Even though he's 37 now I think RVD has a few good years left. I think in the right environment we will see 1998 RVD. He's officially my favorite wrestler of all time and I cant wait to see what he can do in Ultimate X match. Um... kick, kick, rolling thunder, kick a chair into a guy's face, frog splash. Same thing he always does. Thats the E's version of RVD. The unwatered down one does flips from the top rope into the crowd, does the vanterminator, vandaminator, press slam/standing moonsault/second rope moonsault combo gives the crowd high 5's, all kinds of great stuff we dont see in the E

RVD is better off without WWE. When he first came in he was one of the most over wrestlers in the entire company; to put this into perspective, he was one of the most over wrestlers in a company that featured Stone Cold and The Rock. And yet, he was misused for years because he wasn't a "WWF/E guy." And when he finally got his FIRST shot at being a champion (after YEARS of misuse), he made one mistake and gave WWE the justification to bury him. This despite the fact that others that had been caught smoking pot (Orton) were still pushed afterwards. Frankly, anyone saying that RVD was treated fairly by WWE is an idiot, in my opinion. In WWE's eyes all wrestlers are equal, but some wrestlers are more equal than others. Good riddance to WWE (assuming this is true). Orton, as far as I know wasn't caught by the police like RVD was in July.

i'm gonna ignore the whining and go smoke a bowl while watching old RVD matches holla! Who's whining? I haven't read the whole thread, but some points on both sides seem valid. He messed up, and at the same time he was held back for some time prior to ONS 06, he did put on some great matches, but it was his fault for what he did. I'm not angry about it, one way or the other, it might make things interesting in TNA if he decides to go, but that's all. whining's probably the wrong choice of word but in essence people are just arguing over things they're never gonna come to a conclusion on. plus, i have no desire to offer my opinion, because marijuana shouldn't be illegal PERIOD. in that case RVD would have gotten a speeding ticket and that's it. all i'm really looking forward to is him doing a shoot interview. i could care less if he goes to TNA, since they don't have their shit together anyway.

Kicky just needs to stay as far away from TNA as possible, because I actually enjoy TNA, and I don't need him screwing that up.

No, i didn't say he shouldn't have been punished, but the way everyone has held onto him getting busted with pot and the way a few people initially reacted when the news first came out was comical, in fact one poster who doesn't post any more went so far as to say he'd given the company a black eye that they would never recover from, like RVD was some sort of shapeshifting snake character who was poisoning the good honest name of World Wrestling Entertainment from the inside with drugs, or is the first guy to ever get caught with them in the entertainment industry. Still, just because others have been caught doesn't make his excusable. I know a lot of people like the guy, but they had a policy and he violated it. If Cena's not on the juice I'll eat my shirt.

He might very well be, but he didn't get pulled over by the police while he is WWE Champ like RVD did last year.

'Roids will kill you quicker than weed will, though. That's what I have a problem with. Nobody in the history of anything has ever OD'd on weed. But steroids destroy your heart and kill you before you hit your 50's. (not all the time ~cough*HulkHogan*cough~, but a lot of the time ~cough*EddyGuerreroRickRude*cough~)

well, one more blow to ECW and one more star to TNA I sincerely hope not. Kicky just needs to retire and go away.

Wasn't the plan to have RVD lose the WWE title at Saturday Night Main Event anyways, but keep the ECW title? For those arguing he wasn't misused, I would not go by 2006, especially since his IC title reign was a joke and pointless.
Not arguing one way or the other, but the WWE dropped the ball with Van Dam when his popularity was at it's highest (ie 2002-2004 before he went to Smackdown). At that time, they should've given him a run as world champ, or when they moved him to SD give him a World/US title run instead of teaming of with Rey Rey and jobbing to Rene Dupre and Kenzo Sasuke.
And although RVD did bring his punishment on himself, pot is probably the least of the drug concerns in wrestling(he just got caught).

Kicky needs to slap the fans high 5's again and give us 20 minute 5 star PPV matches again.

I'm happy to here "news" like this but I won't believe it until it happens. No sense in putting up false hopes. There was word that his contract ran out in spring shortly after Wrestlemania then there was word that his contract expired in spring of 2008 and now this? I don't know man.

I don't think RVD's as big a deal as some people seem to think he is. As we've seen time and time again, ECW mega-star simply doesn't translate to mainstream WWE mega-star. It's easy to say he's "under-utilized", but he's clearly a significant step below guys like Cena, Undertaker, Michaels, even Angle. He's over, and he's a great upper midcarder, which is exactly where he's been most of his WWE run.
