Very interesting!
That is a good market.
Let's hope that if this does start that it doesn't become the meal ticket of 30 has-beens.
I wonder if Angle could be tempted to move closer to home?

I knew it had NYC, which was is the biggest/best market in the US, but I was not aware to the extent it extended until I saw that map. If the Wilpons did start up this organization and did put it on SNY, things could get exciting really quick.

Before I read this topic I was playing EWR 1996 scenario. This is like a fantasy fed popping in between an EWR game. So whats the name of the fed, Rings of Fire, Crash Course Combat, Smoky Mountain Wrestling Rebirth, 21st Century Wrestling, World Level Wrestling, Narf Point Wrestling...whats it gonna be! Narf Point Wrestling. Owned by Pinky and The Brain. And they're gonna take over the world. It was owned just by Pinkie it was a backyard company. Brain had a global promotion call World Domination Wrestling im pretty sure.

I read that. It's a small one though. I'm not American, but I've never heard of SNY. Is it carried/available on regular cable nationwide? If not then, it's no difference than the regional TV many indies have, except that it's in NY. It's broadcast to the entire NYC market, which includes northern NJ, PA, CT, and upstate NY on basic cable and is available nationwide via Satellite. NYC alone makes up for 6% of the USA's media population/saturation. Its media market carries a couple more million, estimated up to 10 million people. It's significantly bigger than being an indy on TV. That's a hell of a jump start. Just read that SNY is actually connected more closely to the Comcast Sports Net franchise more than the Fox Sports one, which actually has a greater media penetration. Keep in mind, Comcast has been trying to buy NBC for at least two years now, too. All the Sports Nets are tied into each other. I have Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, and even though companies like Bellator say their show is exclusively on Fox Sports Net, I get it on my Comcast Sports Net. The only difference is Comcast owns 50% of some and Fox owns 50% of most. But the other 50% is all owned by the same people.

I think it has potential. I'm not sure why they would start it in Florida though especially if the network they'd most likely put it on is in New York. I'm guessing it might have something to do with not having to pay income tax in Florida and New York's being much higher. Some people suspect that is part of the reason why Lebron James went to Miami.
the big advantage of doing shows iin New York though is that they'd get much bigger crowds than they would in Florida. Ask TNA. lol

Why can promotions not start in California or Texas? I am sick of North East/Florida.

PWG is based in California, as was XPW.
You also get AAA and CMLL on the Spanish channels depending where you live.

This is Sean Davis for those who don't know him He looks like Vader if you sucked the badass out of him. Sean is one of the top hands in Florida along with his partner in the Hearbreak Express. Don't let his physique fool you. There's so many great stars on the indy circuit who are worthy of a national spotlight- Bruce Santee, Nooie Lee, Heartbreak Express, Sideshow, Eddie Taurus...I could go on and on. Interesting to see how this one pans out. I'll keep my ears open when talking to my friends on the FL indy circuit.

I thought Florida was a mecca for wrestlers, both active and retired because of its tax system, or something, there must be a reason TNA moved there and why the 'E started up FCW there. As promising as this promotion sounds, why would they hire the most injured wrestlers they can find if they're offering healthcare? Seems like a huge financial drain for little reward... Waltman has Hep-C, there's no way he can be used in ring and his look, his mic skills and mind for the business don't make up for that. If they want to get backstage talent, get Raven, get Nova, get Scott D'Amore, I'm sure they could come up with a hell of a program, both from a storyline and in ring standpoint... Kanyon would have been on my list too were he still alive.

I'll wait and see how this develops before really commenting. Right now I am set to "cautiously optimistic."
I think there is definitely a market for old school pro wrestling.

Jack Evans Teddy Hart Larry Sweeny Alex Kozlov (correct me if I'm wrong) Sweeney is pretty much out of the business because of personal issues. The others are full time roster members down in Mexico who have only been used on occasion recently by ROH. Sweeney is indeed taking bookings again, but I don't know if we can say he's back "full time." The only promotion that seems to be booking him at the moment is IWC, and he's canceled on them twice in the past year. That said, he could be asset to a promotion like this, provided that he has his personal life in check. As for Kozlov and Evans... Aren't they working for that lucha promotion/TV show that debuts on MTV2 tomorrow? Even if AAA would let them work for "Rich Guy Presents: Heartbreak Express Wrestling Federation," their commitments to MTV/Viacom might put a proverbial monkey wrench in things. If they want to get backstage talent, get Raven, get Nova, get Scott D'Amore, I'm sure they could come up with a hell of a program, both from a storyline and in ring standpoint... Kanyon would have been on my list too were he still alive. As much as I would love to see it, there's no way Scott D'Amore will get involved with something like this. He's too busy with MPW in Canada at the moment. And about the current roster: The only guys worth anything anymore are Scorpio and, to a much, much lesser extent, Sabu. Shane Douglas is alright, provided that he brings a few Pittsburgh/Ohio guys with him. As anyone who watches PWO can tell you, that area is teeming with undiscovered talent. (Shane is helping to book the aforementioned IWC at the moment, so him bringing a few "locals" with him is not out of the realm of possibility.) One more thing: If they want to make a splash, they should attempt to sign Bryan Danielson. Casual fans might not care, but Internet fans/smarks - the audience they will most likely be going after first - will eat it up.

Nice! I love this idea.
Personally, I would sign:
Bryan Danielson Kid Kash Amazing Kong Bob Holly John Heidenreich Gene Snitsky Alissa Flash/Cheerleader Melissa Prince Nana Austin Aries SID Giant Bernard Carlito Paul London Shelton Benjamin Jimmy Yang/Akio/whateverhisnameis Billy Kidman (if he's not retired) Sara Del Rey LuFisto Mustafa Saeed New Jack Mike Knox
And that's just off the top of my head. There are actually a lot of awesome indie talent and free agents right now.

It has been reported that the Wilpon family got clobbered in the Bernie Madoff thing and have taken a second mortgage on the Mets, who themselves are losing money. It's also been reported that they are going to try rebuilding their wealth through Sportschannel NY, but it doesn't have much programming besides the Mets. This new fed may be part of a bigger strategy to diversify SNY's schedule.
