People love this guy. Good lord, he can't even get a word out without people losing their minds. He coughs, fixes his hat, opens his mouth, anything, and people act like Jesus Himself came down from the Heavens, arms spread to shower blessings and Deep Fried Twinkies on his devoted followers. I can't imagine the kind of reaction that a strong, well-timed heel turn would elict. Remember Crying Batista Fan? I don't think there would be a dry eye in the arena. So, anyways, I was watching TNA ... *ba-dum chhh!* No, seriously. I was watching TNA, and I'm kind of getting into the whole Sting/Abyss angle, where Sting is trying to find the man hidden inside the monster. Personally, if they did an angle where it was revealed that Armando was using Umaga much like Mitchell is using Abyss (as his 'meal ticket'), and Cena could appeal to the man beneath the savage veneer in Umaga ... I think it could add a lot of depth to John Cena, and frankly make for some excellent television. He can't just dance around like he's being attacked by a swarm of bees and salute forever ... well, he can, but I like my idea better.

I honestly believe a Cena heel turn would rival Hogans

Oh man.. that first idea, as much as I'd hate to say it, would indeed shock the world of wrestling. Take HBK, and Cena in the same ring.. HBK and Cena are standing tall after a win at a tag match. Then, all of a sudden....
BANNNNNNNNNNG!
As for the second idea, while it's good, copying a feud TNA is doing wouldn't be the greatest of ideas.

After rough riding early last year, they've turned people back on Cena's side finally. Well, except when they go to a place like Philly, who showed at SS that they still hate him . I still think a heel turn should happen though. Eventually if he continues to be booked as he is, people will turn on him. Make no mistake about it, there are still noticable amounts of boos everytime the music stops. But unlike last year, it's more like 80/20 in favor of Cena. But as for the fans turning, they did before and will again. Had Edge not come along and been an excellent person to play off of, who knows what would have eventually happened to Cena.

It's far to early for the heel turn. The more the people love him, the more it'll mean when he finally turns. Hogan went 15 years or whatever, not saying Cena will go that long, at at least another year 'round 'Mania time would seem perfect.

I agree with Dino, they've waited this long.. time can only help the turn at this point.

It's more a matter of people not caring than booing him, I think.
Eventually, won't people just stop caring?
Strike while the iron is hot, I say.

Umaga isn't manipulated by Armando though.
He's got a platinum grill

When the love is there and it's deep, then for the casual 'mark' then the love will take a long while to fade away. A lot on the interweb dislike Cena's babyface push, that's fine, but the guy is still over like Beatles in '64 and sells tickets. Would you want to ruin this when it's all about a business and making money? Probably not.

Umaga isn't manipulated by Armando though. He's got a platinum grill I've said it a million times, but turning Armando into the very personification of evil and not just a loveable but goofy guy in a suit would be as easy as revealing that he has Umaga on a short leash from a combination of coercion, threats to Umaga's family, and drug addiction. Umaga could very well be a reasonable, kind individual ... but Estrada wanted a big, tough guy that he could give a gimmick and make a lot of money off of, and so he did what he had to to get that. I think it's a money idea.

Would you want to ruin this when it's all about a business and making money? Probably not. You're right, of course. I was thinking purely in terms of making Cena interesting for me to watch ... but I suppose I shouldn't assume that what I find entertaining is what everyone else would find entertaining, if they're happy with him as-is.

I honestly believe a Cena heel turn would rival Hogans Actually, no and I'll tell you why. First, it wasn't that long ago that Cena was a heel and any heel turn now wouldn't be a surprise because there are alot people who actually don't like him. Did you forget that he was booed loudly during his feud with Edge? And don't you remember the tremendous heat after he beat Edge for the belt? Also, the reason why it won't come anywhere near Hogan's heel turn is, #1 Hogan as a heel was lost on alot of the wrestling fandom because it happened before wrestling went mainstream. Then he became the biggest, most over face in the history of the industry. Very few people knew of his backstage ego because his reign was pre-internet. Then he went to WCW and still used the "Real American" gimmick and was over down there even if it wasn't as over as his WWF heyday, he was still the Hulkster and there were still Hulkamaniacs. When he joined nWo, this sent shockwaves through the wrestling world that will never, ever be seen again. Even Austin's turn when he joined McMahon doesn't compare so any Cena turn won't even be in the same ball park.

No heel turn ever could compare to Hogan's heel turn. NOTHING.
But a Cena heel turn in the next few months would be very interesting. But before Wrestlemania I seriously doubt. There's still is still much milk in the utter that is Cena-fever and WWE shall milk it.

I hope that now, people can stop saying, "oh well he's just in a mark town, that's why they're cheering for him..." no. It's been like this pretty consistently for the last few months now. Cena has gotten his face heat back without going back to his old persona. The experiment of keeping the belt on Cena until people like him...seems to have worked. Good for them, I like the guy.

The question to consider is what would he have to do to go heel? It was his last heel persona that got him over to begin with, so we can't go back to that.

When the music stops, you can always hear a good amount of boos, allright, nothing like wrestlemania last year, but still!!
And he has been booed recently in the northeast, in Phila and Montreal among others (and no, in Montreal, we didn't boo him because he took the belt off our "fellow canadian" Edge, anybody who knows a bit about canadian politic knows that Quebecers hate Ontarians)

Hogan went 15 years or whatever, not saying Cena will go that long, at at least another year 'round 'Mania time would seem perfect. My thoughts exactly, Cena really has no reason to heel turn as far as I'm concerned, in my opinion if he's gonna heel turn he's gonna need a REALLY good reason to heel turn, and I'm not sure there's gonna be one for a while, and I'm not talking about businesswise, like Raw just needs a heel or anything, I mean as far as Cena's character goes I don't see any reason why his attitude should change.
