I just wanted to throw this out there.
DDP just lazily grabs the head and goes down.
Orton has to jump, catch the person's head with one hand (Sometimes 2), and then go down.
The f***ing jump makes it twice as hard to hit.
I don't even dislike DDP but Orton's RKO is more difficult to do.
I can understand the hatred of the headlock (Even though smarks seem to forget the psychology behind it) but saying the RKO is a 2nd rate diamond cutter is just ridiculous.

Until Orton learns to hit the move from over 50 different places (he's up to like...15 maybe?) it'll never be as awesome or definitive as the Diamond Cutter. Also, calling anything DDP did in regards to his finisher "lazy" when he was able to counter so many finishers into it is...kinda odd.

The RKO takes more skill then a diamond cutter. Anyone can grab someone's head and just lay down. ..... Not everyone can jump 5 f***ing feet high and hit that shit

watch the DDP shoot. He talks about giving the diamond cutter to Orton. It came straight from the horses mouth.

Am I the only one who sees this? DDP grabs someone's head and goes down. Orton has to jump his ass 5 feet in the air to hit it. Remember that JEricho botch? That shit would have never happened if it was a diamond cutter because the RKO takes more skill

I'm talking the majority. ANYONE can just grab someone's head and lay down (Unless you have some disorder) Not just anyone can jump and directly grab someone's head from a jumping position and hit it perfectly like ORton

Not everyone can jump 5 smurfing feet high and hit that crap You're absolutely right...not everyone or even Randy Orton can do that. When DDP was feuding with Hall & Nash, he once put Eddie Guerrero in a Razor's Edge, flipped him over on the way down to catch him in mid-air and hit a Diamond Cutter. This was on WCW Saturday Night in early-to-mid 1997. Until Orton starts doing stuff like that with the RKO, I can't really compare the two. But I don't really think they're that much the same. It's like comparing a Double Underhook Powerbomb to a Tiger Driver. Sort of the the same, but not quite, and there's reason enough to think that both look cool when the right guy does them.

wait when did somebody say it was an Ace Cutter There is a difference between a diamond cutter and an ace cutter? What the pfargtl is an Ace Cutter, I believe you're looking for "Ace Crusher" as your term of choice. In any event, yes it might take some more skill to leap at someone and grab them but come on, Neckbreaker Drops, flying clotheslines, same essential mechanics as the RKO only with different end results and hand placements. When DDP was feuding with Hall & Nash, he once put Eddie Guerrero in a Razor's Edge, flipped him over on the way down to catch him in mid-air and hit a Diamond Cutter. Also a very good point, which backs up what I said about DDP being able to hit the move from so many places and reverse so many finishers into it.

Except it's not even really a leap. He jumps up at the point his hands are just about to make contact so he's already set and ready.

So the "skill" needed to do an RKO is to ... jump? Wow. Don't know if many wrestlers know how to do that high-impact maneuver.
Jed Shaffer ~Sorry, but it's the same move. He just added a jump. That's all.

DDP >>>> Orton, so therefore Diamond Cutter >>>> RKO.
That's my 1/50 of a dollar.

At the request of another 'Crapper I was discussing this thread with, here is my input
Me (10:47:29 AM): 1 - Logically speaking, there's no reason it should work. He just...floats into the air. DDP dragged you down forcefully. That Jericho/Orton botch where he totally just flew past him, yeah, that killed its credibility.
Him (10:47:42 AM): 'zactly
Me(10:47:44 AM): 2 - Why does he have to writhe around on the mat like Tawny Kitean on a car hood in a Whitesnake video before he hits it?
Him(10:47:55 AM): go post that

Well, the argument could be made that by jumping, he's dragging the person down by the force of gravity itself. Kind of the subtle difference between a DDT and Raven's Evenflow DDT. But really, it's nitpicking. DDP made it look graceful and precise and lethal. The RKO looks gangly, wild and sloppy. It's the difference between Edge's light shoulder tackle "spear" and Rhino's Gore. Jed Shaffer ~Now the Twist Of Fate ... dammit, is that a ridiculous move.
