Wednesday, March 26, 2008:
Email: WWE’s ECW on Sci-Fi got a 3.65 rating.
Results for Driven, March 26, 2008:
1st segment—Studio 54 w/Larry Sweeney & Mickie James vs. Mike Quackenbush & Puma: Quackenbush’s hopes of teaming with Puma to even the odds proves futile, as Larry Sweeney and Mickie James interfere, hitting Quack with a double DDT to set up “Diamond” Joey Ryan’s Mustache Ride finisher. But Quack and Puma do manage to send the disco lovers packing after the bell. **1/4 Segment rating: 66%
2nd segment—Lisa Marie Varon appeared backstage with Rebecca Bayless, and corrected her on her name … it’s Lisa Marie Jacobs, as she and Jimmy Jacobs are soulmates. Jimmy comes out, and they proceed to run down Austin Aries and Lacey, whom they will be facing in separate matches at Arena Warfare. Jimmy promises to crush Lacey’s spirit, and Lisa Marie vows she’ll crush Lacey’s body. Segment rating: 78% Notes: Lisa Marie gained overness.
3rd segment—El Generico vs. Sal Rinauro vs. Rainman vs. Josh Prohibition, four-corner elimination match: Rinauro is the first to fall, the victim of a Generico back heel kick off the second rope. Prohibition takes care of Rainman with a top rope DDT. Generico gets the win with his BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAHHH!!! *3/4 Segment rating: 63%
4th segment—BLKOUT vs. Brent Albright & Dan Maff: BLKOUT looks to gain momentum against the oddly matched pair of Albright and Maff. The pairing proves disastrous, as miscommunication causes Albright to deck Maff, setting up a top rope double stomp by Sabian for the pin. But any celebration is short-lived, as Team Ego attacks from behind; Sabian gets planted with a spike powerbomb, and Ruckus gets thrown through the announcer’s table. ** 3/4 Segment rating: 70%
5th segment—Chris Hero is walking the back halls when he comes across ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch. Hero tells her to watch his tables match against Claudio Castagnoli tonight, as it’ll show he’s more then prepared to take on her “precious” Masato Tanaka. Sytch tells him the proof will be on Sunday. Segment rating: 67% Notes: Hero lost overness.
6th segment—Austin Aries vs. Adam Pearce: Though the match is a back-and-forth affair, when Aries gets his second wind, Pearce panics and pulls the ref in front of him when Aries charges him in the corner. The ref calls for the DQ before collapsing in pain. Claudio takes the opportunity to try and get one up on his nemesis, but Pearce sees him coming, stops him in his tracks and nails a jumping piledriver on the Swiss banker. **1/4 Segment rating: 75%
7th segment—Jimmy Jacobs w/Lisa Marie Varon Jacobs & Lacey vs. Eddie Kingston, Pure Title match: With a reluctant Lacey and his new … significant other in tow, Jacobs faces off against former Pure Champion Eddie Kingston. As Jacobs nails the Contra Code, Austin Aries comes out and attacks Jacobs, drawing the DQ. But the attack only angers Jacobs, who manages to fight off both men. **1/2 Segment rating: 73%
8th segment—Matt Sydal & Jack Evans vs. Motor City Machine Guns: The involvement of the Briscoes costs Sydal and Evans the match, as Jay tries to swing a chair at Alex Shelley’s head, but gets Sydal instead. Referees and stagehands are needed to get things back under control as all three teams start brawling. ****3/4 Segment rating: 90%
9th segment—Roderick Strong is in the ring, talking about how Sonny Siaki must be looking to continue his losing streak by coming after him. From behind, Siaki attacks with a chair, then Pillmanizes Strong with it. Segment rating: 63%
10th segment—Chris Hero vs. Claudio Castagnoli, non-title tables match: The ROH World Champion proves his proclamation true, handling the hardcore tables match environment without showing any nerves. He dispatches with Claudio by putting him through a table with a tiger driver. Following the match, Hero invites out his Exception To The Rule lackey Adam Pearce, who tees off on Claudio’s head with a steel chair. ***1/2 Segment rating: 81%
11th segment— Bryan Danielson & Steve Corino vs. Nigel McGuinness & Colt Cabana: A back and forth spectacle of a main event ends when Corino goes low with a field goal kick to McGuinness’ nether regions. Somehow, McGuinness is able to pick himself up and brawl alongside Cabana with Danielson and Corino, the fight going through the crowd and disappearing into the back. Segment rating: 89%
Overall show rating: 75%

Afterwards, Claudio, having snapped continues his assault on Pearce until Pearce is unconscious. ***1/2 Segment rating: 69% Notes: Kingston gained overness.
2nd segment—Mike Quackenbush comes to the ring and says he wants to get a good look at his opponent, “Diamond” Joey Ryan, before the PPV, and introduces … a midget dressed just like Ryan. Segment rating: 55% Notes: Quackenbush gained overness.
3rd segment—ROH Commissioner Tammy Lynn Sytch announces that The Briscoes and the Motor City Machine Guns, in addition to facing tonight, will meet at Arena Warfare … only, at the PPV, it will be inside a steel cage. Segment rating: 71%
4th segment—Kevin Steen vs. Hallowicked vs. Matt Sydal vs. Arik Cannon, elimination match: In the first of two preview matches for a big four-team match at the PPV, Steen eliminates Cannon with a belly to belly suplex off the top rope. Sydal eliminates Hallowicked with a back heel kick to the back of the head. Steen pulls off the upset, pinning Sydal on a roll-up with a handful of tights. **1/4 Segment rating: 60%
5th segment—The BLKOUT are in the ring, talking about their big chance against Murderdeathkill at Arena Warfare for the ROH Tag Titles. 7th segment—Lacey is in the ring, talking about how she isn’t afraid of Lisa Marie Jacobs. Lisa Marie comes out of the crowd, slides in behind Lacey and ambushes her, then strips her down to her underwear as a final humiliation. Segment rating: 73% Notes: Lacey gained overness.
8th segment—The Briscoes vs. Motor City Machine Guns: Despite all their bragging, the MCMG’s fall to the experience and the strength of the Delaware brothers, with Sabin eating a Spike Jay Driller for the three count. ****3/4 Segment rating: 83%
9th segment—Immediately thereafter, as the Briscoes say they’ll beat the Motor City Machine Guns again tomorrow, the MCMGs attack. Mark Briscoe is beaten up and tossed outside, and they concentrate on Jay. A table is set up, and Jay gets put through it with a spike powerbomb. Then, he gets put in a tree of woe and beaten on with steel chairs until Mark revives and runs off their enemies … too late for Jay, though, who is carted off on a stretcher. Segment rating: 76%
10th segment—Chris Hero is backstage and says he’s heard a rumor that Tanaka isn’t coming to the States after all, and that even if Sytch can get a last-minute replacement, it doesn’t matter. He’s held the belt since July of ’07 for a reason, he says; because he’s the best, in ROH or any other company. Segment rating: 87%
11th segment—Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness vs. Colt Cabana vs. Steve Corino, four-corner survival match: Despite the technical proficiency of Danielson and McGuinness, and the size advantage of Cabana, Corino manages to outwit everyone and scores the pinfall on Cabana with an Old School Expulsion, giving him the most momentum going into Arena Warfare. ***3/4 Segment rating: 79%
Overall show rating: 71%

4th segment—Mike Quackenbush vs. “Diamond” Joey Ryan w/Larry Sweeney, “Hot Tub” Jimmy Rave and Mickie James: Once again, the numbers of Diamond’s entourage play a factor … but this time, Quackenbush doesn’t fall for it. When Sweeney pops up on the apron, Quack pretends to fall for it, then dodges, allowing Ryan to collide with his super-agent. A Quackendriver later and Ryan is down for the three count. **3/4 Segment rating: 70% Notes: Quackenbush gained overness.

6th segment—The Briscoes vs. Motor City Machine Guns, steel cage match: Once again, the bond of brothers is too much for Shelley and Sabin to overcome, and Shelley falls to a Jay Driller. As Aries leaves, Jacobs, furious, attacks the referee. ****1/4 Segment rating: 90% Notes: Aries and Jacobs gained overness from the feud ending.
8th segment—Nigel McGuinness vs. Steve Corino, Iron Man match, #1 contendership, winner referee’s main event: Corino wins the first fall on a spear. Nigel ties it up on a Doctor bomb. 9th segment—Chris Hero (c) vs. Masato Tanaka, ROH World Title match (winner of Corino/McGuinness special referee): In their one and only meeting, Hero has to withstand the brutality of Tanaka and his hardcore legacy … and gets no special assistance from his Exception To The Rule teammate, and referee, Steve Corino. I was home alone for several hours, and I wanted to get through Arena Warfare.
Of course, I don't know what I'm doing NOW. I hadn't planned on Matt Cross coming back so soon, so that complicates the tag picture. I need to find a way to shoehorn Whitmer into the big picture (yes, I have the feud w/Corino planned, but I don't know HOW yet). April may be a bit of a transition month, as I rearrange a few things so my long-range plans still work out.
Jed Shaffer ~I have the World Title's course plotted out through September, if you can believe it. Provided certain people don't get hurt or become drug addicts.

Well, Jimmy Rave just went to rehab, which kills what i wanted to do as i just brought in Nana to be the New Dynasty's mouthpiece, and wanted Rave there when he debuts. But yea, im in a transitional month as well, it felt so good for 8 months game wise knowing what i had planned for the world title, but now hero has it again, and im stuck thinking what to do oh, and i went with the super cheesy name of "The Arrogance of Heroes and Kings" .. ya know Arrogance for.. Arrogance. Heroes for.. Hero... and Kings for.. Kingston Arent I Brilliant? :/ Now, enough of me hijacking your thread with my stuff. Are you planning on using Tanaka again? And good god a lot of people returned for you this month.

Eh, you do what you can. And my stable name of Exception To The Rule is much better? Although I will admit, I am rather fond of Studio 54. It's just dorky enough, with a dorky enough gimmick, to be completely believable as an ROH stable. Probably not. He was brought in cause I needed someone for Hero to deal with while all the other top faces were tied up. Everyone he's be paired up well against is busy. I knew Kaos and Jigsaw were coming off injury, and that Whitmer was coming off suspension. Jigsaw, I kinda have an idea for ... Whitmer, obviously, I have booked in a high-profile feud ... Kaos ... I'm debating releasing. He's talented and charismatic ... but I don't know if I have a place for him. Now, Matt Cross ... that threw me for a loop. I expected a much longer rehab stint. He sure as hell ain't getting the tag title run I had planned before he went all coke-monkey on me, that's for sure. Jed Shaffer ~I think I need to trim down the tag teams. I have about 12, compromising almost the entire midcard.

I have quite a few tag teams also. Aries and Strong are back teaming together to take on the Prophecy, Team Ego and the Briscoes are my main face and heel teams, The Stampede Bulldogs are both mega over, and are threatening to overtake Ego, MCMG are inactive atm, Shelley injury. Havana Pitbulls i started to push when i picked up Armando Alejandro Estrada and put him with them, The Prophecy (Thorn and Havok) are part of my main stable, so they demand attention, Arrogance and The New Dynasty (Kruel/Pearce) have an ongoing storyline that i dont want to abandon, and then I have S&S Inc. With Chuck Taylor and Maxime Boyer entertaining the masses with Sweeney, but they sadly dont see too much tv time

I may have to suspend/break up a few of 'em, just so I can have some more midcarders and not have so much clutter in the tag scene. Problem is, right now, there's two levels of tag teams: main event/super over (Murderdeathkill, MCMGs, Briscoes, Sydal/Evans, Burning River Brigade) and bottom of the barrel (Ego, Incoherance, BLKOUT, Blackout, Black/Cannon, Studio 54). That's 22 people right there, out of a 50 person roster, in tag teams. That's nuts. I need more midcarders.
Jed Shaffer ~Almost wish Cross hadn't come back. That's one more tag team I don't need.

Wednesday, April 2, 2008:
Email: WWE’s ECW on Sci-Fi got a 3.65 rating.
Results for Driven, April 2, 2008:
1st segment—Chris Hero stands in the middle of the ring, announcing today is a day of celebration and appreciation for Chris Hero. But as he stands on his platform, waiting for confetti to drop, Nigel McGuinness comes out of the crowd, clobbers him from behind and nails the Tower Of London. Segment rating: 85%
2nd segment—“Diamond” Joey Ryan & “Hot Tub” Jimmy Rave w/Larry Sweeney & Mickie James, and Rainman vs. Mike Quackenbush and The Burning River Brigade: Despite having the re-united Burning River Brigade, Quackenbush is still down in numbers against Studio 54 and Rainman, thanks to the costly interference of Larry Sweeney, who distracts Quack and allows Ryan to hit the Mustache Ride. **1/4 Segment rating: 68%
3rd segment—Paul Burchill vs. Brent Albright: Paul Burchill, fresh out of WWE, makes his Ring Of Honor debut against ROH’s assassin-for-hire, Brent Albright, and makes it a good one, putting away Albright in a hard-fought bout with the C-4. But Albright shows no sportsmanship and clocks Burchill instead of shaking his hand. **1/4 Segment rating: 67%
4th segment—Steve Corino is in the ring, talking about how he now has the opportunity to realize his dream and win a World Title in a promotion that isn’t dying or irrelevant. But before he can answer the question about what kind of tension this puts on his relationship with Chris Hero, BJ Whitmer comes out of the crowd. Whitmer wins the brawl, leaving Corino lying after a wrist-clutch exploder on the floor. Segment rating: 95%
5th segment—The Briscoes & BLKOUT vs. Motor City Machine Guns & Team Ego, 8-man elimination match: Jay Briscoe nails a Jay Driller on El Generico to put his team up 4-3. Sabin evens it up by pinning Sabian after a tornado DDT. Steen pins Mark Briscoe after a vicious lariat to give his team a 3-2 advantage. Ruckus evens it back up, pinning Sabin after a top rope cross-body. Jay polishes off Steen with an old-fashioned piledriver, putting up his side 2-1. A flying reverse elbow by Shelley drops Ruckus to bring it down to one-on-one, and the Shellshock puts away Jay Briscoe, making Alex Shelley the sole survivor. **1/2 Segment rating: 76%
6th segment—Backstage, BJ Whitmer talks about how he sat at home for a month, thinking about how Chris Hero tried to end his career by throwing him off the Hell In A Cell in February, but it only made him angry. Whitmer says he knows he has to fight for another shot at Hero, and the quickest way to do that is to defeat the #1 contender, Steve Corino. Segment rating: 85%
7th segment—Austin Aries is in the ring, talking about how relieved he is to be done with Jimmy Jacobs, and is looking towards the future, and the ROH World Title. Jimmy Jacobs sneaks behind Aries, nails the Contra Code, then bludgeons him with a steel chair until he’s busted wide open. Segment rating: 65% Notes: Aries and Jacobs lost overness.
8th segment—Exception To The Rule (Adam Pearce, Sonny Siaki & Kaos) vs. Claudio Castagnoli, Roderick Strong & Eddie Kingston: Even with the return of Kaos from injury, Sonny Siaki is unable to deliver for his team, tapping out to Roderick Strong’s Stronghold. **1/2 Segment rating: 74%
9th segment—Jimmy Jacobs (c) w/Lisa Marie Jacobs vs. Colt Cabana, ROH Pure Title match: It isn’t Jimmy’s love interest, Lisa Marie, who costs Cabana; it’s his rival, Bryan Danielson, who drops Cabana throat-first on the ropes. After Jimmy puts away Cabana, Danielson ties Cabana in the ropes, grabs a chair and hits a home run against the unprotected skull of Cabana, knocking him out. A host of referees swarm out to drag away Danielson. *** Segment rating: 84% Notes: Jimmy Jacobs gained overness. The Pure Title gained in image.
10th segment—Murderdeathkill (c) vs. Matt Sydal & Jack Evans, ROH Tag Title match: Sydal & Evans take it to MDK like no one, not even The Briscoes, have been able to do thus far. To protect their titles, The Messiah pulls the referee into the line of fire as Sydal charges him with a clothesline; the ref signals for the DQ against the champs. MDK, angered, attack Sydal & Evans, sending them to the outside, and exchange threats with their challengers afterwards. ***3/4 Segment rating: 84%
11th segment—Chris Hero (c) vs. Nigel McGuinness, non-title match: Following the events at the start of the show, Hero demands a match with McGuinness. But it backfires, as the feisty Brit dominates Hero. The Tower Of London polishes off the champ, to which, as Nigel celebrates, Hero complains to the ref about a “fast count”. ****1/2 Segment rating: 95%

Email: WWE’s Smackdown got a 6.08 rating (lowest rating ever). TNA’s TNA Friday got a 0.85 rating.
Results for Driven, April 2, 2008:
1st segment—Incoherence vs. Motor City Machine Guns: The MCMG’s dismantle Incoherence, with Chris Sabin scoring the pinfall after destroying Hallowicked with a Diamond Dust and the Cradle Shock. But there is no celebration, as The Briscoes destroy their rivals, nailing a spike Jay-Driller on Alex Shelley, then putting Sabin through the announcer’s table. **** Segment rating: 83%
2nd segment—Nigel McGuinness gets in the ring and says how he doesn’t care what happened at Arena Warfare, he wants a piece of Chris Hero. Hero comes out and says that after the past week and how Nigel has embarrassed him, he’s more then willing to grant Nigel a title shot at Supercard Of Honor. Segment rating: 69% Notes: McGuinness and Hero both lost overness.
3rd segment—Paul Burchill vs. Kaos: Burchill builds more momentum, while Kaos, fresh off of injury, stalls out, as Burchill overwhelms Kaos and finishes him off with the C-4. Afterwards, Brent Albright comes out, still sore about losing to Burchill in his debut, and flattens Burchill with a steel chair … then gives Kaos a wallop, too. **3/4 Segment rating: 73% Notes: Kaos lost overness, Burchill gained.
4th segment—Rainman is in the ring, saying he won’t wait for his partner, Onyx, to come back from injury to make an impact. Out comes Studio 54, led by Larry Sweeney, who offers Rainman a spot in their clique and says he can make Rainman a superstar if he signs on the dotted line. Rainman says he’ll have an answer for Sweeney next week. Segment rating: 59% Notes: Sweeney and Rainman gained overness.
5th segment—Studio 54 w/Larry Sweeney & Mickie James vs. The Burning River Brigade: “Hot Tub” Jimmy Rave & “Diamond” Joey Ryan aren’t dancing when Mike Quackenbush, Ryan’s rival, comes out and nails the Quackendriver on Ryan, allowing Josh Prohibition to get the pinfall. Sweeney and Mickie James try to save their fallen friends, but Quack will not be denied his revenge, and single-handedly takes out the entire stable. **3/4 Segment rating: 72%
6th segment—Jimmy Jacobs (c) vs. Eddie Kingston vs. Austin Aries, triple-threat Pure Title match: Jacobs targets Aries for much of the match, and gets help in humiliating his obsession from his partner, Lisa Marie, who nails his rival with a chair, leading to Jimmy’s three-count over Austin Aries. Kingston, the former Pure Champ, looks on. *** Segment rating: 78% Notes: The Pure Title gained in image.
7th segment—Matt Sydal vs. Justice Pain: Stemming from the events of their explosive tag match, Sydal challenges Justice Pain. Sydal’s high-flying rocks the brawler, and when he calls out his buddy The Messiah, it backfires and Sydal is able to score the pin. Sydal gets out of dodge before he can be double-teamed. *** Segment rating: 79% Notes: Sydal lost overness.
8th segment—Team Ego vs. BLKOUT, tables match: Kevin Steen bounces off the ropes, not seeing that his partner, El Generico, is on the top rope, crotching him on the post. Sabian takes the opportunity to set up Generico and nails a top rope elbow to put him through, winning the match. Steen pushes Generico to the mat and walks off, furious. **1/2 Segment rating: 68%
9th segment—Sonny Siaki vs. Roderick Strong: By request of Siaki, he squares off against Strong again, and, much to his chagrin, has to tap out to the Stronghold again. Siaki snaps and pummels Strong after the bell, hammering with fists before tossing him over the top to the floor. **3/4 Segment rating: 77%
10th segment—Bryan Danielson vs. Claudio Castagnoli: Adam Pearce continues his pathological pursuit of humiliating Claudio, using a chair to cost him the match against Danielson. But Colt Cabana comes to the rescue, helping drive away Danielson and Pearce. Segment rating: 79% ***1/2
11th segment—Chris Hero & Steve Corino vs. Nigel McGuinness & BJ Whitmer: Perhaps not taking notes from the Team Ego disaster, Corino crotches his partner on the top rope, too, leading to McGuinness nailing the Tower Of London on the World Champ and scoring the pinfall. Hero and Corino argue until Corino blows off Hero and walks away. ***1/2 Segment rating: 86%

Jed What was the date you started? July '07. I'd been toying with a diary idea for a while, but it didn't occur to me to do it here until I was six months in. No. Never really been drawn to it. Plus, I don't have enough time on my hands to dedicate to such a long project. Farking HUGE. They're both main event status, and one of them (Mark, I believe) is my #5 face. And I haven't even been TRYING to get them that over. Their wars with the MCMGs and MDK (also main eventers, all four of them) have just been that good. Jed Shaffer ~Now if only I could get Team Ego, BLKOUT, Incoherance and Studio 54 up there ...

You should try and steal Samoa Joe and Rhino from TNA.
I had a feud with them and the Briscoes. Every match was over 90%. One match was 100% match quality and 100% crowd reactuon but only 99% overall
