Carlito isn't a third of the talent that Val is.

Carlito is slower in the ring than Andre the Giant in 1988. It's like he's drunk and high all the time.
I can't believe there's still Carlito fans.

I think you're being a little too optimistic there. Which if you're a Carlito fan is fine. When HHH got annihilated in that one match with Warrior everyone credits it to be buried for the MSG incident. How can Carlito get jobbed frequently and it not be getting buried? If you notice his mic times been cut, and his matches are usually rather short. As far as the not trying remark, it's just how he carries himself. He just seems to act like a guy who knows he's counting the lights again. I'm not saying he can't pull OUT of it, like HHH did, but right now I don't think WWE is very high on him. Which is why he wouldn't be a Val Venis. Even tho he's not a world champ, WWE LIKES Venis. I'm a Carlito fan, yes. I think he needs a change of venue. After this D.H. feud is over, he just needs to be on Smackdown or ECW. ECW is pretty damn heel heavy, so probably Smackdown. A move to Smackdown helped Christian IMMENSELY years back, so who knows? I dunno, they took all the steam out of him once he went there as he had spent all these months on Raw calling out Cena and running him down on the mic, only to have one match as part of a 3-way with him and Jericho and that was it. Then on to SD, he really didn't do anything of substance there, getting beaten down by the Mexicools and taking part in 3-way and 4-way matches over the U.S title but nothing that helped in a great way,IMO.

Eventhough he was just in a semi-high profile fued with Triple H. He came out of that fued looking worse than before he entered it. That fued did nothing to help his character or Triple H's.
As for Carlito's current slump in WWE. In my opinion he's pretty much been in a slump since they broke up Carlito and Chris Masters as a tag team, as has Chris Masters. Neither have done anything significent sense then. Sure Carlito may have received a Intercontinental Championship shot here or there. I was really starting to think his character was going to take off again this past August. When he started to fued with Lashley and aligned himself with Randy Orton for a few weeks, but nothing ever came of that either.

It'd be good if Carlito did something else as a heel other than "have a shocked look when the face says anything to him that might be even remotely insulting"

I had a funny thought about Carlito's shocked look.
If Sid ever returns, you could put that shocked look up on the tron for his entrance instead of that other guy's shocked look...bit of an update. What Carlito should do is do a shoot on creative, get some new freaking music and a new look, and just basically give his character a shitty attitude and have him squash a couple of jobbers before getting a midcard push. Where he goes after that is up to him.

I keep telling you people, Carlito shot his mouth off about not being on the WM23 card to the public (Power Slam magazine made a mention of Carlito's pissing and moaning in their WM23 review earlier this year) and therefpre has become Val Venis v2.0 as punishment. Wait 'till early next year, if Carlito doesn't get a push I'd say he is definately being buried for no particular reason. Or maybe it's because he's tried to add to his offense and has really added nothing to it...

This thread is crazy talk. People are saying he's crap in the ring and he has no charisma? Which Carlito were you watching when he debuted and feuded with Cena and Shelton?
The guy can go in the ring, no he's not Shelton, but he's definitely not a lousy worker. He is also a very good talker and has tons of charisma as a cocky heel.
Present-day Carlito is a great example of how booking can bury a guy who is otherwise actually pretty good.
As for his current situation, I'd have to say that, I hope, he's just paying some dues. He was given some very strong pushes early on in his WWE career and had the chance to set the world on fire. It didn't take, so he's going to get to the top by working his way up there. I hope.

Carlito had a crummy heel turn anyway. The moment he turned heel on Flair he got beat up...not exactly the Orton Push.

I would consider Val Venis to be a veteran who has had his day. Carlito, on the other hand, I would consider almost a bust. So it's apples and oranges as far as that goes.
The guy has shown that he can be entertaining, his initial feud with John Cena over the US title was good, his feud with RVD where he attacked RVD's injured leg was also pretty good. I also think he was good on the Cabana. He also had decent feuds with Shelton and Orton. But of course he ended up saddled with Masters..... and then the subsequent pairing with Trish, and then Maria, and then Torrie.......then the miserable feud with Flair and an uninspiring heel turn. The guy was at his best before he turned face. The move to RAW and the feud with Masters leading up to his face turn were a series of bad decisions.
The guy has charisma, and saying otherwise is just not true. That's probably his strongest asset. He has also shown talent in the ring.

This is sorta surprising overall since he just jobbed to Trips. I mean, you would think he would be sorta hot even if he was sorta buried (Getting the shit beaten out of him in the cage)

Val Venis actually wrestles like he cares.
Carlito is just so non-chalant and lazy no matter if it's a high profile match or not.

Val Venis is an amazing wrestler stuck with a jobber gimmick. Hopefully he's investing his money right now, because he really should open a wrestling school when he retires.
Carlito isn't an amazing wrestler.

Sometimes guys just end up as jobbers.
I mean from 87 to 93 Koko was a big jobber and I thought he had some sweet moves and a cool gimmick.
Obviously they thought it was just for jobbing show.
So maybe thats the case with Val Venis. Changes of the roster with other people coming and making waves and somehow he ended up having a jobbing position.
