I shall take it upon myself to post this completely unedited photo of Bobby Kotick (which I found on Destructoid a while ago) in every thread that has something to do with Activision.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Call of Duty is somewhere near the top of my list of "I really don't get why this is so popular."
I played through Modern Warfare 2 from start to finish on the hardest difficulty. And all I can really say about it is that it was insanely.... average.
Oh and the fact that my friends always imply "CoD IS A MANS GAME! ARE YOU SOME LITTLE GIRL?" while playing with a bunch of screeching 13 year olds online and how some refuse to give anything that's not CoD (or Fifa) a fair chance also grinds my gears

They should milk CoD till it dies - I won't complain. Sure, they could make some new games DLC, but they've gotta go with what makes them the most money.

my friends always imply "CoD IS A MANS GAME! ARE YOU SOME LITTLE GIRL?" Seriously? They're saying that? I wonder what they would think of something like ArmA II, iRacing.com or IL-2 Sturmovik (the first three titles I think of when I'm listing "manly games")...

You can sorta tell that it was the jumping point for where IW just got completely full of themselves after the runaway success of COD4. It's also funny that Treyarch, who were the COD B-Team for a long time, has become the A-Team after the Infinity Ward debacle and Black Ops being way better than every non-COD4 Infinity Ward entry. World at War is also very underrated, IMO. Man if Blizzard, for whatever reason, decides to split off from Activision, they're screwed.

If this is in fact the end of Guitar Hero, good riddance to the series that should have ended with GH5 at the latest. It won't be the end I'm sure someone else will pick it up and to be honest I think GH5 was shit and Warriors Of Rock was a far better game. I thought that might help keep it alive a bit longer.

The Guitar Hero IP (and the entire "Hero" brand, really) is pretty much poison at this point, the name value it used to hold has been ruined for quite a while now, so I will be extremely surprised if someone actually wants to pick it up. Maybe in a few years, but I doubt it.

Remember, they backed out of publishing Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend because they felt that they couldn't be exploited for yearly releases. They also were met with a lukewarm reaction when they eventually were released, but I see where you're coming from. I guess we shall wait and see. I thought Ghostbusters sold ok but Brutal Legend was considered disappointing.

I'm not surprised.
I've always dug Guitar Hero some, but honestly... I picked up new copies of GH:Aerosmith, 3 and WT around a year or so after their release, all for dirt cheap. It ranks up there with football games for losing their value... only you can still find the new copies for those prices everywhere.
And as a fan of Tony Hawk from the original Pro-Skater through Proving Ground, I'm a bit bummed by that. What's more of a shame is, the games sold pretty well. Project 8 was Platinum Hits on the 360.
What also is a shame is the fact that the original series should have been fairly easy to modify to handle DLC packs.

This is Activision. They're just gonna milk Call of Duty for all that it's worth. I'll be happy to see the next one flop as it's caused a company that I despise to become complacent. I really don't mind Activision, then again I don't really get involved in their business too often and only dabble in every other edition of their games. But, for what it's worth they put out decent games that are more usual than not wildly successful. They must be doing something right and I doubt they can get by with releases from a single franchise. They have a pretty bad habit of making good games then not marketing them and letting them die, then blaming every one but themselves as well (Singularity being a very recent great game that they just let die).

Thinking about it, the last TH game I bought was American Wasteland. My favorite was T.H.U.G. though, I absolutely loved the storyline involved with that game. That's the only TH game that I go back to over and over again. Although I'll admit that THPS2 had some awesome bonus videos. Spiderman skating? f*** yeah! I bought the two after American Wasteland (Project 8 and Proving Ground) but hardly played them. American Wasteland was the last one I actually played fully through. My personal favorite was THUG2... I play through story mode at least once a year. hmm I forgot Wasteland and project 8 came after THUG 2... So I think the last one I owned was 8 but the last I paid my own money for was wasteland

I completely lost track of the Tony Hawk games sometime around THUG 2, and I think I had already stopped playing them after THPS4.

I gave up on Tony Hawk games when they came out with the skateboard controller. All of them were pretty good before that (although I hardly played Project 8).
I hope someone comes out with another good skateboarding game, I've never been able to get into the Skate series because I hate it's controls.

I stopped liking the Tony Hawk games after they went the serious "Skate" route. American Wasteland was the last one I played.

Since this is an Activision-bashing thread, allow me to show you guys something: Activision is making a new Spyro game called "SkyLanders: Spyro's Adventure". Tell me, does that look like him?

I was never a big Spyro fan or anything, but he certainly didn't look like that. That thing is some sort of a horrible monstrosity with the face of... of Crazy Frog.

Yes, Activision. Because EVERY game has to have a big ugly "hardcoar" looking character as the lead. Even your fun platformers.
Ok, who am I kidding? It won't be fun, and I bet they'll find a way to not make it a platformer.
