Smarks using the term "smark bait" (a term that *I* created) to explain away information that makes them question their beliefs. If information is constantly reported by a credible source (The Observer, PWInsider, ect) then it's probably not smark bait. There's a difference between skepticism (which is good) and naivety.

I said it in another thread, but Raven (man I'm such a mark for him, haha) said it best. Smart fans are the best fans in wrestling, because if there's a wrestling show, we will go to it because it's wrestling.
However, we have the least diserning eye and are the least valuable critic on who should be pushed, who is good and who is over, because we all have our particular favourites and people who entertain us, who may not be everyone else's favourites. But money and drawing needs to be taken into account. I do see a lot of people who are starting to look at the bigger picture, which is money drawing and such, and I myself, as much as I know about wrestling, I'd probably have a hard time seeing who could be a big main event star.
Like if a smart fan and a casual fan booked a wrestling show, I feel the smart fan would have the better overall show, but the casual fan would draw more money.
I'm starting to see a lot of differences in opinion and people being less crazy then usual I've found. The burying thing is pretty crappy to me. I think what they did with John Cena on Cade & Murdoch was burying because they're putting one man over a tag team, the tag team champions no less. So that hurts Cade & Murdoch as well, they're not really good tag team champions, they couldn't even beat one guy. And that also hurts all the other tag teams who can't beat Cade & Murdoch. But when CM Punk has a competitive match with Hardcore Holly and loses, you're not getting buried from that.
The heel thing as well is an interesting idea how everyone wants so and so to turn heel because it would be better. I think it's a call for the character to be more entertaining or be edgier. Because if you're a heel and you're funny, you're swimming upstream. You're going against the grain.
There are obvious favourites as well. Everyone on the boards is biased in someway. I think everyone in the world is biased in someway. However, when you feel that the person you're biased towards can do no wrong, or biased against can do no right, that tends to be an issue.
I think a big problem is people jump the gun and judge the book by it's cover. Umaga for example, not too popular (I didn't like the idea of Umaga myself, but a lot hated his in ring style) but he gained popularity, not because everyone was waffling, but everyone was realizing, hey, this guy's actually good. Same with MVP. I think he was awesome and they debuted him in such a way where they built him as this great wrestler coming in, and he has this match against this jobber. Because that got instant heat with everybody.
My biggest pet peeve though or cliche I guess is the term smark bait, and I even have it in my sig. My issue with it is it assumes that what an internet reporter is never wrong and that they are essentially trying to work the smart fans to view their website. Now, wrestling companies have worked smart fans for ages. The example with MVP was working the smart fans too, because he got that instant heat about how he can't wrestle because he debuted on a pay per view with a job match.
Like, with the CM Punk getting buried deal. The smark bait idea is that since he's such a huge figure, people will react and I don't know, buy newsletters or something or view websites. But maybe, just maybe, they were simply wrong, maybe they got some misinformation or some inside bias and opinion and that was what was presented. People in general are always going to view those websites no matter what, so putting out a false report to get more viewers probably wouldn't work because they are already going to that site anyway. Hell, I get all my information from here. Also, the idea of signing up for a newsletter is crazy, because the contents of the newsletter get out on the net anyway.

I'm not saying TNA can do wrong (matter of fact, I can not stand Impact with a passion), but a lot of "smarks" on sites like YouTube honestly think TNA is the "future" and think it's perfect, while anything WWE (minus some wrestlers) sucks.

ROH is a magical utopia where wrestlers fly pretty unicorns over rainbows, ambrosia flows from waterfalls and bluebirds sing Disney ballads to soothe you to sleep under the apple trees.

I also have a bad feeling that this thread is going to turn into a snipping session, where people will flame each other without really flaming each other. People with differing opinions will attack certain opinions and bury that concept I guess.
I'm probably guilty of it, I try not to though, lol.

Wrestler A appears in the media criticizing an aspect of the wrestling business. Wrestler B then goes on his blog and complains about Wrestler B. A thread on this gets started where most of the posts consist of one line kudos to Wrestler B.

Here's the way I see it: Many people want others to accept their opinions as fact. If enough people accept them as fact then it gives the initial person or persons a feeling of power. This is why people will constantly talk about something they hate—they want others to feel the same way. It matters to them that others perceive things the same way that they do.

All Smarks belong to a hivemind called the "IWC!" But because I don't believe ____ I'm not in it!

Thye must continually whine about the other smarks, of which they are somehow now apart of. There were a few idiots on here (gone now) who actually attacked others by calling them smarks. "I think Austin Aries is a better performer than John Cena." "John Cena makes more money, you smark!" HEH?! Don't they understand that we're ALL smarks on here?

The IWC term, like, a lot of people say that it doesn't exist. But, like children, casual fans, hardcore marks or whatever, it's a portion of the audience. That's what it is generally. I feel anyway.

I think the IWC absolutely exists. It's the fans who converse on the internet. But I hate when people try to make it out as this cult who all think, feel, and want the same things. Just a cheap way to bash smarks.

One cliche that annoys me: Go to a wrestling show and try to get your chants over. The only ROH clip I've ever seen in my life was when someone posted a link to CM Punk winning the title and turning heel. Within a 2 minute span, there was about 17 different crowd chants in succession. Seriously, when did just cheering become taboo?
OK, I'm done now.

A fan who knows that wrestling is pre-determined is a smark, simple as that. IWC is, indeed, a bunch of fans who converse on the internet (us again). But some people (notably those who dislike RoH, TNA & indies) try to make it out as though smarks & the IWC all have one set of opinions. Yes, I like Bryan Danielson, but that doesn't preclude me from liking Rob Conway as well. I don't like John Cena much, but I can tolerate him. I like Jeff Jarrett & wish he would get back in the title picture in TNA. It's all subjective. Everyone has their own specific favourites, nobody shares ALL the same opinions!

I think like, the term smark goes more towards those who are on the internet. I think pretty much everyone believes it's not real, but there aren't a lot of people who go on the net, and know a number of the inner workings of wrestling.

Wrestlers smarks don't like are always carried by their opponent. Every Raw is the worst one ever.

Whenever they first see someone with a bodybuilder's body they claim they are on steroids and have no wrestling skill at all.
Assume that anyone who likes John Cena is either 5 to 10 years old or a very horny girl.
