Much ado already about Robbie being snubbed for best actress. Whilst she did a fantastic job as Barbie, we did leave the theatre afterwards like "hot damn, Ryan Gosling was note-freaking-perfect."
Gerwig being overlooked does feel absolutely ridiculous though.

Once Upon a Studio getting snubbed is absolutely jaw dropping, I thought it was a shoe-in to win the category, it was like Disney's best work all year.
This has been a 100th Anniversary to forget for Disney. If it wasn't for Elemental carrying their asses to at least nominations they'd be getting blown out by like every other animation studio
Nimona, the movie they tried to erase, is up for an Oscar Nomination and NINE Annie Awards while Wish sits there and collects dust. Eat shit honestly, they deserve it lol

Huh, I didn't think Godzilla Minus One would be able to be nominated until next season?
I'm already preparing myself for American Fiction to lose all over the place even though Jeffrey Wright in particular delivered the performance of the year.

Margot leading the biggest movie of the year and not getting a nomination is stunning

Prove me wrong.

I automatically associate Gosling with Drive and La La Land whenever I see him, but I’m pretty certain he’s Ken to much of the zeitgeist now.

You aren't wrong, but there's a hell of an irony about Elemental carrying their asses in nominations and Disney's response is laying off 20% of Pixar's work force this year reportedly. Really fun stuff going on over there right now (heavy sarcasm)

You misread what I'm saying I think, I'm mad at Disney for laying Pixar employees off because Elemental is the only thing doing well for them this year in the awards season The end part was sarcasm, eye rolling, at the one thing giving Disney any attention this year, being from the studio they're punishing instead of rewarding for it. I'm not rooting for them to fail or reveling in it, I'm regarding their one big success on the year awards wise not even being given good recognition from it by the company, it sucks the way they're treating Pixar right now.

Damn. I was hoping Godzilla Minus One would at least be up for Best International Feature Film. I thought it was that good at least - That being said I haven't seen any of the other movies up in that category so who am I to judge, maybe they are just that good! Heck, despite 2023 being a banner year for me going back to the theatres I have seen exactly zero of the movies listed in the major categories...

Only seen Oppenheimer and The Holdovers from the big nominees but well deserved nominations for all. Rooting for Randolph and RDJ to win. Rooting for Cillian but Giamatti winning wouldn’t be a travesty.
Still wanna see Killers of the Flower Moon

Okay, I can understand that, I just feel people lean too hard into the “haha, *burn you evil mouse house hahah” stuff and try to drag the studio into class wars and culture crap, when in reality they simply hit a cold spell in recent ideas. It happens. Also, I don’t like how people will lump studio boards and the creative teams together like they’re all a hive mind or something, when they’re rarely monolithic within themselves either.

May December not gettin a single nomination, especially Charles Melton’s incredible performance, is ridiculous.
Edit: missed that it got screenplay. My previous point about Melitón still stands.

Gosling getting nominated surprises me tbh. And I’ve been a baby goose mark since young mutha f***ing Hercules. Margot not getting nominated, nor the director, doesn’t surprise me. Doesn’t warrant it, though I do think Margot did a stellar job.
