Let's face it, the guy is average at best.
He's done nothing of note for the past 10 years, nowadays he's a 6/10 worker who can't cut decent promos.
ECW Stevie was good, don't get me wrong. But the undeserved worship he gets on here from some people is scary.
*ducks*

People like the underdog.
I recently watched some of the stuff he did as 'The HEAT General Manager' ... it was pretty entertaining stuff.

Yeah, I disagree with pretty much the whole thing you said with the words.

You may notice another complaint about the WWE is the fact that the same people are showcased. Stevie is generally a solid performer. Not the best but by far not the worst. The fact that he isn't utilized bothers people. That's my belief anyway.

He can cut decent promos, look at his RTC days. Wrestlingwise, he's always done excellent matches IMO, his series with Punk, and a few others here and there.
It's primarily the underdog factor though.

Solid worker, good on the mic and seems like he'd be a nice guy.

I never saw anything extraordinary out of him. A bit humorous at times, but that's it for me.
Just average.

Even if I accepted your argument that Stevie is "average at best", why can't I like an average wrestler?

Who says he can't cut a good promo? He's only had like..what..two opportunities to speak the entire year? Plus, I think his series of matches with Punk were great..they fought like a bazillion times and every match was still different (other than the outcome) and it seemed like he used a new move each time.
I really wish he would just go to TNA. He deserves at least a midcard spot. Oh, and him beating Thorn outta nowhere was like the first time I marked out in forever.

He's pretty good, nothing fantastic. A lot of people here probably feel the same way.
Half of it is just people running with the joke too, like Snitsky. Though of course Richards is much better than Snitsky.
