I did a little checking on Sinclair and it seems they aren't fond of spending money;as an example the news department for several of their affiliates have been shut down as a cost cutting measure. Local news has been either outsourced to another station or dropped altogether.
I'd expect to see upgrades related to the quality of the product such as HD cameras, better lighting, etc to make the shows more marketable but I wouldn't expect a huge influx of cash. I was hopeful at first that at least one current big name talent, such as CM Punk would be signed to give them publicity and name recognition but that seems unlikely, What we may be looking at is nothing more than a company trying to fill a need for programming and doing so with a cost effective product. ROH's funding will be stable which to me is a big improvement over trying to run the company based on revenue just from house shows and (primarily) DVD sales and other mechandise. But I wouldn't expect any huge influx of cash and an attempt to compete with TNA/impact wrestling.

They have been doing great since the beginning by taking things one step at a time. Imagine where they will be in 10 years if they just keep slowly progressing, spending money carefully, and just focusing on the product.

Why are so many people complaining already? There have already beena ton of posts by people who are mad that it won't be airning in their area. Well, here's a newsflash people: Right now it doesn't air ANYWHERE. So now that it will air in some markets, it's already an improvement. Add to the fact, that they have already stated that they will try to shop it around and syndicate it to areas that they don't have stations in. And for anyone else, it'll be online. Anyone and everyone who wants to watch it will be able to. How is that bad in any way, shape, or form?
Others are upset that it will change due to being owned by a bigger company. It probably will, but for the better. Increased production values and lighting, and bigger stars that can work the style will only help the company in the long run. Even if the show is somewhat "toned down" to make it more mainstream accessible, it would still be better than what WWE and TNA are currently airing on tv every week.
A lot of you probably don't realize that this sale was probably necessary. People don't sell companies for no reason. This was probably essential to the survival of the product.
People always bitch and complain that they want a real alternative to WWE, and that they are tired of TNA dropping the ball in that regard. Now we're getting one that has blown TNA away since day one for 9 years straight and people still aren't happy.
Personally, I'm excited. This is great news, and after having my hopes destroyed by TNA yet again with their supposed "fresh start" this week, I have something to look forward to and be hopeful for.

Any chance of this meaning the return of licensed music to ROH?

I don't see licensed music as that big of a factor, Fallen Angel's Manson ripoff is good enough for me. As for the change itself? I'm pretty pumped for it, I already though they'd have bad news, but this change sounds great so far. Silkin wouldn't sell the company he already invested a big amount of cash in to someone who'd cancel it after a month or two - at least that's what I hope. And still, the show's cheap to produce and should offset most costs if it's running in enough places... So let's wait and see how it's going to play out, I'm still with ROH after all those years and happy to the nr 3 hopefully getting even stronger.

My biggest reservation is, I have a natural distrust of any corporation that gets their mits into something independent that I love. It has yet to end well.

I‘m kinda confused about this. Last time I checked, the Chicago-land area has a My TV and CW affiliate. Perhaps I‘m ignorant on the topic, but with this area having those channels, why are we excluded?

Sinclair doesn't own every MyNetworkTV or CW, and doesn't own the ones in Chicago.

Well that just breaks my heart. Just watch it online like I was forced to do till HDNet got a bug up their rears and forced the youtube guy to take it all down. Obviously, unless this was cable, some people will be happy and some won't... Sinclair does have a name recognition of sorts in TV and could very easily syndicate to other networks. Wrestling is cheap and people generally watch it. What else could it need for eventual good syndication?

I really hope this gets people more into ROH once they start airing shows, cause so far other than myself,I really don't know anyone in my area who is into ROH,So if this is promoted just right I see this doing really well.

I'm reasonably about this development, even though Sinclair isn't the best corporate partner to have. As one previous poster mentioned, they do like to cut corners. The ABC station in St. Louis went several years without local news, now they have a news program produced by the local NBC affiliate! But I can see the the syndcation part going very well. Sinclair will be able to go to other markets and say something like "Look, we've already got prime time clearance in Buffalo, Nashville and St. Louis and we're the top ranked late night program in Cincinnatti and Tampa. How about dropping those Frasier reruns and adding ROH?" I'm betting they can find a station in most markets that would be willing to do that.

ROH runs on a shoe string budget as it is. Cutting corners means they're....going with no lights or a ring. You can't get much more bare bones than they are already.
I think it's neat that Yahoo actually had this on their front page. As a long-time ROH fan, it's a real mark-out moment. Now, Sinclair's stock going down...eh....

Sinclair owns the local Fox affiliate where I live (they might own others, who knows). My question would be where exactly would they put the ROH show on? They're not gonna cancel any of the the Sunday-Friday primetime Fox shows for this. If they want primetime, they're only option is Saturday night, where it could replace the just canceled Americas Most Wanted. Or their newest thing to compete against Saturday Night Live. Most people aren't home on Saturday night.
Otherwise, they're only options are late night, or some random afternoon timeslot either on weekdays or weekends (if it doesn't get interrupted by whatever sport has on game on. Remember when that used to happen to TNA when it was on Fox Sports Net? Annoying, wasn't it?)
Also, what happens to ROH if this deal fails? THe same thing that happened to WCW?

With the new money coming in, it would be interesting if they bring former guys from the WWE or elsewhere while not going overboard sort of like TNA should have done from the beginning: focus on your own talent and some time to time you hire one star to put your talent over. Or have one star use their name to market your company outside the ring.

With all due respect, I doubt Punk would go back to RoH, even if the newz on his contract is true. He'd probably head to one of the big Japanese groups.
On topic: This great news on two levels. One: RoH has the chance to leapfrog TNA into 2nd place on the US scene. They had better not screw it up.
Secondly, it's great for wrestlers on this side of the Atlantic, because it gives them now a platform in the US that isn't TNA if they're not ready for WWE.

I will say this though, if ROH is looking to branch out into more of a mainstream presence, they better get the belt on a guy with some personality. Eddie Edwards ain't gonna cut it.

You guys should move to Columbus. There's THREE stations owned by Sinclair. Awesome!
Also, wasn't ECW's Hardcore TV in syndication? That'd be pretty awesome if ROH could have their Sinclair show, then also have a real network air a show. That way, they can have two shows, ala ECW, as I loved the fact that they had ECW on TNN, AND ECW Hardcore TV on at the same time. Gave more time for more people for TV exposure, as well as played out a whole bunch more storylines.
