man AVP 2 was a scary ass game. hell playing as a marine you were scared playing through the first level even though the first level has no enemies. I loved that game, though the Aliens levels were the hardest of any FPS I've played, I think.

That's a great deal on the Company of Heroes pack.
Little story: I just spent the last 2 hours or so trying to get a gold medal in Survival Mode on L4D2 at the Concert stage in Dark Carnival. You have to last 10 minutes to get a gold. Our best time? 9:48:80. Eleven f***ing seconds short. My hands are hurting, my neck is sore, my ass aches, I'm dehydrated... and then there's the emotional/mental frustration of working hard and coming so close, only to fall barely short. Fun times with good friends, but man, falling short like that is gonna leave a bad taste in my mouth until we finally beat it.

I should also point out that the company of heroes pack has been having problems with a lot of people.
For some reason, I can't get tales of valor to work at all, only the original game and the first expansion.

Hard as hell, but great. I jut rebought it because I have it on the original 3.5 disks, it came on like 4 or 5 of them. And my lappy has no accommodating drive.

If anyone is interested in some indie games, check out this bundle. Six games for $20, including Machinarium, which is a very unique point-and-click puzzle/adventure game worth $10-15 on its own.

Steam now has a new UI beta if you're into that thing. Just checked it out. At first I wasn't comfortable with it. I mean, they've had the same UI for years now, so seeing something so significantly different caught me by surprise. But after messing around with it for a little bit, I've come to really like it. Sleek modern design. The store is easier to navigate now and looks much better. And I really like the new view in Library. You've got the game list on the left, and the details (achievements, friends who have the game, news, etc.) taking up most of the screen. Really nice stuff overall, and a big improvement over the old design. As for what I'm playing right now, got a handful of older games within the last week that I had been wanting to play but just never got around to buying: HL 2 Episodes 1 & 2, Oblivion, COD 4: MW (played it back when it came out but never owned it until now), and Batman: Arkham Asylum. The HL 2 episodes are short but sweet, and Oblivion is surprisingly demanding for a 4-year-old game. Still waiting on Batman and COD 4 to arrive. And I'm eventually gonna get around to giving ME 2 a try. Thwak, how did it run on your computer? About the same as the original or a little more demanding? Just wanna get an idea of how my card will fair with the sequel. Been thinking about upgrading to something a little beefier since the 9600 GSO only has 384mb of ram and suffers with newer titles at 1600x900 res.

Ubisoft's DRM for the PC port of Assassin's Creed 2 might be the stupidest I've ever seen. From Joystiq: And apparently they're also implementing this DRM into future Ubisoft games as well. I really love PC gaming, but the way some publishers try to handle piracy is just incompetent. People that own legit copies of the game will have to worry about their internet connection not crapping out randomly, while pirates will be able to play DRM-free copies of the game. I guess at least that's one less game I have to worry about getting On a brighter subject, I'm playing Batman: Arkham Asylum and my goodness, what an amazing game. I can't find a single fault with it. It's just about perfect. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, the combat system, the "Splinter Cell"-esque stealth sequences, the voice acting, the visuals, the storyline... so damn good in every way. If you want a cheap copy of the game, Games For Windows Live (GFWL) is offering it on their On Demand download service for only $12.50. It's similar to Steam in that you have to download a client that runs while you play. Unfortunately some people are having problems with the service (downloads don't complete all the way, installation errors that require downloading the game again). There are a lot of horror stories about the GFWL service since it's so young, so buyer beware. But if you can play the game without issues as I have so far, it's well worth the purchase. Deal ends today, and it looks like GFWL will have four similar deals to this through March.

Well, Star Trek: Online seems to be improving with every play, and with each passing day.
I'll be a Captain before the night is through - the first time I've ever put any effort into an MMO, and frankly, I love it.
Yes, it's buggy and perhaps slightly repetitive - but as someone who doesn't mind RPG-esque repetition in his games, it suits me fine.
I'd suggest trying the game out, especially if you're a trekkie.

I don't think I could ever see myself paying a monthly fee to play a video game. Not even the Star Wars: Old Republic MMORPG is something I'd consider paying $10-15 a month to play. Over the course of a year you'd end up paying upwards of $180, which IMO is just too much for a game that I would've already paid $40-50 for.

Vavle released a new mysterious patch to Portal within the last couple days that many think is a riddle regarding a new game. Portal 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 3 are the two being thrown around most. People on the Steam forums are at work trying to decipher it's hidden meaning. Story regarding the patch/riddle. Also regarding the riddle.
