Shawn Michaels

Michael Shawn Hickenbottom (born July 22, 1965), better known by his ring name Shawn Michaels, is an American professional wrestler. He performs on the RAW brand of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). As of 2007, Michaels is one of the senior performers in WWE, having joined in 1987. He is one of only two wrestlers (the other being The Undertaker) to have appeared on the very first episode of RAW Is WAR who are still with the company today. However, he was inactive in the company from 1998-2002 due to a legitimate severe back injury.

World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1988-1998, 2002-present)

1994-1995
He soon entered a feud with Razor Ramon, who had won the vacated Intercontinental Title during Michaels' absence. Since Michaels had never been defeated in the ring for the title, he claimed to be the rightful champion and even carried around his old title belt. This feud culminated in a ladder match between the two at WrestleMania X. Michaels lost the match, which featured both his and Ramon's belts suspended above a ladder in the ring. This match won "Match of the Year" awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It also earned Michaels a reputation of being the "Innovator of the Ladder Match" when, in reality, it was Bret Hart who brought in the idea two years previously from his experience in Stampede Wrestling where the Ladder Match had been used since the 1970s.

Michaels battled various injuries over the next few months and soon launched the "Heartbreak Hotel" TV talk show segment, mainly shown on WWF Superstars.

On August 28, 1994, Michaels and his ever more popular sidekick, Diesel, captured the WWF World Tag Team Championship from The Headshrinkers. During their brief time as a tag team, they used a variation of the Headshrinkers' finishing move, where Michaels finished off their opponent by climbing on Diesel's shoulders and splashed their opponents. The next day, at SummerSlam, Diesel lost the Intercontinental Title to Ramon when Michaels accidentally Superkicked his bodyguard. This triggered a Michaels-Diesel split, a storyline that was drawn out until the Survivor Series that November due to Michaels' hand injury. Michaels went on to win the 1995 Royal Rumble, where he was the first Royal Rumble participant to win the match from the No.1 spot. This set up a championship grudge match at WrestleMania XI against Diesel. Michaels recruited Sid as his bodyguard for the build-up, lost the match, and was kayfabe attacked by Sid the following night. After this, Michaels took time off.

He returned to the ring as a 'babyface' in June 1995 and defeated Jeff Jarrett in July to win his third Intercontinental Title. This led to a title defense against Razor Ramon at SummerSlam, in a Ladder Match, which Michaels won. Around this time, Michaels became the alleged leader of a backstage group known as The Clique. Others perceived the group to have sufficient clout with WWF owner Vince McMahon, becoming dominant wrestling figures in WWF for several years in the mid-1990s. Michaels disputes the perception, saying that McMahon pushed only deserving wrestlers. Michaels' fan base was later nicknamed "The Kliq" as an inside reference to the real "Clique."

In October 1995, he was legitimately attacked by several men outside a bar in Syracuse, New York. Shortly afterwards, at the In Your House: Great White North PPV, Michaels forfeited the Intercontinental Title to rival Dean Douglas because he was, according to the WWF, unable to compete. However, Douglas lost the title immediately to Clique member Razor Ramon. Douglas maintained that Michaels could have wrestled that night and simply did not want to put him over.

The next month, during a match with Owen Hart on Monday Night RAW, Owen nailed Michaels with an Enzuigiri kick to the back of Michaels' head. They continued to wrestle, but Michaels collapsed in the ring, supposedly because he had suffered a concussion in the Syracuse incident. The concussion was a work, skillfully kept from most fans at the time.


1996-1997

After teasing a retirement, Michaels announced that he would be returning to the WWF at the 1996 Royal Rumble match, which he won for the second year in a row. Around this time, Jose Lothario, Michaels' original trainer, became his on-screen manager.

Michaels won his first WWF Championship at WrestleMania XII in March 1996, pinning Bret Hart in the 'sudden death' overtime of their a sixty minute Iron Man match, which had ended in a 0-0 tie. As WCW gained momentum due to the signings of Michaels' friends Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, Michaels soldiered on as champion for most of the year, notably overcoming Mankind, Vader, and The British Bulldog in pay-per-view battles.

Michaels' title reign ended at the 1996 Survivor Series in November, where he lost to Sycho Sid, his former bodyguard, at Madison Square Garden in a face vs. face match. This match was notable for the New York fans cheering for Sid when he hit both Michaels and Jose Lothario with a television camera and cheering again when he won the match and championship. A flu-ridden Michaels recaptured the belt from Sid in January at the 1997 Royal Rumble in front of his hometown fans in San Antonio.

On a special episode of RAW, dubbed Thursday RAW Thursday, Michaels vacated the WWF title; he explained to the fans that he was informed by doctors that a knee injury was bad enough that he had to retire. His speech was regarded as controversial, as Michaels was allegedly unwilling to lose to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 (since it was noted that he was going to have a rematch with Hart at WrestleMania). Michaels contemplated thoughts of retirement and stated that he "had to find his smile again", which he had "lost" somewhere down the line.

After knee surgery by Dr. James Andrews, Michaels returned a few months later, briefly teaming with Steve Austin to win the WWF Tag Team Titles. Michaels reveals in his autobiography, about his real-life feud with Bret Hart, claiming that Bret did interviews on live television claiming that he [Michaels] was faking his whole injury.

At SummerSlam 1997, Michaels officiated the WWF title match between WWF Champion The Undertaker and Bret Hart. The match ended in controversial fashion, with Michaels nailing Undertaker with a chair (unintentionally, as he was aiming for Hart after he spat in his face). Michaels was then forced to award the title to his nemesis, Bret Hart. At WWF One Night Only, held in Birmingham, England in September, Michaels defeated The British Bulldog to capture the WWF European Championship. The fans at the event were so appalled at the result of the match they almost rioted and booed Michaels out of the building to the extent that they littered the ring with rubbish. Michaels' striking of the Undertaker with a chair began a feud between the two men. In October, at In Your House: Badd Blood, Michaels and Undertaker participated in the very first Hell in a Cell match, which saw Michaels falling off the side of the 15-foot high structure through a table. Michaels won the match with the help of the Undertaker's brother Kane, who made his debut.


In the summer, Michaels joined forces with real-life friend, Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Hunter's then-girlfriend, Chyna to form the stable, D-Generation X (DX). The group engaged in rebellious behavior, such as using the DX slogan "Suck it!", in addition to the crotch chop towards other wrestlers, and sometimes the fans. Moving away from the family-oriented product, this marked the beginning of the WWF Attitude Era. Michaels also began re-feuding with Bret Hart's reformed Hart Foundation, which was now a pro-Canada stable. Michaels taunted The Hart Foundation and Canada by engaging in acts, such as blowing his nose with and humping the Canadian Flag. In his book, Heartbreak & Triumph, Michaels claims the flag desecration was Bret's idea.

Michaels' feud with the Hart Foundation culminated in a title shot at the 1997 Survivor Series against Bret Hart, in what is thought to be the most controversial match in wrestling history. Michaels came out of this match, dubbed by fans the "Montreal Screwjob", as the WWF World Champion. Michaels thus became the only wrestler to hold both the World Championship and the European Championship at the same time. However, Triple H pinned him in December during a farcical match, making Hunter the European Champion.


1998-Injury
In 1998, Michaels received a back injury in the Casket match against The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble; Michaels took a back body drop to the outside of the ring and smashed his lower back on the casket, causing him to herniate two discs and crush one completely. This forced Michaels into retirement after dropping the WWF Championship to Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV.

Michaels returned to the WWF on November 23, 1998, but not as a wrestler; instead, he replaced Sgt. Slaughter as the WWF Commissioner, joining Vince McMahon's Corporation stable as a heel. Throughout late 1998 and early 1999, Michaels made regular TV appearances, booking matches, throwing around his authority, and sometimes even deciding the outcome of matches. In early 1999, Michaels turned face and re-joined D-Generation X, but disappeared from WWF television for a few months, and by the time he had returned, DX had broken up.

Michaels made occasional appearances on WWF television as a face commissioner during the spring and summer of 1999. It appeared as that he would once again turn heel during the premiere episode of SmackDown! on August 26, 1999 when, while serving as a special guest referee, he superkicked The Rock, allowing Triple H to retain the WWF Championship. However, after this referee appearance, Michaels was absent from WWF television until May 21, 2000 when he returned as a face to officiate the Iron Man match between the Rock and Triple H. One month later, Michaels briefly reappeared to hand over the role of commissioner to Mick Foley and afterwards was absent from WWF television for nearly a year.

At the time being, knowningly that his wrestling career was over. Michaels was inspired to train individuals who were much interested in wrestling. He saw potential in using his name and opening The Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy, after his lawyer, Skip McCormick, suggested the idea. However, hardships and challenges made Michaels have enough of the academy.


2002-Return to RAW
In 2002, Michaels returned to wrestling, and was brought into the nWo by Kevin Nash as a new member of the stable. After the nWo was disbanded, Triple H appeared to want to make amends with Michaels. This was solidified when Michaels beseeched Triple H to return to RAW. Later on, they came down to the ring sporting their D-Generation X music and attire. When the pair was about to perform their trademark "Suck It" taunt, Triple H nailed Michaels with his finisher The Pedigree. Continuing the storyline, a week later, Triple H attacked Michaels from behind in a parking lot and put his head through a car window. In response, Michaels challenged Triple H to "a fight" (a non-sanctioned match) at SummerSlam 2002, which Triple H accepted.

Michaels returned to the ring to wrestle the match against Triple H at SummerSlam, laying the foundation for a feud that lasted for years. This match was noted for Michaels' emotional in-ring return after more than four years on the shelf. Michaels won at SummerSlam but was attacked by Triple H with a sledgehammer after the match.

At Survivor Series 2002, Michaels won the World Heavyweight Championship from Triple H in the first-ever Elimination Chamber match, which also featured Rob Van Dam, Kane, Chris Jericho, and Booker T. Michaels eliminated both Jericho and Triple H to win the match. This title win also marked the first time in WWE history that a wrestler won a World Championship in any type of steel cage match. A month later, Michaels was booked to lose the World Championship to Triple H in a Three Stages Of Hell match at the Armageddon pay-per-view.


2003-2004

Michaels' match with Chris Jericho at WrestleMania XIX in March 2003 was his first match at a WrestleMania since his back surgery in 1998.Michaels then proceeded to feud with Chris Jericho. On January 13, 2003, Jericho won an over-the-top-rope challenge to select his entry number for the Royal Rumble, choosing number two in order to start the match with Michaels, who had already been named number one. At the Royal Rumble, Jericho, with the help of Christian, eliminated Michaels. Michaels defeated Jericho at WrestleMania XIX. After the match, Michaels offered his hand to Jericho who, instead of shaking it, hugged Michaels. At first it seemed like good sportsmanship by Chris Jericho until he quickly kicked Michaels in the groin.

At SummerSlam 2003, Michaels competed in the second-ever Elimination Chamber Match, which also featured Randy Orton, Kevin Nash, Chris Jericho, Goldberg, and eventual winner, World Heavyweight Champion, Triple H. During the match, Michaels helped Chris Jericho eliminate Kevin Nash, which prompted Nash to attack both men before exiting the chamber. Later in the match, Michaels was eliminated by Goldberg. He then went on to feud with Evolution member Randy Orton, who defeated Michaels at Unforgiven. At the 2003 Survivor Series, Team Austin (consisting of Michaels, Rob Van Dam, Booker T, and The Dudley Boyz) faced-off with Team Bischoff (Scott Steiner, Mark Henry, Chris Jericho, Christian, and Randy Orton). During the match, Evolution member Batista interfered and gave Michaels a Batista Bomb, costing him the match. Michaels then entered a feud with Batista; the two met at Armageddon where Michaels defeated him.

As a part of an ongoing feud with Triple H, the two competed along side Chris Benoit in the main event match at WrestleMania XX for the World Heavyweight Championship. The former DX partners both came up short in the match, however, as Benoit had been booked to win the title. At Bad Blood 2004 in June, Michaels lost to Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match. The next night on RAW, Kane attacked Michaels with a steel chair, (kayfabe) injuring him in the process. Michaels made his return at Unforgiven and defeated Kane in a No Disqualification Match. Two months later, he lost a World Heavyweight Championship match against Triple H (after Edge interfered) at Taboo Tuesday 2004 when the fans voted for him ahead of Edge and Chris Benoit to face Triple H one more time. Following this, Michaels was out of action for a few months with a legitimate torn meniscus.


2005-2006
Michaels returned in January 2005 as the special guest referee in the Elimination Chamber Match (which featured Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Edge, Randy Orton, Batista, and eventual winner Triple H) at New Year's Revolution 2005. During the match, Michaels superkicked Edge, starting a feud between the two.

At the 2005 Royal Rumble, Edge defeated Michaels, who pinned him using the ropes for leverage. Michaels went on to compete in the Rumble match later that night and eliminated Kurt Angle. An angry Angle returned to the ring and eliminated Michaels and then put Michaels in the Ankle Lock. Michaels issued a challenge to Angle for a match at WrestleMania 21, which Angle accepted when he appeared on RAW to attack Michaels. The following week on RAW, Marty Jannetty and Michaels had a one time reunion as The Rockers and defeated La Résistance. Three days later on SmackDown!, Angle defeated Jannetty with the Ankle Lock. To send a "message" to Michaels; Angle also humiliated HBK's former manager Sensational Sherri, when he applied the Ankle Lock on her. At WrestleMania 21 on April 3, 2005, Angle defeated Michaels by submission, again with the Ankle Lock.

The next night on RAW, Muhammad Hassan and Daivari came out to confront and assault Michaels. The following week, Michaels approached RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff demanding a handicap match with Hassan and Daivari. Bischoff refused but informed Michaels to find a partner and he would grant a match. Michaels then made a plea for Hulk Hogan to come back and team with him. On the April 18, 2005 episode of RAW, Hassan again led an attack on Michaels until Hogan appeared to save Michaels and accept his offer. At Backlash 2005, Hassan and Daivari lost to Hogan and Michaels when Daivari was pinned.

On the July 4, 2005 edition of RAW, Michaels and Hulk Hogan had a tag team match, in which they ended up winning. During the post-match pose, Michaels hit Hogan with his Superkick, knocking Hogan to the ground and turning Michaels heel for the first time since returning in 2002. The following week on RAW, HBK appeared on Piper's Pit where he superkicked Roddy Piper and then challenged Hulk Hogan to a match at SummerSlam. Prior to SummerSlam 2005, neither Hogan nor Michaels had lost in a one-on-one match at SummerSlam. Hogan defeated Michaels at SummerSlam. After the match Michaels extended his hand to him, saying "I needed to know, and I found out" and he and Hogan shook hands. Michaels left the ring to allow Hogan to celebrate with the crowd and Michaels turned face once more.


Michaels began a feud with Chris Masters. The pair faced each other in a match at Unforgiven 2005 where Michaels won via pinfall. At Taboo Tuesday 2005, Michaels won the fans choice for the second year running and became a part of the Triple Threat match with John Cena and Kurt Angle. Cena would retain the WWE Championship.

On the December 26, 2005 edition of RAW, Vince McMahon lauded Michaels for his part in the Montreal Screwjob. Michaels said he was only being loyal to his company, but said he had moved on and McMahon should move on as well. McMahon told Michaels he can "screw" him like he screwed Bret Hart, and he began setting unusual stipulations for Michaels' matches and interfering on behalf of Michaels' opponents.

During the 2006 Royal Rumble, to which Michaels entered twenty fifth, he eliminated MNM and Shelton Benjamin in succession to make it into the final six. At that point, Mr. McMahon’s music hit, and the Chairman made his entrance. As HBK stared down McMahon, Shane McMahon made a surprising appearance, attacking Michaels from behind and eliminating him from the match. An irate HBK ran back into the ring and nailed Triple H with Sweet Chin Music before chasing the McMahons to the locker room.

After several weeks of attacks and stipulations, Michaels confronted McMahon in the ring and challenged him to a match. McMahon refused and attempted (unsuccessfully) to force Michaels to sign retirement papers. After Vince and Shane knocked HBK out with a steel chair, Mr. McMahon booked a match between himself and HBK at WrestleMania 22. During a handicap match against the Spirit Squad Michaels former partner Marty Jannetty came down to help Michaels. Mr. McMahon offered Jannetty a contract if he "kissed his ass." The next week on RAW Jannetty refused and took Chris Masters' "Masterlock challenge" instead. Michaels tried to help Jannetty, which ultimately ended in Shane forcing a groggy Michaels to kiss Vince's ass.

Michaels and Shane McMahon then met in a Street Fight at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. Throughout the match, Vince interfered, allowing Shane to get the upper hand. However, Michaels kept kicking out and refused to submit. When he got the upper hand again by superkicking Shane, Vince knocked the ref down before the three count. Michaels went after Vince, which gave Shane enough time to hit Michaels with a low blow from behind. Shane applied the Sharpshooter, and Vince McMahon immediately ordered for the bell to be rung, even though Michaels did not tap out; an allusion to the Montreal Screwjob.

Despite interference from the Spirit Squad and Shane McMahon, Michaels defeated Mr. McMahon at WrestleMania 22 in a bloody No Holds Barred match. The match is noted for being the start of the DX reunion that was soon to come. At Backlash 2006, Vince and Shane McMahon beat Michaels (with "God" as his tag team partner) with help from the Spirit Squad in a no DQ match; Michaels suffered a partially broken nose. Michaels got revenge on the Spirit Squad in various ways, but by May 22, the Squad injured Michaels' knee; this angle was written so that Michaels could have surgery on his knee, which had been legitimately injured for some time.


Return of D-Generation X

In 2006, a series of events took place which suggested a reunion of Shawn Michaels and Triple H as D-Generation X starting at WrestleMania 22 where both Michaels and Triple H performed the crotch chop during their matches. The two continued to deliver chops in the following episodes of WWE RAW as Michaels feuded with Vince McMahon and Triple H went for the WWE Championship, repeatedly butting heads with Vince McMahon in the process.

On the June 12, 2006 edition of RAW, DX officially reunited. During Triple H's gauntlet match against the Spirit Squad, Michaels came in to help Triple H, and the two did the DX "crotch chops." At Vengeance, DX defeated the Spirit Squad in a 5-on-2 handicap match. After the win, the group continued its sophomoric antics at the expense of The Spirit Squad, Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, and Jonathan Coachman for several weeks. They then defeated the Spirit Squad at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in a 5-2 elimination match and went on to defeat The McMahons (Vince and Shane) at SummerSlam. They defeated The McMahons again, but this match also involved Big Show in a Hell in a Cell match at Unforgiven.

At Cyber Sunday, DX took on Rated-RKO (Edge and Randy Orton). The fan-selected referee Eric Bischoff allowed the illegal use of a steel chair to give Rated RKO the ill-gotten win, and the plaudit of being the first tag team to defeat DX in a tag team match since their reformation in June 2006. However, at Survivor Series, Team DX emerged victorious, in a clean sweep of Team Rated-RKO.


2007

Michaels displaying the DX "X"At New Year's Revolution, Michaels' partner, Triple H suffered a (legit) torn right quadriceps during their match with Rated-RKO. Rated-RKO claimed victory over DX, citing the injury as the "end" of DX. On January 15, 2007, HBK lived up to his vow of "dealing" with Rated-RKO when he took out Randy Orton with a con-chair-to after a handicap match against Edge and Orton.

On the January 29, 2007 edition of RAW, Michaels captured the World Tag Team Championship for the fourth time from Rated-RKO alongside WWE Champion John Cena. He then won a Triple Threat Number One contender's match on another edition of RAW to earn a shot at the WWE Championship. On April 1 at WrestleMania 23, Cena defeated Michaels in the main event, with the WWE Championship on the line, after he was forced to submit to the STFU. The next night on RAW, Michaels and Cena competed in two back-to back 10 team battle royals, winning the first against Booker T and Finlay, and lost the tag team titles in the second battle royal when Michaels threw Cena over the top rope. The eventual winners were the The Hardys.

Michaels' feud with Cena continued and he faced off with Cena, Edge, and Randy Orton in a Fatal Four Way match at Backlash for the WWE Championship. Cena retained the title once again when Michaels hit Sweet Chin Music on Cena causing him to fall on Orton, which gained Cena the pinfall.

The Great Khali defeated Michaels in a no disqualification #1 contender's match when he was choke bombed through the announce table, causing the referee to end the match. Michaels then entered a feud with Randy Orton when Orton claimed that he could beat Michaels. Michaels then faced off against Orton at Judgment Day. The week before the match, Michaels was attacked by Orton twice after his match with Edge and backstage at Judgment Day, (which contributed to his injury from Khali); However, Orton went on to defeat Michaels, when he collapsed during the match. Michaels was then joined by his wife, Rebecca, in the ring and taken out of the arena on a stretcher.

Michaels made his return on the October 8 edition of RAW, delivering his trademark Sweet Chin Music to the newly-crowned WWE Champion, Randy Orton, during his title ceremony at the end of the show, and then celebrating over the knocked-out champion as Mr. McMahon watched on. At Cyber Sunday, Michaels was voted by the fans to face Randy Orton for the WWE Championship; though he won via disqualification when Orton hit Michaels with a low blow, which resulted in Orton retaining the title.

Edge

Adam Joseph Copeland (born October 30, 1973 in Orangeville, Ontario), better known by his ring name Edge, is a Canadian professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment, wrestling on the SmackDown! brand. He is currently inactive due to a legitimate pectoral tear.

Copeland initially rose through the ranks as one half of the tag team Edge and Christian, alongside his real-life best friend and storyline brother Christian. He is noted for being one of the most decorated tag team champions in wrestling history, winning a record 12 tag team titles in WWE.

Copeland is a three-time world champion: a two-time WWE Champion and a one-time World Heavyweight Champion. In addition he won the 2001 King of the Ring and the 2005 Money in the Bank ladder match.

Aside from professional wrestling, Copeland has made guest appearances in television shows including: The Weakest Link, Deal or No Deal, MADtv, and Mind of Mencia.

Throughout the 1990s, Copeland wrestled on the independent circuit in Ontario and the Great Lakes region of the United States under the name Sexton Hardcastle. He became a part of the tag team Sex and Violence with Joe Legend. During 1997, Sex and Violence became part of a larger stable known as Thug Life, made up of Legend, Hardcastle, childhood friend Christian Cage, Bloody Bill Skullion, and Rhino Richards. During his independent career, he won the SSW Tag Title and the ICW Street Fight Tag Title twice with Cage, in addition to his reign as ICW/MWCW Midwest Unified Tag Title holder alongside Joe.

The duo of Copeland and Reso was known as Hard Impact before changing their name to The Suicide Blondes. In 1996, the duo worked in Japan under the name the Canadian Rockers . Copeland also once wrestled under the name Damon Striker (although Edge writes it as Damien Stryker in his book) on an edition of WCW Pro against Meng and Kevin Sullivan. In his autobiography, Copeland claims that he wrestled for WCW only once and solely for the money, and that it was his worst gimmick to date. According to Copeland, he and Terry Richards are the only people that remember that he wrestled for WCW at all.


World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment
In 1998, Copeland was signed by the World Wrestling Federation and made his television debut on the June 22 episode of RAW is WAR as Edge, a loner character who entered the arena through the crowd for his matches. His character's persona included him walking around the city streets aimlessly and beating up defenseless bystanders. His first televised match was against Jose Estrada, Jr., which ended prematurely by countout when Edge performed a somersault senton from the ring to the outside, legitimately injuring Estrada's neck.

In his first pay-per-view match, SummerSlam 1998, he served as Sable's mystery tag team partner against Jacqueline and Marc Mero, and bodyslammed Sable onto Mero in a pinning position to pick up the win.


1999-2000
Edge was then placed into a feud against the vampire wrestler Gangrel. During the feud, Gangrel introduced Christian, Edge's kayfabe brother, as his ally. Eventually, Gangrel and Christian convinced Edge to join them, and the three of them formed a stable known as The Brood. The Brood as a whole was later abducted by and converted into The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness. In May 1999, the Brood broke away from The Ministry after Christian was attacked by Ken Shamrock and forced to reveal the location of the captive Stephanie McMahon. The Undertaker chose to have Christian punished for his trespass, but Edge and Gangrel stood by him and turned against The Undertaker.

Following a short feud with the Ministry, they began a feud with The Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy). Soon, however, Gangrel turned on Edge and Christian and formed The New Brood with their enemies, The Hardy Boyz. Even after the New Brood split, Edge & Christian continued to feud with The Hardy Boyz. The two teams competed in a tag team ladder match at the 1999 No Mercy pay-per-view for the "managerial services" of Terri Runnels and $100,000, which the Hardy Boyz won. On April 2 at WrestleMania 2000, Edge and Christian defeated the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz to win their first WWF Tag Team Title in a triple threat Ladder match which birthed the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.

Following this victory, Edge and Christian found success as a heel duo, shifting their gimmick from borderline goth to a comedic pair of "cool dudes", winning the WWF Tag Team Title six more times (for a total of seven). During this time, their trademark became the "five second pose" where they performed a pose in the ring for five seconds "for the benefit of those with flash photography" to mock, insult, or otherwise amuse the fans. They also competed as a team in the first three Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches, winning the first two over The Dudley Boyz and The Hardy Boyz, at SummerSlam 2000 and then again at WrestleMania X-Seven.


2001-2002
At the 2001 Royal Rumble Edge and Christian were defeated by the Dudley Boyz and lost the World Tag Team title. They unsuccessfully attempted to regain their tag team title at No Way Out 2001 against the Dudley Boyz and the Brothers of Destruction, but they succeeded at WrestleMania X-Seven against the Dudley Boyz and The Hardyz in the second Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.

Edge went on to solidify himself as a burgeoning singles star by winning the 2001 King of the Ring tournament. Christian turned on Edge shortly afterward, and the two feuded over Edge's Intercontinental Championship, which Edge lost to him and won right back. Then, Edge lost the Intercontinental Title to Test and shortly afterward won the then WCW United States Championship from Kurt Angle. Edge defeated Test at Survivor Series 2001 to unify the Intercontinental Championship with the U.S. Championship.

Throughout the winter months of 2001, Edge feuded with then-Intercontinental Champion William Regal for the title. Edge came up short in the feud. When WrestleMania X8 came around, Edge found himself in a match with Booker T that was the result of Edge beating out Booker for a fictitious Japanese shampoo endorsement.

Shortly after defeating Booker T at WrestleMania, Edge was drafted to the SmackDown! brand in the first WWE Draft Lottery. Upon arriving there, he began a feud against Kurt Angle, which culminated in Edge shaving Kurt's head following a hair vs. hair match at Judgment Day. It was also during this feud that Edge started the "you suck" chants every time Kurt Angle entered a WWE ring, usually in tune with Angle's entrance music. When Rey Mysterio made his SmackDown! debut, he and Edge formed a team and captured the WWE Tag Team Championship. He also received matches for the WWE Championship against title holders Brock Lesnar and Big Show.


2003-2004
In February 2003, Edge suffered a legit neck injury and had to undergo surgery with Dr. Lloyd Youngblood. Recovery kept him sidelined for close to a year . He was scheduled to return to the ring in February 2004, but he suffered a legitimate broken hand just before his planned return, forcing him to stay out of the ring for an additional month. He was placed on the RAW brand in the WWE Draft after WrestleMania XX and returned to in-ring action shortly after that event. On the April 19, 2004 edition of RAW he and Chris Benoit won the World Tag Team Championship. They continued a close partnership even after losing the title, but it was disbanded when Edge won the Intercontinental Championship at Vengeance 2004 from Randy Orton. He then began to turn heel by cheating to keep the title and getting confrontational with ally Chris Jericho. Following a (legit) groin injury in a non-televised match, RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff stripped Edge of the Intercontinental title.

Upon his return, Edge's character became that of a crazed heel with severe anger management problems centered around his obsession for the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge, Benoit, and Shawn Michaels received a chance for a title shot for Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship at Taboo Tuesday 2004. Michaels won the audience vote to receive the title shot, giving Edge and Benoit a Tag Title shot. During the match, Edge abandoned his partner (although Benoit managed to win the title on his own) and instead interfered in the main event, costing Michaels the championship.

In December, both Edge and Benoit competed in a #1 contender's battle royal, but eliminated each other simultaneously at the conclusion of the match, resulting in a draw. Due to this, the World Heavyweight Champion Triple H was forced to defend the title in a triple threat match. In the match, Benoit locked on the Crippler Crossface on Edge, who shifted his weight putting Benoit's shoulders on the mat for a pin. This match also ended in a draw for Benoit and Edge, as Benoit made Edge submit at the same time the referee counted a pinfall for Edge. As a result, the World Heavyweight Title was vacated the next week on RAW.


2005-2006

Edge got another shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at New Year's Revolution 2005 in an Elimination Chamber. Edge and Shawn Michaels (acting as special guest referee) renewed their rivalry when Michaels hit Edge with Sweet Chin Music as retaliation for an accidental Spear, causing Edge to be eliminated first. Edge went on to defeat Michaels at the 2005 Royal Rumble later in the month. Subsequently, at WrestleMania 21, Edge won the first ever "Money in the Bank ladder match", gaining himself a contract that gave him a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship within one year.

It was around this time that Copeland came under heavy criticism due to his affair with Amy Dumas, who was known on-screen as Lita. Dumas had been the girlfriend of Copeland's close real-life friend, Matt Hardy. When Dumas suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, she was put out of action, and it was during this time that Copeland, despite being married, began an affair with her while she was still in a relationship with Hardy. Shortly after the incident became public knowledge, WWE released Hardy. After Hardy returned, however, the real-life situation was translated into a storyline.

Nevertheless, or perhaps because of this, Edge was paired with Lita in an angle where she turned on her kayfabe husband Kane. On the July 11 edition of RAW, Edge's match with Kane was interrupted when Matt Hardy made a surprising appearance. The situation was a worked shoot, with Hardy referring to Edge as "Adam" and issuing a threat to Lita as well. When Hardy was officially brought back to RAW, he and Edge continued their feud, including a match at SummerSlam 2005 where Edge defeated Hardy, causing Hardy to have "excessive blood loss." They also competed in a Street Fight, which resulted in a no-contest when Hardy performed a Side Effect on Edge off the entrance ramp into the sound speakers and other electrical equipment. They also fought in a Steel cage match at Unforgiven 2005 that Matt won after a leg drop on Edge from the top of the cage. The feud culminated in a "Loser Leaves RAW Ladder Match" at WWE Homecoming, which Edge won, causing Hardy to move to SmackDown!.

Shortly after the Homecoming victory, Edge suffered a legitimate torn pectoral muscle that kept him shelved for several weeks. During his time off, he starred in his own talk show segment on RAW entitled The Cutting Edge, dubbing himself the "Rated-R Superstar". Edge used his talk show to start a feud with Ric Flair following Flair's well-publicized arrest in connection with a road rage incident. Edge eventually began using The Cutting Edge as a soapbox to run down Flair until, after weeks of public mockery, Flair eventually showed up and attacked Edge.

Edge and Flair formally met at New Year's Revolution 2006 in a match where Edge was disqualified. Later that night, following the main event Elimination Chamber match, Vince McMahon appeared on stage and declared that John Cena would defend the WWE Championship he'd just retained "one more time." An already bloodied and fatigued Cena was forced into a match against Edge, who decided to cash in his Money in the Bank contract at that moment. Edge defeated Cena in less than two minutes after two spears to become WWE Champion for the first time, as well as a Triple Crown Champion.

In an interview conducted after New Year's Revolution on WWE.com, Edge announced that he and Lita would have "hot, torrid sex" in the middle of the ring on RAW the next night to celebrate his victory. On RAW, Edge held up to that promise by engaging in foreplay with Lita until they were interrupted by Ric Flair, who called Edge a disgrace and "dead in the bed." Flair, however, ended up on the receiving end of a con-chair-to on the announcers' table until John Cena came out to rescue Flair and deliver an F-U to a half-naked Lita much to the surprise of Edge. The "Live Sex Celebration" segment earned RAW a 5.2 rating, the highest RAW rating in over a year, leading Edge to call himself the "most-watched WWE Champion in the last 5 years" due to the high ratings.


Three weeks later, at the 2006 Royal Rumble, Edge lost the WWE Championship back to Cena. He then lost a return match on a special Thursday edition of RAW held on February 16, 2006. Edge blamed special guest referee Mick Foley for his loss, claiming biased officiating and attacked him. At Saturday Night's Main Event, Foley got revenge on Edge by assaulting him with a Con-chair-to. They feuded until WrestleMania 22 in April, where Edge defeated Foley in a Hardcore match by spearing him through a flaming table. The victory brought Edge's WrestleMania record to 5-0, the second best undefeated streak at WrestleMania (second only to The Undertaker's being 14-0 at that point in time).

Edge then challenged John Cena for his title in a Triple Threat match including Triple H at Backlash 2006, where Cena pinned Triple H to retain the title. After Backlash, Edge continued his feud with Mick Foley as they entered a Triple Threat Hardcore Match. However, Foley immediately attacked friend Tommy Dreamer with Edge's assistance. Edge and Foley then proclaimed that, because of their brutal match at WrestleMania, they were the true Hardcore Champions. At One Night Stand 2006, Edge, Foley, and Lita defeated Dreamer, Terry Funk, and Beulah McGillicutty in an "Extreme Rules" tag team match.

During the ECW feud, Edge also won the #1 contendership for the WWE Title against Big Show on RAW. While #1 contender, Edge interfered in a WWE Title match between champion John Cena and challenger Rob Van Dam, helping Van Dam win the title. However, Edge was unable to win the title at Vengeance 2006. Two weeks later on RAW, Edge pinned Rob Van Dam in a Triple Threat No Disqualification Match, after blindsiding John Cena with the title belt, to become WWE Champion for the second time. The match marked the first time the WWE Championship changed hands on RAW since October 8, 2001. This re-ignited his feud with John Cena, and Edge lost by disqualification at SNME in order to retain his title. As a result of these tactics, Cena snapped and FU'ed him through the Spanish announcers' table. Subsequently, a match was made for SummerSlam 2006 with the stipulation that if Edge was disqualified, he would not only lose the match, but also his title. At SummerSlam, Edge retained his title by pinning Cena after he hit him in the back of the head with brass knuckles while Lita distracted the referee.


On the next night's RAW, Lita threw John Cena's customized "spinner" belt into the Long Island Sound at Edge's command, who declared it the end of the "Cena era" in his life. Edge later unveiled the new "Rated R" version of the belt. Cena, however, interfered in Edge's match later that night, chased him down to the outside of the building, beat him down, and tossed him into the polluted Long Island Sound himself. The next week, Cena came out, procuring a "three year" contract to SmackDown! and promising to sign it if Edge could beat him one more time. Edge agreed, on the condition the match be a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match (TLC) held at Unforgiven 2006 in Edge's home town of Toronto. At the event, he lost the championship after Cena FUed him through two stacked tables from a ladder. Edge claimed that as a result of the blow, he was legitimately knocked out for the first time in his career.

On the October 2 episode of RAW, interference from D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels and Triple H) cost Edge his "final chance" at Cena's WWE Championship in a Steel cage match, though their interference was a response to the interference of Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. On October 9, Edge used an edition of The Cutting Edge on RAW to join forces with Randy Orton to form Rated-RKO (although they did not use this name until several weeks later) and began a feud against DX. Edge cited Orton's lack of success after being kicked out of Evolution by Triple H and DX's "stale" antics "taking up TV time" as reasons to join forces. The duo succeeded early in defeating DX at Cyber Sunday due to the vote-in guest referee Eric Bischoff favoring Rated-RKO. The pair then won the World Tag Team Championship from Ric Flair and Roddy Piper on the November 13 RAW, making Edge hold a record of 11 World Tag Team Championship title reigns in his WWE career. The success halted at Survivor Series 2006 when Team Rated-RKO was defeated by Team DX in a clean sweep of 5-0.


2007

The feud with DX continued at New Year's Revolution 2007 where Edge and Orton were battered by DX to end the match in a no contest. However, Edge and Orton claimed victory on the grounds that Triple H legitimately tore his right quadriceps in the match. To Edge and Orton, this marked the end of DX. Shawn Michaels vowed to deal with Rated-RKO, and the next week on RAW he took out Randy Orton with a con-chair-to while Edge looked on from the entrance ramp. On the January 29 edition of RAW, Rated-RKO lost the World Tag Team Championship to Shawn Michaels and John Cena.

In early February, Edge beat Rob Van Dam to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match, but suffered a legitimate broken jaw in the process. He remained on TV but avoided physical confrontations until WrestleMania 23. Meanwhile, his tag partner Orton also qualified for the MITB match, which led to dissent between them. He failed to win at WrestleMania after Jeff Hardy removed them both from the match by performing a nearly 20 foot leg drop off a ladder onto Edge. He then entered a feud, along with former partner Randy Orton, with John Cena and Shawn Michaels. All four men were aiming for the WWE Championship, and at Backlash they competed in a Fatal Four Way match in which Cena successfully defended his title.

On the May 7 edition of RAW, Edge defeated Mr. Kennedy to win his Money in the Bank title opportunity (Kennedy had suffered a legit injury prior to the match), making Edge a two-time Money in the Bank holder. One day later, on the May 8 taping of SmackDown! (aired on May 11), Edge cashed in his newly won contract. After a brutal Steel cage match between The Undertaker and Batista and a savage assault to the Undertaker by Mark Henry, Edge took advantage and defeated Undertaker with a Spear to win his first World Heavyweight Championship. As a result of this victory, Edge became a part of the SmackDown! brand.

Edge then began a feud with Batista and successfully defended his championship title against Batista at Judgment Day, in a Steel Cage Match at One Night Stand, and a third and final time at a last chance match at Vengeance. Edge then started a feud with Kane after Theodore Long announced Kane as the new number one contender for Edge's title. Edge was forced to relinquish his title due to a legit torn left pectoral muscle injury on the July 17 SmackDown! taping following an attack by Kane. Edge stated he would be out of action for about four months.

The Undertaker

Mark William Calaway (born March 24, 1965) is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name The Undertaker. He is signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), wrestling on its SmackDown! brand.

World Wrestling Federation/ Entertainment (1990–present)

2000–2001

Undertaker was due to return to action for WrestleMania 2000, but a legitimate bicep injury in February 2000 delayed his return until May 2000. When he returned in May at Judgment Day 2000, Undertaker's gimmick was dramatically modified in line with wrestling's change to a more realistic approach. His gimmick became that of an intimidating biker. Along with the gimmick change, Undertaker also began using the Last Ride (Elevated Powerbomb) as his finishing move, as opposed to the Tombstone Piledriver, which had become synonymous with the Undertaker over the years. He was referred to as the American Bad Ass. After he "inadvertently" cost The Rock the WWF Championship in a storyline with Triple H, he took out all the members of the McMahon-Helmsley Faction, quickly turning face again. Undertaker then began targeting the leader, WWF Champion Triple H. At King of the Ring 2000, Undertaker teamed with the Rock and Kane to go over the team of Triple H, Shane McMahon, and Vince McMahon. Afterwards, he was booked to team with Kane to contend for the WWF Tag Team Championship. They defeated Edge and Christian, earning the right to face them the following week for the tag titles but Edge and Christian retained. Kane turned on The Undertaker by chokeslamming him twice on the August 14 Monday Night RAW. This led to another match between the two at SummerSlam 2000, which ended in a no-contest as Kane ran from the ring area after The Undertaker removed Kane's mask.

Undertaker was then booked to challenge Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship at Survivor Series 2000. Angle went over Undertaker following interference from Kurt's real life brother Eric Angle. Undertaker demanded and was awarded a spot in the Six-Man Hell in a Cell Match for the WWF Championship at Armageddon 2000. Undertaker was not booked to win, but highlighted the match in a spot that saw him throw Rikishi off the roof of the cell.

In 2001, Undertaker reunited with Kane as the Brothers of Destruction in a storyline for the WWF Tag Team Championship once again. They received a shot at the Tag Titles at No Way Out 2001, facing Edge and Christian and then-champions the Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match. The Brothers of Destruction dominated almost the entire match but were not the winners.

Undertaker was booked to go over Triple H at WrestleMania X-Seven and improved his WrestleMania winning streak to 9-0. He and Kane continued a storyline that focused on Triple H, who formed a "surprise alliance" with WWF Champion Steve Austin. After Austin and Triple H injured Kane's arm in kayfabe, the Brothers of Destruction were granted an opportunity to face Triple H and Austin. After Undertaker and Kane acquired the WWF Tag Titles from Edge & Christian, Triple H pinned Kane after attacking him with a sledgehammer at Backlash 2001, and the Brothers of Destruction dropped the titles. With Kane injured, Undertaker feuded briefly Steve Austin for his WWF Championship, but at Judgment Day 2001, Austin went over Undertaker to retain the title.

As part of the 2001 Invasion angle, The Undertaker's next nemesis was Diamond Dallas Page, who was obsessively following The Undertaker's wife Sara. At SummerSlam 2001, WCW Tag Team Champions Undertaker and Kane went over Page and his partner Chris Kanyon in a steel cage match to win the WWF Tag Team Championship. They were the first team booked to hold both the WCW and WWF tag team titles simultaneously.

At Survivor Series 2001, Undertaker began a storyline to take on The Alliance's Steve Austin, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Shane McMahon, and Kurt Angle while teaming up with Kane, the Rock, Chris Jericho, and Big Show . Angle pinned the Undertaker due to interference by Austin. After the Alliance was defeated, The Undertaker turned heel once again by forcing commentator Jim Ross to kiss Vince McMahon's ass. This was the beginning of a new persona for the Undertaker, as he cut his long hair short and called himself Big Evil. At Vengeance 2001, the Undertaker went over Van Dam to capture the WWF Hardcore Championship.


2002–2003

Undertaker's next angle began at the 2002 Royal Rumble when Maven eliminated The Undertaker by dropkicking him from behind. Subsequently, The Undertaker eliminated Maven in return and brutally assaulted him backstage. On an episode of SmackDown!, The Rock mentioned The Undertaker's elimination at the Royal Rumble, angering The Undertaker. The Undertaker responded by costing The Rock the #1 contendership for the WWF Undisputed Championship. The storyline continued with The Rock costing The Undertaker his match with Maven for the Hardcore Championship. The two faced off at No Way Out 2002, but The Undertaker was booked to lose due to interference from Ric Flair. In a new storyline, Flair declined a challenge to wrestle Undertaker at WrestleMania X8, and, as a result, Undertaker assaulted his son David Flair. Ric Flair eventually accepted the match after the Undertaker threatened to inflict the same punishment on Flair's daughter. A no disqualification stipulation was added to the match, and The Undertaker went over Flair, improving his WrestleMania record to 10-0.

Undertaker subsequently went over Steve Austin at Backlash 2002 to win the #1 contendership for the WWF Undisputed Championship. Later that night, he entered an angle where he helped Hulk Hogan win his title match against Undisputed Champion Triple H. The Undertaker was put over Hogan for his fourth world championship at Judgment Day 2002.

Undertaker soon turned face after he went over Jeff Hardy in a Ladder match, raising Hardy's hand after the match as a sign of respect. However, Undertaker dropped the title at Vengeance 2002 to The Rock in a Triple Threat match that also involved Kurt Angle, although he was not even pinned. During a storyline where contracts were open during the end of the feud between McMahon and Flair, The Undertaker switched from RAW to SmackDown!, alongside former RAW talent Brock Lesnar, Chris Benoit, and Eddie Guerrero. After being put over Test at SummerSlam 2002, Undertaker was booked to challenge Brock Lesnar in a title match at Unforgiven 2002 that inevitably ended in a double-DQ. Their feud carried over to No Mercy 2002 in a Hell in a Cell Match. Undertaker worked the match with a legitimate broken hand and eventually lost to the champion. Undertaker then suffered a kayfabe injury after the Big Show threw him off the stage in Memphis, sparking a feud.

The Undertaker returned at the 2003 Royal Rumble drawing #30, but he was the last man eliminated by Brock Lesnar. He then continued his feud with Big Show and defeated him via submission at No Way Out 2003. A-Train entered the angle and attempted to attack Taker after the match, but Nathan Jones came to The Undertaker's aid. The storyline resumed as Undertaker began to train Jones to wrestle, and the two were scheduled to fight Big Show and A-Train in a tag team match at WrestleMania XIX. However, Jones was removed prior to the match, making it a handicap match, which Undertaker was booked to win with the help of Jones, improving his WrestleMania record to 11-0.

Undertaker went on to feud against the Full Blooded Italians, John Cena, A-Train, Brock Lesnar, and Big Show. He was booked with two WWE Championship opportunities over the course of the year. The first, on the September 4, 2003 SmackDown!, against Kurt Angle, ended in a no contest. The second, at No Mercy 2003, was a Biker Chain Match between Undertaker and Lesnar. Lesnar was put over with the help of Vince McMahon, , making it his second straight successful No Mercy WWE Title match against Undertaker. At Survivor Series 2003, Undertaker lost a Buried Alive Match in an angle against Vince McMahon when Kane interfered. After The Undertaker disappeared for some time following the match, Kane claimed that he was dead and buried forever.


2004–2005
In the weeks leading up to WrestleMania XX, Kane was haunted by vignettes in a storyline proclaiming an Undertaker return. The first was during the Royal Rumble when Undertaker's bells tolled, distracting Kane and allowing Booker T to eliminate him. At WrestleMania XX, the Undertaker finally returned, using the Deadman persona, again accompanied by Paul Bearer, and he defeated Kane. This persona could be best described as a hybrid of the classic Undertaker and the American Bad Ass. Three months later, Paul Bearer was kidnapped by the Dudley Boyz at the direction of Paul Heyman, who then took "control" of Undertaker in the storyline. The angle added a new twist at The Great American Bash 2004 where Undertaker was forced to fight a handicap match against the Dudleys; and if he lost, Paul Heyman would bury Paul Bearer in cement. The Undertaker won but buried Bearer anyway, explaining that Bearer was merely a liability now and that he had no use for Bearer anymore. Fans were later told that Bearer was "seriously injured," but in reality, he was simply removed from WWE programming due to health reasons. The Undertaker also remained a face.

After defeating the Dudley Boyz, Undertaker began a new feud and challenged WWE Champion John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) to a title match at SummerSlam 2004, which Undertaker lost when he disqualified himself. At No Mercy 2004, Undertaker and JBL were booked to compete in the first ever "Last Ride" match, although Undertaker lost after Heidenreich interfered. After a brief program with Heidenreich, Undertaker turned his focus to the WWE Championship once again. Along with Eddie Guerrero and Booker T, he challenged Bradshaw to a championship rematch at Armageddon 2004 in a Fatal Four Way, in which Undertaker was unsuccessful, again due to Heidenreich's interference. This led to a Casket Match between Undertaker and Heidenreich at the 2005 Royal Rumble, where Undertaker sealed Heidenreich in a casket for the victory to end the storyline.

Soon afterward, Randy Orton challenged The Undertaker to a match at WrestleMania 21,in an angle that saw Orton claiming that he would be the one to end The Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak. Even with help from his father "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Randy failed, and the Undertaker improved his WrestleMania record to 13-0. Following WrestleMania, Undertaker took a two month hiatus from wrestling after the birth of his second daughter in late May 2005.

He returned for the June 16 episode of SmackDown! but lost to JBL, thanks to interference from Randy Orton. General Manager Theodore Long booked Muhammad Hassan in a match against Undertaker at The Great American Bash 2005, where he was put over Hassan in Hassan's last match in WWE. As a result of the win, he became #1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship. However, JBL felt that he should be #1 contender. On the following SmackDown!, Undertaker lost a #1 contender match against JBL, once again due to interference from Randy Orton to resume the feud. With this, Undertaker resumed his feud with Orton.

At SummerSlam 2005, Undertaker and Randy Orton had a WrestleMania rematch, which Orton won. After weeks of their feud building up, Undertaker was booked to defeat Randy again on the second episode of Friday Night SmackDown!. The storyline intensified as the two taunted each other with caskets, leading to a casket match, in which Undertaker lost to Randy and his father "Cowboy" Bob Orton, at No Mercy 2005. After the match, the Ortons poured gasoline on the casket and set it afire, in a similar angle to Kane in 1998. However, when the charred casket was opened, Undertaker had once again vanished. He returned at the 2005 Survivor Series, emerging from a burning casket.

Despite a controversial attack involving Eddie Guerrero's lowrider on the November 29, 2005 SmackDown! special, Undertaker returned on SmackDown! to haunt Orton and set up a Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon 2005. After winning the Hell in a Cell match, Calaway took a short hiatus from wrestling, presumably due to controversy associated with the match, as Bob Orton was diagnosed with hepatitis but was allowed to bleed during the match without Calaway knowing of his condition.


2006–2007

At the 2006 Royal Rumble, Undertaker returned during Kurt Angle's celebration of his world title defense against Mark Henry. He entered on a horse drawn cart and made his intentions known by destroying the ring with lightning bolts. Undertaker was booked to lose his match with Kurt Angle at No Way Out 2006 after a thirty minute bout. Undertaker cornered Angle after the match, and after a stare down, told Angle that he had his number and that he was not finished with him yet.

The Undertaker had his No Way Out rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship against Angle on SmackDown! when Mark Henry attacked Undertaker from behind, costing him the title. Undertaker began an angle where he challenged Mark Henry to a Casket Match at WrestleMania 22, and Henry, like Orton a year before him, vowed to end Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak. Undertaker was put over Mark Henry to become 14-0 at WrestleMania, keeping his undefeated streak alive. During a rematch on the next edition of SmackDown!, The Great Khali made his debut and began an assault on the Undertaker, starting a new storyline.

The Undertaker was not heard from until the May 5 edition of SmackDown!, as Theodore Long delivered a challenge from Undertaker to Khali for a match at Judgment Day 2006. Undertaker was booked to convincingly put Khali over and did not appear again until the July 4 edition of SmackDown! to accept Khali's challenge to a Punjabi Prison match at The Great American Bash. Khali was removed from the match, due to elevated liver enzymes, and replaced by ECW Champion Big Show, over whom The Undertaker gained the victory. In the storyline, Teddy Long replaced Khali with Big Show as punishment for an attack on Undertaker shortly before the match. Khali was then challenged to a Last Man Standing match at SummerSlam 2006 after interfering in Undertaker's match with World Heavyweight Champion King Booker. In the angle, Khali refused the challenge for SummerSlam, though Teddy Long made the match official for the August 18 episode of SmackDown! instead. Undertaker was booked to win the match by striking Khali with the steel stairs, delivering several chair shots, and finishing him with a chokeslam. After his victory, Undertaker was not seen for several weeks.

The Undertaker returned in an angle with United States Champion Mr. Kennedy at No Mercy 2006 but was disqualified in a match after he hit Kennedy with the championship belt. On the November 3 edition of SmackDown!, Undertaker reunited with Kane to form the Brothers of Destruction for the first time in five years, defeating the reluctant opposition team of Mr. Kennedy and MVP, with whom Kane was feuding with at the time. Undertaker put over Mr. Kennedy in a First Blood match at Survivor Series after interference from MVP, but finally defeated Kennedy in a Last Ride match at Armageddon 2006 by delivering a chokeslam and Tombstone on the roof of the hearse, sticking him in the back, and driving the hearse out of the ring.


Undertaker retaining his undefeated 14-0 streak at WrestleMania 22.The two continued to feud into 2007 as Kennedy cost Undertaker two World Heavyweight Championship opportunities for a championship match at the 2007 Royal Rumble. Undertaker was booked to win his first Royal Rumble match in a spot where Shawn Michaels attempted Sweet Chin Music and Undertaker ducked and lifted Michaels over the top rope for the victory. He became the first man to enter the Rumble at number 30 and go on to win the match. He was then booked to begin an angle with Batista where he challenged and defeated Batista at WrestleMania 23 to win his first World Heavyweight Championship, ten years after he defeated Sycho Sid for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 13. By defeating Batista, Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania advanced to 15-0. On the next SmackDown!, Batista entered the ring and declared to The Undertaker that he wanted a rematch, which was a Last Man Standing match at Backlash 2007. The rematch ended in a draw when neither man was able to answer the ten-count after Batista speared Undertaker off the entrance stage, causing the steel pillars to fall on top of the two men. The draw resulted in Undertaker retaining the title.

On the May 11 SmackDown! taping in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Undertaker was booked in a steel cage match with Batista that resulted in a draw when both men's feet touched the floor at the same time. After the match, Mark Henry returned and assaulted the defenseless Undertaker. Immediately after the assault, Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank title shot and Undertaker dropped the World Heavyweight Championship to Edge. As Undertaker laid in the ring, druids appeared and carried him to the backstage area. In reality, Calaway had suffered an arm injury that required surgery, but the WWE did not want to break the Undertaker's character by having him forfeit the title.

During Calaway's rehabilitation, Mark Henry began squashing local jobbers and bragging about his assault on Undertaker until vignettes began playing promoting Undertaker's return. He did indeed return, at Unforgiven, successfully defeating Mark Henry with a Last Ride from the corner. Undertaker would also make his return to SmackDown! two weeks later, successfully defeating Mark Henry with a Chokeslam. Batista and Undertaker re-ignited their feud at Cyber Sunday where the fans chose Guest Referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, but Batista retained the world title via two Batista Bombs.

CM Punk

Phil Brooks (born October 26, 1978), better known by his ring name CM Punk, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on its Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) brand where he is the reigning ECW Champion.

Punk initially came to prominence through his career on the professional wrestling independent circuit, primarily as a member of the Ring of Honor (ROH) roster where he was an ROH Tag Team Champion, ROH World Champion, and the first head trainer of the ROH wrestling school. Along with Samoa Joe and Homicide, he was considered to be one of the three icons of ROH. Punk later accepted a contract from WWE and spent a year in their developmental promotion Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) during which time he won every championship in the promotion. When the ECW brand was revived in 2006 Punk was brought into the brand's roster where he had several successes including being undefeated in singles competition for the six months after his debut and ultimately winning the ECW Championship in September 2007.

Throughout his career, Punk has consistently used the gimmick of being straight edge, a lifestyle he follows in real life. Depending on alignment as a face or heel, different aspects of the culture are emphasized to encourage the desired audience reaction.

Early career
Punk's first venture into wrestling was a stint in a backyard wrestling federation called the Lunatic Wrestling Federation with his friends in the mid-late 1990s. He first started using the ring name CM Punk when he was put into a tag team named the Chick Magnets with CM Venom after another performer skipped out on the card. Unlike his friends, Punk genuinely wanted to be a wrestler and saw it as more than simple fun. After leaving the federation, he enrolled as a student at the "Steel Domain" wrestling school in Chicago, where he was trained by Ace Steel, Danny Dominion and Kevin Quinn to become a professional wrestler. As part of the training, he wrestled at St. Paul's Steel Domain Wrestling. It was in the Steel Domain that he met Scott Colton, who soon adopted the stage name Colt Cabana. Punk and Cabana became best friends and spent most of their early career together working in the same independent promotions, as opponents or allies. In the independents Punk, along with fellow Steel Domain graduates Colt Cabana, Chuckie Smoothe, Adam Pearce and manager Dave Prazak, formed a stable named the Gold Bond Mafia. The Gold Bond Mafia (CM Punk, Colt Cabana and Chris Hero) wrestled The Black T-Shirt Squad (Mike Quackenbush, Reckless Youth and Don Montoya) in the main event of CHIKARA's debut show. The BTS won after Reckless pinned Cabana following a Northern Light's Bomb 2k4.

Punk's home promotion for his early career is usually considered to be Independent Wrestling Association: Mid-South (IWA:Mid-South). During Punk's time in IWA:Mid-South he had high profile feuds with Colt Cabana and Chris Hero while also rising to the top of the roster winning the IWA Mid-South Light-Heavyweight Championship twice and the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship on five separate occasions. Notably his feud with Hero included a 55-minute TLC match, a 93-minute two out of three falls match and several 60-minute draws. Punk's matches with Cabana led him to being hired by Ring of Honor promotion. During his time in IWA:Mid-South he would also meet, wrestle against and become a friend of Eddie Guerrero. From February 2003 until May 2004 Punk refused to wrestle for IWA:Mid-South. Punk claims that this was in protest to Ian Rotten's treatment of Chris Hero; however Hero himself has stated he believes there were other reasons and Rotten's treatment of him was just an excuse by Punk to stop working for the company. Eventually Punk returned to IWA:Mid-South and continued to perform as a wrestler and commentator for them until 2005 when he was signed to World Wrestling Entertainment. His last appearance in IWA:Mid-South was on July 2, 2005 in which he competed in a sixty-minute time limit draw against Delirious.


Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
Punk joined Ring of Honor initially as a babyface, but was quickly turned heel in a feud with Raven that featured numerous variants of no disqualification matches. At the same time Punk joined the wrestling promotion NWA Total Nonstop Action (TNA), where he was paired with Julio Dinero as, ironically, members of Raven's TNA stable The Gathering.

Punk started climbing the ranks of ROH with notable achievements including coming second at the Second Anniversary show during the tournament to crown the first ROH Pure Champion, losing to A.J. Styles in the finals, and winning the ROH Tag Team Championship twice with Colt Cabana as the Second City Saints, both times defeating the Briscoe Brothers to win the championship. Circa October 2003 Punk was hired as the first head trainer of the Ring of Honor wrestling school, having previously been a trainer for the Steel Domain and Primetime Wrestling.


Meanwhile in TNA on February 25, 2004 Punk had a physical scuffle with Teddy Hart that was broken up by Sabu outside of a restaurant shortly before a TNA show stemming from an ROH show in which Hart performed three unplanned spots putting several other wrestlers in danger of injury. Around the same time as the scuffle Punk and Dinero stopped appearing on TNA shows leading to speculation he was fired for the incident. However, Punk has stated that the scuffle had no bearing on his TNA career and that the reason he and Dinero stopped appearing on TNA pay per views was that TNA officials believed that he and Dinero had not gotten over as heels, having recently turned heel with Dinero by attacking Raven forming a tag team managed by James Mitchell leading to the officials deciding to put the angle on hold indefinitely and thus had no use for Punk or Dinero. Punk officially quit TNA in March 2004 during the Rob Feinstein controversy after having a dispute with the TNA offices over his ability to compete in ROH following a TNA order that their contracted wrestlers were to no longer wrestle in ROH.

In ROH Punk faced off against ROH World Champion Samoa Joe for the championship in a famous three match series. The first match, on June 12, 2004 at World Title Classic in Dayton, Ohio, resulted in a 60 minute time-limit draw when neither Punk nor Joe could pin or cause the other to submit in the sixty minutes. The second match between Samoa Joe and CM Punk was planned to have occurred on December 4, 2004. However, because Steve Corino was pulled from a match with Samoa Joe by Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE the second match was hastily rescheduled on October 11, 2004 for October 16 in Punk's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. At Joe vs. Punk II on October 16 they wrestled to a second 60 minute draw. In addition to becoming Ring of Honor's best selling DVD at that point, the match received the first 5-star rating by Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter for a match in North America since 1997. Joe ended the series by defeating Punk in the third and final match on December 4, 2004 at All-Star Extravaganza 2 in which there was a no time limit stipulation.

In June 2005, Punk accepted a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, after a try-out match against Val Venis on its Sunday Night HEAT show. Even though he had accepted the deal, Punk went on to defeat Austin Aries to win the ROH World Championship on June 18, 2005 at Death Before Dishonor III with the Pepsi Plunge.

Immediately after the match Punk proceeded to turn heel and started an angle where he threatened to bring the ROH World Championship to WWE with him. For weeks, Punk teased the ROH locker room and the ROH fans as well as mocking the championship he possessed, going so far as to sign his WWE contract on it. A notable part of this angle was Mick Foley making several ROH appearances, attempting to convince Punk to do the right thing and defend the title on his way out.

On August 12, 2005 in Dayton, Ohio Punk lost the ROH World Championship to James Gibson in a four corner elimination match consisting of himself, Gibson, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels, who re-debuted after a year and half long absence. Gibson countered Punk's Pepsi Plunge with a Super Tiger Bomb. His final scheduled match in Ring of Honor took place at Punk: The Final Chapter on August 13, 2005 against long-time friend Colt Cabana in a 2 out of 3 falls match, which he lost. In his last match, he was visibly crying, and was showered with streamers when he posed in the middle of the ring.

Punk made a special appearance at the ROH show Unscripted II on February 11, 2006, when the original card had to be scrapped due to Low Ki leaving ROH the week prior along with most of the ROH roster contracted to TNA being pulled from the show due to a snowstorm that TNA officials thought might prevent performers from reaching a pay per view scheduled the next day. In the main event, Punk teamed with Bryan Danielson to wrestle and ultimately defeat Jimmy Rave and Adam Pearce in a tag team match.


World Wrestling Entertainment

Ohio Valley Wrestling
Punk was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, a WWE developmental territory. On September 26, 2005 in his OVW television debut, Punk suffered a ruptured eardrum and broken nose at the hands of Danny Inferno, after he was hit by an overly stiff right hand. Despite the injury, Punk finished the match and quickly recovered.

On November 9, 2005, Punk became the OVW Television Champion after defeating Ken Doane. This led immediately to a feud between Punk and Brent Albright, who had previously been feuding with Doane for the television championship and had lost his chance to wrestle Doane after Punk had hit him with a chair so he himself could wrestle Doane. This led to a series of matches, including one which ended in overtime with Albright having Punk submit to Albright's finisher, the Crowbar, however Punk was able to keep the championship as he had not agreed to the extra time. On January 4, 2006, Punk lost the OVW Television Championship during a three way dance between himself, Albright and Doane. Doane was injured halfway through the match and could not continue and was replaced by Aaron "The Idol" Stevens. Punk submitted to Albright's Crowbar and was eliminated but after interference by Punk, Stevens was able to get the pin on Albright to become the new OVW Television Champion. The feud continued after a short period in which Albright and Punk were a tag team, but they became opponents again after Albright wanted the respect of Punk who would never give it to him and instead proceeded to "punk out" (get the better of) Albright repeatedly. This continued for weeks with Punk always getting the better of Albright until a double turn occurred on February 1, 2006 when Albright turned heel during a tag match allowing The Spirit Squad to beat Punk and, in doing so, turning Punk face.

During this time CM Punk had a minor appearance at WrestleMania 22 on April 2, 2006 as one of the gangsters who rode a 1930s era car to the ring before John Cena's entrance.

When Matt Cappotelli vacated the OVW Heavyweight Championship due to a brain tumor, a tournament was held to crown a new champion. The finals were Brent Albright vs CM Punk with Albright defeating Punk to become the new champion. Punk and Albright continued their feud with Albright becoming more and more unstable and paranoid about maintaining his championship after several close call matches against Punk, resulting in acts such as threatening Maria. On May 3, 2006, Punk finally defeated Brent Albright in a strap match to win the OVW Heavyweight Championship. As champion, Punk retained the title in matches against opponents such as Shad Gaspard, Ken Kennedy, Johnny Jeter, and Mike "The Miz" Mizanin.

On July 28, 2006 Punk and Seth Skyfire defeated Shad Gaspard and the Neighborhoodie to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship at a house show. With the victory Punk became the second OVW wrestler to have held each of the promotion's three championships, following Brent Albright, and along with Skyfire the first to hold two championships simultaneously. They would lose the Tag Team Championship on August 2, 2006 to Deuce Shade and "Domino" Cliff Compton after an injured Skyfire tagged in an already injured Punk.

This led to a feud between Punk and Skyfire after a rematch for the Tag Team Championship on August 7, 2006 in which a healthy Punk purposefully tagged in an injured Skyfire to be beaten by Shade and Compton. On August 30, 2006 a match was scheduled to take place between Punk and Skyfire for the OVW Heavyweight Championship. However, prior to the match Skyfire was attacked by Charles "The Hammer" Evans, who Skyfire had also been feuding with, and was replaced in the match by Chet Jablonski (Chet the Jet) who pinned Punk to win the OVW Heavyweight Championship. As Punk no longer possessed the championship OVW no longer required him. He was removed from the roster and brought up to the WWE roster full time. He continues to make sporadic appearances for the company such as at the 400th episode of OVW on television.


ECW
On June 24, 2006 Punk made his ECW debut during a house show at the former ECW Arena, defeating Stevie Richards. He made his TV debut on the July 4 episode of ECW on Sci Fi, cutting a brief pre-taped face promo about his straight edge lifestyle emphasizing the disciplinary aspects of being drug and alcohol free. Although he had retained the straight edge gimmick, he now had a Muay Thai training background. Punk made his TV wrestling debut on August 1, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, defeating Justin Credible. CM Punk established himself in ECW by going undefeated, defeating opponents such as Christopher W. Anderson, Stevie Richards, and Shannon Moore.

Soon after, Punk began feuding with Mike Knox after Knox's girlfriend, Kelly Kelly, was seen to have feelings for Punk. Punk defeated Mike Knox in their first singles match (qualifying for the Extreme Elimination Chamber at December to Dismember in the process) as well as the rematch, after which Kelly Kelly celebrated CM Punk's victory over her boyfriend. Punk then went on to team with D-Generation X and The Hardy Boyz in their Survivor Series match against Rated-RKO, Knox, Johnny Nitro and Gregory Helms, a match where all the participants on DX's side survived elimination. At ECW December to Dismember, Punk participated in the Extreme Elimination Chamber for the ECW World Championship, however was the first person eliminated.


Following this, Punk entered into a feud with Hardcore Holly, who ended Punk's six month unbeaten streak in singles competition on January 9, 2007. Punk went on to feud with Matt Striker, who gave him his second singles loss since being in ECW on January 30. Following this Punk qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23 by defeating Johnny Nitro, being the only member of the ECW roster to qualify. In the final week leading up to WrestleMania 23 Punk made appearances on both RAW and SmackDown! defeating Kenny Dykstra and former World Heavyweight Champion King Booker respectively. At WrestleMania 23 Punk competed in, but did not win, the Money in the Bank ladder match being knocked off the ladder just seconds before the winner, Mr. Kennedy, claimed the briefcase.

On the April 10 edition of ECW on Sci-Fi, Punk officially joined the New Breed stable, after several weeks in which both the New Breed and the ECW Originals had attempted to recruit him. However two weeks later Punk betrayed the New Breed during a four on four elimination match between the New Breed and ECW Originals by kicking New Breed leader Elijah Burke in the back of the head costing them the match. After the match Punk proceeded to deliver his finisher, the Go To Sleep, on Burke before leaving the ring alone. WWE.com later confirmed that Punk was no longer a member of the New Breed. At Judgment Day 2007, Punk wrestled and defeated Elijah Burke in his first singles match on a pay-per-view. Punk would then go on to One Night Stand 2007 and team up with Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman in a Tables match to defeat the New Breed.

Due to the drafting of ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley to RAW the ECW World Championship was declared vacant and a mini-tournament was announced to declare a new champion between Punk, Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von and the recently drafted Chris Benoit. Punk defeated Marcus Cor Von on the June 19 edition of ECW on Sci-Fi. By doing so CM Punk was meant to face Chris Benoit at Vengeance 2007 for the vacant ECW World Championship, however Benoit was hastily replaced by Johnny Nitro when Benoit no-showed the event due to what was described on-air as "personal reasons". Nitro subsequently defeated Punk at Vengeance for the vacant championship. Punk won another shot at the title at The Great American Bash against Johnny Nitro, who had changed his moniker to John Morrison at this point, however Punk was defeated again by Morrison. Punk the next week would challenge Elijah Burke and Tommy Dreamer in a triple threat match to determine the next competitor in John Morrison's 15 Minutes of Fame Challenge, in which Punk came out victorious. A week later Punk would defeat Morrison with the G.T.S. to earn an ECW Championship title match at SummerSlam. At Saturday Night's Main Event CM Punk would team up with Boogeyman to take on and defeat Morrison and Big Daddy V. CM Punk lost to Morrison for the ECW Championship when Morrison used the ropes for leverage at SummerSlam.

At the September 1, 2007 ECW taping in Cincinnati, Ohio, in a "last chance" title match, Punk defeated John Morrison for the ECW Championship. The match aired on the Sci-Fi Network on September 4.

Montel Vontavius Porter

Alvin Burke, Jr. (also known as Hassan Hamin Assad and Antonio Banks, born October 28, 1973), is an American professional wrestler currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment on the SmackDown! brand under the ring name Montel Vontavious Porter, or MVP, where he is the reigning United States Champion as well as one-half of the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions with Matt Hardy.

Early life and career
Burke first entered professional wrestling after serving 9½ years of an 18½ year sentence in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping at the age of 16. After his training he made his pro wrestling debut in 2003 for many different companies on the independent circuit using the name Antonio Banks, including appearances with Full Impact Pro, NWA Florida, Ring of Honor and on early Total Nonstop Action Wrestling weekly pay-per-views.


World Wrestling Entertainment
In 2005, after a number of house shows and dark matches, Burke signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and was assigned to their developmental territory Deep South Wrestling. It was there that he first developed the Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) character: an arrogant, self-obsessed athlete partially inspired by the fictional NFL wide receiver Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) from the film Jerry Maguire and his real-life counterpart, Terrell Owens. As part of the character he utilized numerous references to "305", the area code of his hometown, Miami-Dade County, in the form of chants, hand gestures, and logos.


SmackDown!

As MVP, he made his first appearance on WWE television on the August 4, 2006 episode of SmackDown!, being described by announcers as a coveted free agent. The initial storyline involved MVP appearing backstage and in arena crowds, often flanked by women and/or a bodyguard, and talking to SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long about the contract his (unseen) agent was aggressively negotiating. Throughout all of this MVP was described by commentators as arrogant, as he would stop conversations in the middle to answer his mobile phone or admire his own jewelry while people were speaking to him. Finally, on September 26, video of a press conference announcing the signing of Porter to "the largest contract in SmackDown! history" was uploaded to WWE.com. view

MVP's in-ring debut for the brand was set for October's No Mercy pay-per-view, and for it he received a heralded entrance with an NFL-like inflatable tunnel and pyrotechnics before defeating the unknown wrestler Marty Garner. During the match, commentators Michael Cole and JBL decried the choice of opponent, since it had been implied that it would be someone "more competent", and joined in with fans mocking his athletic suit styled ring gear, calling him "pathetic" while the fans chanted Power Ranger. On the following week's SmackDown! MVP demanded a tougher opponent to prove his mettle, and received just that in the form of Kane, who was making his SmackDown! debut. Despite being largely on the receiving end of their bouts, MVP started out the feud by narrowly scoring wins over Kane in a street fight and a cage match before losing to him in an Inferno match at Armageddon, from which he (kayfabe) suffered 1st degree burns. Because of the burns he was "out of action" for a short time, during which color commentator JBL expressed rage with the fans for cheering a match where the only way of achieving victory is to set an opponent on fire.

When the Kane feud died down, MVP began a new one with United States Champion Chris Benoit over Benoit's title. Porter credits his working with Benoit for improving his in-ring skill. During the build up for the match with Benoit, MVP appeared on SmackDown! introducing various supposed Champions from around the world, giving them exaggerated measurements, then proceeded to defeat them in short order. When he finally faced Benoit at WrestleMania 23 he seemed to have his number, but lost the match in the end. A subsequent rematch at Backlash went much the same way, with MVP suddenly losing to an Inside Cradle after looking like he was about to win for much of the match. For Judgment Day, MVP secured a two out of three falls match against Benoit, and defeated him with two straight pins to take the title, his first in WWE.

His first major feud over the Championship was against Matt Hardy, whom he started claiming to be better than at everything after defeating him at the Great American Bash. When MVP was (legitimately) diagnosed with the heart condition Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, it was written into the storyline with MVP blaming the condition for his losing an arm wrestling match against Hardy. When Porter was given an interview segment during SmackDown!, the VIP Lounge, he used it to bow out of a scheduled boxing match at Saturday Night's Main Event — only to have Evander Holyfield replace him, who ended up punching out Porter during the bout. On the August 24 episode of SmackDown!, MVP bragged to General Manager Teddy Long that he could win the WWE Tag Team Championship with anybody, prompting Long to grant him a Championship match alongside the next person who entered the room; Matt Hardy. The next week, MVP and Hardy defeated the champions, Deuce N' Domino to win the titles, making MVP a double champion.
