I read on another site that TNA does want Mickie James to be the face of the Knockout division and have it built around her. That sounds familar. Honestly I wish TNA would try to build up their own talent and utilize the women they have to their fullest potential instead of constantly relying on ex WWE talent (yes I am aware that Mickie was in TNA before but she made her name in the WWE). It just makes them look desperate. I thought they wanted Angelina Love to be the face of the KO divsion. I guess they don't believe that she can do it. Also I guess they feel that Sarita cannot feel that role either. Because I have read that wanted to start using her more. And I really don't understand why they would be quick to abandon an idea that one or both could be central talents in the division. Angelina is full of charisma and cuts promos like no one's business. She was way over upon her exit. And was still majorly over upon her return. TBP 1 segments, often featuring her, got some of the highest ratings that TNA's females have ever received. Yet they did nothing for her face push. No mic time for the whole month of January on Impact. And a .500 or sub record overall iirc. Losing to Tara. Needing Tara to fight battles for her. Getting beaten up by TBP with no payoff. Winning a title in the most hairbrained way ever. And then getting attacked by Tara who shortly afterward left the company. And Sarita was crazy over upon her arrival and putting super matches. Okay, they did the tag team thing with her and Taylor. But lately she hardly gets TV time and it's like they've auto bailed on any thought of pushing her either. Your comments about 'sounds familar' seems appropriate. Knowing TNA, this could lead to another case where they opt for some kind of imagined quick fix. I like Mickie too. But she hasn't generally been herself for the last couple of years. Does Dixie (among whoever else) really have such a fascination with the WWE that she can't bring herself to avoid undercutting TNA associated talent before it's even been given a real chance? And even when it shows promise?

OK, so when WCW and WWF was raiding each others talent rosters back in the 90s, that was cool cause it was business. When TNA does it, it's in bad taste?

That's because everything TNA does is wrong. Jeez. It doesn't matter how much some people like things or ideas, because TNA can't do anything right ever!

I have no problem with TNA signing ex-WWE talent. The problem is that they seem to want to sign everyone that the WWE has released or was associated with the WWE at one time.
I just feel that TNA should be more selective on which former WWE, WCW and ECW talents they bring in and focus more building up their own homegrown talent and trying make them stars. Instead of relying so much on which talent the WWE is going to release next so they can sign them.
Also their roster is already bloated enough with a lot of talent not getting airtime on Impact. That should tell TNA right there that they need to stop signing people.

The problem with TNA is that they aren't really stealing much talent, they are picking up leftovers, most of whom were forced from WWE for a good reason and many of whom seem to be in it only for a check. I really enjoy Christian, Rhino, 3D, etc. the guys who WANT to be there and who want to contribute. Mickey James can't be bothered to make wrestling her priority when it was her career and she was making a lot more money to do it, after just going through the Lashley debacle how can Dixie think this is a good idea?

WWE 2009 releases that TNA signed: Brian Kendrick D-Lo Brown (as a road agent) Jeff Hardy Mr. Kennedy Ric Flair Tazz Tomko Val Venis Victoria WWE 2009 releases that TNA has not signed: Bam Neeley Candice Michelle Eugene Gavin Spears (worked a TNA dark match) Hade Vansen Hardcore Holly JBL Jim Duggan Kevin Thorn Kizarny Lauren Mayhew Lillian Garcia Manu Matt Cappotelli Mike Adamle Ricky Ortiz Ron Simmons Ryan Braddock Scotty Goldman Sgt. Slaughter Sim Snuka The BoogeyMan Umaga Only one that seems a total blunder was Val Venis. Though Tomko seems to be a bit of a mess as well, but they seem plenty aware of that and aren't featuring him like before he left the first time. Haven't hired anyone who was released this year (over a dozen), but the ones they'd possibly want (Mickie, Shelton, Helms) are still within 90 days.

Mickie James was basically the John Cena or Triple H of the WWE Diva's division. I don't see any reason why TNA shouldn't try to sign her and make her the face of the Knockouts. She was one of the few divas since Trish Stratus (and largely thanks to her feud with Trish) that has been able to connect with the audience.

Yet shouldn't it also be said given the placement of women's pro wrestling in the states that a talented female such as Mickie James should be hired because of the exposure she could give it? I mean I could understand your concern if it was someone who was terrible. Mickie isn't a Scott Hall whose basically seems to be living off his name and former glory (Sorry Scott Hall fans). Still it does speak to TNA's lack of development and overemphasis on hiring people who were related somehow to the WWE (except for Sting, of course).

Also, why the hell does TNA want to be associated with someone who is only in it to promote her own products? They're probably going to put the belt on her and invest a lot of TV time on her when she otherwise wouldn't work there if she didn't have an album to shill.
Logic would dictate that a company would want to hire employees who actually enjoy their work and aren't openly using their job (and the company's money and time) to promote their own agenda.
(And before someone compares this to WWE's guest hosts, let me remind you that Jon Lovitz and Carl Edwards were not used on WWE television outside of their one appearance on the program. Neither were signed to expensive contracts or pushed as faces of a WWE division or given title reigns.)

OK so TNA didn't sign everyone that was released from the WWE in 2009. You also forgot about TNA signing Trevor Murdoch last year. I think they did want to bring in Candice Michelle last year before she got pregnant and I read that they are interesed in making Lillian Garcia their new ring announcer. I know they don't sign everyone and I didn't say that but you have to admit that TNA does seem to put a little overemphasis on signing ex-WWE talent and pushing them over their own homegrown talent. Also the point of my last post is basically with all the talent TNA has already and with them needing to make budget cuts. Why keep signing more wrestlers when they can barely feature a lot of the ones they currently have? My last post was referring to both the male and female divisions. I'm not saying that they shouldn't try to sign Mickie James and I didn't say she didn't have talent, but if they do sign her and make her the #1 Knockout it does make them look like they can't develop their own talent to be stars. As I said before why can't they invest in trying to make Angelina, Sarita, or even Velvet the face of the KO division?

Was just pointing out that they don't go and sign "everyone that the WWE has released". They have made some poor choices of people to bring in, but I think overall more hits than misses (as far as the wrestler being used and not being awful, financially possibly another story but don't know/care). As for right now, if they really "need to make budget cuts" it's probably not the best idea (but "TNA is broke omg" was a weekly news item for much of their existence).
