If this is Microsoft throwing in the towel hopefully it doesn’t cause Sony to become complacent. That’s what got Microsoft in this situation to begin with when they thought they had the PlayStation defeated. Gonna be an interesting update. There's still Nintendo, but they're content being the lower tech, cheaper alternative to Sony and MS. Like I'd be surprised if the Switch 2 or whatever they call their next console even comes close in specs to the PS5 or Series X. By most accounts the Switch 2's going to be somewhere between a PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Looks like stuff will be confirmed or denied next week.
That's definitely a confirmation. You don't wait a week to say it's not true.

The only reason I would care at all about the power is ideally there would be feature and performance parity for multiplatform games. It sucks that the Nintendo version of a game is often going to be worse in some way.

I recall when Microsoft purchased Bethesda, they said that their games would eventually be on the PS5; that Xbox would just have those games first for like a year or something. Sorry, I could be wrong.

Sony at least ports some of its big first party games to PC eventually and MLB the Show to all platforms now.. Sony didn’t choose to make The Show cross platform, MLB told them “you’re putting this game on Switch and XBox or your exclusive license goes bye bye.”

May or may not mean something because it's a mistake that's happened before, but Gamestop's got a new add that refers to it as Microsoft Game Pass instead of Xbox Game Pass. Could just be an oversight, could be a sign of news to come given the current lay of things.

The whole story of Microsoft exiting the console game doesn’t make a lick of sense quite frankly. The “failure” XBox one still moved 60 million units, that’s a massive user base that’s invested in your ecosystem and half of those have already invested in upgrading to stay in that ecosystem and that’s with Microsoft just dropping XB1 support in the past year and Series X seeing its first price drop over Christmas.
However, they are far enough behind Sony and Nintendo, and have bought up so many software companies that making a lot of their first party games multiplatform or timed exclusives makes a tonne of sense.
I could see Microsoft getting out of the console pissing contest and releasing new consoles on their own schedule rather than always timing them with Sony going forward.
EDIT: And XBox still has excellent 3rd party support and as more and more games are sold from digital marketplaces Microsoft gets a slice of that pie too. It would be an incredibly illogical move to abandon XBox right now

Well apparently the Starfield/Indy to PS5 leaker said their info is false, but the way they worded that tweet made it sound like this podcast could be a big deal. If anything, they could just be using the interest in the rumors to make folks tune in to a podcast about some goofy indie games coming to Gamepass.
Guess we’ll find out Thursday!

So at the moment there are rumours about Microsoft quitting console making but there are also rumours they'll bring out a new home console and a Switch like handheld in 2026.
For what it is i love my Series S due to how vast the library is. I appreciate that while it ain't perfect they've really made an effort with backwards compatability. Would be a real shame if they dumped all that.

Microsoft has been getting it's ass handed to it by Sony in console market, Sony is still behind Nintendo when it comes to video game domination, and Microsoft wants to go head to head with Nintendo? Sony doesn't even want to f*** with Nintendo in the portable market. And this would come at most a year after the Switch 2, and Microsoft doesn't have much penetration in Japan? Microsoft would get murdered.

Sony should just create their own open world space exploration game.

Sony should just create their own open world space exploration game. Well, it's not quite 100% fully open world, but there is The Outer Worlds.
