I think it'd be brilliant if next year, they decided to go with another British comedian, as Gervais was just too offensive. Enter Frankie Boyle.

I haven't laughed so hard in ages. I was so thrilled when I heard he would be host.
His breaking the WC religion rule in the end had me in stitches.

Now there's an offensive comedian that I do find shockingly funny. Though I feel there would be so much hell to pay if Frankie was let loose on American TV.

Finally caught the opening monologue from last night that I sadly missed.
Why are people going on about how incredible he was? It was the same jokes everyone has been making for the past generation.
Tom Cruise is gay! *laughter* Cher is old! *laughter* Hugh Hefner is also old! *laughter* Did you know Mel Gibson is an anti semite?! *laughter* ...Kim Catrall is old! *laughter*

I loved him and would book him for every show I could. I'd so go wild with glee if he was booked to be the host of the Oscars. It would never happen, especially after last night, but man that was great. Bunch of tight-asses (not you guys but the people at the awards show ).

Ooh. Aah. Ricky Gervais. Making Jokes. Again. *Sucks air through teeth.* I'm such a funny man! *looks at camera & makes long awkward pause.* There, Every Ricky Gervais routine ever. Probably.
I agree with Sharpy though, America needs to get Frankie Boyle. Those who don't know who he is, I suggest you Youtube him with EXTREME caution.

NBC and Golden Globes both hired him knowing full well he caused this fuss. Why NBC? Because, well, NBC are 4th. They need anything for ratings at this point.

So some people can't understand an Englishman with no real accent speaking perfectly good English?

So some people can't understand an Englishman with no real accent speaking perfectly good English? If they don't speak like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, then by god it isn't proper English!

Yeah, I have to try too hard to find him funny. The Office UK was the only show I needed an IV after watching.

So some people can't understand an Englishman with no real accent speaking perfectly good English? No, he just needs to speak UP and CLEAR. He runs his words together too much. He's probably the only Englishman in recent memory who I can even understand half of the time (it's not ALL the time).

Not a fan of it. For some reason I love Gervais as an actor ("The Invention Of Lying" and Extras are awesome), but his stand-up does nothing for me.
I prefer Kathy Griffin for comedy that mocks celebrities. She tends to poke fun at herself along with her targets.

Not a fan of it. For some reason I love Gervais as an actor ("The Invention Of Lying" and Extras are awesome), but his stand-up does nothing for me. I'm fairly similar to this, I just think he needs somebody to reign him in. On TV he as Stephen Merchant, in movies I suppose it's the execs or directors. I get the feeling nobody on the Simpsons was brave enough to tell him his episode was embarrassing. Than again I feel the sudden urge to defend him as my accent is fairly similar to his as I'm from the same Town. Finally his podcasts with Karl Pilkington are hilarious. Edit: I used to be fairly fond of Boyle but to me he stopped being funny a while back, now it just seems like he's just out to shock. However him being let loose on American TV would be great.

So some people can't understand an Englishman with no real accent speaking perfectly good English? This really has me baffled too! His comedy isn't for everyone, but in no way would I ever consider him even remotely incomprehensible....
