Right now Punk but 1990's Nash would kick Punk's arse now most likely.

Outside of the kayfabed "ju-jitsu" training his character has, does Punk (as in Phil, the real guy) have a real martial arts background?
I'd say it's even: Nash's obvious strength and toughness vs. Punk's youth and superior knees.

It's hard to tell, really. For all his physical problems, Nash could still be one of those tough ass old guys that's faster and stronger than one would expect. Some guys, no matter what they've been through, are just really tough, like Paul Orndorff. Punk could also be deceptively tough; he looks like he's in fantastic shape and refused to get drugged for surgery once; that's pretty ballsy to do. So, who knows? The martial arts is a work but he still might know enough where it could be a factor. There is a part of me, though, that remembers the Punisher and wonders, "Could Kevin Nash just destroy my house like that if wanted?" and I think, yes, yes he could.
In the end, however, I do believe they can both beat up Teddy Hart. Because, f*** that guy ;D.

I think Nash would legit f*** him up. Yeah good one... even though Punk is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai in real-life ... and Nash is a walking muscle tear waiting to happen... get real OT- Didn't Eve choke out Matt Hardy one time backstage? lol... she knows Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu... BJJ is one of the pinnacle Martial Art forms in the world today... it can trump almost anything (Olympic Wrestling, Karate, etc...)... just ask the Gracie family

Punk would totally win, but when he knocks Nash off the dock, Nash is going to accidentally spill the ooze on himself and become Super Nash.
Of course, a few of those roundouse kicks will take the dock down, killing Super Nash.

I'd probably back Punk because I think Punk's kicks to Nash's knees would win him the fight.

Think about Nash for a second.
Big guys can attract attention/fights because folks want to see if they can take them. And he's a wrestler too? Even more assholes trying to step up.
And you know Nash has been an asshole all his career. Folks were probably clamoring to take him down off-camera and I like to think he obliged.
Talk about Nash's knees--you think he doesn't know they're shot? He's a wily guy by EVERYONE'S admission. He's smart enough to keep anybody who isn't trained/naturally gifted from taking out his legs.
And most importantly, you don't get to be 50 yrs old without learning some dirty tricks.
Punk is likely quicker and might even know how to scrap pretty well, but size difference/experience gap is just too much.

Ten years ago (or maybe 15), Nash would have taken it. Now? Punk, definitely.

Does Nash actually have a reputation as a tough guy? Does Punk actually have real fight training?

If we're talking about a street fight here, I've gotta give it to nash. It's not like he'd be bound by any rules that Punk could take advantage of. As said above, Punk goes for one kick....If Nash either dodges or grabs Punk's leg, it's all over.
*IF* punk could land a good, crippling blow first, then Punk could win it. But that's a big, big IF. Simply put, Punk would have to make his first shot count, because he may not get another.

Does Nash actually have a reputation as a tough guy? Does Punk actually have real fight training? Big Kev was a nightclub bouncer for a few years. I've yet to see any proof of Cm Punk's martial arts background other than the "Muay Thai Master" part of his gimmick.

We're talking about a young, active wrestler with martial arts training vs. a 52 year-old veteran who hasn't wrestled in a good while and pretty much has glass legs.
I'm going with Punk by a looooooong shot.

Yeah, I'm a huge Punk fan/mark/whatever but his muay thai training isn't genuine. He learnt how to do it enough to pull it off in matches but that's not the same as using them in real combat situations which actually requires better timing and an ability to adjust for the other guy moving to try to kick your head in.
You're all being worked! /generic internet wrestling crowd phrase

A legit fight wouldn't be a wrestling match, so I don't think any kicks and shit like that would get involved. Punk has bad knees too (not as bad as Nash's) and a bad hip, so Punk isn't necessarily youthful here.
Nash is taller and stronger, and this will most likely be a BRAWL. So as much as I love Punk, I gotta give the edge to Nash.
Although, Jericho did choke out Goldberg backstage once, so I guess you can't count out Punk.

Why is everyone associating kicking with wrestling? If Punk was legitimately trained, he could certainly implement them in a fight.
Size is an advantage, but not an insurmountable one.

Nash. He could win on his knees. Size does matter.

Why is everyone associating kicking with wrestling? If Punk was legitimately trained, he could certainly implement them in a fight. Size is an advantage, but not an insurmountable one. Because in Wrestling, most of Punk's kicks are thrown when his opponent is in position. In a real fight, that wouldn't be the case. That's why the "Break the board" part of martial arts is bull**** because it does nothing for you in a real fight. As far as Punk's training, I haven't seen any sources saying that he has actual training. Although if anybody has any, I would be willing to admit that I'm wrong
