"because the score is too "song-based" That's gotta be the DUMBEST thing I've heard outside of the internet this week. Jesus Christ....wtf? Anyway, ONCE will win Best Original Song...as it probably should. God forbid if Disney wins for stacking a goddamn category. So if Once gets jobbed, we riot? If ENCHANTED wins, We Riot

I'm glad Juno got so many nominations. Except I bet it will only one, and thats for Ellen Page who was amazing. No else in that category is strong enough, and Cate Blanchett was better in I'm Not There. You said earlier that you had never heard of the Actress who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress, namely Julie Christie who is nominated for the Best Actress Oscar. So how can you say no one else is strong enough when you haven't seen her performance?

The thing about Page is, Julie Christie has a shot of an upset here. NEVER ever count out old people in acting categories. Wait. Julie Christie is the one with a shot at an upset? I thought it was Ellen Page who had a shot at upsetting her. I think it's between those two anyway, but I'm just surprised that suddenly who I had thought was the favorite is the underdog, even though I want Page to win anyway. Either one deserves it. Christie was great in Away From Her.

While some categories I completely agree with (Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay), I don't like how Atonement is heralded as this "awesome" movie. I saw it, it wasn't that great. Honestly, I thought Sweeney Todd or Into The Wild should've taken it's spot for Best Picture. And while Juno was good, I thought that Knocked Up was just a overall a better flick about pregnancy. And so if Knocked Up won't even get a screenplay nomination, I think Juno shouldn't have been put in the running.
And WTF is up with the Best Documentary category? We get it! There's a damn war! But Lake Of Fire, The King Of Kong and In The Shadow Of The Moon deserved nominations in that category, especially Lake Of Fire, which I honestly thought would've won.
My final complaint is Cate Blanchett. She wasn't good in Elizabeth: The Golden Age. The movie sucked. Why was she nominated? Sure, she was good in the Bob Dylan flick, but did not deserve a Best Actress nomination. I think that should've gone to either Angelina Jolie (she was actually pretty good in A Mighty Heart) or the chick from 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days (another great pregnancy flick).
While better than last year, the Oscars never EVER seem to get it right.
