Why are they doing Best Director before Best Actress? Actress is the tightest race.

Delighted for Cillian Murphy. For so long I felt he was underrated by so many, so it's great to see him get the highest recognition that can be given.
I'm half certain that he said the line "I'm a proud Irishman" as there's been so many press junkets and news articles where people call him British.

Bout damn time Nolan got one. Should have won for Dark Knight, but he wasn't nominated. And honestly, should have won for Dunkirk with how much tension that movie had.

Why are they doing Best Director before Best Actress? Actress is the tightest race. And it still won’t go to the right person regardless of who wins. Sandra Hüller deserves this.

Nolan should have won in 2009 for The Dark Knight. Still can’t believe he didn’t get nominated for that one.

Well done Tommy Shelby! Is that the first Irishman to win Best Actor(not counting DDL who is English with Irish citizenship)? Yup, there's DDL as you said but Cillian is the first Irish born actor to win Lead Actor. We've wins in the Supporting Actor and Actress categories with Barry Fitzgerald and Brenda Fricker.

Why are they doing Best Director before Best Actress? I know he spent a good chunk of time making Batman movies they aren’t going to give directing and best picture awards…but it is still wild to me it took that long. He is everything they should love rolled into one. He makes movies that get great reviews AND people go out to see in droves. His name is as bankable as anyone. Now that the monkey is off your back…go make that horror movie Nolan! I don’t want to be teased again like I was with that whole Halloween ordeal years ago

That would be phenomenal.

I do like this presentation strategy for the Actors and Actresses Awards, it's different. I like seeing their scenes played out but the other actors giving them praise isn't the worst thing in the world. It's game recognizing game.
