John Cena

John Felix Anthony Cena (born April 23, 1977) is an American professional wrestler, hip hop musician and actor. He currently works for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a member of the Raw brand, though is currently inactive due to a legitimate torn pectoral muscle. He was in his third reign as WWE Champion, a reign that lasted 380 days—the sixth longest reign in the title's history—before he was stripped of the title due to injury. He is also a three-time United States Champion and a one-time World Tag Team Champion.

Before being promoted to the main WWE roster, Cena trained in and wrestled for Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling, holding the top titles of both promotions.

Aside from professional wrestling, Cena has released the rap album You Can't See Me, which debuted at #15 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and starred in the movie The Marine. He has also made appearances in television shows including Manhunt, Deal or No Deal, MADtv, and Punk'd. Most recently, he was a contestant on Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race, where he made it to the final round before being eliminated, placing third in the overall competition.

Before professional wrestling
Cena was born on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts the second eldest of five brothers – Dan, Matt, Steve and Sean. He graduated from Cushing Academy before attending Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. In college he was a Division III All-American center on the football team, wearing the number 54, which is still used on some of his WWE merchandise. He graduated from Springfield in 1998 with a degree in exercise physiology pursuing a career as a bodybuilder, as well as working as a chauffeur for a limousine company.


Wrestling training
Cena first started training to become a wrestler in 2000 at the California-based "Ultimate University" operated by Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). Once he was placed into an in-ring role, he began using a semi-robotic character known as the The Prototype. Some of this period of his career was documented in the Discovery Channel program Wrestling School. While in UPW, Cena held the Heavyweight Championship for just shy of a month in April 2000. In 2001, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) signed him away from UPW, placing him under a developmental contract and assigning him to their "farm territory" Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he continued his training. During his time there, he wrestled as both The Prototype and Mr. P, and he held the Heavyweight Championship for three months and the Tag Team Championships (with Rico Constantino) for two.


World Wrestling Entertainment

2002–2003

Cena's first televised WWE match was in answer to a (kayfabe) open challenge by Kurt Angle on June 27, 2002. Inspired by a speech given by WWE CEO Vince McMahon to the rising stars of the company, exhorting them to show "ruthless aggression" to earn a place among the legends, Cena took advantage of the opportunity and almost beat Angle by kicking out of his Angle Slam and enduring the ankle lock submission hold. However, he ultimately lost to a hard, amateur-style pin. Following the near-win, Cena became a face and was put into a program with Chris Jericho. In October, Cena and Billy Kidman joined forces to take part in a tag team tournament to crown the first WWE Tag Team Champions of the SmackDown! brand, but lost in the first round. The next week, Cena was turned on and attacked Kidman, blaming him for their loss.

Shortly after the Kidman attack, on a Halloween themed episode of SmackDown!, Cena dressed as Vanilla Ice and performed a freestyle rap for Stephanie McMahon during a backstage segment. The next week, Cena received a new gimmick: a rapper who cut promos in rhyme. As the gimmick grew, he adopted a variant of the 80s WWF logo — dropping the "F" — as his "signature symbol", along with the slogan "Word Life". Moreover, he was joined by an enforcer, Bull Buchanan, who was rechristened B-2 (also written B² and pronounced "B-Squared"). Buchanan was later replaced by Rodney Mack under the moniker "Red Dogg", until he was sent to the Raw brand in February.

For the first half of 2003, Cena sought the WWE Championship and chased the reigning champion, Brock Lesnar, performing weekly "freestyles" challenging him to matches. During the program, Cena unveiled a new finishing maneuver: the FU, a Fireman's carry powerslam, so named to mock Lesnar's F-5. He got a match against Lesnar at April's Backlash by winning a #1 contenders tournament, but did not get the title. He finished out the year engaging in feuds with Spanky and Kurt Angle.


2004–2005

Cena, wearing his customized U.S. Championship beltIn early 2004, Cena participated in the Royal Rumble match at the annual January pay-per-view event, making it to the final six participants before being eliminated by the Big Show. The Royal Rumble elimination led to a feud between Big Show and Cena, during which Cena won the United States Championship from the Big Show at WrestleMania XX in March. During his reign, he came into contention with SmackDown! General Manager Kurt Angle over issues arising with René Duprée and Torrie Wilson. The reign ended just shy of four months when, on July 8, he was "stripped" of the belt by Angle after he (kayfabe, accidentally) knocked him over, thus "attacking an official". He won the title back by defeating Booker T in a "best of five" series that culminated at October's No Mercy, only to lose it to the debuting Carlito Caribbean Cool the next week. After the loss to Carlito, the duo began a feud, during which Cena was (kayfabe) stabbed in the kidney while at a Boston-area nightclub by Carlito's bodyguard, Jesús. This worked injury was used to keep Cena out of action for a month, during which Cena was actually filming his feature film debut The Marine. Immediately on his return in November, he won the US title back from Carlito, then debuted a "custom made" spinner style title belt.

Cena took part in the Royal Rumble in January 2005, this time making it to the final two. He and Raw brand wrestler Batista went over the top rope at the same time, ostensibly ending the match. However, Vince McMahon appeared on stage and re-started the match in "sudden death", with Batista eventually winning. The next month, Cena defeated Kurt Angle to earn a spot in the SmackDown! brand's WrestleMania 21 main event, beginning a feud with WWE Champion John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL) and his Cabinet in the process. In the opening stages of the feud Cena lost his US belt to Cabinet member Orlando Jordan, who proceeded to "blow up" the spinner version with JBL and return a more traditional style belt. When Cena and JBL met at WrestleMania, the title switched hands, giving Cena his first world title in the company. As part of the storyline, he then had a spinner WWE Championship belt made, while JBL took the original belt and claimed to still be WWE Champion, until Cena reclaimed the original belt in an "I Quit" match at Judgment Day.

Cena's SmackDown! tenure came to a close on the June 6, 2005 episode of WWE Raw, when he became the first wrestler selected by Raw brand General Manager Eric Bischoff in the annual draft lottery. Arriving on the Raw brand, Cena entered a program against Bischoff when he refused to participate in his "war" against the upcoming Extreme Championship Wrestling reunion show. With Bischoff vowing to make Cena's stint on Raw difficult, he "hand picked" Jericho to take Cena's title from him. During their feud, even though Cena was portrayed as the face and Jericho as the heel, a vocal section of live crowds nonetheless chose to boo Cena during their matches. More crowds followed suit during Cena's next feud with Kurt Angle, who took over as Bischoff's hand picked #1 contender after Cena beat Jericho in a "You're Fired" match on the August 22 Raw, sending him off the show. As the feud continued and the dissenters grew more vocal, sometimes seeming to outnumber fans by wide margins, the announce team was forced to acknowledge the boos on television and began calling Cena a "controversial champion", claiming some people disliked him on account of his "in-ring style" and his chosen fashion. Despite the mixed and negative reactions, Cena held on to his Championship through his feud with Angle, losing to him by disqualification — for which titles do not change hands in WWE — at Unforgiven in September and pinning him at Survivor Series in November. The feud with Angle also saw Cena add a secondary, submission based, finishing maneuver to his repertoire – the STFU (a Stepover Toehold Sleeper, though named for a Stepover Toehold Facelock) – when he was put into a (Triple Threat) Submissions Only match on the November 28 Raw.


2006–2007

Cena facing off against Edge at a WWE house show.Cena lost the WWE Championship at the first WWE pay-per-view of 2006, New Year's Revolution, but not in the Elimination Chamber match that he had been advertised to participate in beforehand. Instead, immediately after winning the Elimination Chamber, he was thrust into a match against Edge, who cashed in his Money in the Bank contract — a "guaranteed title match at the WWE Champion of the owners choosing" — and after two quick spears pinned Cena for the title. Cena's championship reign ended at 280 days, matching the length of previous champion JBL. Just three weeks later, Cena won the title back at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. After winning the Championship back Cena was put in to a program with Triple H, during which the crowd again seemed to boo the intended face (Cena) and cheer the intended heel (Triple H). The negative reaction only intensified when he faced Rob Van Dam (also cashing in a Money in the Bank contract, which he won at WrestleMania 22) at One Night Stand in June. Taking place in front of a crowd of mostly "old school" Extreme Championship Wrestling fans at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Cena was met with raucous jeering and chants of "f*** you, Cena", "You can't wrestle", and "Same old shit". When he began peppering different moves into the match the fans responded with a chant of "You still suck". Cena lost the WWE Championship for the second time in 2006 at One Night Stand, being pinned by Van Dam after interference from Edge.


Cena, addressing fans at a Raw show.In July, after Edge won the title from Van Dam in a Triple Threat match that also involved Cena, it re-ignited the feud between he and Cena from earlier in the year. After Edge went about retaining the title by dubious means — getting himself disqualified (for which Championships do not change hands), and using brass knuckles — he introduced his own version of Cena's "custom" belt, this one with his logo placed on the spinner. Cena eventually won the Championship back in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at September's Unforgiven pay-per-view, in a match that had an added stipulation that had Cena lost he would leave the Raw brand and go to SmackDown!. He returned his version of the spinner belt on the next night's Raw. On the heels of the Edge program, Cena was placed in an inter-brand angle to determine the so-called "Champion of Champions" — or which was the most dominate champion in WWE's three brands.Cena, King Booker (SmackDown!'s then World Heavyweight Champion), and Big Show (ECW's then World Champion) engaged in a mini-feud leading to a Triple Threat match at Cyber Sunday in November, with the viewers voting on which of the three championships would be placed on the line. At the same time, Cena became involved in a storyline with non-wrestler Kevin Federline when he began appearing on Raw with Johnny Nitro and Melina. After getting into a (worked) physical altercation with Federline on Raw, Federline appeared at Cyber Sunday to hit Cena with the World Heavyweight Title belt during the main event Triple Threat match, helping King Booker retain his title. 2006 ended with Cena beginning a feud with the undefeated Umaga over the WWE Championship, while 2007 began with the end of his storyline with Kevin Federline. In the first Raw of the new year, Cena was pinned by Federline (with an assist from Umaga), although later in the night he was able to get his hands on Federline to FU him. During their feud Cena ended Umaga's "undefeated" streak at New Year's Revolution before Umaga caused a (worked) injury to Cena's spleen, putting a scheduled Last Man Standing rematch at Royal Rumble in (kayfabe) jeopardy. The match did, however, take place and Cena retained his title.


Cena with the Tag Team Championship and the WWE ChampionshipOne night after the Royal Rumble, an impromptu team of Cena and Shawn Michaels defeated Rated-RKO (Edge and Randy Orton) for the World Tag Team Championship, making Cena a double champion. On the April 2 episode of Raw, after losing a WWE Championship match to Cena at WrestleMania 23, Michaels "turned" on Cena, costing them the team the Championship in the second of two 10 team battles royals by throwing Cena over the top rope and eliminating the team. The Hardys (Matt and Jeff) would eventually win the match and the title. For the rest of the month Cena feuded with Michaels, Orton, and Edge until The Great Khali declared his intentions to challenge for Cena's title by attacking and "laying out" all three of the top contenders before assaulting Cena himself and stealing the physical belt. For the next two months Cena feuded with Khali over the Championship, eventually becoming the first person in WWE to defeat him by submission at May's Judgment Day and then by pinfall at June's One Night Stand. Later that summer, prior to SummerSlam, Randy Orton was named the #1 contender to the WWE championship, starting a feud between the two. Leading up to the pay-per-view Orton delivered a number of sneak-attacks, hitting Cena with three RKOs, but in the actual match Cena retained the title, winning by pinfall. A rematch between the two occurred at Unforgiven, with Orton winning by disqualification after Cena ignored the referee's instructions and continued to beat on him in the corner.

On the October 1, 2007 episode of Raw, Cena suffered a legitimate torn pectoral muscle during a match with Mr. Kennedy while executing a hip toss. Though he finished the match and the ensuing attack from Randy Orton, surgery the following day found that his pectoralis major muscle was torn completely from the bone, requiring seven months to a year rehabilitation. As a result he was stripped of the title, as announced by Vince McMahon on the next night's episode of ECW, ending what was the longest WWE Championship reign in over 19 years. His surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Two weeks later, in a video update on WWE.com, Dr. Andrews and Cena's physical trainer both said that he was several weeks ahead of where he was expected to be in his rehabilitation at that time.

Stevie Richards

Michael Manna (born October 9, 1971) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its ECW brand. Best known by his ring name, Stevie Richards, Manna has previously worked for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and, briefly, World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

Stevie Richards was trained at Iron Mike Sharpe's wrestling school in Brick Township, New Jersey after being discovered by Dan Haney of the World Wide Wrestling Alliance based out of Colmar/Hatfield PA.


Extreme Championship Wrestling
On February 25, 1992, Steven Richards had the honor of being one of the participants in the first ever ECW match, in a 20-minute time limit draw with Jimmy Jannetty.

Before the arrival of Raven in ECW, "Dancin'" Stevie Richards had a 'meta gimmick' of mockingly adopting the persona of other wrestlers.

ECW announcer/color commentator Joey Styles frequently described the Richards character as a "clueless putz".

When it was announced that Scott Levy, then known by relatively lightweight gimmicks (ie, Scotty 'the Body' Anthony, Scotty Flamingo, and Johnny Polo), was coming to ECW, Richards began adopting and mocking those gimmicks. One of the first things Levy did in ECW in his new gimmick as Raven was thrash "Stevie Flamingo" soundly.

From that point on, Steven Richards acted as a flunkie for Raven in ECW, calling him "Boss".

While teaming with Raven, Richards won the ECW Tag Team Championship on two occasions.

After a dog collar match against The Pitbulls, which Richards lost, Stevie was thought of as a major superstar. Raven was in the locker room for most of that match.

Richards was also part of the bWo, a parody of the nWo. At one point, he hinted that he was bringing the band KISS to perform. It ended up being the bWo in KISS regalia, lip-synching. This was quickly 'cleaned up' by The Sandman.

The highlight of his ECW career was perhaps participating in the main event of the first ECW pay-per-view, Barely Legal. He wrestled Terry Funk and The Sandman in a Three Way Dance to determine the number one contender to the ECW World Championship.

Richards would also do a telephone line for ECW under the name, Lloyd Van Buren. However, he would not wrestle under that name.


World Championship Wrestling
In May of 1997, Stevie suffered a neck injury so severe that he announced his retirement, before recovering and signing with WCW. Many people, especially Paul Heyman, debate the legitimacy of the injury to this day. Stevie wrestled briefly as a member of Raven's Flock but failed his physical exams and left WCW in October of the same year. Stevie commented on The Rise and Fall of ECW DVD that Raven had told him that he was only there to be his "bitch lackey", and that he would get him fired if he pushed for more of a larger role, knowing both would suffer for demanding more than what was above their current status.


World Wrestling Entertainment
Stevie Richards, with the bWo, was one of the first ECW performers to perform on WWF programming, during a cross-promotional appearance.

In 1999, Richards went to the WWF in a full-time capacity. He would make his WWF debut on the August 15, 1999 episode of Sunday Night HEAT. After briefly using the Dude Love persona (he asked Mick Foley if he could use it and Foley agreed), being associated with the Dudley Boyz, bringing back the mocking gimmick, and teaming up with his old partner Blue Meanie, Richards got a haircut and formed a heel stable called Right to Censor (based on the WWF's then problems with the Parents Television Council organization). He changed his name to Steven Richards and became a manager for the many wrestlers that he recruited. When Chyna was featured in Playboy magazine, Richards demanded a match between Chyna's associate Eddie Guerrero and Val Venis. After Chyna had depantsed Richards leaving him in his white socks and blue briefs, costing Venis the match, Richards and his stable feuded against her.

Soon after the Right to Censor stable broke up, Richards joined The Alliance as the manager of KroniK briefly before Kronik was released. Richards remained on the brand's "B" shows until Team Alliance lost at Survivor Series 2001. Richards was fired along with the rest of the alliance roster by Vince McMahon until Ric Flair was able to save his job and get him drafted over to the RAW brand. There, Steven Richards began using the gimmick of a psychotic jobber and became a 22-time Hardcore Champion trading it several times with Bubba Ray Dudley, Booker T, Crash Holly, Shawn Stasiak, Justin Credible, Bradshaw, Terri, and Tommy Dreamer.

Richards eventually formed an alliance with Victoria in late 2002 as a psychotic couple helping each other win their matches. Richards also helped Victoria retain her WWE Women's Championship.

As Victoria started to make her latest face turn, the duo quietly separated. In August of 2004, Richards began dressing in drag and helping Victoria win matches. He was finally unmasked at Unforgiven when saving Victoria from then heel, Trish Stratus, and Tyson Tomko, but ended up losing an impromptu match to Tomko. Richards made a name for himself as one of the mainstays of Sunday Night HEAT and became the self-proclaimed "General Manager" of "Stevie Night HEAT". After the death of Richard's friend Crash Holly, Richards would wear tights with a similar design to the ones worn by Crash, as a tribute.

Richards's role as a jobber has been at times physically tasking and he was legitimately injured during the RAW debut match of Chris Masters in February 2005. After returning from injury, Richards faced Masters in a rematch but lost to Masters for a second time.

Richards made an appearance at the ECW reunion event ECW One Night Stand 2005, reuniting with his bWo comrades and proclaiming "We have only three words for you. We're – taking – over!"


SmackDown!
Richards was traded to SmackDown! on June 30, 2005 and reprised the bWo group with Nova and The Blue Meanie. At the Great American Bash, the bWo lost to The Mexicools (Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, and Super Crazy) in a six-man tag team match.

Richards went on to become the main eventer of WWE Velocity (much like his time on HEAT) and began slowly dropping the bWo gimmick as he jobbed to the likes of Hardcore Holly, Vito, and Booker T. After a while Steven Richards would not be used on WWE SmackDown! or even WWE Velocity, disappearing for over half a year. Richards made his return to the ring during an 18-Man pre-show Battle Royal before WrestleMania 22.


ECW
Shortly after the introduction of the ECW brand in 2006, Richards left the SmackDown! brand to join the ECW brand, starting with the WWE vs. ECW Head to Head show on June 7, 2006. Richards went on to appear on ECW's weekly show under his old ring name of Stevie Richards, though his Titantron video and the on-screen display would still refer to him as Steven.

Richards soon returned to his heel persona, selling out the other ECW Originals and siding with the newer stars. He picked up his first win on ECW's weekly show on September 5, 2006, against Balls Mahoney, after interference from Kevin Thorn, who was feuding with Mahoney at the time.

Richards was part of the new ECW brand's first pay-per-view, December to Dismember, defeating Rene Dupree in a pre-PPV dark match. At WWE One Night Stand 2007, he served as a lumberjack in the Kane vs. Mark Henry match.

Richards wrestled CM Punk six times from February to July 2007, losing each time.

In mid-2007, Richards turned face again due to fan reaction, and teamed with Tommy Dreamer against the New Breed on house shows, replacing Sandman (who was drafted to RAW) in the ECW Originals.

On July 24, 2007, Richards defeated Kevin Thorn in an upset after reversing a crucifix powerbomb into a backslide pin. This was Richards' first victory on WWE television since September 2006. A week later a re-match took place throughtout which Stevie was dominated, however he defeated Thorn once again via roll-up. On August 7, he got ambushed by Kevin Thorn while giving an interview backstage.

He would once again defeat Kevin Thorn on August 14 in a Singles Match on ECW by DQ after the referee declared a disqualification when Thorn continued to massively "destroy" Stevie Richards after Thorn had already won. He would then get revenge by ambushing Thorn while giving an interview the next week. Their feud would continue with Richards teaming up with Tommy Dreamer and CM Punk on different occasions agianst Thorn and Elijah Burke with Richards losing and winning a match. Richards was eliminated from the elimination tournament for the ECW Championship on the September 18 edition of ECW.

Rey Mysterio

Oscar Gutierrez (born December 11, 1974) better known by his ring name Rey Mysterio, is a Mexican-American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its SmackDown! brand. Despite competing as a cruiserweight for most of his career, he is a former World Heavyweight Champion, as well as an eight-time Cruiserweight Champion.

Mysterio is known for having a high flying style, which helped kick-start the cruiserweight revolution in the United States of America in the late 1990s - during his time in WCW.

Born in San Diego, California, Gutierrez trained for pro wrestling with his uncle, who wrestled under the name Rey Misterio. He debuted as a wrestler on April 30, 1989 at the age of 15 in a small church in Tijuana, Mexico. Technically, he was too young to receive a license, but enforcement was generally low. He began a feud with Psicosis (who had also been trained by Rey Misterio, Sr.) using the ring name Colibrí (Spanish for hummingbird). The feud lasted several years, continuing even after Mysterio's career moved to the United States of America.

When Gutierrez turned 18, his uncle allowed him to use the ring name Rey Misterio, Jr.. In Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) he feuded with Juventud Guerrera including a tag match with Rey Mysterio and Rey Misterio taking on Juventud and his father, Mr. Guerrera.


Extreme Championship Wrestling
In 1995, Misterio defeated Psicosis during their debut match on Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). This match was their first real impact in American professional wrestling - although they had previously been seen on the WCW promoted When Worlds Collide pay-per-view. Misterio, along with a number of other luchadores, became a featured attraction in ECW. Misterio would later appear at the first two WWE-promoted ECW One Night Stand reunion shows.


World Championship Wrestling (1996-2001)

1996-1997
Misterio went on to gain fame in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1996, where he was the flagship of the new "Cruiserweight Revolution" in the United States. The spelling of his name was partially anglicized as "Rey Mysterio Jr.", to further market him as a "mystery man." Mysterio had many famous matches with Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Psicosis, Eddie Guerrero, and Juventud Guerrera. He would go on to hold the WCW Cruiserweight Championship five times.

Mysterio quickly made an impact in WCW with his first Cruiserweight title reign. In October 1997, at Halloween Havoc, Mysterio won his second Cruiserweight Championship from real-life friend Eddie Guerrero in a "title vs. mask" match. The match was so highly acclaimed for its utter fluency and technicality that it was voted Match of the Year. At this point, Mysterio was a staple of WCW's roster.


1998-1999
After much feuding, Mysterio would lose the Cruiserweight title to Chris Jericho at WCW/nWo Souled Out on January 24, 1998. After the match, Jericho continued the beating using a toolbox found at ringside. This would put Mysterio on the sidelines for six months before making his return at Bash at the Beach 1998 where he defeated Chris Jericho for the championship. The next night however, the result was overturned and the belt returned to Jericho due to the interference of Dean Malenko.

In 1998, Eddie Guerrero formed a stable known as the Latino World Order (a spin off of New World Order) that included nearly every luchador in the promotion. Mysterio continually refused to join. He was finally forced to join after losing a match to Eddie Guerrero. As the two factions of nWo reformed - nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac - they demanded the LWO's disbanding. Mysterio refused to take off his LWO colors and was physically beaten as a result.

At Superbrawl IX Mysterio, alongside with Konnan would lose a tag team "hair vs. mask match" against the The Outsiders forcing Rey Mysterio, Jr. to remove his mask. After the match, he phoned his uncle to tell him of the news.

Mysterio would later become a "giant killer" by scoring upset victories over towering, powerhouse performers like Kevin Nash, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Scott Norton. He would also begin a successful tag team with Billy Kidman and join Master P's No Limit Soldiers. After Master P's departure from WCW, a new stable known as the Filthy Animals formed including Konnan, Eddie Guerrero, Kidman, and Mysterio.

On a 1999 edition of WCW Monday Nitro Mysterio beat Ric Flair via DQ.


2000-2001
Mysterio remained a steady performer, and eventually joined the New Blood faction in early 2000 opposing the "Millionaires Club." Throughout WCW's final months Mysterio and Kidman would then feud with tag teams such as Misfits in Action and Team Canada. Together, they would win the new WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles on the final edition of Monday Nitro before WCW was sold to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 2001. This would be Mysterio's last TV appearance for over a year.

During this time, Rey also made some appearances for the CMLL promotion in Mexico, wrestling without his mask.


World Wrestling Entertainment (2002-present)

2002-2003
In 2002, Rey signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and promos were aired hyping his debut. In WWE, he is known only as Rey Mysterio, with no 'Jr.' suffix (just as Chavo Guererro, Jr. and others are). Vince McMahon also requested that Mysterio wear his mask again. In Mexico, one could be fined or even have their license suspended in lucha libre by the Box y Lucha Commission for this; there, once a wrestler loses his mask, they cannot traditionally regain it. Mysterio began his WWE career on July 25, 2002 on SmackDown! as a babyface, in a match against Chavo Guerrero which Rey would win. After, he joined John Cena and Edge to feud with Kurt Angle and The Un-Americans (Lance Storm, Christian and Test).

On November 7, 2002, Rey won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Edge in a match against Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit, but after losing the titles at Survivor Series to Los Guerreros, they stopped tagging together. At WrestleMania XIX Rey challenged Matt Hardy for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship but was unsuccessful after interference by Shannon Moore. Mysterio finally beat Hardy for the title in June 5, 2003, in a match on Smackdown that took place in Anaheim. He later lost the title to Tajiri, with whom he feuded with until January.


2004-2005
Rey regained the cruiserweight title on the first episode of SmackDown! in January 2004.

Rey later began to feud with Chavo Guerrero, Jr. then they faced off at No Way Out for the Cruiserweight title. Then he battled Chavo's father Chavo Classic over the Cruiserweight Championship, in which he won back the title. During this time, Mysterio teamed on occasion with Rob Van Dam, or Spike Dudley to face off against the Dudley Boyz, and at one stage won a gauntlet match to get a shot at the WWE Championship title on the SmackDown after WrestleMania XX. But he lost the title match against Eddie Guerrero.

However, while Rey Mysterio was Cruiserweight Champion, Spike Dudley turned heel after plowing Rey through a table and joined the other Dudleys before taking the Cruiserweight title from Mysterio on 29 July, 2004.

Rey continued to team with Rob Van Dam, and won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Kenzo Suzuki and René Dupreé on 7 December before losing the titles to The Basham Brothers a month later after Van Dam got injured. Rey would team up with Eddie Guerrero to win the titles back from the Bashams at WWE No Way Out 2005. In a departure from traditional booking, the new champions did not defend their titles at WrestleMania 21, but instead had a match against each other which Rey won.

This led to a storyline in which Guerrero turned heel and beat him up after abandoning him during a rematch against the heel tag team MNM for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Then after a No DQ match against Chavo, Eddie came out and hit a brainbuster on the steel steps, which left Rey lain on the floor. Eddie was becoming increasingly frustrated that he could not beat Mysterio.

Guerrero and Rey continued to feud, with Guerrero threatening to reveal a secret he and Rey shared involving Rey's son, Dominic. He threatened to go public with the secret unless Rey deferred to Guerrero's authority. Guerrero later revealed that he was Dominic's (kayfabe) biological father. The storyline went that Guerrero knew Rey was having trouble starting his own family, so Guerrero left Dominic as a baby with Rey and his wife Angie to raise. In subsequent weeks, Guerrero threatened to take custody of Dominic, drawing up custody papers and having his lawyer present them to Mysterio. At SummerSlam 2005, Rey defeated Guerrero in a Ladder match for the custody of Dominic.

Rey then became engaged in a brief feud with John "Bradshaw" Layfield with JBL eventually coming out the victor at No Mercy 2005. On November 13, 2005, Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That same day at a WWE "Super Show" where SmackDown! and RAW were both taped, Mysterio gave an emotional speech about Eddie, and in a show of respect removed his mask (though he put his head down, so no one could see his face). Mysterio went on to defeat Shawn Michaels in an interpromotional match later that night. After the match, Michaels and Mysterio hugged in the ring and Mysterio pointed up to the sky, crying, in memory of Eddie Guerrero. This began a span of weeks wherein Mysterio, along with friends Chris Benoit and Chavo Guerrero, dedicated their victories to Eddie either by word or by using his moves during his matches; "Eddie" chants continued to follow Rey and Chavo Guerrero in their matches for a few months.

Mysterio participated in the main event of Survivor Series (2005) as part of Team SmackDown! along with Randy Orton, (Eddie Guerrero's replacement), Bobby Lashley, Batista and JBL who defeated Team RAW (Shawn Michaels, Kane, Big Show, Carlito, and Chris Masters). On the Tuesday after Survivor Series, Mysterio faced Big Show from RAW, in a match billed as David vs. Goliath in a SmackDown! special show.

The match stemmed from Mysterio eliminating Big Show at Survivor Series, and ended as a "no contest" when Big Show's tag team partner, Kane, interfered in the match. Mysterio continued to feud with RAW's World Tag Team Champions, even finding a tag team partner in World Heavyweight Champion Batista who, along with Mysterio, would be set to face RAW Kane and Big Show in a tag match at Armageddon 2005.

Before Armageddon, Batista and Mysterio defeated MNM to become SmackDown!'s new WWE Tag Team Champions, in a match they both dedicated to Eddie Guerrero. Now the Tag Team Champions, Mysterio and Batista's match with Big Show and Kane was billed as Champions vs. Champions. Mysterio and Batista lost this RAW vs SmackDown! match when Kane pinned Mysterio after a chokeslam.

On the December 30, 2005 edition of SmackDown!, MNM invoked their rematch clause, defeating Batista and Mysterio with help from the returning Mark Henry to regain the WWE Tag Team Championship after an assault on Batista by Henry. Rey and Batista then lost a steel cage match thanks to Henry.


2006-2007

Mysterio during a WWE house show.On January 29, 2006 Rey Mysterio competed in the Royal Rumble, entering in the number 2 position, and later eliminating Randy Orton to win the match . By winning the Royal Rumble, Mysterio earned a World Heavyweight title shot at that years WrestleMania. By lasting over 62 minutes in the match, Mysterio also set a Royal Rumble record for longevity and size.

Rey dedicated his performance at the Royal Rumble to Eddie Guerrero. After his win, he was congratulated by Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, Chavo Guerrero and Rob Van Dam - all close friends and family of Eddie Guerrero.

During the February 3, 2006 episode of SmackDown!, an upset Randy Orton interrupted Mysterio's victory speech. Orton challenged Mysterio to a match for his WrestleMania World title shot. As Rey looked upward for guidance on this decision Orton verbally attacked him and the memory of Guerrero, saying "Eddie ain't in heaven, Eddie's 'down there'-- IN HELL!" Mysterio attacked Orton and later accepted the challenge.

At No Way Out Randy Orton defeated Rey Mysterio while illegally using the ropes to get the pin. Having lost the title shot at WrestleMania 22, Rey went backstage with a few members of Guerrero's close family. However on the next edition of Smackdown!, the SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long added Rey, making the match a Triple Threat match for the World Heavyweight Title. At WrestleMania 22, Rey faced off against both Randy Orton and then-World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle. Mysterio won the match by pinning Randy Orton after a combination of "The 619" and "The West Coast Pop" to win his first World Heavyweight Championship.

On the April 7, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, Rey Mysterio, who was billed as being an "underdog champion," made his first World Heavyweight Title defense against Randy Orton. Mysterio went on to retain his title again during a WrestleMania rematch on SmackDown! against Kurt Angle, three weeks later. The week before the title defense took place saw the start of a feud between then United States Champion John Bradshaw Layfield and Mysterio. The rivalry kicked off after JBL stated he deserved the World Heavyweight title during his celebration of becoming the U.S. Champion.

The feud with JBL saw Mysterio face off against any opponent of JBL's choosing in the three weeks leading up to his title match against Mysterio at WWE Judgment Day 2006. Mysterio was defeated by Mark Henry and The Great Khali in separate non-title matches before facing RAW's Kane in a match that went to a no contest. Mysterio retained his title against JBL at Judgement Day. JBL lost the US Championship to Bobby Lashley five days later on SmackDown! after being tricked by Mysterio to take on all comers like he had. This led JBL to vow that if he didn't win his rematch against Mysterio, he would quit SmackDown!. In the main event of the evening Mysterio won and retained the World Heavyweight Championship, causing JBL to (kayfabe) leave SmackDown!, until ECW One Night Stand, when JBL announced he would return as color commentator (in reality, JBL had lime build up in his liver that forced him to retire from the ring indefinitely).

At One Night Stand, it was revealed that Rey would have to defend his title against ECW wrestler Sabu. In the weeks leading up to his title defense, Mysterio defeated WWE Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms in a Champion vs. Champion match and was defeated by Rob Van Dam at WWE vs. ECW Head to Head on June 7, 2006. Immediately after WWE vs. ECW, WWE.com reported that Paul Heyman approached Mysterio about switching brands to ECW. Rey announced on the June 9, 2006 edition of SmackDown! that he would stay "home", on WWE's SmackDown!. At One Night Stand, Mysterio (who was wearing a mask with the letters "ECW" written on the back, despite being a face and booed by ECW fans) retained his title in a hard fought match after he and Sabu were ruled unable to continue following a triple jump DDT through a table from Sabu.

Mysterio would later defend his title against Mark Henry. Mysterio won the match, after Chavo Guerrero came to the ring as the referee was down and hit the "World's Strongest Man" with a steel chair. When the referee regained consciousness, Rey had used a trick of Eddie Guerrero's and pretended to be knocked out and left the challenger holding the chair and eventually won via DQ. Mysterio would then start a feud with King Booker after Booker won a Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. King Booker attacked Rey from behind backstage with the help of Booker's wife Queen Sharmell. The attack was not shown live and was during the beating of Mark Henry by Batista. The footage was aired the week later on SmackDown! and was followed by Mysterio attacking the King and his "court."

This rivalry continued for several weeks and saw Mysterio defeating King Booker's royal court member William Regal on an edition of SmackDown!, moments before attacking the challenger and hitting him with a 619 around the steel post. During Saturday Night's Main Event, Mysterio defeated King Booker in a six man tag match and again days later on SmackDown! in singles action. At The Great American Bash, Rey lost the World Heavyweight Championship to King Booker after Chavo Guerrero turned on Rey and hit him with a steel chair. Then on one edition of SmackDown!, Rey Mysterio challenged Chavo Guerrero in a I Quit match. In that match, Chavo injured (kayfabe) Mysterio's knee, causing him to take time off wrestling.

Mysterio made a successful in-ring return at SummerSlam 2007, defeating Chavo Guerrero with the 619, after Guerrero had obsessed over Mysterio's return, wanting to injure Mysterio again. On the August 31 edition of Smackdown!, Mysterio won a "Championship Competition" to become the number 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Batista and Finlay. On the September 7th edition of Smackdown, Mysterio had a I Quit Match with Chavo Guerrero. Mysterio won the match by hitting Guerrero's knee with a chair repeatedly, winning the match in a similar manner to which Mysterio had been put out of action. Mysterio then began a feud with The Great Khali which would lead to a match at Unforgiven where he would face Khali for the World Heavyweight Championship (the match was eventually made a Triple Threat match also involving Batista) but was unsuccessful in capturing the title. On October 28, he beat Finlay in a Stretcher match (the other two choices being shilleligh on a pole match and No DQ match) at Cyber Sunday.

Big Daddy V

Nelson Frazier, Jr. (born February 14, 1972) is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring names Mabel and Viscera. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestling on its ECW brand under the ring name Big Daddy V.

Throughout his career he has held championships in a number of promotions, including the top titles of the United States Wrestling Association off-shoots Memphis Wrestling and Memphis Championship Wrestling, and the World Wrestling Council promotion of Puerto Rico. He's also held the Hardcore and World Tag Team titles of WWE, the company where he's spent the majority of his career.

World Wrestling Federation (1993-1995)
Frazier began his professional wrestling career under the ring name Nelson Knight, comprising the team The Harlem Knights with his partner and kayfabe brother Bobby. The team wrestled in the United States Wrestling Association and the Pro Wrestling Federation (PWF), winning the PWF Tag Team Championship on two occasions, before being signed by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in July 1993.

Upon coming to the WWF, the Harlem Knights were given a new gimmick: Nelson (Frazier) became Mabel, Bobby became Mo and they were given a rapping manager named Oscar. Together the new team, dubbed Men on a Mission, was introduced to the WWF audience through vignettes, which was fairly standard practice at the time, that attempted to get the team across as three African American men trying to make a positive change in inner city neighborhoods—hence the team name. The group, constantly clad in purple, debuted as solid faces, in the tag team division and held the Tag Team Championship once, but only for two days.

In 1995, Mabel and Mo turned on and attacked Oscar, becoming heels. As a heel, Mabel received a push as a singles wrestler, culminating with his winning the King of the Ring tournament in May, with Mo acting as a manager.

Now King of the Ring, Mabel was addressed as King Mabel, with Mo similarly having his name changed to Sir Mo for his full time role as manager. Distinctly enough, during his tenure as King of the Ring, Mabel had a championship belt designed and created by belt creator Reggie Parks proclaiming the wearer to be "King of the Ring". As the World Wrestling Federation has never created a belt for the King of the Ring winner, Mabel's belt is one of a kind. Mabel challenged WWF Champion Diesel at August's SummerSlam but lost. Following this, he became involved in the Yokozuna versus The Undertaker feud, taking turns dropping legs across the Undertaker's face with Yokozuna until they kayfabe fractured his orbital bone following a match. Two months later, the Undertaker defeated King Mabel in a Casket match at the December 1995 In Your House: Season's Beatings pay-per-view. Mabel's last appearance with the company came at the Royal Rumble the next month, participating in the Royal Rumble match.


Post-WWF (1995-1998)
For December 1995 and the first part of January 1996, Mabel took dual bookings with the World Wrestling Federation and the Puerto Rico based World Wrestling Council. In WWC, he engaged in a feud with Carly Colon, during which the Universal Heavyweight Championship was "held up" following a match between the two of them before Mabel won the championship and held it for a month.

He was released from the WWF in early 1996 and spent much the next two years in Tennessee wrestling for the United States Wrestling Association, which went through a number of changes during his stay to become Memphis Championship Wrestling and Memphis Wrestling. While there, he captured the top title twice.


World Wrestling Federation (1998-2000)
On July 6, 1998 Mabel made a one time, surprise return to the World Wrestling Federation to challenge, and lose to, the new King of the Ring: Ken Shamrock.

He made an official return in 1999, first appearing at the pre-show for the Royal Rumble, before appearing on the show itself, on which he was "kidnapped" by The Undertaker, his Acolytes (Bradshaw and Faarooq) and Mideon. The next night, he was re-christened Viscera, and he began acting as the Ministry of Darkness' enforcer, adopting a more gothic look in the process, including white-out contact lenses, a bleached mohawk, and a black bodysuit.

After the July 1999 break up of the Ministry, the Viscera character floated around the mid-card, frequently teaming with fellow former Ministry member Mideon and becoming part of the burgeoning hardcore division -- winning the Hardcore Championship once before he parted ways with the company again in 2000.


Post-WWF (2003-2004)
In March 2003, Frazier, using his Nelson Knight name, made a surprise appearance at a weekly NWA: Total Nonstop Action pay-per-view at the side of Ron Killings. He appeared again the next week, but did not stay with the company beyond that.

He made a number of other independent appearances, including returning to the Memphis area where he wrestled for Memphis Championship Wrestling, holding the Southern Heavyweight Championship once, and Southern Wrestling Alliance, holding that company's top title as well.


World Wrestling Entertainment

2004-2006

Viscera, the World's Largest Love Machine.Frazier, returning to the Viscera name, returned to the World Wrestling Federation — now renamed World Wrestling Entertainment — in September 2004. In his first appearance, he and fellow former Ministry of Darkness member Gangrel surprised and attacked the one-time stable leader, The Undertaker, on behalf of former Ministry Acolyte John "Bradshaw" Layfield. After just two weeks on SmackDown!, however, he was moved to the RAW brand.

In his first three months on the RAW brand, Viscera mainly wrestled on RAW's sister show HEAT, only making sporadic appearances on the actual RAW show. He had his first major angle on the brand in April 2005 when he was aligned with Trish Stratus to take part in a feud against Lita and her kayfabe husband Kane. While they were working together, Viscera and Stratus were featured in a segment during which he attempted to "seduce" her, only to be rebuffed until he "took care of" Kane. That segment began a gimmick change for Viscera, who transformed in to "The World's Largest Love Machine"; he started wrestling his matches wearing pajamas and making overtly sexual gestures in the ring. He was also put into an angle where he was smitten with RAW ring announcer Lilian Garcia and tried different tactics to seduce her every week. At the June Vengeance pay-per-view Garcia reciprocated, proposing to him in the center of the ring, only to get turned down and left in the ring crying when The Godfather arrived with a number of his "hos" to show Viscera what he would "be leaving behind" if he got married.

After the Lilian Garcia storyline ended, Viscera was paired with the like minded "ladies man" Val Venis to form the tag team V-Squared. They teamed together for nearly nine months, mainly on HEAT. They challenged for the Tag Team Title on a few occasions, but they never held the title. When Venis was put out of action with a legitimate injury in April 2006, Viscera went back to singles wrestling. His first storyline back on his own was an attempt to reconcile with Lilian Garcia, only to be interrupted and attacked by Umaga during his proposal. Two weeks later, when Garcia was (legitimately, accidentally) knocked from the ring apron by Charlie Haas, spraining her wrist; the incident was worked into a storyline. Haas and Viscera began fighting over Garcia — after Haas apologized — and then both men turned on her and formed a tag team when she declared she only wanted to be friends. However, the team was split when Haas was put back together with Shelton Benjamin to reform The World's Greatest Tag Team.


2007-present
On June 17, 2007, Frazier was sent from the RAW brand to ECW in the supplemental section of WWE's draft. Three weeks later, he debuted on ECW's weekly television program repackaged as Big Daddy V, a powerhouse "hired gun" character in the employ of Matt Striker, arriving just in time to help Striker in his feud with The Boogeyman. After dispatching the Boogeyman, Big Daddy V defeated Tommy Dreamer in the ECW brands Elimination Chase to become the #1 contender for the ECW Championship at No Mercy, but lost to CM Punk by disqualification at the pay-per-view when Matt Striker interfered in the match.

Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin (born July 9, 1975) is an American professional wrestler and former amateur wrestler signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) working on its Raw brand.

Benjamin has an amateur wrestling background, including wrestling in high school and at the University of Minnesota. After spending time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE moved him to the SmackDown! brand. During his tenure with the company, he has won the WWE Intercontinental Championship three times, and he has held the WWE Tag Team Championship and OVW Southern Tag Team Championship two and four times, respectively. He is currently one half of The World's Greatest Tag Team with Charlie Haas.

Benjamin has also acted as an assistant coach in amateur wrestling. His has an extensive interest in video games, winning the WWE THQ Superstar Challenge four times before retiring from the contest.

Amateur wrestling
Benjamin grew up in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he was an accomplished amateur wrestler. He began wrestling while in the 10th grade at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. While in high school, he achieved a 122–10 win-loss record and was a two-time South Carolina state high school heavyweight wrestling champion, earning the title in both 1993 and 1994. He also was a Junior College National Track Champion in the 100 metre and won the junior college national wrestling heavyweight title in 1996 while attending Lassen Junior College in Susanville, California. He was then accepted to attend the University of Minnesota, where he achieved a 36–6 win-loss record. Moreover, while attending the university, he was a two-time All-American heavyweight wrestler. After graduation, he served as an assistant coach at the University and trained with future OVW tag team partner Brock Lesnar. In 1997, Benjamin went 36–6 and made 12 pins in the Big Ten Championship, in which he placed 6th. Instead of trying to qualify for the 2000 Olympics, Benjamin decided instead to try and pursue a professional wrestling career.


Ohio Valley Wrestling
Benjamin was offered and accepted a contract from World Wrestling Entertainment and was placed in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) as one half of a tag team with Brock Lesnar, who was a wrestling teammate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Together they were known as the "Minnesota Stretching Crew", and they held the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship on three occasions. The first two reigns occurred during February and July 2001. They were booked to win the titles for a third time from Rico Constantino and The Prototype on October 29, 2001. After Lesnar was called up to the main roster in November 2001, Benjamin formed a tag team with Redd Dogg Begnaud called "The Dogg Pound" and once again won the OVW Southern Tag Team Title on July 17, 2002.


World Wrestling Entertainment

2002–2003
He was offered a WWE contract in September 2002. He joined WWE's SmackDown! brand as a heel on December 26, 2002 and formed Team Angle along with Charlie Haas, with Olympic gold-medalist wrestler Kurt Angle as their kayfabe mentor. Their first official match together in WWE was on the January 2, 2003 edition of SmackDown! against Edge and Chris Benoit. They continued their storyline feud with Benoit until No Way Out 2003, when Benoit teamed with Brock Lesnar to defeat Team Angle.

The duo were booked to win their first WWE Tag Team Championship just a month after their debut by defeating the champions, Los Guerreros (Eddie and Chavo Guerrero) on February 6, 2003. The two then went on to compete in their first WrestleMania match at WrestleMania XIX, retaining their tag title in a triple threat match against Los Guerreros and Chris Benoit and Rhyno. Team Angle later dropped the title to Eddie Guerrero and his new partner Tajiri at Judgment Day 2003 in a ladder match.

The angle concluded on the June 12, 2003 SmackDown!, when Angle kayfabe confronted Benjamin and Haas and fired them from Team Angle. They began referring to themselves as The World's Greatest Tag Team, and "won" the tag title back on the July 3 edition of SmackDown!. They dropped the title on September 18, after Benjamin suffered a legitimate knee injury during a match against Los Guerreros. He was sidelined for approximately one month, but the pair competed together again, taking part in a fatal four-way WWE Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania XX.


2004–2005

Shelton Benjamin at a house show in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.On March 22, 2004, Benjamin was booked to be moved to the Raw brand as part of the 2004 Draft Lottery. After arriving, Benjamin quickly became a face when he was booked to win a pinfall victory over Triple H. Benjamin then "feuded" with Triple H, beating him three times in total: once by pinfall, once by countout and once by disqualification. As part of the storyline, Benjamin then feuded with the other members of Triple H's stable Evolution. Benjamin defeated Ric Flair at Backlash 2004 and lost to Randy Orton in a WWE Intercontinental Championship match at Bad Blood 2004.

During a match with Lance Cade on Heat, Benjamin punched Cade's kneebrace, legitmately breaking his hand in the process, briefly taking him out of action. Benjamin returned in the fall of 2004 and was chosen by the fans to compete for the Intercontinental Championship in a match against then-champion Chris Jericho at Taboo Tuesday. Benjamin was booked to win the match, giving him his first singles title in the company. During his reign as Intercontinental Champion, Benjamin retained the title against challengers such as Christian at Survivor Series in November, Maven at January's New Year's Revolution, and Chris Jericho at Backlash in May. Benjamin finally dropped the title to Carlito when he debuted on Raw during the June 20, 2005 episode, ending the longest Intercontinental Championship reign of the decade.

While he was Intercontinental Champion, Benjamin also participated in the first Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21 but came up short. He later lost a match on Raw against Shawn Michaels in the "Gold Rush tournament", but whilst losing, it was considered one of the greatest matches of the year. For months afterwards, Benjamin "jobbed" to wrestlers on the Raw roster such as Carlito, Chris Masters, Snitsky, and Rob Conway. Benjamin then engaged in a brief "feud" with Kerwin White (Chavo Guerrero's golfer gimmick) and his caddy Nick Nemeth.

Benjamin's next storyline began on the December 5, 2005 edition of Raw, when Shawn Michaels was scripted to give Benjamin a speech to get him "psyched" for their tag match together later in the night. As Michaels was preparing to finish the match, Benjamin tagged himself in and "missed" a crossbody, allowing Carlito to pin Benjamin. Benjamin was booked into a storyline "losing streak" over the next several weeks, which led to Benjamin's noisy, scolding and domineering "Momma" (played by comedian/actress Thea Vidale) coming to Raw to confront Benjamin about his losing streak. Momma slapped and yelled at Benjamin anytime he lost a match. Before long, she assisted Benjamin in his matches, often interfering on his behalf. This led to a second heel run for Benjamin.


2006-2007
In 2006, Benjamin feuded with then-Intercontinental Champion Ric Flair. On the February 20, 2006 edition of Raw, Benjamin, with Momma at ringside, "defeated" Flair to regain the Intercontinental Championship after Momma faked a heart problem, causing enough of a distraction to allow Benjamin to cheat and win the title. Benjamin continued to feud with Flair, but Momma no longer accompanied him to ringside. As part of the on-going angle, Benjamin, in kayfabe, stated that she was undergoing heart surgery in the hospital, and that he held Flair responsible.

Benjamin competed in the second Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 22. He "feuded" with the winner of that match, Rob Van Dam, in an attempt to take RVD's Money in the Bank contract. During this time, Benjamin emphasized his heel turn with a new gimmick: wearing shades, jewelry, and occasional colored shirts while entering the ring. At one point, Benjamin was defeated by his former tag team partner, the returning Charlie Haas, during an episode of Raw. A predetermined stipulation added to this loss meant that Benjamin had to defend the Intercontinental Title in the same match as his shot at Van Dam's contract, meaning at Backlash 2006 it would be a "Winner Takes All" match. Rob Van Dam came out on top at Backlash to take Benjamin's Intercontinental title. Benjamin regained the title from Rob Van Dam in a Tornado tag team match, pitting Benjamin, Triple H and Chris Masters against Van Dam and WWE Champion John Cena. Both the WWE Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship could be won by whoever pinned the appropriate champion. After Triple H pedigreed Van Dam, he turned his attention to John Cena and went for the pin on the WWE Champion. In accordance with the predetermined outcome of the match, Benjamin got to Van Dam first, picking up the pin and his third Intercontinental Championship.

Subsequently, Benjamin kayfabe feuded with Carlito and others for his Intercontinental Championship before dropping the title to Johnny Nitro in a triple threat match also involving Carlito at Vengeance 2006.

During late 2006, Benjamin began a new racial gimmick and storyline by kayfabe complaining of how other African American wrestlers reflected a negative stereotype, and that he was being discriminated against in the company because he was black. During December 2006, Benjamin's former tag team partner Charlie Haas came out to celebrate with Benjamin after he defeated Super Crazy. The World's Greatest Tag Team was officially reunited when they defeated the Highlanders on the December 11, 2006 episode of Raw. The duo "feuded" with Cryme Tyme and competed mainly on Heat.

In the fall of 2007, Shelton Benjamin was pushed to compete in several number one contender matches for the Intercontinental Championship, often losing to Jeff Hardy and Santino Marella. After Hardy won the title, Shelton challenged for the title, but did not win it.

Kane

Glen Thomas Jacobs (born April 26, 1967) better known by his ring name Kane, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on its Smackdown! brand. Jacobs is a 1 time AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion and as the Kane character in the WWE he has won the WWE Championship once, the Tag Team Championship 9 times (1 time WCW Tag Team Champion and 9 time World Tag Team Champion), The WWE Hardcore Champion once and the Intercontinental Championship twice.

Early career
Jacobs began his professional wrestling career in 1992. He was first known as Angus King when he debuted in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Jacobs later moved south and began wrestling as Unabomb, appearing in the United States Wrestling Association, Smoky Mountain Wrestling (where held the SMW Tag Team Championship with Al Snow). He also competed in the Japanese shoot style promotion Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi under his own name. Jacobs made his debut with the then World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as Dr. Issac Yankem DDS, Jerry "the King" Lawler's private dentist. (The name was a pun, "I. Yank'em", as in "I yank teeth".) He wrestled Bret Hart for "The King" on many occasions, including hanging Bret by twisting him in the top and middle rope by his neck. He also competed as the fake "Diesel" when Jim Ross brought him in with a fake "Razor Ramon" after the originals (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) left for WCW.


World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1997-present)

1997-1998
In October 1997, Jacobs was repackaged as Kane, the younger half-brother of The Undertaker. He re-debuted in the WWF at Badd Blood 1997 on October 5, 1997, costing The Undertaker the victory in the first ever Hell in a Cell match with then WWF European Champion Shawn Michaels. Kane and The Undertaker feuded with one another over the following year, during which time their history vis-à-vis one another was expounded upon.

Jacobs first wrestled as the Kane character in a match against Mankind at the 1997 Survivor Series. In the weeks prior on RAW, Kane had randomly attacked other wrestlers including Ahmed Johnson and Mankind's alter ego Dude Love. The Undertaker initially refused to fight him, saying he would not fight his own "flesh and blood" for show. After a brief partnership, Kane betrayed his brother by interfering in The Undertaker's WWF Championship title match with Shawn Michaels at the 1998 Royal Rumble, costing him the title once again. After the match, Kane locked The Undertaker in a casket and set it on fire. This provoked The Undertaker into returning to defeat Kane at WrestleMania XIV on March 29, 1998. They continued to feud until Unforgiven 1998 on April 26, 1998, when The Undertaker defeated Kane in an inferno match with slight help from Vader.

On May 19, 1998, Kane was revealed to be the result of a furtive union between The Undertaker's mother and Paul Bearer, an employee at the funeral home in Death Valley owned by The Undertaker's parents. When Kane and The Undertaker were children, Kane "accidentally" burned down the funeral home, killing their parents and hideously scarring himself both physically and mentally (the parents of The Undertaker are supposedly buried somewhere on Long Island); and both The Undertaker and Kane thinking each other died in the fire. During an episode of RAW taped on Long Island Kane and Bearer ostensibly exhumed their bodies and brought them to the arena). Bearer, who survived the fire, hid Kane in a mental asylum as he grew up and went on to form an alliance with The Undertaker (the details of "Kane's" early life were recounted in the book Journey into Darkness). After suffering mistreatment at the hands of The Undertaker, Bearer opted to bring Kane in to the WWF in order to gain vengeance upon The Undertaker.

The Kane character is portrayed as being psychologically unstable: depressed, schizophrenic, extremely violent and quick to anger. Like his half-brother, Kane is supposedly able to summon fire and bolts of lightning at will (although this particular talent has been alternately emphasised or de-emphasised depending upon the creative direction of the WWF at the time).

After defeating The Undertaker to win a WWF Championship title shot, Kane won the WWF Championship at the 1998 King of the Ring, defeating Steve Austin in a First Blood match. If Kane had lost, the match stipulations required that he set himself on fire. The next night on Raw, Kane lost the title back to Stone Cold. He went on to form a tag team with Mankind, with whom he won the WWF Tag Team Championship. After losing the titles and turning on Mankind, Kane formed a short lived tag team with his brother. The brothers fought one another for the vacant WWF Championship at Judgment Day 1998, with the match ending in a no-contest. During the match, the Undertaker betrayed Kane for Paul Bearer, thus turning Kane face and Undertaker heel. Kane went on to take part in the "Deadly Games" tournament for the WWF Championship at the 1998 Survivor Series but was eliminated by The Undertaker in the quarter-finals.


1999-2000
In 1999, Kane joined The Corporation. He eventually turned face after he was betrayed by Corporation member Chyna and thrown out of the stable. Shortly afterward, Kane formed a tag team with X-Pac. While teaming with X-Pac, Kane evolved from being mute to aided speech through an electrolarynx to speaking (albeit infrequently) unaided (with his first words being "suck it") and acquired a girlfriend, Tori. The tag team broke apart when X-Pac rejoined D-Generation X. In the course of their feud, Tori betrayed Kane and joined D-Generation X, and the former partners engaged in a lengthy feud that finally ended at WrestleMania 2000, where Kane triumphed over his former partner.

Shortly after WrestleMania, Kane suffered a hand injury that kept him out of action for a month. When he returned, it was to help The Undertaker and The Rock fight off the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. His involvement in this feud culminated in a main event match at King of the Ring 2000 against Vince and Shane McMahon, and then Champion Triple H. The Undertaker and Kane's rivalry resurfaced during the match, but they patched their relationship up soon after. Kane later turned heel once again by assaulting The Undertaker, leading to a match between the two at SummerSlam 2000. The match ended when The Undertaker removed Kane's mask, causing him to flee the ring, covering his face.

Kane stayed in contention for the WWF Championship for the remainder of the year, and ended 2000 in a feud with Chris Jericho ultimately losing to him in a last man standing match.


2001-2002
Kane reformed his alliance with The Undertaker immediately before the 2001 Royal Rumble (in which he eliminated a record number of wrestlers, 11, and was the runner-up). In early 2001, Kane competed for the WWF Hardcore Championship, defeating Raven for the title at WrestleMania X-Seven in a match that also featured Big Show. At the same time, Kane began teaming with The Undertaker as the "Brothers of Destruction". In the course of the year, they feuded with Edge and Christian, Rikishi and Haku and The Two-Man Power Trip. While feuding with The Two-Man Power Trip, Kane defeated Triple H at Judgment Day 2001 to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. He later lost the title to Albert on an episode of SmackDown! following interference from Diamond Dallas Page.

During The Invasion, Kane and The Undertaker feuded with Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Kanyon after Page began stalking The Undertaker's wife Sara. The feud culminated at SummerSlam 2001, when Kane and The Undertaker defeated Page and Kanyon in a steel cage match, resulting in them holding both the WWF World Tag Team Championship and the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Kane and The Undertaker went on to defeat KroniK at Unforgiven 2001, and both participated in the ten man survivor series match at the 2001 Survivor Series as members of "Team WWF".


Kane with a mask in 2003.In 2002, Kane began feuding with Kurt Angle, whom he lost to at WrestleMania X8. On March 25, 2002, the WWF was divided into two "brands", RAW and SmackDown!, with Kane being drafted to RAW. Kane went on to feud with the nWo until tearing his biceps. Kane returned to a rebranded WWE as part of the RAW roster in the summer of 2002. He won the World Tag Team Championship with The Hurricane on the September 23 edition of RAW from Lance Storm and Christian. On September 30 Kane won the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Chris Jericho, despite interference from Triple H and Ric Flair. On October 7, 2002, Kane successfully single-handedly defended the World Tag Team Championship in a four team Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match (TLC) (The Hurricane had been attacked earlier that evening and was thus unable to compete).

In October 2002, Kane began feuding with Triple H, leading to a match at No Mercy 2002 on October 20, 2002 in which both Kane's Intercontinental Championship and Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship were at stake. In the weeks preceding the match, Triple H claimed that, several years earlier, Kane had had an unrequited relationship with a woman named Katie Vick. He went on to claim that, after Vick was killed in a car crash, Kane (the driver) raped her corpse. Triple H later threatened to show video footage of Kane committing the act in question; however, the footage that finally aired showed Triple H (dressed as Kane) simulating necrophilia with a mannequin in a casket. The storyline was very unpopular with fans,[citation needed] and was de-emphasised before the title match. Triple H went on to defeat Kane at No Mercy, unifying the two titles.


2003-2004
Kane formed a tag team with Rob Van Dam, with the duo eventually winning the World Tag Team Championship. After they lost their World Tag Team Championship to La Resistance on Bad Blood 2003, Triple H offered Kane a spot in his stable "Evolution". RAW Co-General Manager "Stone Cold" Steve Austin offered Kane the opportunity to face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship if he rejected Triple H's offer; however, Co-General Manager Eric Bischoff insisted that Kane unmask should he lose the match. Kane accepted Austin's offer and went to challenge Triple H the following week in Madison Square Garden. Triple H won the match following interference from his stablemates, and on the June 23, 2003 RAW, Kane removed his mask (and, in the process, his "hair"-Jacobs had his hair cut and half his head shaved for this particular night, prior to this he had longer hair, as shown in one instance where Kane's mask was taken off inadvertently and he ran to the back covering his face, with no wig in place), revealing that his face was not actually scarred. He then immediately turned heel by chokeslamming Van Dam, who he went on to defeat at SummerSlam 2003. In an interview with Jim Ross, it became apparent that Kane's facial scars were actually mental scars (this explanation ignored instances in which other wrestlers had recoiled upon seeing Kane's unmasked face). At the end of this interview, Kane, believing that he was being mocked, attacked Ross and set him on fire.

Unmasking rendered Kane emotionally unstable, on one occasion driving him to Tombstone Linda McMahon on the RAW stage. This action sparked a feud between Kane and Linda's son Shane, with Kane defeating Shane in a Last Man Standing match at Unforgiven 2003 and an ambulance match at the 2003 Survivor Series. During the latter event, Kane interfered in a Buried Alive match between Vince McMahon and The Undertaker, helping McMahon bury The Undertaker and win the match. He had previously helped Stone Cold Steve Austin bury Undertaker in a match at Rock Bottom: In Your House in 1998.

In January 2004, Kane took part in the 2004 Royal Rumble match. He was eliminated after his brother's infamous bell tolled, distracting and distressing Kane and enabling Booker T to eliminate him from the ring. Over the following weeks, Kane repeatedly insisted that The Undertaker was "dead", only to be met with various paranormal incidents such as a rainstorm localized over the ramp on which he stood. The Undertaker finally returned at WrestleMania XX (with Paul Bearer at his side), defeating Kane.

Following his defeat at WrestleMania XX, Kane fell in love with Lita, but was spurned. This led to him kidnapping Lita in May 2004 and asking her an unknown question, which she replied to in the affirmative later that month. On the same night, Kane won a twenty man battle royal to receive a World Heavyweight Championship title shot against Chris Benoit at Bad Blood 2004.

Lita later announced that she was pregnant, with Matt Hardy (her then-boyfriend in both kayfabe and reality) assuming that he was the child's father. On the June 21, 2004 episode of RAW, Kane claimed that he was the father. The following week, Kane explained that he had impregnated Lita in order to continue his legacy, and justified a vicious attack on Shawn Michaels several weeks earlier by claiming that Michaels had stood in the way of him winning the World Heavyweight Championship. In order to appease Kane, General Manager Eric Bischoff gave Kane a rematch with Benoit, instructing Benoit that he could only win by submission, whereas Kane could win the title by any means. Despite dominating much of the match, Kane again lost to Benoit. Following the match, Lita came to the ring and low-blowed Kane, who initially went to chokeslam her in revenge but stopped when he realized that she was trying to force him to cause her to miscarry their child. Kane won the Heavyweight title at a house show but it was never verified on-screen.

Kane and Matt Hardy faced one another in a "'Till Death Do Us Part" match at SummerSlam, with Lita obliged to wed the victor. Kane defeated Hardy, and "married" Lita on the August 23, 2004 episode of RAW, after being attacked by Hardy during the ceremony but nevertheless gaining the upper hand and ultimately chokeslammed Hardy off the stage. (In reality, Hardy needed time off because of a knee injury and later a staph infection).

On the September 13, 2004 episode of RAW, Kane accidentally fell on Lita during a match with the debuting Gene Snitsky, ostensibly causing Lita to miscarry. Kane turned face as a result, and began seeking revenge against Snitsky for causing the death of his child. He lost to Snitsky in a steel chain match at Taboo Tuesday 2004, and was sidelined for several months after Snitsky crushed his larynx with a chair following the match. This attack was a repeat performance of when Kane "injured" Michaels in the same exact manner. The "injury" gave Jacobs time to film his starring role in the film, See No Evil.


2005-2006
Kane returned in January 2005, defeating Snitsky at New Year's Revolution 2005. He went on to compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21, which was won by Edge. After WrestleMania, Kane and Lita (still "married") reconciled with one another and began antagonizing Lita's rival Trish Stratus, leading to a match between Kane and Stratus' hired bodyguard Viscera at Backlash 2005 that was won by Kane. Lita later turned on Kane and sided with Edge, leading to a feud between the two that ended when Edge defeated Kane in a Stretcher match on the July 25, 2005 episode of RAW. Lita's heel turn resulted in her real life affair with Edge and her dumping Matt Hardy, and Hardy's subsequent release for making the affair public, resulting in fans heavily booing the "face" Lita during her feud with Trish. In this feud with Edge, Kane played the role of Matt until Hardy was later re-hired and the angle was dropped, with Hardy and Edge having a worked shoot feud (a storyline based on something that has happened in real life but is not a shoot/real fight).


Kane bloodied in a steel cage match against EdgeKane returned to WWE television on October 17, 2005, winning an eighteen-man battle royal. As a result of his victory, he, along with Big Show and Shawn Michaels, was featured in an Internet poll to decide who would receive a shot at the WWE Championship at Taboo Tuesday 2005. In the weeks before Taboo Tuesday, Kane and Big Show teamed together on several occasions. The poll was won by Michaels, and Kane and Big Show teamed together to face Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, defeating them for the World Tag Team Championship. The duo successfully retained their titles throughout the remainder of 2005, during which time they engaged in an inter-promotional feud with members of the SmackDown! brand.

In early 2006, Kane made several attempts to win the WWE Championship. He took part in an Elimination Chamber match for the title at New Year's Revolution 2006 on January 8, 2006, entering the chamber last, but did not win. Kane also took part in the 2006 Royal Rumble and the 2006 Road to WrestleMania Tournament, but did not win either event. He and Big Show feuded with Carlito and Chris Masters throughout early 2006, culminating in a successful title defense at WrestleMania 22 on April 2, 2006.

On the following evening, Kane and Big Show lost the World Tag Team Championship to Spirit Squad members Kenny and Mikey. One week later, Kane and Big Show faced Spirit Squad members Johnny and Nicky in a title rematch, but were disqualified after Kane "snapped" (ostensibly due to "voices in his head"). In subsequent weeks, Kane began attacking anyone who mentioned the date "May 19". During the match between Kane and Big Show at Backlash, Kane's voice began echoing throughout the arena saying "May 19", "They're all going to know", and "You can't hide from it," leaving Kane visibly shaken. Big Show then struck Kane with a chair, resulting in a no contest.

On May 19, 2006 Kane appeared on SmackDown! as JBL's hand-picked opponent for Rey Mysterio. After both the aforementioned voices and mask video began playing, Kane chokeslammed both Layfield and Mysterio before leaving the ring. On the following episode of RAW, he claimed that "May 19" was the date on which his mother and adopted family were killed in a fire. The voices continued on to the May 29, 2006 episode of RAW, when Kane was confronted by the source of the voice, an imposter Kane wearing Kane's old mask and ring attire, who chokeslammed Kane during his match against Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship. Kane and the look-alike continued to fight one another in subsequent weeks, leading to a match between the two being scheduled for Vengeance 2006, in which the real Kane lost to the impostor. On the June 26 episode of RAW, Kane threw the impostor out of the arena and removed his mask, saying "I believe that this is mine."

Kane was absent from WWE television for several weeks thereafter as he toured Europe to promote See No Evil. Upon his return, he faced his former partner The Big Show for the ECW Championship in a losing effort. When he returned to RAW he engaged in a feud with Umaga that concluded on the October 9, 2006 when Umaga defeated him in a "Loser Leaves RAW" match.

On October 13, 2006, Kane returned to the SmackDown! roster for the first time since the 2002 brand extension. On November 3, 2006, Kane reunited with The Undertaker as the Brothers of Destruction to defeat Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) and Mr. Kennedy. Kane would continue a feud with MVP competing in several gimmick matches. The end result of the feud being an Inferno Match at Armageddon 2006 between Kane and MVP, in which Kane won by setting MVP's back on fire which resulted in first degree burns.


2007

Kane performing his signature entrance routine at SummerSlam 2007.On the SmackDown! before the Royal Rumble 2007, Kane was involved in a 6 man elimination over-the-top- rope battle royal. This also included King Booker, MVP, The Miz, Chris Benoit, and Finlay. This match would go to a no-contest as The Undertaker interrupted after Kane had been eliminated and punished the opponents left. At the 2007 Royal Rumble, Kane eliminated King Booker. Booker then came back in the ring and eliminated Kane, even though he had already been eliminated. A couple weeks later on SmackDown!, while receiving the key to the city in his hometown of Houston, Booker was attacked by Kane starting a feud between the two. At No Way Out, Kane successfully defeated King Booker. On February 23, 2007, Kane lost to King Booker in a Falls-Count Anywhere Money in the Bank Qualifying match after interference from The Great Khali, sparking a feud between the two.

On February 26, 2007, Kane interrupted Chris Masters Master Lock Challenge to The Great Khali when Masters was unable to apply the Master Lock. Kane delivered a Chokeslam and a chair shot to Masters then clotheslined The Great Khali over the top rope. Prior to WrestleMania 23, Kane started to walk around with a hook, similar to the hook he used as Jacob Goodnight in See No Evil. At WrestleMania 23, Kane was defeated by Khali. He never walked around with the hook again after this. After Wrestlemania 23 he began to feud with William Regal and Dave Taylor, . The Boogeyman then joined the feud teaming up with Kane. On the May 4 edition of Smackdown, Kane competed in a number 1 contenders match for the United States Championship against MVP which he lost due to interference by Regal and Taylor. On the May 25 edition of SmackDown!, Kane competed in a Fatal Four Way Number 1 Contenders Match for the World Heavyweight Championship which was won by Batista. Kane then entered a short feud with Mark Henry. Kane was defeated by Henry due to interference from Kenny Dykstra and Chavo Guerrero who were lumberjacks in a Lumberjack Match at One Night Stand 2007 and would take a short hiatus there after.

On the July 6 edition of SmackDown!, general manager Theodore Long announced that Kane would face Edge for his World Heavyweight Championship at the The Great American Bash. On the July 13 edition of SmackDown!, Edge sustained a legit pectoral muscle tear, and vacated the title prior to his match with Kane. It was then announced that there would be a 20-man, over-the-top rope, battle royal for the World Heavyweight Championship which was won by The Great Khali. Because Batista was supposed to face The Great Khali at the Bash and Kane was supposed to challenge for the title, Theodore Long announced there would be a #1 contenders match between Kane and Batista. During the match The Great Khali interfered by attacking Batista, the match was ruled a no contest and both men were ruled the #1 contender. The scheduled match for the World Heavyweight Championship at the 2007 Great American Bash was slated to be a triple threat match between Batista, Kane, and The Great Khali. In the beginning of the match, Kane and Batista teamed up to send Khali though an announcer's table. Kane chokeslamed Khali, but ended up losing the match when Khali retained. Kane later teamed up with Batista in the August 18, 2007 (taped August 13) edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event against Khali and Finlay. The match ended following a Batista Bomb.

Kane began feuding with Finlay, which led to a match at SummerSlam, which Kane won after chokeslamming Finlay. In the following episode of SmackDown! Finlay and Kane competed against each other in a tournament to crown the challenger for Khali's World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven. After interference from Hornswoggle, Finlay managed to defeat Kane and advance in the tournament. Finlay and Kane met again during the following week's edition of Smackdown! in a rematch of the previous month's Saturday Night's Main Event. Once again teaming with Batista, Kane defeated Finlay and his partner, The Great Khali when Kane pinned Finlay with a chokeslam. Kane then lost to Finlay in a "Belfast Brawl" on the September 14 Edition of Smackdown, following a chair shot and Celtic Cross from Finlay.

John Bradshaw Layfield

John Charles Layfield (born November 29, 1966) known by his current ring name John "Bradshaw" Layfield or JBL, is a retired American professional wrestler. He is currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment as a color commentator on SmackDown!.

His gimmick, that of a wealthy, gladhanding businessman, is based largely on Layfield's real-life accomplishments outside the ring. Known as a successful stock market guru, Layfield is a regular panelist on Fox News Channel's The Cost of Freedom and previously appeared on CNBC. He has also written a best-selling book on financial planning called Have More Money Now (ISBN 0-7434-6633-0). While Layfield continues to perform for WWE, he also hosts a nationally-syndicated weekend talk radio program syndicated by Talk Radio Network discussing his conservative political views. Layfield is also employed by Northeast Securities as Senior Vice President.

Global Wrestling Federation
Layfield was trained initially by Brad Rheingans and first started wrestling in the Global Wrestling Federation in Texas in 1992. His first gimmick was as Johnny Hawk, storyline cousin of the famous Windham brothers. He formed the "Texas Mustangs" with Bobby Duncum, Jr., and they quickly won the tag team titles but dropped them to Ian & Axl Rotten (Bad Breed). Layfield also won the NWA North American Title, defeating Kevin Von Erich. Two months later, he lost the NWA North American Title to Greg "The Hammer" Valentine.


World Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Entertainment (1995-present)

1995-1997
After three and a half years touring the independent circuit in various forgettable guises, Layfield first appeared in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw in late 1995. His initial gimmick was that of a tough cowboy/mountain man, similar in tone to Stan Hansen. After victories, he branded his opponents with the symbol "JB." Of course, the brand was in ink, rather than being seared into the flesh. Managed by Uncle Zebekiah, the character fizzled out by the end of the year, perhaps remembered only for a feud with Savio Vega and a match with Fatu which he won in eight seconds. Layfield then quickly paired up with his (storyline) cousin Barry Windham to form "The New Blackjacks," complete with the traditional "Blackjack" gimmicks of handlebar mustaches and short, jet black hair.

Windham's injuries piled up throughout 1997, so the team disbanded, and Layfield wrestled only occasionally on TV as a generic brawler simply called "Bradshaw", sometimes teaming with fellow Texan Terry Funk.


1998-2001
In late 1998, Bradshaw teamed alongside former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) World Champion Faarooq to form the powerhouse tag team Hell's Henchmen, managed by the Jackal. Eventually the Jackal left the WWF, and Faarooq and Bradshaw joined The Undertaker's new Ministry of Darkness under the name The Acolytes, along with other various wrestlers. The Ministry went on to feud with the Corporation. As part of the Ministry, Bradshaw feuded with Ken Shamrock. The Ministry was defeated by Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the Undertaker went on hiatus, so Bradshaw and Faarooq's dark gimmick faded.

The duo turned face to become cigar-smoking, bar-brawlers-for-hire. In jeans and t-shirts, Faarooq and Bradshaw became the Pulp Fiction-inspired Acolytes Protection Agency (APA), with a motto of "Because we need the beer money." The duo was often seen in the backrooms of arenas with a trademark poker table and later a framed doorway comically in the middle of the often large, open aired hallways, but they insisted that anyone entering the space use the door. Occasionally, if the "room" was destroyed in one arena, it was setup exactly as it was destroyed at the next arena, pushing continuity through time and space for comic effect. As a team, they won the WWF Tag Team Titles three times. Bradshaw also won the WWF European Championship in October 2001.


2002-2003

In early 2002, Faarooq and Bradshaw split due to the WWE Draft. Now on RAW, Layfield's character had an increased emphasis on his Texas roots, which included him carrying a cowbell to the ring. He also became a multiple-time WWE Hardcore Champion. Renaming the belt as the Texas Hardcore Championship, he won that title a total of eighteen times. It was also during the time that his finishing move was briefly renamed from the Clothesline from Hell to the Clothesline from Texas or the Clothesline from deep in the heart of Texas. Jim Ross often called the move as such during his commentary, although the name eventually reverted back to the original Clothesline from Hell.

In September 2002, Layfield suffered a torn left biceps at a house show event. He was out of action for six months until returning to Ohio Valley Wrestling and then a few weeks later to the active WWE roster. He returned on an episode of SmackDown!, which saw him and his old friend Faarooq saving the Undertaker from the hands of Chuck Palumbo and Johnny Stamboli. Layfield returned with a new look, cutting his long hair and not dying it black, and shaving his facial hair. After that, he and Faarooq competed for the WWE Tag Team Championship.


2004
The gimmick continued on-and-off until early 2004, when Faarooq (Ron Simmons) was fired in storyline (in actuality he retired) from WWE after losing a tag team "You're Fired" Match in Boston. Then-SmackDown! General Manager Paul Heyman reminded Bradshaw that the "You're Fired" stipulation applied only to Faarooq and Bradshaw should think about his own future, noting his status as a successful author and then-FOX News personality. (Despite Layfield turning his back on Faarooq on TV, the two remain close friends to this day. Simmons was the best man at Layfield's second wedding.)

The next week, Bradshaw changed his gimmick into a Wall Street-esque heel persona complete with a suit, cowboy hat and tie. To complete his heel turn, he began using John "Bradshaw" Layfield, or JBL, as his stage name. As in 2002, his finishing move's name was part of the overhaul, becoming the Clothesline From Wall Street though he later changed it back to Clothesline from Hell. His first promo was on the border between Texas and Mexico, where he hunted for incoming illegal immigrants in order to win a "Great American Award", which granted the winner number one contendership to the WWE Championship. He won, and immediately challenged Eddie Guerrero for the title. The storyline leading up to Judgment Day 2004 was that JBL caused Eddie's mother to have a kayfabe heart attack at a house show when he threatened her and grabbed her by the shoulder. At Judgment Day, JBL defeated Eddie Guerrero via disqualification in a WWE Title match. JBL went on to win the WWE Championship controversially from Guerrero at The Great American Bash where the initial decision of Guerrero's victory was reversed during the Texas Bull Rope Match by then-General Manager Kurt Angle, awarding the match and the title to JBL, as the replay showed that JBL touched the fourth corner before Guerrero touched it. JBL won a rematch in a steel cage match two weeks later in Providence, Rhode Island, again with Angle's assistance.

JBL won several squash matches in the following weeks. After claiming he would not be defending the title at SummerSlam, the Undertaker challenged JBL for the title. Around this time, JBL hired Orlando Jordan to help him in title matches. JBL won the match by disqualification. After the match, Undertaker choke-slammed JBL through the roof of his limo. JBL wore a halo (complete with his cowboy hat on top) for the next few weeks to sell his "injuries". General Manager Theodore Long then booked a "Last Ride Match" for the title at No Mercy. JBL retained the title with some help from Heidenreich.


Though JBL held the title for many months, most title matches were won controversially. At the 2004 Survivor Series, JBL defeated Booker T to retain his WWE Championship by hitting Booker in the face with the title belt when the referee was knocked out. JBL also defeated Eddie Guerrero, Booker T, and the Undertaker in a Fatal Four Way at Armageddon after interference by Heidenreich, who incapacitated the Undertaker, allowing JBL to take advantage and hit Booker with the Clothesline From Hell to get the pinfall victory.

The "JBL" character, at first, mimicked the actions of a J. R. Ewing-style businessman running for office (campaign speeches, kissing babies, etc., which fit with the 2004 Election Cycle) but then started referring to himself as a "Wrestling God", much to the on-screen disdain of RAW's then-World Champion Triple H. The segment of RAW where Triple H showed himself thoroughly unimpressed by JBL is an instance of a rare occurrence in professional wrestling, where a heel expresses hostility against another heel in the same company without one or the other turning face shortly afterward.


2005

During JBL's time as WWE Champion, he employed a "staff" to work for him. The stable was named The Cabinet. At its peak, the stable contained Orlando Jordan, who was JBL's "Chief-of-Staff." Doug and Danny Basham were his "Co-Secretaries of Defense" until "quitting" the Cabinet on the June 16, 2005 episode of SmackDown! Amy Weber was also a member, being JBL's image consultant, but later left WWE due to alleged harassment. WWE explained Weber's absence by saying that JBL "fired" her after an episode of SmackDown! taped in Japan. That episode saw Weber accidentally shoot JBL with a tranquilizer gun. Jordan is the only member not announced to have left the group, though mention of the term cabinet went on hiatus after SummerSlam 2005 and Orlando was released from WWE in May 2006.

JBL's luck continued in early 2005, and at the Royal Rumble, he snuck past both Big Show and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match when he pinned Angle after the Clothesline From Hell. He once again emerged with his title intact from WWE's first-ever Barbed-Wire Steel Cage Match at No Way Out against Big Show. JBL won the match when Big Show chokeslammed JBL off the top rope through the ring. JBL managed to crawl out from under the ring apron before Show could make it to the floor, winning the match by escape. On the next edition of SmackDown!, JBL had a "Celebration of Excellence" in which he and his Cabinet celebrated the fact that he was the longest-reigning WWE Champion in ten years (since Diesel), a party which was broken up and ruined by newly-crowned #1 contender John Cena.

JBL lost the WWE Championship to Cena at WrestleMania 21. His unbroken nine-month reign was billed as the longest in a decade, lasting 280 days. JBL defeated Big Show, Booker T, and Kurt Angle in a four-way elimination match to earn a rematch, but lost to Cena at Judgment Day in a bloody "I Quit" match. He was ribbed by Cena and other wrestlers for saying "I Quit" over the next few months. Cena even called him the most celebrated quitter in WWE history.

On June 12, 2005, Layfield appeared at the WWE-promoted ECW One Night Stand 2005 pay-per-view as an anti-ECW "crusader." In the course of the night, however, he shot on The Blue Meanie (see Blue Meanie Incident and Aftermath). WWE capitalized on the situation by re-signing Heffron to a short-term contract. On the July 7, 2005 episode of SmackDown!, Blue Meanie was reunited with his old Blue World Order associates Nova and Steven Richards and he defeated Layfield with the help of the World Heavyweight Champion Batista, who was drafted to SmackDown! a few weeks after Cena was drafted to RAW.

Layfield and Batista then met in a match at The Great American Bash on July 24, 2005 for the World Heavyweight Championship. JBL won the match by disqualification. At SummerSlam, Batista soundly defeated Layfield. JBL lost another rematch with Batista on the September 9, 2005 edition of SmackDown! in a Texas Bullrope Match (the same match JBL won the WWE title in).

On the September 16, 2005 episode of SmackDown!, JBL lost to Rey Mysterio and hired Jillian Hall to "fix" his career. At No Mercy 2005, JBL defeated Mysterio. JBL then teamed up with Rey Mysterio in the SmackDown! versus RAW rivalry with Chris Masters and Edge. He was named one of the superstars whom fans could vote in to face Edge and Masters at 2005's Taboo Tuesday event. Though he wasn't chosen, he later defeated Chris Benoit on November 10, 2005 with the help of Booker T to become a member of "Team Smackdown!" to face "Team RAW" at Survivor Series 2005. JBL lasted throughout most of the Survivor Series match, and can even be credited for helping give Smackdown! the victory by distracting Shawn Michaels with a steel chair long enough for Randy Orton to hit him with the RKO. On SmackDown! in December, he helped Booker T defeat Matt Hardy. He later beat Matt Hardy at Armageddon 2005. He showed up at the "Tribute to the Troops" as "Bad Santa" where he lost to the good Santa Mick Foley.


2006
On the February 24, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, he suffered a broken hand at the hands of Chris Benoit in a six man tag team match, and WWE.com announced that he underwent successful surgery. Layfield was in fact having surgery to remove a non-cancerous cyst.

Layfield returned and feuded with Chris Benoit defeating him for his WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 22. During this time, Jillian Hall would remain at the side of JBL until the April 21, 2006 edition of SmackDown! when JBL fired Hall, due to her inability to help JBL defend his title during a JBL/Benoit steel cage rematch the week before (which JBL was still able to win) as well as her lack of putting together an "appropriate" celebration for him.

JBL, while still United States Champion, challenged for the World Heavyweight Championship. JBL tried to weaken then champion Rey Mysterio in the weeks leading up to his title match as Mysterio faced off against any opponent of JBL's choosing. Mysterio was defeated by Mark Henry and squashed by The Great Khali in non title singles matches before facing RAW's Kane in a match, that went to a no contest, leading up to the Judgment Day 2005 title match. However, Mysterio retained his World Title at Judgment Day using a Frog Splash to pin the United States Champion, JBL.

On the May 26, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, JBL lost the US Title to Bobby Lashley. He also lost another attempt at the World Title against Rey Mysterio, stating beforehand that he would quit SmackDown! if he lost that match. When he did lose, the crowd at the arena began to sing "Na Na, Hey Hey, Goodbye". It was reported that JBL began to verbally attack the crowd while in the ring. However, JBL later stated that he did not have a formal contract with Teddy Long going into the match and that he did not intend to leave SmackDown!. This angle was used to give JBL time off wrestling due to his serious back injury.


Retirement / WWE Commentator
At One Night Stand 2006, Layfield announced that he would take Tazz's place as the new color commentator for SmackDown!. He made his debut as a heelish color commentator on the June 16, 2006 edition of SmackDown!.

Layfield noted in a recent commentary on TheStreet.com that he was retiring from in-ring competition for good. In his final column on the website, JBL wrote, "I have also come to believe that you can't fight father time. A broken back suffered in a match in England, compounded by a herniated and bulged disc, finally made me realize my career as a professional wrestler was over. I since migrated to the color commentary position much in the way that Jesse Ventura did before me."

In a WWE.com article, Layfield quelled internet rumors that he would be leaving WWE in October 2006. While Layfield did admit to giving his notice to WWE, he said that he did so because he was heartbroken that he couldn't wrestle, not because he wanted to quit the wrestling business. He has since signed a new deal.

JBL returned to the ring on November 13, 2006, in the main event of a WWE house show in Dublin, Ireland, JBL teamed with Mr. Kennedy and King Booker, against Kane, the Undertaker, and Batista. On the December 22, 2006 edition of SmackDown JBL cut a promo berating Theodore Long and cursing out the fans for cheering during the Inferno Match at Armageddon 5 days earlier ("Rome didn't fall because of the gladiators in the ring. Rome fell because of the spectators in the stands.")

On his February 5, 2007 blog on WWE.com, Layfield announced that he is looking into running for political office in his home state of Texas.

Umaga

Edward Fatu (born March 28, 1973) is a Samoan professional wrestler better known by his ring names Jamal, Ekmo, and currently Umaga. He is presently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and performs on their RAW brand.

He is a member of the Anoa'i wrestling family, and before his current WWE role, he frequently worked as a part of a tag team — variously named The Island Boyz, the Samoan Gangstas, and 3-Minute Warning — with his cousin Matt Anoa'i.

Team with Matt Anoa'i
Fatu trained to become a professional wrestler at the "Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling Training Center" operated by his uncles, Afa and Sika. In 1995, with his training complete, he started wrestling for Afa's World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW). The next year, both Fatu and his cousin Matt were brought into the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) to take part in an angle with Solafa Fatu, Jr., Eddie's brother and Matt's cousin, that ended up being quickly dropped. Instead they were sent to the WWF's "farm territory" Heartland Wrestling Association", where they formed a tag team which stayed together through various promotions — including Memphis Championship Wrestling and Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, holding championships in both — under the names Samoan Gangstas and Island Boyz. In 2002 the team was brought back to the (now renamed) World Wrestling Entertainment as 3-Minute Warning, a pair of enforcers for RAW brand General Manager Eric Bischoff. The team lasted just shy of a year, with Jamal being released from his WWE contract in June 2003, reportedly after his involvement in a bar fight.


Solo career

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
After his release from WWE, Fatu reverted to the name Ekmo — used when he was a member of the Island Boyz team — and began working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). He worked for TNA between June and November of 2003, during which time he was put into a tag team with Sonny Siaki. The team feuded with America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm). Both the tag team and Fatu's time in TNA came to an end when he decided to take bookings in Japan.


All Japan Pro Wrestling
Fatu left TNA for All Japan Pro Wrestling, where he used the name Jamal — the same name he'd used as a member of 3-Minute Warning. He was again used as a part of tag teams, first forming a short lived team with Justin Credible before forming a more permanent team with Taiyô Kea. With Kea he held the AJPW Unified World Tag Team Championship and won the World's Strongest Tag Team League tournament in 2004. The team also wrestled a stint in Hawai'i Championship Wrestling, holding the HCW Kekaulike Heritage Tag Team Championship once.


World Wrestling Entertainment

2005-2007
In December 2005, Fatu re-signed with World Wrestling Entertainment. Initial signs pointed to a reunion of 3-Minute Warning, with the former team of Matt Anoa'i (Rosey) and Fatu (Jamal) wrestling in dark matches together before episodes of RAW. However, Rosey was released from WWE before the team could be brought to the main show.

Fatu re-debuted on the April 3, 2006 episode of RAW with a new gimmick and name. Now called Umaga — the same name of the final part of the Samoan tattooing process, meaning "the end" — he was depicted as a destructive savage who could only be controlled by his manager, Armando Alejandro Estrada. The pair started out feuding with Ric Flair, whom Estrada interrupted in the middle of a promo to tell how much of a fan of his he used to be, but that now he was old and needed to retire. It was in offering the fans a new "hero" to watch that he introduced Umaga, who proceeded to beat down Flair. For the next few weeks Umaga participated in squash matches, destroying various jobbers, until he dispatched Flair at Backlash at the end of the month.

Umaga then returned to defeating jobbers. His next actual feud started at August's SummerSlam, where he was supposed to be an enforcer on behalf of The McMahons (Vince and Shane) during their match against D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H), only to be attacked by Kane as he made his entrance. Kane and Umaga feuded for the next two months until Umaga won a Loser Leaves RAW match, sending Kane off of the brand. After being separated by different brands, Umaga and Kane had one final match at Cyber Sunday where Umaga again defeated Kane after fans selected him over Chris Benoit and The Sandman to be Umaga's opponent for the night.


Umaga, having still not been pinned in the WWE, was then deemed #1 contender for the WWE Championship and placed into a feud with Champion John Cena over the title. Cena retained his belt at the New Year's Revolution pay-per-view by pinning Umaga with a roll-up, officially ending his streak — which had lasted 34 televised matches and spanned from his debut in April 2006 to January 2007. In that time Umaga was never pinned or made to submit on television, although he did lose two matches by disqualification and another went to a double count out. For the rest of the month, Estrada played down Cena's victory, claiming it was a fluke, until a Last Man Standing rematch was signed for the next pay-per-view, the Royal Rumble. On an episode of RAW between the two pay-per-views, Umaga attacked Cena causing a (worked) injury to his spleen and putting the match in jeopardy. Cena (kayfabe) refused a medical exam, the results of which could cause him to forfeit his title, and then defeated Umaga by submission, wrapping a loosened ring rope around his neck during an STFU.

Though he was out of the world title picture, Umaga was named Vince McMahon's "representative" for the WrestleMania 23 "Battle of the Billionaires" with Donald Trump. Immediately after choosing Umaga, McMahon "granted" him a match against the Intercontinental Champion, Jeff Hardy, which he won handedly to take the title. After Bobby Lashley was named Trump's representative, the two began a feud which lasted even beyond WrestleMania. Despite Umaga losing in the "Battle of the Billionaires" hair versus hair match and causing Vince McMahon to get his head shaved, the McMahons (Vince and Shane) continued to second him to the ring. Two weeks after WrestleMania, Lashley interfered in a match and helped a planted fan — Santino Marella — defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental title. At the April 29 Backlash event; the team of Umaga, Vince, and Shane McMahon wrestled Bobby Lashley for his ECW World Championship in a Handicap match, winning the title for Vince. While Umaga worked with the McMahons, Estrada became less and less involved until he stopped appearing altogether. In June, Umaga was re-entered into a feud with Santino Marella, the man who took his Intercontinental Championship earlier that April. When they met at the Vengeance pay-per-view, Umaga was solidly in control of the match, but lost by disqualification when he disregarded the referees instructions and continued to punch Marella. In a rematch on July 2, Umaga beat Marella to win the Intercontinental title back. Not long after, he seemingly started a face turn, joining forces with John Cena against Carlito and Randy Orton. After defeating both Kennedy and Carlito in a Triple threat match at SummerSlam, Umaga interrupted a RAW match between Kennedy and a returning Jeff Hardy, assaulting Hardy and leaving him lying in the ring. One week later, on the September 3 RAW, Umaga lost the Intercontinental title to Hardy in a singles match. Later that night, he teamed with Carlito in a handicap match against Triple H, after which Triple H struck him several times with his signature sledgehammer, injuring him. He was given a match against Triple H at No Mercy, which was changed to a title match for the WWE Championship during the event due to Triple H winning the title earlier that night but Umaga was unsuccessful in beating Triple H.

Triple H

Paul Michael Levesque (born July 27, 1969) is an American professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Triple H, an abbreviation of his former Hunter Hearst Helmsley moniker. He currently wrestles for the RAW brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Before joining WWE, Levesque began his wrestling career with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1993, wrestling under the name Terra Ryzing. He changed his gimmick to Jean-Paul Lévesque, before joining World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1995.

Since joining WWE, he has become an 11-time world champion: a six-time WWE Champion and a five-time World Heavyweight Champion. In addition, he won the 1997 King of the Ring, the 2002 Royal Rumble, and was the second Grand Slam Champion.

He married Stephanie McMahon in 2003, becoming the son-in-law of WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Outside of wrestling, Levesque has made numerous guest appearances in film and on television. He is starring in the upcoming WWE Film Journey of Death.

Early career
Levesque enrolled at Killer Kowalski's wrestling school in 1992 after it was recommended to him by Ted Arcidi. He joined the Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF), which used trainees from Kowalski's school in their promotion. Here, he became the IWF Heavyweight Champion and an IWF Tag Team Champion with fellow Kowalski trainee, Perry Saturn. It was in the IWF that Levesque started using the name Terra Ryzing.


World Championship Wrestling
In early 1994, he joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW), wrestling as a heel. In his first televised match, he defeated Brian Armstrong. He continued using the name Terra Ryzing until mid-1994, when he was renamed Jean-Paul Lévesque. This gimmick was in reference to his surname's French origins. He was asked to speak with a French accent, as he could not speak French. During this time he began using his finisher The Pedigree.

Lévesque had a brief storyline feud with Alex Wright that culminated at Starrcade. In early 1995, Lévesque briefly teamed with Lord Steven Regal, whose snobby British persona was a good match with Lévesque's similar persona. The team was short-lived, however, as Lévesque soon left for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), after WCW shot down Levesque's request to be pushed as a singles competitor.


World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment

The Connecticut Blueblood (1995–1997)

As a continuation of his gimmick in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Triple H started off his WWF career as the Connecticut Blueblood, Hunter Hearst Helmsley. He appeared in taped vignettes, in which he talked about how to use proper etiquette, up until his wrestling debut on the April 30, 1995 episode of WWF Wrestling Challenge.

Although he was heavily pushed in the first few months after his debut, his career stalled during 1996, starting off with being mired in a feud with Duke "The Dumpster" Droese following a loss in the Free For All at the 1996 Royal Rumble. Up until that event, his angle included appearing on television each week with a different female valet. Sable was his valet at WrestleMania XII, and after his loss to Ultimate Warrior, he kayfabe took his aggressions out on her. The debuting Marc Mero came to her rescue, and this started a storyline feud between the two wrestlers.

Helmsley was best known backstage as one of the members of the Clique, a group of wrestlers including Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman and Scott Hall who were known for influencing Vince McMahon and the WWF Creative team. Helmsley was in line to win the 1996 King of the Ring tournament, but he was buried and demoted from championship contender to jobber to the stars, after the Madison Square Garden Incident, in which the Clique broke character after a match to say goodbye to the departing Nash and Hall.

Despite the punishment, Helmsley did have several successes following the MSG Incident. He found a manager in Mr. Perfect and was booked to win his first Intercontinental Championship on October 21, 1996, defeating Marc Mero. When Mr. Perfect left the WWF, his departure was explained to be a result of Helmsley turning his back on his manager as soon as he won the Intercontinental Championship. He held the belt for nearly four months before dropped it to Rocky Maivia on the February 13, 1997 edition of a special Monday Night RAW, called Thursday RAW Thursday. For a very brief time, Helmsley was accompanied by Mr. Hughes, who was his storyline bodyguard. After losing the Intercontinental title, he feuded with Goldust, defeating him at WrestleMania 13. During their feud, Chyna debuted as his new bodyguard, assaulting Goldust's wife and valet Marlena.


D-Generation X (1997–1999)
Helmsley's push resumed in 1997, when he won the King of the Ring tournament on June 8, 1997 by defeating Mankind in the finals. Later that year, Shawn Michaels, Helmsley, Chyna and Rick Rude formed D-Generation X (DX). This stable later became known for pushing the envelope, as Michaels and Helmsley made risqué promos, spawning the catchphrase "Suck It", along with a "crotch chop" hand motion, and sarcastically deriding Bret Hart and Canada. By now, Helmsley had fully dropped the "blueblood snob" gimmick and adopted the name of Triple H.

Even after the DX versus Hart Foundation storyline ended when Bret, Jim Neidhart, and Davey Boy Smith defected to WCW, Helmsley began to feud with the sole remaining member Owen Hart over the WWF European Championship. This culminated in a match between the two at WrestleMania XIV, the stipulation of which stated that Chyna had to be handcuffed to then-Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter. Hunter won when Chyna interfered after blinding Slaughter with a powder shot to the face. After WrestleMania XIV, Michaels was forced into retirement due to a legitimate back injury sustained at the 1998 Royal Rumble, and Triple H took over the leadership position in DX, kayfabe claiming that his now-former associate had "dropped the ball". He introduced the returning X-Pac the night after WrestleMania and joined forces with the New Age Outlaws ("Bad Ass" Billy Gunn and "Road Dogg" Jesse James).

Triple H led the "DX Army" throughout 1998, spawning a series of vignettes where the DX army "invaded" the CNN Building and WCW Offices in Atlanta, culminating in the group nearly crashing an episode of Nitro in Virginia. This was the first time he had performed as a face in the WWF. It was also during this time that Triple H began feuding with the leader of the Nation of Domination and rising WWF heel, The Rock. This storyline rivalry eventually led to a feud over The Rock's Intercontinental Championship. Triple H was booked to defeat The Rock in a ladder match at SummerSlam 1998 to capture the title. He did not hold the title long, however, as he was sidelined with a legitimate knee injury. When The Rock won the WWF Championship at the Survivor Series 1998, the rivalry between the two continued, as DX fought Vince McMahon's Corporation stable, of which Rock was the main star. Triple H received a shot at the WWF Championship on the January 25, 1999 edition of RAW in an "I Quit" match against The Rock, but was kayfabe forced to quit or see his aide Chyna chokeslammed by Kane. This began a new angle for Triple H, as Chyna attacked him after the match and joined the Corporation, betraying him.

As part of the storyline, at WrestleMania XV Triple H wrestled as a face for the last time in several months when he beat Kane with the aid of Chyna, who was thought to have rejoined DX. Later on in the night, he betrayed his long-time friend and fellow DX member X-Pac by helping Shane McMahon retain the European Championship, thus turning heel and taking Chyna with him. This decision helped push Triple H further in the direction of the WWF Championship. Triple H then joined the Corporation, briefly placing him on the same side as The Rock. Unable to get along, The Rock turned on the Corporation and took Triple H's place as a face. After Triple H's heel turn in early 1999, he moved away from his "DX" look, taping his fists for matches, sporting new and shorter wrestling trunks, and adopting a shorter hairstyle. His gimmick changed as he fought to earn a WWF title shot. After numerous failed attempts at winning the championship, Triple H and Mankind challenged WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin at SummerSlam 1999 in a triple threat match, which featured Jesse "The Body" Ventura as the special guest referee. Mankind was booked to win the match by pinning Austin, becoming a three-time WWF champion. However, the following night on RAW, Triple H defeated Mankind to win his first WWF Championship.

Triple H dropped the WWE Championship to Vince McMahon on the September 16, 1999 edition of SmackDown!, before regaining it at Unforgiven in a Six-Pack Challenge which included Davey Boy Smith, Big Show, Kane, The Rock, and Mankind. He defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin at No Mercy 1999, before dropping the title to The Big Show at Survivor Series 1999.


McMahon-Helmsley Era (2000–2001)
By January 2000, already a three-time WWF champion, Triple H had dubbed himself "The Game", implying that he was at the top of the wrestling world, and was dubbed "The Cerebral Assassin" by Jim Ross. His storyline feud with Vince McMahon continued with McMahon winning the title from Triple H during an episode of SmackDown!. However, the short-lived feud started the angle with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon that carried the WWF throughout the next seventeen months; this period was known as the "McMahon-Helmsley Era".

Triple H worked a program with Mick Foley in early 2000, which ended in a Hell in a Cell match at No Way Out 2000 that sent Foley into retirement. By the time Triple H pinned The Rock at WrestleMania 2000, he was one of the most over WWF stars, generating enormous heat for his entrance and promos alone. He lost the title at April's Backlash to The Rock, but regained it two months later, in an Iron Man match at Judgment Day, only to lose it back to The Rock at King of the Ring. Hunter then entered into a storyline feud with Chris Jericho, which cultivated in a Last Man Standing match at Fully Loaded 2000.

A Triple Threat match against WWF Champion The Rock and Kurt Angle led to an angle between Angle and Triple H, which centered around Angle's infatuation with Stephanie. Triple H and Kurt Angle began fighting before the match started (and before The Rock made his entrance). Triple H dragged Angle to an announce table and set him up for The Pedigree, planning on performing the move through the table. In this instance, however, the table gave way just as Triple H was jumping up. This resulted in a genuine concussion for Angle, and Triple H and Rock had to improvise much of the match while Angle recovered.

A later storyline feud between Triple H and Steve Austin started when it emerged that Triple H had paid off Rikishi to run down Austin at Survivor Series 1999, causing him to take a year off action. In reality, Austin's previous neck injuries started bothering him again, forcing him to have surgery. The Game and Austin fought in a battle at Survivor Series 2000 that ended when Triple H tried to trick Austin into coming into the parking lot to run him over again, only to have Austin lift his car up with a forklift and flip the car onto its roof 10 feet high. Triple H returned a few weeks later and attacked Austin. The feud continued into 2001 and culminated in a Three Stages of Hell match in which Helmsley defeated Austin. In 2001, Triple H also feuded with The Undertaker, who defeated him at WrestleMania X-Seven. He later teamed with his former nemesis Austin to form The Two-Man Power Trip, capturing both the WWF Tag Team Titles and the Intercontinental Championship (twice) by the end of the next pay-per-view.

During the May 21, 2001 broadcast of RAW, he suffered a legitimate and career-threatening injury. In the night's main event, he and Steve Austin were defending the Tag Team titles against Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. At one point, Jericho had Austin trapped in his Walls of Jericho submission hold. Triple H ran-in to break it up, but just as he did, he suffered a tear in his left quadriceps muscle, causing it to come completely off the bone. Despite his inability to place any weight on his leg, Triple H was able to complete the match. He even allowed Jericho to put him in the Walls of Jericho, a move that places considerable stress on the quadriceps. The tear required an operation, which was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, in Birmingham. This injury brought an abrupt end to the McMahon-Helmsley Era, as the rigorous rehabilitation process kept Triple H out of action for over eight months, completely missing the Invasion storyline of WCW/ECW.


Undisputed Champion (2002)

Triple H returned to RAW as a face on January 7, 2002 at Madison Square Garden. He was booked to win that year's Royal Rumble, and thus received a WWF Undisputed Championship match in the main event at WrestleMania X8. At WrestleMania X8, Triple H beat Chris Jericho for the WWF Undisputed Championship. After holding the title for a month, Helmsley dropped it to Hulk Hogan at Backlash 2002. Triple H then became exclusive to the SmackDown! roster due to the WWF Draft Lottery and continued to feud with Chris Jericho, culminating in a Hell in a Cell match at Judgment Day.

In the interim, between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, the McMahon-Helmsley era was brought to an official on-screen conclusion. By the time he returned, Triple H's kayfabe marriage to Stephanie was on the rocks, so Stephanie faked a pregnancy in order to get him back on her side. When he learned that it was fake, he dumped her publicly on RAW when they were supposed to renew their wedding vows. Stephanie aligned with Chris Jericho afterward, but she was forced to leave action after losing a triple threat on RAW the night after WrestleMania when she was pinned by Triple H. The divorce, and thus the storyline, was finalized at Vengeance.

Meanwhile, Triple H's old DX companion Shawn Michaels had made his return to WWE and joined the nWo, and Michaels and Kevin Nash planned to bring Triple H over to RAW in order to put him into the group. However, Vince McMahon disbanded the nWo following several backstage complications and brought in Eric Bischoff as RAW's new general manager. One of Bischoff's first intentions was to follow up on the nWo's plan and woo Triple H over to the RAW roster. Triple H did indeed jump over to RAW, reuniting with Shawn Michaels, but on July 22, 2002, he turned heel once again by turning on Michaels, hitting a surprise Pedigree on him during what was supposed to be a DX reunion. The following week, Triple H smashed Michaels' face into a car window to prove that Michaels was "weak". These events led to the beginning of a long storyline rivalry between the former partners and an eventual "Unsanctioned Street Fight" at SummerSlam 2002, in which Michaels came out of retirement and won. Afterwards, however, Triple H attacked him with a sledgehammer, and Michaels was carried out of the ring.

Prior to September 2, 2002, WWE recognized only one Champion for both RAW and SmackDown! However, after SummerSlam, champion Brock Lesnar signed a storyline deal to become exclusive to SmackDown!, leaving RAW without a champion. RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff then awarded the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H in the form of the old WCW Championship belt. Triple H was pushed by having successful title defenses against Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Kane, and others, but eventually dropped the belt to Shawn Michaels in the first ever Elimination Chamber match at Survivor Series 2002. He regained the title from Michaels a month later in a Three Stages of Hell match at Armageddon 2002.


Evolution (2003–2005)

In January 2003, Triple H formed Evolution with Ric Flair, Randy Orton, and Batista. Its purpose was to include the "greatest wrestlers" of the past (Flair), present (Triple H), and future (Orton and Batista). The group was pushed on RAW from 2003 to 2004, the height of their dominance occurring after Armageddon 2003 when every member of Evolution was booked to win a title. Triple H beat Goldberg to win the World Heavyweight Championship, Randy Orton beat Rob Van Dam to win the Intercontinental Championship, and Ric Flair and Batista beat The Dudley Boyz to win the World Tag Team Championship. Triple H held the belt for most of 2003, feuding with and ultimately defeating former WCW talent including former WCW World Heavyweight Champions Scott Steiner, Booker T, Kevin Nash, and Goldberg in main events.

At the Royal Rumble, Triple H and Shawn Michaels fought in a Last Man Standing match. Both men fought to a double countout, so Triple H retained the title. Triple H lost his title to Chris Benoit at WrestleMania XX, and he was unable to reclaim the belt from Benoit in subsequent rematches, including an exact rematch of the WrestleMania main event between Triple H, Benoit, and Shawn Michaels at Backlash.

He then ended his angle with Michaels, defeating him in a Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood 2004. After another failed attempt, losing to Chris Benoit at Vengeance, he focused on Eugene, beating him at SummerSlam. Triple H then regained the title from former associate Randy Orton at Unforgiven. Following a triple threat World title defense against Chris Benoit and Edge on the November 29, 2004 episode of RAW, the World Heavyweight Championship became vacant for the first time.

At New Year's Revolution, Triple H won the Elimination Chamber to begin his 10th world title reign. At WrestleMania 21, Triple H lost the championship to Batista, and subsequently lost two rematches at consecutive RAW pay-per-views: Backlash 2005 and Vengeance 2005. Following this, Triple H took some time off from wrestling, learning about the corporate side of WWE in preparation for a future full-time executive position, as well as to film the future WWE films project Journey of Death.

Triple H returned to RAW on October 3, 2005 as part of WWE Homecoming to a tremendous ovation, even though at the time he took his absence, he was a heel. He teamed up with Ric Flair (who had turned face during Triple H's absence) against Chris Masters and Carlito. Triple H and Flair won, but Triple H then turned on Flair with his sledgehammer. Triple H then began a feud with Flair. They met in a Steel cage match at Taboo Tuesday for Flair's Intercontinental Championship, a match that Flair won. However, Triple H defeated Flair in a non-title Last Man Standing match at Survivor Series and ended their feud.


D-Generation X revival (2006–2007)

Although Triple H failed to win the Royal Rumble match at Royal Rumble to earn a title shot, another championship opportunity arose for Triple H in the Road to WrestleMania Tournament. He won it, granting him a match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 22. At WrestleMania 22, Triple H and John Cena fought in the main event for the WWE Championship, which Triple H lost via submission. Later that month at Backlash 2006, Triple H was involved in another WWE Championship match, fighting Edge and John Cena in a Triple Threat match, where he lost again. In an act of frustration, a bloodied Triple H used his sledgehammer to kayfabe attack both Edge and Cena and then performed a number of DX crotch chops. Triple H unsuccessfully attempted to win the WWE title from Cena on numerous occasions, blaming his shortcomings on Vince McMahon, which eventually lead to a storyline feud between the McMahons and Triple H.

Shawn Michaels returned on the June 12, 2006 edition of RAW and soon reunited with Triple H to reform their previous wrestling stable, D-Generation X. DX defeated the Spirit Squad at Vengeance 2006 in a 5-on-2 handicap match. DX continued their feud with Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and the Spirit Squad for several weeks. They then defeated the Spirit Squad again at Saturday Night's Main Event in a 5-on-2 Elimination match. They then again defeated the McMahons at SummerSlam 2006, withstanding the attack of several handpicked WWE superstars by Vince McMahon. At Unforgiven 2006, D-Generation X overcame the odds once again, defeating The McMahons and ECW World Champion Big Show in a Hell in a Cell match (the seventh Hell in a Cell match for Triple H and the third for Shawn Michaels). DX embarrassed Vince by shoving his face in between the Big Show's buttocks during the match, and DX won when Triple H broke a sledgehammer over the shoulders of Vince McMahon after Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to him.

At Cyber Sunday 2006 during their feud with Edge and Randy Orton, the fans selected special guest referee Eric Bischoff, who allowed the illegal use of a weapon to give Rated-RKO the ill-gotten win. At Survivor Series 2006, DX got their revenge when their team defeated Edge and Randy Orton's team in an Elimination Match with a clean sweep. At New Year's Revolution 2007, DX and Rated-RKO fought to a no-contest after Triple H suffered a legitimate torn right quadriceps (similar to the one he suffered in 2001 but in the other leg) fifteen minutes into the match. A successful surgery was performed on January 9, 2007 by Dr. James Andrews.


Return (2007)
Triple H made his in-ring return at SummerSlam 2007, defeating King Booker with his signature finishing move, the Pedigree. Upon his return on RAW, he humiliated Carlito at his Cabana, starting a feud between the two, that lead to a match at Unforgiven, in which there were No Disqualifications for Carlito. Nevertheless, Triple H won the match after a Pedigree.

He won the WWE Championship at No Mercy 2007 after beating the newly named Champion, Randy Orton who had been awarded the title less than 20 minutes earlier, making him an 11-time World Champion. In the same event, Triple H also defeated Umaga in his first title defense after Mr. McMahon declared his already-scheduled bout with Umaga a title match. McMahon then announced Orton would receive a title rematch in a Last Man Standing match in the final match of the event; which Orton won and ended Triple H's sixth reign. Triple H's title reign at No Mercy is the fourth shortest reign in WWE history, only lasting through the duration of the event.

In the next weeks episode of RAW, Triple H was in a handicap match against Umaga and Orton who proceeded to destroy him after they were disqualified. This led to a match between Triple H and Umaga at Cyber Sunday in which fans voted between a Street Fight (57%), First Blood match (17%), or a Steel Cage match (26%). Triple H won the match after a Sledgehammer shot and a Pedigree.

Brian Kendrick

Brian David Kendrick (born May 29, 1979) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment performing on its RAW brand.

Kendrick has wrestled for numerous promotions in his career, winning at least one tag team championship in each promotion where he won any championship at all. During his time in World Wrestling Entertainment Kendrick, and his tag team partner Paul London, would be known as the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions since the title's inception.

Early career
Originally from Fairfax, Virginia, Kendrick moved to Olympia, Washington where he attended North Thurston High School. During his senior year, he worked as a dishwasher in a pizza parlor while saving money to attend wrestling school. In 1999, he moved to Texas to begin training at the NWA Southwest wrestling school and later attended the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy. It was there that Kendrick was given the nickname Spanky, which later became his ring name. He made his professional wrestling debut on October 8 1999 in a match with American Dragon that ended in a 10 minute time limit draw.

In February 2000, Spanky signed a developmental deal with the World Wrestling Federation, spending a year in the company's "farm territory", Memphis Championship Wrestling, before the promotion closed and Spanky was released from his contract. On February 23, 2002, Spanky wrestled on the premiere show of Ring of Honor (ROH), winning the match to gain an ROH contract. While in ROH, Spanky competed in several other promotions such as Heartland Wrestling Association and All Pro Wrestling, before leaving for Japan in June to compete in Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE (ZERO1). There, he wrestled under the ring name Leonardo Spanky, a gimmick proposed by Shinya Hashimoto due to Kendrick's resemblance to Leonardo DiCaprio. On June 29 he became the first AWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion in company history.


World Wrestling Entertainment
In late 2002, Kendrick signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) but was unable to compete until he completed his time in the independent circuit. He made his WWE debut on the January 9, 2003 edition of Velocity under the gimmick of a mascot representing the local sports team of the hometown in which he competed. He continued wearing masks for several weeks, each time competing under a different identity. On the May 1 edition of SmackDown! he reverted to his former "Spanky" ring name after he interrupted a promo by John Cena. The two feuded over their similar hip hop gimmicks, until May 22 when Cena defeated Spanky in a match. On October 30 Spanky began teaming with Paul London until January 13, 2004 when Kendrick left WWE to return to ZERO1.


Independent circuit
After leaving WWE Kendrick wrestled in different independent promotions. He returned to ZERO1 as "Spanky" and quickly captured the NWA International Lightweight Tag Team Championship with partner Low Ki on February 19, and again on September 19 with Kaz Hayashi, as well as winning the ZERO1-MAX United States Openweight Championship a year later. After a brief stint in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Spanky returned to ROH as well as debuting on its sister promotion Full Impact Pro (FIP) on December 17, winning the first ever Florida Rumble. In ROH he unsuccessfully competed for several titles such as the ROH Pure Championship, ROH World Championship and ROH World Tag Team Championship. In FIP Spanky won the FIP Tag Team Championship with Sal Rinauro on August 6, 2005.


World Wrestling Entertainment
In July 2005 Kendrick announced that after he had fulfilled his obligations on the independent circuit, he would return to WWE. He made his return during a live event on August 22, losing in a Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He then teamed with his former partner Paul London on the September 30 edition of Velocity. On December 16 the pair remade their image, wearing theatrical masks to the ring with matching vests and shorts.

London and Kendrick participated in a non-title match against WWE Tag Team Champions MNM on the February 10, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, which London and Kendrick lost. On April 7 they faced MNM again, picking up a win in a non-title match. They continued their winning streak on the champions, including singles victories for both Kendrick and London on MNM members Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury respectively. London and Kendrick won the WWE Tag Team Title at Judgment Day, thus defeating MNM six times in a row in singles and tag team matches altogether.

On August 11, K. C. James and Idol Stevens defeated the champions in a non-title match, igniting a feud between the two teams. During the rivalry, WWE Diva Ashley Massaro began accompanying London and Kendrick to the ring, acting as a valet to the team while combating the actions of James and Stevens' manager Michelle McCool.

On October 14, London and Kendrick became the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time, surpassing MNM's previous record of 145 days. However, they soon went on a losing streak to the team of William Regal and Dave Taylor. Regal defeated both in singles matches and on the December 8 edition of SmackDown!, Kendrick and London lost a non-title tag team match to the duo. During a scheduled title defense at Armageddon, London and Kendrick not only retained against Regal and Taylor but also won a Fatal Four Way tag team ladder match which also involved MNM and The Hardys.

On February 2, 2007, London and Kendrick suffered a non-title loss to the rookie team Deuce 'N Domino. In a title rematch at No Way Out, London and Kendrick retained the championship. However, London and Kendrick lost the championship to Deuce 'N Domino on the April 20 edition of SmackDown!, ending their reign at 331 days (SmackDown! was recorded on April 17). During the match London missed a moonsault from the ring apron to the floor (kayfabe) injuring his ribs, leaving Kendrick to battle Deuce 'N Domino alone. London and Kendrick unsuccessfully competed for the title on June 1 in a Triple Threat tag team match, which also involved Regal and Taylor, and lost a rematch on June 15 in a standard tag team match.

Kendrick, along with London, was drafted to the RAW brand on June 17 during the Supplemental Draft. They won their debut match on RAW against The World's Greatest Tag Team on June 18. On the September 3 edition of RAW they won a number one contender's match for Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch's World Tag Team Championship. At a house show on September 5, Kendrick and London defeated Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch to win the title only to lose it back to Cade and Murdoch three days later.

Elijah Burke

Elijah Samuel Burke (born May 24, 1978) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its ECW brand.

Burke is a former officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in Florida who would become an amateur boxer in Jacksonville's Club 5 and Club Plush where he claims to have had a 98-1 win/loss record. According to his WWE.com profile, Burke has a record of 103-1 with 102 knockouts in his amateur career. Both of these records are unsubstantiated. Still, according to WWE, the only loss he sustained was a disqualification, after he knocked his opponent out and refused to back down to his corner. Before each of his matches he writes the phrase "4-Up" on his wrist tape. According to Joey Styles, this stands for "four knuckles upside your head".


World Wrestling Entertainment
After signing with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), he was sent to their developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). There, he won the OVW Heavyweight Title on December 8, 2004. Burke was offered a spot in the Spirit Squad by the WWE Creative Team, but turned it down, forcing him to stay in Ohio Valley Wrestling on a longer stint before moving to Smackdown! with Sylvester Terkay.


SmackDown!
After training with OVW, Burke would be brought up to the main roster of SmackDown! on July 28, 2006 working a mixed martial arts cornerman gimmick with the also debuting former MMA fighter Sylvester Terkay. His first WWE match saw him defeating Scott Wright and he would also break Vito's 4 month winning streak while on SmackDown!, albeit with Terkay's assistance.


ECW
On November 7, 2006, Elijah Burke and Sylvester Terkay debuted on the ECW brand by cutting a backstage promo. The following week, Burke replaced Tazz, who had knee surgery, as color commentator alongside play-by-play announcer Joey Styles. Two weeks later, Burke returned to the ring; he and Terkay lost to The Hardys. At the ECW brand's December to Dismember pay-per-view, Burke and Terkay defeated the Full Blooded Italians, a feat which the duo have since repeated. The pair were later dubbed The Knock-Out / Tap-Out Connection, in reference to Burke's amateur boxing career and Terkay's Mixed Martial Arts background.

On January 18, 2007, Terkay was released from WWE. Since then, Burke has wrestled in singles matches, and appeared in a segment where WWE owner Vince McMahon showed disdain for members of the original ECW and called Burke to the ring, naming him "The Future Of ECW". Burke was then attacked by Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, and The Sandman, who would later form the ECW Originals stable. Burke then became the official leader of the "New Breed", a group of new ECW stars including Matt Striker, Marcus Cor Von and Kevin Thorn, who proceeded to feud with the ECW Originals. At WrestleMania 23, The New Breed faced off against The ECW Originals but were ultimately defeated.

After several weeks of trying to recruit fellow roster mate and new ECW superstar CM Punk, Burke and the New Breed were successful on April 10. However, just two weeks later, CM Punk betrayed the New Breed, attacking Burke after a match. The next week, Kevin Thorn quit the New Breed due to lack of interference in his match with CM Punk. The same night, Matt Striker and Marcus Cor Von were defeated by the Major Brothers, a debuting tag team. After being pinned, Burke screamed at Striker creating tension between the two. The New Breed would then feud with the ECW Originals, CM Punk and the Major Brothers at the same time. At Judgment Day, Burke was defeated by CM Punk. Then, at One Night Stand, Burke, Marcus Cor Von and Matt Striker were defeated by Tommy Dreamer, Sandman and CM Punk in a Tables Match. On June 19, 2007, Burke lost to Chris Benoit (which would be Benoit's last match before his death) in a match that would decide who would face either CM Punk or Marcus Cor Von for the vacant ECW World Championship at Vengeance: Night of Champions. Burke lost to CM Punk in a best two out of three falls match, which would see the winner becoming the number one contender to the Johnny Nitro's ECW Championship. On July 10, Burke rebounded with a decisive victory over Balls Mahoney. He was then named the number 1 contender for the ECW Championship and went on to face CM Punk at the Unforgiven pay-per-view where he was beaten after CM Punk cleanly pinned him. Two days later on ECW, an elimination chase was set up by ECW GM Armando Estrada. This challenge was to determine the number 1 contender to CM Punk's ECW Championship in order to compete for the title at No Mercy 2007. Estrada pitted four of the best wrestlers that ECW would offer (Burke, Kevin Thorn, Tommy Dreamer and Stevie Richards) in a fatal four way that night, which was won by Elijah Burke. It also meant the loser of the match, Stevie Richards, was out of the chase to No Mercy. The following week, Burke eliminated former New Breed comrade Kevin Thorn from the competition after Tommy Dreamer nailed Thorn with a Dreamer DDT.

Paul London

Paul Sanchez-Garcia London (born April 16, 1980) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment performing on its RAW brand.

London is a 1-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion, 1-time World Tag Team Champion and 2-time WWE Tag Team Champion. During his second WWE Tag Team Title reign, London and his partner, Brian Kendrick, would be known as the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions since the title's inception.

London has also previously worked for Ring of Honor, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE and various independent promotions.

Early career
London was born in Austin, Texas where he attended Westlake High School. While there, he helped create the school's first-ever wrestling team where he was the captain, first varsity letterman and still holds the record for the fastest pinfall time of 7.4 seconds. After graduating, London trained at several wrestling schools such as a trailer park in West Memphis, Arkansas and a school run by Ivan Putski in North Austin, Texas. He made his debut in the independent circuit on April 7, 2000, competing in promotions throughout Texas. It was there that he met the head trainer of the Texas Wrestling Academy, Rudy Gonzales, and enrolled in his school for further training. In August 2000, London attended Southwest Texas State University where he studied theatre. In 2001, he worked for the retail store Urban Outfitters.


Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
London made his debut in Ring of Honor (ROH) on March 30, 2002 in a match against Chris Marvel. He began a lengthy feud with Michael Shane during a tag team match for ROH contracts on July 27, 2002. During the bout, both Shane and London made simultaneous pinfalls on their opponent's partners. The referee only counted for Shane, giving his team the victory, which led to both London and Shane brawling. The two continued to feud over the next several months in matches such as Street Fights (where the crowd chanted "please don't die" due to London's high risk offense), a Triple Threat Match and a Gauntlet match.

On December 7, 2002 London won a tournament to capture the ROH Number One Contender's Trophy, guaranteeing a match for the ROH World Championship. He would lose the match three weeks later to then-champion Xavier. On February 8, 2003 London competed in a Triple Threat Match for the Number One Contender's Trophy, pinning A.J. Styles for the win. After the match, Xavier informed London that he would compete for the title immediately. London again lost to the champion. London's final match in ROH was for the title against Samoa Joe on July 19, 2003, in which he lost.

During his time in ROH, London made brief appearances in Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE (ZERO1) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). London competed in ZERO1 for several months, beginning in January 2003, before turning down a contract. On February 12, 2003 he made his TNA debut in a Gauntlet match against Jerry Lynn, which he lost. London competed mainly in the company's X Division, even earning shots at the NWA TNA X Division Championship. His last appearance in TNA was on June 18, 2003 at the TNA Anniversary show. He wrestled X Division Champion Chris Sabin for the title, only to lose due to interference from CM Punk.


World Wrestling Entertainment

2003–2004
London went on to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in mid–2003, working a few dark matches before being sent to the company's "farm territory", Ohio Valley Wrestling, on August 30. London made his official WWE television debut on the SmackDown! brand, losing to Brock Lesnar on October 9. After the match, Lesnar continued to attack London until fellow cruiserweight Spanky made the save. The two competed as a tag team on SmackDown!'s sister show Velocity until Spanky left the company in January 2004.

London then began a tag team with Billy Kidman on January 29, 2004. On the July 8 episode of SmackDown!, the duo won the WWE Tag Team Championship from the Dudley Boyz. They defended the title against the Dudleys on several occasions before losing the championship to René Duprée and Kenzo Suzuki on September 9, due to Kidman leaving London to fight by himself. Kidman's heel turn led to a feud between the two, which culminated at No Mercy where Kidman defeated London with a shooting star press. After the match, London was bleeding from the mouth and being stretchered when Kidman pulled him back into the ring with the stretcher and delivered another shooting star press to London's injured ribs. This storyline was put in place after London had broken his nose wrestling Booker T on an episode of SmackDown! a few weeks prior to the event. The nose required surgery and for London to miss a few months. London returned on November 25, wrestling on Velocity until the end of the year.


2005–2006
On March 10, 2005, London became the number one contender for Chavo Guerrero's WWE Cruiserweight Championship, which he later won in a cruiserweight battle royal. Guerrero challenged London for the title at Judgment Day, where London emerged victorious.

During another title match with Guerrero on June 23 The Mexicools stormed the ring, attacking both London and Guerrero. On the July 14 episode of SmackDown!, London teamed with Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki to face The Mexicools. The ending of the match saw Juventud perform the 450° splash on London for the win, but landing his knee onto London's face and legitimately injuring him in the process.

London went on to lose the Cruiserweight Title on the August 4 edition of Velocity to Nunzio. Later in the night, London cut a heel promo encouraging the fans to protest his title loss. London went on a losing streak before returning as a face and teaming with the newly rehired Brian Kendrick (also known as London's former teammate Spanky). On the December 16 edition of Velocity the pair remade their image, wearing theatrical masks to the ring and matching vests and shorts.

On the April 7, 2006 edition of SmackDown!, London and Kendrick defeated WWE Tag Team Champions MNM in a non-title match. They continued their winning streak on the champions, including singles victories for both Kendrick and London on Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury respectively. London and Kendrick won the WWE Tag Team Title at Judgment Day, thus defeating MNM six times in a row in singles and tag team matches altogether.

On August 11, K. C. James and Idol Stevens defeated the champions in a non-title match, igniting a feud between the two teams. During the rivalry, WWE Diva Ashley Massaro began accompanying London and Kendrick to the ring. She acted as a valet to the team, combating the actions of James and Stevens' manager Michelle McCool.

On October 14, London and Kendrick became the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time, surpassing MNM's previous record of 145 days. However, they soon went on a losing streak to the team of William Regal and Dave Taylor. Regal defeated both team members in singles matches and on the December 8 edition of SmackDown!, Kendrick and London lost a non-title tag team match to the pair. During a scheduled title defense at Armageddon, London and Kendrick not only retained against Regal and Taylor but would win a Fatal Four Way tag team ladder match which also involved MNM and The Hardys. On the January 12, 2007 edition of SmackDown! London and Kendrick were successful in retaining their championship against Regal and Taylor in a traditional tag team match.


2007
On February 2, 2007, London and Kendrick suffered a non-title loss to the rookie team Deuce 'N Domino. However, in a title rematch at No Way Out, London and Kendrick retained the championship. On March 17, 2007 London and Kendrick celebrated their 300th day as WWE Tag Team Champions. However, London and Kendrick lost the championship to Deuce 'N Domino on the April 20 edition of SmackDown!, ending their reign at 331 days (SmackDown! was recorded on April 17). During the match London missed a moonsault from the ring apron to the floor kayfabe injuring his ribs, leaving Kendrick to battle Deuce 'N Domino alone. Selling his injured ribs, London did not compete in the ring until the May 11 edition of SmackDown!, defeating Domino in singles competition. London and Kendrick unsuccessfully competed for the title on June 1 in a Triple Threat tag team match, which also involved Regal and Taylor, and lost a rematch on June 15 in a standard tag team match.

London, along with Kendrick, was drafted to the RAW brand on June 17 during the Supplemental Draft. They won their debut match on RAW against The World's Greatest Tag Team on June 18. On September 3 they won a number one contender's match for Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch's World Tag Team Championship. At a house show in South Africa on September 5, London and Kendrick defeated Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch to win the World Tag Team Title only to lose it back to Cade and Murdoch three days later.

John Morrison

John Randall Hennigan (born October 3, 1979) better known by his ring name John Morrison, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment performing on their ECW brand. He has won six Championships in the WWE: 3 WWE Tag Team Championships, 2 Intercontinental Championships, and 1 ECW Championship. He is also the co winner of Tough Enough 3.

Tough Enough
Before getting into professional wrestling, Hennigan attended University of California at Davis studying both film and to become a geologist. Deciding that wasn't right for him, he began his professional wrestling career training at the Supreme Pro Wrestling professional wrestling school. In 2002, he was accepted as a cast member for the third season of the WWE/MTV reality show WWE Tough Enough, eventually becoming co-winner with Matt Cappotelli. For winning he was awarded a WWE developmental contract and assigned to WWE's "farm territory" Ohio Valley Wrestling to continue his training, The duo made their first appearance on WWE television on an episode of Heat in January 2004, losing to Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak in a tag team match..


2004-2006
In March 2004 Hennigan debuted on the Raw brand. His character was depicted as the apprentice and assistant of Raw brand General Manager Eric Bischoff and given the ring name Johnny Blaze. The next week his name was changed to Johnny Spade, and the week after that it was changed to Johnny Nitro. It's worth noting that both the Johnny Spade and Johnny Blaze names had been in use before Hennigan used them, by an independent wrestler and by Marvel Comics respectively. The Nitro name, a name which finally stuck, was a reference to Monday Nitro, the flagship show of World Championship Wrestling which Bischoff had created, and to drive the point home he began using the Nitro theme music as his ring entrance music. Nitro acted as Bischoff's apprentice and assistant until the June 7 episode of Raw, during which he lost a match to Eugene which carried the stipulation that should he lose the match, he also lose his job.

After leaving Raw, Nitro returned to OVW and was put into a feud with his former partner Matt Cappotelli. During the course of the feud Melina Perez was brought in to the company as Nitro's ex-girlfriend and an ally of Cappotelli, only to double-cross him and side with Nitro. Not long after, they were joined by Joey Mercury, forming the stable "MNM". MNM wrestled in OVW for around a year, holding the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship once, before being called up to the main SmackDown! roster in April 2005. While on SmackDown!, they were put into feuds with the teams of Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, Mysterio and Batista, the new Legion of Doom, and Paul London and Brian Kendrick. MNM held the SmackDown! brand's WWE Tag Team Championship on three occasions, all in their rookie year on the brand. At May 2006's Judgment Day MNM dropped the tag team title to London and Kendrick, with Nitro and Melina suddenly turning on Mercury after the match, breaking up the group. Later in the night, after Melina lost a match to Jillian Hall in controversial fashion, she and Nitro complained to SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long until Melina slapped Long, getting both her and Nitro (kayfabe) fired from the brand.

The next week Nitro (with Melina) debuted on the Raw brand in a loss to WWE Champion John Cena. The following week, Melina faked a sprained ankle, which allowed Nitro to roll-up a distracted Charlie Haas for his first Raw brand win. Nitro immediately joined the hunt for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, finally defeating champion Shelton Benjamin at June's Vengeance in a Triple-Threat match, which also involved Carlito. Nitro held the belt, the first singles title of his career, for four months, feuding with several challengers before losing it to Jeff Hardy on the October 2 Raw. During his time on Raw, Nitro was also involved in a sporadic rivalry with John Cena, the man who defeated him in his first Raw match. The feud was unique in that it also involved non-wrestler Kevin Federline, who appeared on the October 16 Raw from Los Angeles. Federline was (kayfabe) trained by Nitro for a January 1, 2007 match with Cena, which he ended up winning after outside interference from Umaga.

In the meantime, Nitro recaptured the Intercontinental title from Jeff Hardy on November 6 when former friend, and General Manager for the night, Eric Bischoff restarted a match that Nitro had been disqualified from. The very next week, however, Hardy got the title back. In November 2006 MNM reunited on an episode of Raw to accept an "open challenge" from The Hardys (Matt and Jeff) for ECW December to Dismember. MNM and The Hardys feuded across the brands, with the feud intensifying after Mercury was (legitimately) injured at Armageddon in December.


2007
MNM continued on and off as a unit until Mercury was released from WWE in March 2007. Without Mercury, Nitro was paired up with Kenny Dykstra until the annual WWE draft, during which Nitro was sent to the ECW brand and Dykstra to SmackDown!. He made his ECW debut on June 19 with a win over Nunzio. The very next week, at the Vengeance pay-per-view, he replaced Chris Benoit in a match against CM Punk; for the vacant ECW World Championship, which he won, marking not only his first world title, but the first world title for any Tough Enough cast member in WWE. After winning the title, Nitro's name was changed to John Morrison and his character was tweaked to be more even more conceited and self-aggrandizing. After defeating CM Punk again at the Great American Bash, he began taking part in a "15 Minutes Of Fame" segment on the weekly ECW on Sci Fi television program, where if a wrestler could either defeat Morrison, or last 15 minutes without being defeated by Morrison, they would be granted a title shot. The first wrestler to do so turned out to be CM Punk, setting up another match between the two at SummerSlam, which Morrison won when he used the ring ropes for leverage. The next week, Punk again became #1 contender, this time taking the Championship at a September 1 television taping in Cincinnati, Ohio

After a brief absence, Morrison would return on the October 9 edition of ECW, defeating CM Punk in a non-title match after targeting his ribs through most of the match and ended with a reverse suplex from the top turnbuckle. In the following weeks he began a feud with The Miz resulting from losing a 3-on-2 handicap match teaming up with Big Daddy V against CM Punk and Kane. Soon after returning, John Morrison returned to seek a shot at the ECW Championship, and became one of the three choices for fans to vote for to face CM Punk for the title at Cyber Sunday. At Cyber Sunday, the Miz was voted over Morrison and Big Daddy V to face CM Punk for the ECW Championship in a losing effort.

Morrison continued to feud with the Miz afterwards and on the October 30 edition of ECW, he defeated the Miz in a #1 contender's match to face CM Punk for the championship the following week.
