After Zack Ryder didn't appear on RAW last night, Dolph Zigger tweeted the following:

Yet another reason to like Dolph Ziggler.

Here's what baffles me. They gave Ryder a shirt, you don't think maybe the hometown appearance might move some merch? Was the worry that the "hometown pop" would outdo someone else?

Well, the only thing I remember from the Santino/Sheamus match was the Ryder chant. Not just because I like trolling, but because I love Ryder.

Man, a lot of WWE's guys are looking to get him a push.
God, how weird would it be if the WWE roster staged a walk out, not for benefits, not for their status as independent contractors, not for wanting a union not for any of that, but instead cause Zack Ryder isn't getting a push?

To the WWE he is a loser heel. Maybe bringing him out on Raw would give him a nice little pop and confuse the Little Jimmys out there who think he's a bad guy?

It really seems no one in that company hates him...

God, how weird would it be if the WWE roster staged a walk out, not for benefits, not for their status as independent contractors, not for wanting a union not for any of that, but instead cause Zack Ryder isn't getting a push? You know, I go back to a story Austin told on one of his DVD's. Something about heading into the merchandise meeting and saying "why isn't there a shirt for me" and the response was, more or less, we don't think there's money in it. He was encouraged to do his own thing since they didn't have any major ideas, and it worked. I see Ryder doing the same, with many of his peers jumping behind him. We've seen signs, we've seen the (admittedly hometown crowd) explode for him, so I think he's taken the old addage of "make your opportunity" and run with it. Were this 1997, he'd be a mainstay on RAW getting a solid midcard push to test the waters. You've got talent putting him over, you've got commentatrs that will talk him up when he gets time on TV, so the build is definitely possible. The next step, of course, is a solid feud and a meaningful storyline to capitalize on the work he put in to get himself over.

I'm starting to believe this is a work. They have him start doing these home videos and see if they catch on. Build a guy up elsewhere because you don't have room on your TV shows. Have other wrestlers show their support for him so the fans rally around even more. Plant a story that you have banned Ryder signs which makes fans want to go against that ban so more and more Ryder signs are brought. They tease him a bit just to keep you on the hook. They want you to be outraged by him not being on Raw so when he does show up, the pop is massive and the crowd stays behind him.

It was really stupid. Were they trying to send Zack a message that they are still in control after he has pretty much got himself over without them? Sometimes it seems WWE operates that way.

Austin is my favorite of all time but I tuned into this 3 HOUR RAW, IN LONG ISLAND, expecting to see Zack Ryder, and didn't. But I did get to see another fake Obama press conference. f*** the WWE.

I wouldn't blame HHH without knowing. could be the writers, could be Vince, who knows.
it's pretty dumb like Dolph said, they aren't just screwing Zack, but the fans and the boys in the back. have we ever seen someone with a following like this, and loved by all his coworkers doing .... NOTHING. sorry Superstars doesn't count more people watch Zack's show than Superstars.
do you not want your workers to you know PUT EFFORT IN AND GET NOTICED? isn't that what they promote on Tough Enough, NXT and whatever else?
despite being a jobber with almost no tv time, he sells merchandise. gets more signs than most of the roster. gets chants and cheers despite doing nothing. won the fan voting on viewers choice raw for a match last year.
yet none of this means anything to the people in charge? usually people in their hometown do SOMETHING even if it involves jobbing.

If this is a work, it's probably one of their best works since... ever! In my recent memory, every other worked shoot either seemed worked, or there was at least a few things you could point to and say "this might be a work". You are the only person I think that has considered this a possible work.

Reading the quote Ziggler give, is he really saying they left off Ryder in order to rib him? I think Ziggler is indicating that WWE did this to send Zack Ryder a message that they are in charge after Ryder basically got himself over outside of WWE's involvement. I may be putting more meaning in his tweet than Ziggler intended, but that's how I interpreted it. It was WWE's message to Zack that he shouldn't expect to be put on TV just because they're in Long Island. They still control his destiny. Is this true? Only Vince and the powers that be know.
