Various artists have different reasons for not playing certain songs, not to get in a debate about religion etc, but Alice Cooper has dropped some songs from his set over the years, as has Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, like Anarchy in the Uk, but what are some you know of and why did they stop?

Alice had dropped a few of his 80’s tunes because the content no longer aligns with his religious beliefs.
Aerosmith, when they manage to play, have dropped some because Steven Tyler can’t hit the notes anymore.

The band that sang Chris Benoit's theme song stopped playing it live. No need to explain.

I don't think Judas Priest EVER played their song Eat Me Alive in concert, least of all in 1984. The world was not ready for a rockin' song about non consensual homosexual sex at gunpoint

The Rolling Stones won’t play Brown Sugar anymore due to lyrics referencing slavery and apparent non-consensual sex with black women.

Certain bands wont play songs live that a former member played/sang on. This includes Judas Priest (no Ripper era songs), Motley Crue (No John Corabi songs), Van Halen (No Gary Cherone songs) and Poison (No Richie Kotzen songs).

A handful of Cat Stevens songs either get different lyrics or not played at all due to his religious beliefs now.
Guns N' Roses for the longest time wouldnt play Dont Cry because Axl didnt want to do it without Shannon Hoon, then Bumblefoot started playing a instrumental version during his guitar solos for the crowd to sing along to, and then in 07 Axl broke decided to join in and sing the song. After that Axl added Shannon Hoons daughter to the GnR payroll which is pretty cool.

He did the same with Dizzy Reed, who called up and said, "Don't know when I'll talk to you again, because as tomorrow I'm homeless" and Axl said, "Nope, you're in Guns now" and that's the story of how Dizzy Reed joined Guns N' Roses.

Teenage Fanclub don't play anything Gerry Love wrote since he left the band, which means that quite a few of their biggest songs/hits aren't part of their live sets anymore. Which is a bit weird.

Doesn't Billy Joel not do We Didn't Start The Fire as it's a bugger to do live?

Paramore retired "Misery Business" from their live shows a few years back.
Madonna stopped performing "Like a Virgin" 15 years ago.
AC/DC haven't performed "Long Way to the Top" since Bon Scott's death in 1980.

Thy Art is Murder refuse too play their early hit "W**** to a Chainsaw" because they're no longer teenage edgelords and the blatant misogyny is something they're no longer comfortable with.

Guess some songs just don't fly these days. I remember Bon Jovi had a song that when fading out you hear him saying
"What? Your parents are home? What age are you? Aw ..no..."

I know Madonna used to put a separate "fee" on performing "Like A Virgin" and it was something insane (like literally in the "millions of dollars" stratosphere) because she loathed the song so much and thought she was past that kind of song (which, by the late 90s/early 00s and the phase of music she was in.....I mean, yeah). It doesn't surprise me if she just hit the "nope, just not doing it" point.

Spinal Tap will no longer play Stonehenge after two separate mistakes with the stage props. And then there was the time when Nigel Tufnel briefly left the band and they couldn't play anything he was a heavy contributor on, thus leading to an off putting hour and a half jazz fusion session at one of their gigs. (At least the puppet show that followed was pretty good)

Weird Al has a few: He said in a 2015 interview that he doesn't perform Jerry Springer live anymore due to the lyrics containing words that are considered slurs nowadays. He very rarely performs Albuquerque live because it's almost 12 minutes long. He rarely performs Hardware Store live because of the fast spoken section. He stopped performing his Michael Jackson parodies live after Leaving Neverland came out.

It doesn't surprise me if she just hit the "nope, just not doing it" point. Yeah, she jokingly said she'd perform it for $30 million a pop, but once she hit 50 she decided that the very idea of performing it was demeaning to both herself and the audience.

Didnt Madonna stop playing Material Girl live for a time?
The Beastie Boys didnt play Licensed To Ill (or any pre-Pauls Boutique stuff for that matter) material live later in their careers.

I'm not sure if they've said anything, but their last tour, Red Hot Chilli Peppers didn't play Under the Bridge.
If there's 1 song you'd expect from them.
It lead to a very long awkward silence in the crowd waiting for them to come back out till the roadies started taking the set down.
