The Rock is from like 25 years ago. Roman should spank his old tired ass and get this match done so we can stop hearing about it.

Watching the highlights yeah it was. 5 minutes of Jinder talking that felt like 20 hours and then Rock insults Jinder for 15 minutes with the usual childish insults you would expect. The Jinder Swerve, Rock entrance & Rock teasing the Roman match saved it though. Yeah the Rock is one of my favorites of all time but his return promos (while the crowd eats it up every time) always seem like a far cry from what he was on the mic. This version of Reigns could probably destroy him verbally and I’m not sure if that says more about how good Reigns is now or how far Rock has fallen. Although to be fair to Rock he is a brand now and can’t be the same dude he used to be, but it definitely comes across like he’s pulling punches on the mic or intentionally being tame with his insults. He's had moments of his old self, but I think the reality is, he's so busy, he's probably just memorizing something Gerwitz quickly wrote for him. I am also not going to judge anyone for supplements they use, but I have a suspicion Rock is his taking testosterone (a lot of doctors prescribe it for men over 40) and it's slowly ruining his voice. Your vocal chords can't handle going through puberty multiple times and the raspy voice is a fairly common side effect of testosterone abuse. It's not a coincidence that Al Snow became super jacked and then had his voice change in his 50's. Triple H is another guy you can point to for this, his voice when he was 20 is not even close to the same as it was in his late 20's.

I guess “appear” might be different than “wrestle” but that is interesting.

Rock Vs Roman Night 1 Cody Vs Roman Night 2
Cody in some kind of personal grudge match on Night 1 also like an elongated version of Wrestlemania 10.
If the Rock/Roman match doesn't happen at EC this works for me.
The most disappointing outcome would be Cody winning Royal Rumble and challenging Seth. It's a strange one though as I'd be totally fine with Punk winning the Rumble and challenging Seth (Cody getting his shot via EC). I'm just very much invested in Cody winning the real World Championship(s).

I wouldn't be shocked if it were a tag match of Rock and (maybe) LA Knight? They could face Roman and Solo. Have Roman and Solo take turns destroying LA Knight until he hot tags Rock and Rock either finishes off Roman and Solo or sets up the finish for a recovering LA Knight.

Imagine if 1999 Rock or 1999 Austin challenged a 1974 Bruno Sammartino to match in 1999? I don't think the attitude era fans would even understand "Who's this OLD guy". WWF 1999 reverting back to a 1974 gimmick would've felt completely ancient. And here we are in 2024 reverting back to 1999.

You say that like we didn't get a Hulk Hogan title reign with the Unified belt which led directly to The Rock turning heel with a Hollywood persona. There we were in 2002 reverting back to 1984. Nostalgia has always gotten a pop, especially when the guy we're nostalgic for didn't 'really' go away. Hogan left WWF, but he was over in WCW. Rock left wrestling but he's still a leading man in Hollywood. He's as relevant today as he was in 99.

Honest to god, the doom posting makes me wanna avoid the WWE section. Some of you REALLY want to be miserable just so you can be "right" Personally, I'm so tired of Roman's title reign, and after last year it's hard to be hopeful because last year felt like a sure thing and then it wasn't WWE's in a much better place but when it comes to this title reign, it's an albatross, that still is a drag, for a lot of people, and I don't think it's fair to call all of that doomposting as much as it is exhaustion as something else comes into the fray when people have wanted Cody to win the belt for a year now.

Honest to god, the doom posting makes me wanna avoid the WWE section. Some of you REALLY want to be miserable just so you can be "right" WWE has trained people to be wary whenever a part-timer shows up because time and time again they have been put over the regular stars. WWE has been on a roll and things have been great, but it's WM season and Rock vs Roman is something the company has wanted for years. People have good reason to be concerned. Now with Vince out of the picture, there is hope that they do this right, but I can totally understand why some folks are throwing their hands up and sighing, especially when they were told after WM 39, no no the real ending is WM 40.

That's the part of it all that's lame to me. I get people being afraid due to WWE's history with part-timers and all but that other part, it's weird and I've never been a fan of that crap since he's joined the company. It's like some angry ex-girlfriend stuff when really nah bruh, it ain't that serious. We're just watching entertainers on tv.

I understand people being excited at the prospect of the spectacle, but with some pre-nut clarity, how can we expect the Rock not to explode like dried spaghetti if the match is longer than a cup of coffee?

And the fact that the last time Rock wrestled an actual match (not counting the stuff at WM32), dude got injured.
