I'm sure it's been said but they are f***ing insane if they don't do this at Mania. I love Cody but they would make so much more money with Rocky.
That said it disgusts me that it never ends with Roman. Lesnar put him over multiple times, basically everyone has. He will retire having beaten virtually every wrestling superstar from two eras other than Austin. WWE will treat him retroactively as bigger than Cena, one of the greatest to ever do it. I like Roman well enough but good golly, I can't wait until he's off to Hollywood and we get something new for a change.

Could they do Cody VS Roman at Elimination Chamber?

Cody’s story isn’t necessarily winning the title at Wrestlemania it’s winning the WWE Title. The problem with that is we’ve got to wait even longer for Roman to be dethroned if this match doesn’t happen at Mania.

Like, Rollins is the secondary champion. They want people to see him otherwise but as long as that Roman shaped shadow embodies the whole product and the title’s creation basically being “We don’t want Roman to lose but need a world champion”, that’ll be the case.
The best case scenario right now is that he headlines Night 1. And that’s not if they try and have their cake and eat it with Rock/Roman.

I love me some Dwayne, and enjoyed the Jinder stuff on Raw, but I'd much rather that RoWan retired The Rock, not RoMan.

If Roman/Rock happens at Mania, that pretty much ruins Cody, who is pretty much the closest thing to the next Cena, and Cody’s not exactly a youngster, he’s the same age as Roman so if they wait till Mania 41 that’s pretty much going to be the only year he’s a full fledged main event star. Rock/Roman can happen in EC, the Americans can watch the event when they wake up.

You might as well say “If people can go see The Boy and the Heron, they can see Kung Fu Panda 4”.

Honestly my guess is if they don't do Rock / Roman at Elimination Chamber rather than Roman working Mania twice they'll instead have Cody win Money in the Bank then beat Roman at SummerSlam.

Okay. So I know Dwayne is loved by many, he moves numbers, merch, and brings a ton of press and hype to the product, but... UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I fully admit that I've never liked babyface Rock, whether we're talking promos or matches. I know it's my "No Fun Allowed" meme moment, but the whole "this promo is mainly just here so fans can chant along with catchphrases" thing just made me groan in boredom from the time I was about 13-14 years old. Obviously the guy is one of the biggest draws of all time, so no shade on people enjoying his act, but even when I got to see WM 31 and he did that ridiculously long segment I was sitting there just bored out of my mind. Anywho, I still think they need to do Cody/Roman at Mania; maybe I'm 100% off base here, but I think keeping the belt on Roman much longer risks some backlash. Again, I could be way off; I thought doing the match the way they did last year was begging for blowback (and, frankly, neither man's done much storyline or character-wise since then to justify having Roman go over last year) and clearly business is still up, but there can be limits to these things.

The way I see it, from the impressions I get from people who watch and such, there isn’t much of a story left to tell with Roman as champion. You not only told the tension of the Bloodline story for the duration of the story, you reset it back to the status quo twice and at least for now, stuck with some kind of separation of the Usos. If you have Jey going back to Roman and Co, you’re basically doing the nWo 2000 equivalent when you already did the Fingerpoke of Doom one. It’s why I was saying in another thread about Naomi not being needed, the chance to involve her was in the storyline’s peak and now we’re on the cusp of it’s ending and bringing her in would just be trying to get the desperate scraps. You can use Roman and his contract as a way of building new dream matchups you can have on big shows, put over Cody (and possibly Solo) before he takes on of his long breaks, give Cody a bunch of new challengers for the belt (possibly a rematch with Seth if Punk beats him at ‘Mania) and basically pass that torch to the next story with your actual biggest stars in the company right now, The Judgment Day and their growing tensions.

I still think if it happens this year it's at EC. Also for it to happen at Mania then Rock would probably also have to wrestle and win either a Rumble or chamber match which I'm struggling to see happening. You can just give a big name a title match on any other PPV but for Mania it's established in kayfabe to get a World title Mania main event you have to win one of those gruelling matches. As a babyface Rock would look terrible if he just gets the Mania main event without earning it in the ring. When's the last time someone got a Mania world title match without winning a Rumble, chamber, battle royal, tournament or whatever kind of no. 1 contender match? I don't think JD are the biggest stars in the company. Top 5 act I'd say more realistic but there's no way they're number 1. Right away they're definitely not bigger than Roman, Cody or Punk. And ratings/merch wise they might not even be above Seth, Becky, Knight, Jey and a few others around that level.

I think back in 2020 Goldberg asked who was next for his universal title match and Roman just came out and was like “I’m next” and then when that match couldn’t happen Braun was slotted in (which I’m not gonna give them shit for cuz Covid). But with Roman getting the title shot you can atleast argue that he was the runner up in the Royal Rumble. If Rock came back and just asked for a title match at the biggest stage of them all and got it, then it would be unfair both kayfabe and real life

It’s more likely that as a face, Rock would know and respect Cody wants to finish the story and won’t get in the way of that.

Why rush all of it. Cody wins the Rumble, finishes the story at Wrestlemania and then Rock/Roman happens at Summerslam in some kind of Tribal Chief, Head of the Table, match.

Writing Cody out is super easy, barley an inconvenience.
Cody wins the Rumble. "Yay. I'm Cody. I'm going to finish the story!"
Roman says "Wiseman. Didn't we do this already? Take care of it". "Yes my Tribal Chief" Solo and Jimmmy take Cody out.
The Rock says, "Oh noes my best friend Cody! We used to play together in Dusty's Treehouse and Cody's mom, Sapphire, would give us pie. I'm challenging Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania!" Nick Aldis makes the match.
