I wonder if Stacy Carter would have gotten a bigger pop?

I loved seeing Grand Master Sexay again. The last time we saw him was in 2004. Good god has it been that long. They should have had Scotty come out to try and stop Sexay from siding with Cole. That would have been awesome.
Have Scotty come out and put the goggles on Sexay and then everything becomes clear as he and Scotty get in the ring and dance. Beat the hell out of Cole together. Sexay does the Hip Hop Drop and Scotty does the Worm. That would have been the best.

It was a sad segment in that regard, but truth be told I've always found Brian Christopher underrated. Sure, Scotty did the Worm and Rikishi did the stinkface, but it was BC that actually carried the in ring exploits of Too Cool. His rant tonight about how he was once one of the most popular men in the company wasn't actually hyperbole.
Was it really a lack of heat or did fans at the arena simply have no idea how to respond? Those that knew him recall him being a babyface so it was quizzical that Grandmaster would come back and cut a bitter promo on his dad. I remember this stuff from way back in the USWA so I really enjoyed it, but it's likely lost on newer fans.

I think it's a lot because of time passing, but the ones that did know him were probably conflicted. Besides, the bleached hair and lack of any Too Cool gear was also probably kind of jarring.

I wonder if Stacy Carter would have gotten a bigger pop? No way. I was joking around a bit that Cole was going to bring out Andy Kaufman. Outing his own faking of death. (I know he wasn't faking on a personal note)

On a side note about that segment, Michael Cole is an amazing heel.

I always thought it was really Rikishi that got Too Cool over with the fans in a big way. They liked seeing Rikishi dance. I think Scotty's Worm was probably part of it as well. come on, they were over solely based on the fact that grandmaster sexay put goggles on before dropping the leg from the top rope I had completely forgotten why I liked GMS back in the day. That was why!

Wow - three pages and I'm the first person to have noticed the odd resemblance between Grandmaster Sexay and Food Network's Guy Fieri? I thought we might be getting Michael Cole's Drive-Ins, Diners and Dives... Turn it up, indeed.

Nobody recognized him because he wasn't wearing his goggles.

He got pretty blown up with all those intricate dance moves he did. Would it kill you to not breath into the microphone for thirty second intervals?

To be fair, let's say they remembered him. How did you expect them to react like, it was supposed to be slightly uncomfortable, especially for Lawler. I thought the segment accomplished what it needed.
However, I think Stacy and a potential Kizarny run in would have been nice.

It suffered from the problem all these types of segments do.
Someone from face's past: "I have legitimate grievances against you!"
*crickets*
Face: "U mad"
*pop*
Always gets me.

He was the bad half of a mediocre Attitude Era lower mid-card tag team that liked to dance badly. You're really not missing much. too cool were over back in the day, go look at some old youtube videos and listen to the pops they got. Yea I do't quite get that statement. They were both solid in the ring and were there to pretty much energize the fans. Watch the 2000 Royal Rumble and listen to the pop they get. Bigger than The Rock from what my ears heard.

Honestly, I had never even heard of him until he showed up tonight. And honestly like 90% of that crowd was the same way...thus no reaction. Had he returned in Memphis or in a crowd of "older fans" then he might of gotten a response. I myself marked but was worried he would "go into business for himself" knowing his history of drug usage and being an assclown....I feared the worst when he came out dancing like a fool. He looks to be in less than great shape.

I love that he gassed himself dancing. I think it actually worked with the segment.
And the dancing was worth it. I had to watch it twice on DVR. There's a lot going on.
And I could care less about the crowd reaction for that part of that segment. It's Brian Christopher in 2011 on RAW for god's sake, he's not exactly going to tear the roof off the place.

I'm not 100% convinced that it wasn't Dustin Rhodes.

Honestly, if he were a larger man he could have been a big star as a heel. He was fantastic in the indies before he got called up to the WWF. He was meant to be the top heel of the light heavyweight division, but since the whole division was received like a fart in a church he was shunted off into the tag ranks.
