Jim Cornette because he can get a bit too much depending on the topic. Better for me to pick and choose. Same. I like digging through archives for some of his reviews of Dark Side of the Ring and A&E biographies these days and that's pretty much it for me. Get him talking about history, great. Anything else and it's the most mixed bag since people started mixing bags.

Moviebob slowly morphing from “fast talking retro gamer, and film enthusiast” to “Borderline insane super far left nutcase who makes Keith Olbermann look tame”

I stopped subbing to Retroblasting when it went from nostalgic looks at toys and cartoons to complaining about current toys and star wars. While Secret Galaxy never went that route thankfully, had to unsub from him due to the clickbaity video titles and not going really deep into the topics he covers.

I gurss this is less a case of the channel changing and more a case of me changing.
A bit before the pandemic, I was having a lot of repetitive work, so I decided I needed some backround noise. Having recently heard a lot about Chris Chan but not knowing anything about the subject outside of the Down the Rabbit Whole video, I was recommended a video called "Chris Chan: A Comprhensive History Part I" by GenoSamuel2.1. I gave it a listen and was hooked, so I subscribed and kept listening to the playling while working or walking my puppers.
I kept this up out of habbit at the start of the pandemic until I started to feel kinda sick. What started as a curiosity turned into a way too detailed look into a very troubled person and the arguably even more troubled people that dedicated their lives to ruining another. At some point I just looked at the video playing in the backround and thought "How is this part 40 and we're only in 2014? Just how much more is there?".
I'm not above watching videos about internet personalities and drama but that was just waaaaaaay too much for me. No disrespect to the channel or the audience but I just couldn't stomach it any longer.

Maybe I am just old, but I could really care less when YouTube "news" channels stop being about the news, and just start covering YouTube drama. The last 9 episodes of the Philip Defranco show have been about Mr Beast drama.
I've never watched Mr Beast and I honestly just don't care. His audience is primarily teens.
Once you become a working adult, you realize most workplaces have some toxic elements. Like, oh no, staff at Linus Tech Tips had to work 12 hour days, whatever shall we do? It's not like there are many of us on here working more hours, under more toxic people, for less money. I just don't think anyone over the age of 18 who has a full-time job, and supports themselves actually cares. Welcome to the real world.
Most of it is just fake outrage from a select group of affluent younger people who have been fortunate enough to never have to enter the real world. Go work labor or as a server and see how bad your high paying YouTube job really is.

Had to unsub from a friend of mine due to him clearly demonstrating signs of mental health decline in his videos. He obsesses too much about online grifters and whenever he's not gaming and trying to outrank little kids, he's posting video after video trying to 'goad' his enemies insisting that his own 'inside sources' in the industry are telling him what he wants to hear, in some of them he is cackling like an unhinged maniac. I feel real bad for him and can't bear to watch any vid he makes now

It's mostly just a guy reading off of Chris Chan's wiki, something you could do yourself if you were arsed at all. I started paying close attention to Chris again during the pandemic because of what she did and wanted to know what the outcome would be, but somehow she avoided jail time for what she did and I was like "I can't follow this crap anymore".

Honestly for me it was less about the guy reading a wiki or not, and more about just not being able to deal with the sheer lack of human decency on all fronts of the story anymore. I didn't even get to the big thing, I just called it quits.

Chris is a creepy sexual predator with warning signs about what she'd do stretching back all the way to the early 2000s. The "christorians" are a bunch of weirdos picking through said sex pest's garbage for something to laugh about. I'm of the opinion that it's best to disengage from the whole story and let them have each other.

I gave up on Angry Joe when his review of Last of Us 2 was just him wingeing like a toddler about how he only wanted to play Joel. My last straw with Joe was I think he got one of his videos demonetized and legit went on a crying fit over it. His 'review' of Elder Scrolls Online for me.

youtube's current programming where you watch a video or two of a channel and it floods you with that channel's entire video history. I watched ONE clip of Big Bang Theory to see what it was like (absolute shit) and then the algorithm decided "he must want Big Bang Theory content" and flooded my feed with it. You're Google searches will also factor into your YouTube algorithm. I once googled the word "matrimony" to make sure I was spelling it correctly and YouTube started suggesting videos from YouTubers I had never heard of/or would ever care about posting engagement announcements. Took me about a week of clicking "do not recommend this channel" to make them go away. I remember unsubscribing from two channels because of their BS: Science channel that started posting almost entirely videos that were political in nature. Toy channel where the male host came across as a bit of a whiny man child who then started posting videos making fun of people for liking something he didn't. Generally however I find myself binge watching a channel over a day or two so I subscribe only to realize a week or so later I no longer have much interest in their content.

I stop watching Bald and Bankrupt's videos when he was outed for being a creepy and predatory sex tourist.

Not sure if I mentioned this, I probably have. But it's more "things that guarantee I am never going to even click on the video"
Those stupid thumbnails with the YouTuber pulling a stupid exagerrated face. Usually the mouth open and eyes wide looking shocked.

I remember recently Finn McKenty/The Punk Rock MBA stated he actually hates doing that but he needs the money and it helps him get views so he's basically resigned to it. I doubt he's the only one who feels that way.

What exactly is appealing about the stupid face? I see that face, and I think either the YouTuber is gonna either be an annoying douche or the video is gonna be clickbait.

Uh, well, annoying douches and clickbait are great for farming engagement is why People leave hate comments on shit, without realising they are giving that person engagement (and bumping it up their own feed)
