Well, that was sooner than I thought. And poor Matt Murton, he really is the Red Headed Stepchild nobody wants.

Mind you these were the same people that saw Bobby Hill as the Second Baseman of the future, so I never read much into it.

To be fair, he wasn't injured. He's just recovering from surgury.

Some would say Murton never got a fair chance at starting, but it's probably a good thing he didn't. I was happy to see him go. Eric Patterson, not so much.

Bobby Abreu and servicable outfield defense in the same sentence? HA! Well as long as that outfield has no walls, he could be serviceable. The funny thing is: I read about Abreu in the paper at work 2 hours after I posted it and the White Sox deny they had any contact with Bobby. One Sox scout was quoted as saying, "Nothing was discussed [about Abreu]. It sounds like an agent is trying to draw interest in his client."

Tom Hicks probably just pissed himself with glee. Now he has a built in excuse for why he didn't spend money on a good pitcher. Hey I had one but he was hurt! I was gonna pay him, it was all there and ready to go!

Padres signed outfielder Cliff Floyd, who had been with the Rays, to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

Once again the Rangers show their ineptitude in signing people. I thought Nolan Ryan was gonna improve this team?
