WASP, for the longest time, refused to play "f*** Like A Beast" due to the lead singer's (Blackie Lawless) religious beliefs, but he brought it back for the band's recent US Tour.

I don't think Judas Priest EVER played their song Eat Me Alive in concert, least of all in 1984. The world was not ready for a rockin' song about non consensual homosexual sex at gunpoint They did on their 2008 tour supporting the 'Nostradamus' album. Even released it on a live album, 'A Touch of Evil' in 2009. This completes their 'Breaking the Law, 'Defenders of the Faith' and 'Painkiller*' albums as all songs played live. *'One Shot at Glory' first performed in 2022.

Cyndi Lauper refused to perform Goodies 'R' Good Enough for almost two decades, and even left the song off her first greatest hits album. Although she seems to be OK about playing it nowadays.

He doesn't perform much these days but David Gilmour removed Echoes from his setlist when Richard Wright died.

Not sure if they refuse or not, but when I was at the Unleash the Archers show late last year they did not play Northwest Passage. For context their cover of Northwest Passage introduced a lot of people to their music. It's got about 5 million more streams than their next most popular song on Spotify. At one point someone in the audience audibly called out 'play Northwest Passage' and the singer simply said 'no', then went on with the show. I personally was disappointed as its my favourite song they've done. The rest of the show was great but that little bit was a letdown.

Weird Al has a few: He said in a 2015 interview that he doesn't perform Jerry Springer live anymore due to the lyrics containing words that are considered slurs nowadays. He very rarely performs Albuquerque live because it's almost 12 minutes long. He rarely performs Hardware Store live because of the fast spoken section. He stopped performing his Michael Jackson parodies live after Leaving Neverland came out. He wasnāt going to do Albuquerque at all, until he had a concert there and realized he pretty much had to. He realized it wasnāt that bad to do live and it makes a somewhat frequent appearance now. Iāve seen him do it. Even changed his dream job up to at Tim Hortonās to fit the Canadian crowd.

Paramore retired "Misery Business" from their live shows a few years back. Hayley said that right before they went on a hiatus and it's been in the set since their first show back afterwards.

Paramore retired "Misery Business" from their live shows a few years back. Hayley said that right before they went on a hiatus and it's been in the set since their first show back afterwards. I can see why it might be a tough choice. It's the song I associate with them most and it is a banger. However, some of the lyrics have aged horribly and I can see them being uncomfortable with that aspect. My guess is they wanted to stop doing it but too many fans wanted them to keep doing it. Though admittedly, that's random thoughts from someone who has no way of knowing.

Radiohead got sick of Creep only playing it at a handful of shows since they grew bigger than the song. I think the last time they sang it was Glastonbury around 2017-ish. Yorke also says his vocal range has dropped with age making it difficult to sing.

Speaking of Radiohead songs they got sick of:
the last time they played Anyone Can Play Guitar was in about 1997, but at least they gave us the funniest live performance in history first

I'm not sure if they've said anything, but their last tour, Red Hot Chilli Peppers didn't play Under the Bridge. If there's 1 song you'd expect from them. It lead to a very long awkward silence in the crowd waiting for them to come back out till the roadies started taking the set down. They heard you and played it last night! On the RHCP front, they have not played 'Knock Me Down' since 1990!!! John still knows how to play it as he played a bit of it acoustically on Rick Rubins podcast, break that out already!!!

Doesn't Billy Joel not do We Didn't Start The Fire as it's a bugger to do live? I saw him in 2018 and he played it as an encore.

Job For A Cowboy still play "Entombment of a Machine" but they always do it very early in the set and basically tell everyone that only wants to hear it that they can leave now.

This thread is saving me money.
I never got the whole "don't play the one thing the fans came to see" thing. Send 'em home disappointed with that $150 ticket!

Certain bands wont play songs live that a former member played/sang on. This includes Judas Priest (no Ripper era songs), Motley Crue (No John Corabi songs), Van Halen (No Gary Cherone songs) and Poison (No Richie Kotzen songs). To be fair, what the Crue trying to pass off at concerts these days between Vince's vocals and Nikki's bass really don't count as live performances.

At least they fired the guy who can play. Who just released a solo album.

Let's be honest, Mick and Tommy were/are the only musicians in Motley Crue.

The Beastie Boys didnt play Licensed To Ill (or any pre-Pauls Boutique stuff for that matter) material live later in their careers. That's wildly not true. "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" was a regular fixure, often their opener. They also frequently did "Paul Revere," "Egg Man" and "Shake Your Rump" - the latter gave a chance for Mix Master Mike to shine and play different instrumentals under it. Doesn't Billy Joel not do We Didn't Start The Fire as it's a bugger to do live? No, he plays it every single show, he just says he regrets not giving the song a better melody and it's a reminder every time he plays it that if you try humming it the melody "sounds like a dentist drill." It's not nothing to do with the challenge of performing it.
