Ravens get a lot better while Carolina makes zero sense at all. How could they not get better value for a rental from TB, Pitt, anyone else.

I said this in the week thread, but I hope the Giants don't overreact and fire Schoen and Daboll. Despite the record, I like a lot of what they're doing, especially given the circumstances they found themselves in thanks to Gettleman. Only real mark against Schoen as a GM is that Evan Neal is a massive bust. But other than that, he's been pretty good in the draft and free agent signings. Your biggest problem is at quarterback and unfortunately when the QB isn't good, it really sets your team back. I think this season is proof that Daniel Jones is not the guy. The other biggest problem is that you and your co-tenants have the worst home field "advantage" in the NFL. But that's up to John Mara, Steve Tisch, and, unfortunately for both teams and their fanbases, Woody Johnson to deal with. They have a really good squad that can make some noise if you fix the QB and add more depth. You’re completely right about that, get a better qb not even by much and I reaaaaaaaally like this team.

I'm not really a fan of Diontae Johnson, but a 5th AND Carolina's paying most of the rest of his salary? I'll take it.

So……they want to charge him for concealing a weapon when he was upfront that he had it? Cool.

I just saw a listing of noteworthy QBs who had a worse QB rating after 10 career games than Anthony Richardson has. I already knew Josh Allen would be on the list but it was a rather surprising list. Most noteworthy to Colts fans is the fact that Peyton Manning himself topped the list.

Most noteworthy to Colts fans is the fact that Peyton Manning himself topped the list. Peyton Manning having a historically terrible rookie year has cost so many general managers and coaches their jobs over the last 20-plus years. Because his name is the one that always comes up when discussing a young quarterback who is off to a rough start, which in turn leads to the sunk cost fallacy, which eventually ends in multiple people losing their jobs. Also, while Anthony Richardson has been abysmal this season, his benching at least has to be partially attributable to him telling the media after the game that he asked out of a play last Sunday because he was tired. It's the truth, but it's also a truth you never divulge to anyone.

really makes no sense for Carolina at all It makes sense for the sole fact that the Panthers are a dumb and bad franchise.

There's a ton of smoke that Diontae Johnson is an asshole and some teams wanted no part of him in their locker room.

There's a reason why they're usually a high draft pick and it's because they're being drafted to a team that sucked.
All about building around the guy if you think you've got him. Or getting real lucky of drafting a Montana or Brady in the later rounds.

I've been watching the tape on Richardson this morning because I wanted to see if this had to be done due to play or the tired thing and i'm 100% positive it comes down to the comment. You absolutely cannot say that kind of shit as a quarterback and you gotta lie about it, just say you got a stinger or something. Still isn't great but nobody would care.
What ultimately doomed him for this season is that the team is playing WAY above their talent level right now. After watching all of that, if the team around him hadn't overperformed to this point I dare say I'd want to run him back out there. He does some shit like navigating out of the pocket that is incredible and you can't teach someone that. Problem is you're basically throwing a college freshman at most out there and you're seeing what happens.
Frustration at the tired comment and attitude aside, I hope we keep him. Have him learn under Flacco but still put him out there every once in a while for some plays. I don't think he's done.

Josh Allen has always been my comp for Richardson. He also had an awful rookie season. As far as AR goes, he’s making good reads, but he does need to make them fractionally faster. If he did, I think at least half of those 10 PDs against him goes away and we’re seeing a different outcome of the game.

So….I am certain that the call to bench Richardson came straight from Irsay.
Why? Well, there are 4 reasons to bench a young, high draft QB this early:
1) He’s lost the support of the team. From the sheer number of players independently putting out supportive social media posts in favor of Richardson, that does not sound to be the case.
2) He’s blown the patience of the GM. Considering all the messages from Ballard about how patience will be needed and that growing pain are inevitable, that seems unlikely.
3) He’s lost the favor of the coach. This one *could* be the case, though even then Steichen has said all the things Ballard said. It seems more likely that he’s been given the impression that his job might be impacted if they don’t win. That does not sound like something Ballard would push, so that leaves……
4) He’s lost favor with the owner. I think Jim Irsay has become impatient in his old age. It was not even a decade ago that he showed extreme patience and allowed GM Ryan Grigson and Coach Pagano to keep their jobs at least a couple of years longer than they should have. That patience does not appear to be present anymore.
Hopefully his daughter takes a more hands-on position in order to preach that patience that Jim has lost. He’s going to damage the franchise he plans on handing down if he doesn’t find it again.
