Umm...what? Randy Orton has been doing this gimmick since 2002 or 2003, and Eddie Guerrero wasn't murdered. the definition of the world blithe: The word blithely was used correctly, though the "Legend Killer" angle has been used since yeah 2003. Yeah, I know, but it's not like Eddie Guerrero killed anybody or was murdered which is how they're making it sound. They've been using the whole "Legend Killer" moniker in moderation now it seems after the Benoit incident.

Orton was in the Marines, not the army. Although there is no confirmation on whether or not he punted HBK's head in at a bar in Syracuse. He has been the "Legend Killer" since Sept. of 2003, by killing the legend of HBK at Unforgiven.
Yes, the alleged suicide attempt has already made it to wikipedia.

So like, why would Randy orton be depressed? If I, like him, had marginal talent, limited charisma, a proven track record of not being able to get any fan interest be I heel or face, and had a history of getting into trouble (Crapping in people's bags, destroying hotel rooms, and this recent steroid stuff) but despite all this was still at the top of the cardvying for the top spot in the company, I'd be dancing for joy at this fortune I had.
Guess I'll never understand celeberity.
Also, yeah anyone who writes a wrestling book, tries to pass himself off as knowledgable, yet makes the pretty obvious mistake of saying that Legend Killer started after Eddie's death, is clearly just looking to cash in.

It does seem very morbid to have a killer moniker added to somebody after a fellow employee died. Just sickening and horrible.

"Killer" is just a word, I don't see the big deal. It's not the word, it's the context that's being questioned.

"Killer" is just a word, I don't see the big deal. It's the meaning behind it, and how it is used. If you think about how WWE used that moniker more and more after someone died (Eddie and Chris), then you would understand that maybe its not the best descriptor for somebody.

I see how it's being used. Yup people have died. Nope. Still just a word.

I'm sure this is just newz. That Irv guy seems like a guy riding people's coat tails in wrestling. I've seen him on the news (why they bothered interviewing him I don't know) here in STL. I would imagine Randy did something like accidently take too many Tylonel PMs and got sick around the time of the hotel room thing, and people were like 'OMGZ RANDY OD'ED ON OTC PILLZ OMG CALL THE NEWZPAPERZ!!11"

Just a few things I'd like to add:
Randy Orton has had the legend killer off and on since his evolution days it has not been straight through so I could see this error being made in the article.
We don't know Randy Orton and we didn't know Chris Benoit either so we really can't judge whether Randy Orton is the type to commit suicide. While it is true that there should be some warning signs but there sure wasn't for Chris Benoit.
Marc Mero is trying to save the wrestling business. We shouldn't fall victim to Vince's lame us against them mindset. If the business changes for the better Marc Mero is going to be one of the guys to thank for it. So is oddly enough Chris Benoit in a twisted way.

Marc Mero implies that steroids killed the following people: Andre the Giant, Joey Marella, John Tenta, Owen Hart, Dino Bravo, Big Bossman, and Junkyard Dog.

Well to his credit, Irv done corrected himself....although in a tounge and cheek manner ("People said I made a mistake, but the WWE are real jerks"). I also love the second stroy.....
Orton ‘Legend Killer’ Reference Was Overstated September 18th, 2007 Readers have pointed out that the blog item about Randy Orton’s rumored suicide attempt referred erroneously to his “Legend Killer.” Orton began using the gimmick well before Eddie Guerrero died. It is both accurate and fair to note that the gimmick was applied with a special new level of tastelessness subsequent to Guerrero’s death. This correction is being inserted into the earlier item.

P.S. — Randy Orton’s Grandfather’s Words September 18th, 2007 In 1987 I covered the convention in Los Angeles of the Cauliflower Alley Club, an organization of retired wrestlers, for a story for People magazine that was not published. There I met Bob Orton Sr.: father of Cowboy Bob Orton (one of the stars of the first WrestleMania in 1985); father of Barry Orton (who in the early 1990s alleged that he failed to get a “push” in the World Wrestling Federation because he resisted the sexual harassment of Vince McMahon’s top talent aides); grandfather of Randy Orton.
“I always told my kids that they should become dentists,” Bob Senior joked to me. “When you’re a wrestler, you get chairs smashed over your head. When you’re a dentist you don’t get hurt, except maybe for a kid biting your finger.”

If this is true, it upsets me seeing as I am the HUGEST Randy Orton fan, but I don't think he's the type to go as far as taking attempts on his own life....
