OK, I'm REALLY not trying to stir excretory matter up here, BUT, as a HUGE fan of the comic (yes, comic; graphic novel? come on guys, its ok to call it a comic); I thought it was a crap movie.
VERY loyal, VERY well done (in terms of lighting, style etc), but it just doesn't work as a movie. The opening montage was fantastic, but besides that, I couldn't help but feel dissapointed.

Ah, almost forgot my one huge complaint about the movie...the music selection was TERRIBLE. It felt like they were throwing really cliched counter-culture music videos into the middle of a movie. The Dylan song over the opening montage worked, but the Simon and Garfunkel and Hendrix cues were just laughable.
I found this especially odd since Zach Synder used music so well in Dawn of the Dead.

I ended up deciding getting the Motion Comic, though I'm not really sure if should rent or buy it. I saw the previews on Xbox Live, and was interested, though I wonder if it'll be enough for a purchase or just a rental.

The only problem in my mind with it is the fact that they only used a single narrator for it tho which make the female characters sound a bit off, but for the most part it's still pretty good.

Yeah, i heard about that part, and saw it when I was watching the previews. Makes me think of the Monty Python or Kids in the Hall sketches where you have guys dressed for women's parts. Weird how the motion comic does that, yet the video game, who's cinematic have similar style to the motion comic, have a girl voice, albeit brief, the appearence Silk Spectre II, and different voices for different people.

I thought the Hendrix song was apt since one of the chapters of the graphic novel was named after a lyric in "All Along The Watchtower."

Ouch, sharp drop. Honestly, they really should have thought about it better though when it comes to it's budget. It's going to end up with a respectable total. Especially when you consider that is't based on a material most people don't know, there are no big name stars in it, it's 3-Hours long and it's R-Rated. So the real problem comes from from the inflated budget and the source material isn't known enough to justify it.

Ahem. Made by my insane boyfriend; there's actually a fair amount of me in this. That's all I need to watch regarding the Watchmen, I take it. No, the movie didn't interest me, and yes, I am one of the people that thinks it is a play off of the Incredibles (or the Incredibles is a play off this comic, or something) and I couldn't get into it... but that video above needs more props. Hilarious.

You thinking it's going to break even, Pool? With that sharp of a drop... ehhh... When it's final World Wide gross is in, maybe, but not domestically. $150m budget. That's pretty damn big.

Hilarious. Please tell me you're joking. Watchmen, a play off of the INCREDIBLES? I think you're confusing Watchmen with Fantastic Four. Though how one could possibly do that is beyond me, unless you've never read issue one of either of those two comics. Which could be the case.

The Incredibles -- A movie about super heroes that are denounced by society, and are forced until retirement for YEARS. They all get out of shape, when it becomes apparent that heroes are being killed off...
So the band gets back together to take down the new villain.
Sounds like the Watchmen to me. On a simpler level.

On a simpler level. BARELY. There's much more to Watchmen than that. And since Watchmen came out in the 80's, if ANYTHING, Brad Bird and Pixar would have borrowed those plot elements from Watchmen. Also worth noting that only Manhattan from Watchmen has powers. Rest are simply costumed vigilantes, NOT superheroes like in INCREDIBLES. Also, Keene Act outlaws superheroes in Watchmen; civil liability is to blame in INCREDIBLES. On surface, both seem similar, but underneath, they couldn't be more different. I'll stop with my nerdiness now, Meat. ;D

Yeah, Incredibles is nothing like Watchmen, Meat. That's based on me watching both movies, because I never read the Watchmen books.

When the Incredibles came out, a lot of people compared the storyline to Watchmen. It's only superficial similarity, but it seems likely Incredibles was at least partly inspired by the Watchmen.

And in a way they are all like Spider-Man because he was a damn menace before it was cool to be a menace!

"Spider-Man's journal: Tuesday, October 20th, 1987. Spied on Gwen Stacy from opposite rooftop again. Very hard to "wall crawl" with erection. Must remember to invest in either stronger jockstrap, or better costume material. Wall rash very uncomfortable."
