Bret Hart retired 8 years ago. The man had a stroke. He gave more than enough to WWE. He, just like the Rock, does not owe WWE an appearance.

The way I see it, Bret won't stop "whining" until people stop making this goddamn thread every f***ing day.

So it's cool to whine that Bret won't be on Raw every damn week...
But it's not okay for someone to bitch about something that ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO THEM?! You might be over it, but you weren't the one who worked for a company for over ten years, was TOLD to sign with the competition, and lied to about a finish, were you?
People get hurt & hold grudges. Some for the rest of their lives. Bret Hart doesn't have to answer to anyone but Bret Hart.

He'll never enjoy his life until he goes and has a cup of tea with HBK. Seriously I cant see this guy being happy until something along those lines happens This is what I don't get, and I'm not directing this at you personally but this seems to be an opinion a lot of people have. How do any of us know if he's happy or not? Is anyone here a close personal friend of Bret Hart? I find it really hard to believe that the man wakes up in the morning and goes to bed at night grinding his teeth about Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels. Seriously, for everyone criticizing Bret Hart, none of you have a person who has burned their bridge with you? If not, then you're really lucky. Otherwise the only difference is you're not being asked about it by reporters ten years later.

Ted Dibiase said it the best on Shawn's dvd.... The grudge and bitterness Bret has isnt hurting anyone else but Bret. Shawn even went public on OTR and asked Bret to forgive him. What more can the guy do? Maybe Bret just dont want to talk to Shawn. He has no bitterness and grudges, he wants to be away from the business thats given him so much yet took away even more.

He's done with the business and doesn't want to taint his career anymore than it already has been. Let it be I say.

Bret Hart at RAW 15th Anniversary isnt needed. He was only there for the first few years of RAW and the show didnt pick up steam until he left. Actually, the entire company became 100% more entertaining and 110% more profitable when he left for WCW, so I would say he was the one guy who improved the WWF by leaving. Not to mention, WCW was rolling when he got there and suddenly became a stale, boring product upon his arrival. Funny how things work. Maybe if they did a 20th Anniversary show for Superstars of Wrestling or Wrestling Challenge, bring Bret Hart in.

Ah yes, I was wondering where the daily "OMG BRET IS THE CRIBABIEZ!!11" thread was at.
It's his choice, just like with the Rock and others, if they do not want to come, it's up to them. They don't owe anyone anything.
I think a lot of people are letting their fandom get in the way of logic, these guys have more important things to worry about than wrestling.

Ok, this is getting REALLY annoying...
Bret CAN'T WORK an angle, he can't take the slightest bump
Bret wants to be remembered as a great wrestler, not as a broken down old manager/GM
Bret speaks of Montreal when asked by fans, reporters, columnists. He's not arranging press conferences around North America to bitch and whine.
WWE themlselves have been bringing the Screwjob up at every possible chance.
Anyway, you know what's cracking me up?
Some are lambasting Hart for not being able to let it die, but in the end they're the one so obsessed with the Screwjob they keep talking about it more than Bret himself has done at the peak of his bitterness.
Oh, and BTW, the ideal way to "let it die" is having Bret coming back on WWE TV to have an angle against Vince and Shawn???

sticking to your principles and not coming back to the man who screwed you over for a check = respectable still talking about the time you got screwed over 10 years after it happened = whiny sissy then again, it doesn't help that almost everytime he is interviewed by a wrestling website/reporter, that's pretty much the first thing he's asked about. Yeah, that's what I keep seeing. It's not like he takes a streetcorner every Thursday to kvetch about Shawn Michaels. Even if he wanted to quit talking about it, every time he turns around, he gets a microphone in his face asking about it.

If Bret returned, they'd just job him out to the returning Bobby Lashley, who would then high-five the super-returning John Cena. It wouldn't be all that great.

Even if he was in any condition to do a return squash... which he isn't... I don't blame him at all for staying away. Sometimes, it's better that way.

I really can't blame Bret for not wanting to get into a WWE ring ever again. His brother died in one.

Anyone think there is the distinct possibility that he does not want to be associated with the product as it is right now? We are talking about a guy who thought wrestling was going down the crapper 10 years ago. I can only imagine how he feels about it now. As far as him whining, the man is trying to sell a book, so he makes appearances to promote said book. The first question he is asked seems to always be about the screwjob, he gives his true feelings on the subject. Thats just being honest. He's not going around telling anyone who will listen about how he got screwed and how sorry everyone should be for him, he's simply answering questions honestly.

I hope this doesn't degrade into another debate. Because "rubber stamp" threads like the DH Smith/Masters one a while back where we have 20+ pages of everybody saying the same thing are much more entertaining to read than a point/counterpoint thread.

Bret's biggest screwing (.......ahem...) wasn't at Montreal at all. Bret screwed himself in his REACTION to that. If he was smart and turned up on Nitro and said that Vince pleaded with him to drop the belt to Shawn and that the whole 'screw-job' thing was a work and how he and Vince are good friends and all that...he could have TOTALLY killed the whole heat from it. Sure personally he might have been bitter from it still but to the mark audience it wouldn't have been this huge deal which has totally overshadowed his life from that point on.
If Bret was smart he'd have sat down and thought "How can I make money and gain an advantage over this?" instead of repeating ad nauseum how unfair it was and how much of an ass HBK is. Bret's reaction following the incident perhaps aided the significance of it....significantly.
