Oh man, that was a terrible match between Kennedy and Janetty. First, I will get a mean comment out of the way, to clear my system - I swear, if you look carefully at the tape of the match, every time Kennedy punched Janetty, a very subtle 'cloud' of white dust, or powder, flew off him. Ok done being mean. This folks, is what happens to a high flyer when he can't fly anymore. I remember Marty as a can of energy, to see him like this mad me sad for real. Two things made it worse. 1: Janetty wearing 'rocker' clothing stuff. This made me cringe, not because he worse that stuff that was in style when Vanilla Ice was popular - but because it was the SAME ARTICLES OF CLOTHING. Sad. 2: Jim Ross repeating over and over that Janetty can beat anyone at anytime one on one. He said this crap a few times I remember. Come on Jim, the man is a wreck due to time and his mistreatement of his body. Don't insult us saying he can beat anyone on any day one on one. We don't buy it. And for The King he said stupid stuff as well, like "Imagine if Janetty beat Kennedy! ' and " Regal would give him a contract!! " This was pathetic. Vince would never give him a contract, since Vince knows the first paycheck Marty got would turn magically into china white. And since Vince cares deeply about the wellbeing of his talent, he could never do such a thing! Looking back, this post was pretty negative, but I don't think it's off base save some cheap drug knocks on Marty. I am sorry for that part of my post, but not for the rest. This one time high flyer has not only been grounded, but he has crash landed. This is the aspect about wrestling that I hate, when the wrestlers are washed up. Unless they were smart enough to learn something else, it's quite sad. 8(

I was surprised to see him mobile; last I heard he couldn't walk.

what has that man been doing the last 2 years? Last I remember he was tearing it up on Raw with HBK in a Rockers Reunion, and a couple months later had an unappreciated classic with Kurt Angle.

Was I watching the same match? I thought he looked damn good out there. Yeah he's not flying as high as he once did, but neither is Shawn. Hell, even Jeff Hardy doesn't do as much as he did in his younger days.
For what it was, I thought they put on one hell of a match.
The part I do feel bad about was that Shawn saving Marty was completely overshadowed by an unnecessary DX re-pop. We just saw them together a few weeks ago, for pete's sake. Let Shawn and Marty stand side by side in "moral victory" one more time, eh?

I don't think Kennedy is a solid wrestler that can just have a good match with anyone. And I'm sure Marty has some ring rust as well, but he still has value, why else would they keep bringing him back? Got to be more than an HBK association.

He is apparently 45 years of age. I'd be incredibly surprised to see him pull off high-flying maneuvers.

I didn't think it was that bad, not as good as his brief comeback matches a couple of years ago, but still pretty good. Kennedy is a little overrated as a wrestler anyway IMO.

I gotta agree with some of the fellow crappers about Kennedy not being that good of a worker. The match was average and nowhere near as good the match Marty had with Kurt.

I did mark for the nearfall on Kennedy towards the end of the bout, but it was a very forgettable encounter and the crowd was quite dead for it too.

What happened to Kennedy? He used to be great, now he's 'meh.'
The match with janetty sucked. Terrible ending.

Yes, but in fairness can we really say that was Marty's doing? Kurt's just pure liquid awesomeness. And I said it in the raw thread and I'll say it here: Marty really reminded me of David Cassidy. You kids might not get that reference, but by Gawd he does.

Are you kidding me? Marty was tearing it up out there! I loved that match, and wished it could have gone longer.

I agree. Jannetty looked much better a few years ago against Kurt, but last night was just sad. But I can't help but think how much of that was Kennedy's fault. As much as I like Ken's attitude and mic work, his in-ring work is absolutely awful. He's the most sloppy, dangerous worker I've seen since Ahmed Johnson. Every time he wrestles someone, I genuinely fear for his opponent's health. When Cena got hurt, it wasn't a bit surprised. Kennedy's had so many great opponents, but I honestly have never seen him in a good match.
But at this point, Marty is a lost cause. Bring him in every year to set up an HBK feud, and that's about it. If the WWE wants to hire a teenager, they should get someone from OVW. What's the point in hiring a 45 year old teenager that's been fired a dozen times before?
I'd say "Please Marty, grow up" but it's just pointless. He is what he is, and it's just sad to see so much talent wasted.

he's likely rusty as f***... given some time, i bet he could be awesome again. The only thing that time would get Marty Jannetty is fired again...or arrested.

The match was decent, nothing great. Considering that Janetty is semi-retired and probably 45 years old, I'd say he did well.

So a rusty 45 years old Marty Jannetty had a "bad" match against Kennedy, while an even rustier (and almost dead I may add) 42 years old Marty Jannetty had a much better match against Kurt Angle... I wonder why And anyway the match wasn't that bad actually. At least for two guys who never worked with eachother and for a guy who hasn't been wrestling consistently since when? 1996? If somebody's to blame for a "bad" match, look for the full-time worker, one of the future Top Guys (God help us)

So... you're saying every time Marty Jannetty got punched, small amounts of cocaine flew out of his nose?
... right.
