestling is so wild west I really don't see it ending well. Although in sports they have all agreed to what fines are for what and the guy literally just collects, he doesn't actually decide what should be fined and hand them out himself. The more I think about it, it just feels like Tony again wants to be everyone's friend and is hiding behind a popular wrestler.
Openly moaning on twitter about your booking isn't going to help anything but apparently AR Fox got in trouble for liking a tweet about CM Punk. It feels like it's gone a bit too far already.

Me rn: "This makes sense and is likely a way to transition Bryan from an active wrestler to more officially one of Tony's right hand men" Me in a year: "OK so maybe the Danielsonverse where Danielson wins every title and has bullied most of the roster into quitting for real has some roots tying back to giving him the power here" No I'm so hype for the Danielsonverse dude is going to put on hour long matches against undercard good wrestledudes every week, he's going to self-indulge with a time limit draw against Metalik and I am so here for it This is the best timeline.

They do this because they don't respect the boss or worry about repercussions.

Was that recent? In August Fox got in trouble for not disclosing his passport status and putting the coffin tag match at risk, but never heard anything about a Punk tweet. Anyway, when Bryan talks about this he makes it clear that he's a guy on the disciplinary committee, not that he IS the disciplinary committee. Apparently it's mostly lawyers, and he's there to be a voice for and from the locker room (though I won't be surprised if he's in management once he's done wrestling full-time). While it's a fun as hell meme, the idea that Bryan's the main one doing all this is pretty far-fetched.

I'm honestly not against the idea of having a respected wrestler do this in theory, rather than the usual way they threw some sacrificial toadie out there who nobody liked who puts on a suit and plays corporate hardass like a big man. Maybe it all turns out terrible after all, but there does feel like some logic in taking a guy people like and respect, and having him try to keep people in line a bit more. It does at least seem worth the attempt. Me rn: "This makes sense and is likely a way to transition Bryan from an active wrestler to more officially one of Tony's right hand men" Me in a year: "OK so maybe the Danielsonverse where Danielson wins every title and has bullied most of the roster into quitting for real has some roots tying back to giving him the power here" Danielson now: "I'm just a small part of this committee haha. I'm not unilaterally doing anything, and when this crisis has passed I will step down." Danielson next year: "I AM THE COMMITTEE."
