When you die, you're completely done and have to start over, correct? I should give that a shot some time. You can only do that with new games, right?

Be sure to do it away from this thread. I don't want to have to clean anything up Also, anyone else remember the old Rocket Knight games on the 16-bit consoles? Well there's a new one out and it's available on Steam. $15 is a bit too much IMO, but they should have a half-off sale at some point, at which time I'm buying. Rocket Knight Adventures on the Genesis was one of my favorite games from my childhood.

Played the Rocket Knight demo, and man, this game is exactly how I remember it, except with updated visuals. The music for the opening level is even the same as from the original game. Really fun while it lasted (you get to play two demo levels: One standard, one flying) and the hard difficulty setting is just that: hard.
If you were a fan of the original 16-bit game, I highly recommend picking this up.

Anyone see those commercials for Everquest II on some sites, which is pretty much using geek speak, like "Your MMO, Fail!" and "Our MMO pwns your MMO"? Really, Sony?! REALLY?!

I haven't seen those ads yet, but I'm not terribly surprised. I really wish SOE didn't have DC Universe Online, SOE's support is atrocious.
I used to play Pirates of the Burning Sea and I had an issue that required me to contact a Customer Service Representative. I didn't get a reply from them, and the issue was such that I stopped paying for the game and stopped playing.
90 days after I stopped playing they send me an e-mail asking for details on my issue. Keep in mind that I sent the issue in well over 100 days before I got a reply. Ridiculous, and as a huge proponent of online gaming it is embarassing as well.

steam is having another "HEY LOOK AT THESE CRAZY DEALS!" sale again.
And in other news, wow hearts of iron is really complex. Like... really complex.
I don't even think x-com was as complex as hearts of iron.

speaking of hearts of iron, hearts of iron was/is on sale during the steam sale:
Don't get hearts of iron three if you're thinking about getting a hearts of iron game. Get 2.
I got three and it's expansion pack, and let me tell you, that expansion pack didn't fix any of the problems three has. Two is a much better playing game and it has more features.

Mafia II is an excellent game, probably in my top three of this year (with Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption). Sure, it doesn't really offer any of the side activities that are available in GTA or Saints Row and Joe doesn't call Vito every five minutes and ask him if he wants to go look at American titties (although he probably would do that if Vito had a car phone), but as far as I'm concerned none of that stuff was needed anyway. Mafia II, just like the first one, is supposed to be an interactive mobster movie with a strong emphasis on storytelling, and it does that very well. Well, okay, maybe there could have been a few more things to do around town, but I'm perfectly fine with the lack of all the extraneous crap I never liked in any other games either and the narrative more than makes up for it. Of course, while I enjoyed the 15 hours it took me to complete the storyline, there were some parts that bothered me about the game. First of all, the garages that fit ten cars and where your car always respawns if you lose it... and you can get any car from any garage whenever you want. While this was nice in Saints Row, it just doesn't fit Mafia at all. This gets particularly ridiculous when {Spoiler}Vito's house gets burned to the ground and he supposedly loses everything he owns, yet his car collection is still intact in Joe's garage. I guess the garages in this game are related to the item chests in Resident Evil... Also, the collectible Playboy magazines. Hey, I have nothing against boobs in my Mafia game or otherwise, quite the contrary, but as we all know Playboy started publishing in 1953 and Mafia II is set in the years 1943-51, so it's a bit jarring to find those magazines lying around ten years before it even existed. The same applies to quite a few songs on the radio, but to a lesser extent. (on a side note, the soundtrack is amazing) Yeah, this is pretty much nitpicking but since the game mostly does such a good job portraying the 40s and 50s, these anachronisms are a bit annoying. Oh yeah... on the technical side, I had a bit of a problem with a memory leak or something. Whenever I played more than one or two chapters in one sitting, the game would start lagging like mad and wouldn't run normally until I quit playing and restarted.
