That would seriously be overkill. I think WCW tried to do that with Nitro after RAW changed its air time just to run at the same time as them. Programming quality went downhill. There's really too much on now as is.
Just say NO Vince

Technically, Raw (including commercials) and with its overrun would be longer than PPVs, which are actually two hours and 45 minutes.

Steve Austin in a non-wrestling role? I'll pass. He filled the wrestlecrap toilet to the rim last time around as Sheriff Stone Cold.
3 hours is too much time to invest to wrestling for one night. Do they expect WWE fans to have no life?

This is something I've been wanting for a few months. Get rid of Heat and have more WRESTLING on the show. What a concept.

If they ended the brand split and cut SmackDown down to 90 minutes then this could work. Otherwise there would just be too much wrestling every week.

I rather have them get rid of ECW when the contract expires and get rid of that stupid extra 5 or 7 minutes Raw alway has at the end of the show.

Fill 30 minutes or so with one or two classic matches each week, preferably having to do with a current storyline - so an old IC championship match could be used to hype up a current feud, etc... You've got this massive video library - how about putting it to more use than a couple DVDs each year and 24/7 which almost nobody gets.

Well, 3 hours theoratically is a good thing for RAW.
The question is, will they wisely spend that time for promos, matches, build up feuds, etc.?
Nah.

Why is everyone going on like Nitro sucked? I loved Nitro, most of the time anyway. The three hours guaranteed a lot of exhibition matches with no story, like the lucha matches, tag matches, and cruiser action.
I never had a problem with it.
Of course since this is RAW, three hours would just mean they would replay every segment six times instead of the three times they do now.

Nitro's 3 hours didn't suck, and you're right....it gave the mid-card more time and significance...and promos! And sadly, you might be right about RAW as well.

WWE can go a Kevin Nash route. Have one hour be nothing but recaps and fan interviews.

I completely agree. 3 hour Nitro gave alot of stateside exposure to Japanese and Mexican wrestlers, as well as more time for some great midcard matches with Jericho, Malenko, Benoit, Guerrero, etc., with plenty of time left over for lengthy and sometimes dull nWo promos. WWE already has the dull promo market cornered, they just need a midcard and some imported talent. WCW's problems began when the roster started to thin out (due to defections to WWE and squashing of the foreign wrestlers by the booking committee), they ceased to have the depth to fill three hours. This is unfortunately the state of the WWE right now. So, they shouldn't go 3 hours, but stop crapping on Nitro.

The thing I loved about the Attitude Era is that you had a reason to care about all of the characters. Everyone on the roster had something to do and everyone's storyline had at least some air time dedicated to it. A three hour Raw could bring this back. That would be a good thing. An extra hour of diva searches and John Cena odd overcoming...Not so much.

WCW really did a great job. The first hour was almost always Cruiserweight action with very little storylines. I remember that's when they started importing guys like the Villanos and Blitzkreig. The Lucha style 6 man tag team matches were so amazing. Also, Raven was like the king the 2nd hour with the Flock storylines and then there was always some sort of Sting/nWo in the 3rd hour.
I loved 3 hour Nitros. I had to be like 14 or 15 and had to always bike home as fast as I could from Baseball practice to catch Nitro.
Unless WWE realizes that they need most matches to go about 10-15 minutes the entire night... then well, we're going to be really annoyed.

As long as there's Ricki Rachtman, DJ Ran, and no wrestling in the first hour, I'm there.

Nitro was 3 hours long, and it was too long. And they STILL overbooked it.
