I know there is a Golden Globe thread but I want this to be about Gervais only.
What did you think of his Golden Globe stuff?
Funny, harsh, over the line?
I loved it personally because it's honest. These are things we are all thinking but don't say, which is what the best comedians do.

I absolutely loved it. Honestly, celebrities deserve to be taken down a peg every now and then. I think it's great that he's not afraid to touch the taboo subjects and poke fun at them.

Loved it too, probably cos I am a fan of Ricky already though. People are obviously going to think he overstepped the line because no one has ever bothered going near the line before him. He was having fun, not his fault if a couple of uptight celebrities can't handle being joked about while earning millions.

I can honestly say, he is probably the least funny British comedian I know. [Didn't watch the Golden Globes, just based on past experience]. It's actually a crying shame that of all the great British comedians there are HE'S the one that America and other countries are bound to know the most.
He has his moments sure, everyone does, but they are very few and far between mountains of rubbish.

He wasn't funny. Not because of the overstepping bounds, but because he can't deliver a joke to save his life.

I love Ricky Gervais. He always looks like he's having a ball. That new show of his on the Science channel is going to be hilarious.

I don't find him to be funny in the least. I agree, he can have his moments but even a broken clock is right 2 times a day.

I've never found this guy funny. And half the time I can't even understand what he's even saying.

I find him funny. What did he say that was over the line?

Reading some of the more controversial stuff...
Yeah, that's pretty much been Gervais' stick for years.
Comes on stage, pisses off people, America laughs for some reason.
Repeat for next Award Show/Charity Gig, whatever.
So no, I don't find him funny. I find him an annoying attention seeker.

British comedian talks in a sarcastic and abrasive manner. Film at eleven.
(Not a huge fan of Gervais, but some of the jokes there were pretty good. His best thing has to be the Extras Christmas special, though, which the whole rant on celebrity culture in general.)

Ricky Gervais is the unfunniest comedian in the World. Yes, unfunnier than whoever you're thinking of to counter my argument. The man is garbage.

The Office (UK) while a great show of acting, is not a particularly amazing comedy show. And Ive never watched Extras in my life, but I just searched for this clip, and it's one of the best pieces of television I have EVER seen. I mean, one of the best. Everyone should watch this. He isnt half as funny as he thinks, but goddamn, his delivery as a serious actor here is great.

The jokes could have been funnier if only his delivery wasn't so bad and he wasn't so apologetic.

I love British comedy, half the reason is because we're so mellow and laid back about things.
and that's all I have to say

so what celebs "needed to be taken down a notch''?
I find most of the celebs that are dumped on are REALLY easy targets and the real prick never get picked on
Yea, people rip on Paris and Snooki for having a good time, but noone rips on some guy that's a complete prick and goes over the line. they just sit and applaud.

very few people deserve to get mocked more than actors and actresses. Ricky Gervais is one of the funniest people in the world, and he does a good job of it.
