Anyone else find this really annoying? It's like he's not even trying to take anything seriously. He had the lebell lock on Miz last night and instead of looking intense applying pressure on the move he just sat there with a cheshire cat grin on his face.
And this guy is meant to be likeable?

He's content in the fact that at any moment, he can own The Miz in the ring.

Yeah.
When he did this during NXT, I assumed it was because he generally was the better wrestler but was being poorly used and he was just laughing at himself because better that than cry, so I kinda let him off.
But now, seriously, he needs to get with it. The smile just ruins every promo in his direction, because it looks like he wants to laugh at what is being said to him, which is hardly the best way to get a fued over. And doi it during the match.......just no.
I don't know if it's his excitement to have finally made it to WWE, whether he is one of these guys who buys his own hype and really things he is better than everything going on around him, or if he simply doesn't realise he is doing it, but whatever it is, someone needs to slap him upside the head and stop him doing it!

I took it as he was proving a point to Miz, and enjoying making him submit.
He can be intense as hell when he wants to be, judging by some of his ROH matches I've seen.

Wow. I am amazed at the inventiveness of people finding brand new things to kvetch about, regarding Daniel Bryan.
"What now, you don't like my locker combination?"

Well if you had to job to Darren Young, Skip Sheffield and Michael Tarver (twice), you'd be sarcastic too.

I hate pretty much every mannerism John Cena has, but I manage to live with it.

I posted this in the other thread, it works better here.....
"It might just be me, but I don't get why DBD's gimmick is that he's smug and thinks he's too good for the WWE.
I'm not sure yet whether it's intentional, but it's irritating."
I presume he's playing up his character that he's a hero to smarks who do think he's too good of a wrestler to be wrestling Alex Riley.
As has been said, I'm not sure what about the character is supposed to be likeable.

I hate it. I hated that they had him cut his hair. He looks like a 12 year old boy now.
I would really like to see them give him the American Dragon badass gimmick back. I heard that WWE trademarked the American Dragon name and own it now as apart of his original WWE deal but that might just be a rumor.

Cena has crappy face moments, but at least he tries to make the match seem intense and like he is straining to do whatever.........DBD does just smirk alot. It's annoying and distracting from what should be him showcasing his, supposedly, excellent skills.

Daniel Bryan just screams heel to me. After he wins the title from the Miz he should turn heel and take the "smug, too good for WWE" thing to a whole other level It'd be pretty fun

And still manage to lose to him. He's 1-0 against Alex Riley so far. Though I can't see him winning at NoC. Fixed for accuracy. He beat Miz Junior, and made Miz tap outside of a match. He's yet to actually win a match against the man.

He did on RAW shortly after his NXT exit/shortly before his "firing". After the match he threw Miz over the announce table onto Cole.

Yeah, the smiling during a match is pretty dodgy, but I guess they're going for a "I know I can beat this guy" vibe.
I don't mind the smiling during Miz's promos though. You know who else used to do that? Cena.

He might be intense in ROH but right now he's being seen by a wide audience as some smiley, sarcastic twat. Well, he's being seen by you that way. I don't know that that qualifies as a "wide audience," though. This part of the wide audience sees him as someone who has been subjected to such ridiculous indignities by Miz over the past year that he finds it absolutely sublime every time he gets the chance to humiliate him. It's the back-and-forth beginnings of a feud that could eventually get intense, if they can ever prove to one another that each of them are worth taking seriously. Right now, Miz thinks Bryan's a total loser and that his wrestling isn't a good enough reason to respect him. Right now, Bryan thinks Miz can't wrestle his way out of a paper bag, and the rest of what he does well isn't enough to make up for it. So, Miz disrespects Bryan by subbing someone else into the match they were supposed to have. And Bryan disrespects Miz by smiling ear to ear as he makes both of them tap out. And it's going to go on that way until the competition between them has become fierce enough that each of them sees a worthy competitor in the other. And if this feud goes on long enough for that to happen, what comes out of it is gonna be something to remember.

Smiling Dragon! Why does Bryan smile so much? If you spent that much time with Paul London, you would have a perma-grin, too.
