This is a different company now, though. They want these major international PLE’s to feel like WrestleMania’s in their own right. Mania will be a huge money maker no matter what and it’s in an especially hot market. This is the chance to make a big statement about what these international shows could mean going forward. If you do Roman/Rock in Australia, you could wind up in a situation where countries are bidding or paying big, big bucks for what used to be “B shows.” I think in a world where WWE was really US-centric, yes, do it at Mania, but it’s a different world. On the other hand, the Australia show is already sold out. WrestleMania has way more financial incentive because of the amount of shows being done that time and packages to be sold. Raw and Smackdown aren’t being done over there, there isn’t an NXT show down there (as far as I know), you can’t really do a Rock HOF induction in Australia etc. As a shareholder, I’d probably ask why you’d leave a bunch of money on the table to boost something that might not get the leverage you want later on. Elimination Chamber is not sold out. Mania is closer to selling out.

Honestly, I'm only interested in Cody/Roman 2 if Cody wins this time.
If that's not the plan then go ahead and have Rock and Roman.
I have zero interest in this feu personally but I get why others might.

When I go on to win my bet that Roman won’t walk out of Mania 40 as champion, I’m just going to sit back and laugh at those who thought I was wrong.
I didn’t say *who* Roman would drop the belt to, but his reign is likely ending there.

I don't see them doing it anywhere but Mania.
EC would be a waste as much of their usual audience may not be watching anyway.

Good God that segment was painful. Watching the highlights yeah it was. 5 minutes of Jinder talking that felt like 20 hours and then Rock insults Jinder for 15 minutes with the usual childish insults you would expect. The Jinder Swerve, Rock entrance & Rock teasing the Roman match saved it though.

Yeah the Rock is one of my favorites of all time but his return promos (while the crowd eats it up every time) always seem like a far cry from what he was on the mic. This version of Reigns could probably destroy him verbally and I’m not sure if that says more about how good Reigns is now or how far Rock has fallen. Although to be fair to Rock he is a brand now and can’t be the same dude he used to be, but it definitely comes across like he’s pulling punches on the mic or intentionally being tame with his insults.

I think it's because he's not really in a story where he can sink his teeth into things. Even if I don't want the match at Mania, I can't deny that Roman/Rock will have some good promo battles.

Rock’s there to lose to Roman because if he doesn’t, man, that’ll really test if WWE can weather any storm that tries to hit it. Roman Reigns losing his 1,200+ day reign as world champion to a 51-year-old part-timer who is completely out of breath after performing three moves on Jinder Mahal would be just about the worst conclusion to the multi-year story they've been telling. I think the best way WWE can handle this, without completely destroying any momentum Cody Rhodes has left, is to: a) have Cody Rhodes win the Royal Rumble. This removes any question about whether he'll get another chance to "finish the story" at WrestleMania, as we all know CM Punk is going to be the one facing Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, and that can be handled at Elimination Chamber. Cody Rhodes deserves b) have The Rock challenge Roman Reigns to Tribal Combat at Elimination Chamber. This won't be for the championship, it'll be for the right to call one's self the true Head of the Table. The Rock wins, piercing Roman Reigns' armor heading into WrestleMania XL. c) Cody Rhodes beats Roman Reigns for the championship at WrestleMania XL. Roman Reigns' armor is no longer pierced, it's shattered. Roman gets time off, and the recently-anointed Tribal Prince Solo Sikoa becomes Rhodes' first challenger for the belt.

I wouldn't mind it if this was all leading to a Roman/Rock vs. Solo/Jimmy tag somewhere. That'd be a big match for one of the international shows.

Guys, they are not doing this at EC. This is happening at Mania, main event of night 2. Cody's getting f***ed (u.u), Punk is not getting his Mania main event (the one that counts these days, the second night) and Roman is going over so he can break Hogan's reign.
Sorry, just had to get the darkest timeline out there in print lol.

It's interesting that almost 24 hours later I still don't think your Fightfuls or Wrestling Observers have reported whether this is happening at EC, Mania or if it's just a tease not leading to anything right away, which leads me to believe they don't have the sources to confirm anything yet. The Boozer guy on Twitter is the only one straight up saying it would be EC and was saying that even before Rock showed up but he's not reliable enough that I would completely bank on it.

If it does happen at Mania, what do you even do with Cody? It feels like Seth is on a collision course with Punk. But even if he wasn’t, Cody beating Seth feels like a total anticlimax. It will be a big deal whenever someone dethrones GUNTHER, but that would still feel like a consolation prize for Cody
