and exactly how many promos have you cut?
Bottom line, Gunner is awesome, and has worked hard (on the indys none the less) to get where he is.
sometimes i feel like the only indy guys that get respect on here are the ones that come from Ring of Honor. its kind of old if you ask me, not knocking anybody from Ring of Honor. But if you claim to be a "knowledgeable wrestling fan" and you mutter that Gunner (Phill Shatter) sucks in the same breathe...then you clearly are not so "knowledgeable".

I tend to show more respect to wrestlers who don't lash out at their fanbase.

I think gunner is a talented wrestler, but this rash of butthurt TNA guys is getting old. Crimson, Gunner, Bischoff...be professional. Don't give a shit what us "insignificant internet smarks" think. Be the bigger person. DON'T RESPOND. You just end up looking bad for the most part, even if what you're saying is true or not.

So, lemme get this right. Crimson lashes out at "internet geeks" and he only gets three pages over several days. But when Gunner defends Impact Wrestling's "Promos Matter" mantra, he gets four in a matter of hours? Guess we can officially say: Gunner > Crimson.

I think it's because this is easier to defend, and thus provokes more discussion that the Crimson issue, which basically boiled down "say it to my face and see what happens" which doesn't wow anyone on the internet.

This thread is a good analogy to TNA, a lot of talking with no real payoff

Not with Vince Russo booking it.

After reading the posts in this thread, I'm kinda confused. From what I've read, Gunner made some comments to fans on the internet & some people are defending him, some are attacking him(and TNA) & some are so mad that they're thinking of killing him & eating him, while trying to figure out which seasonings would be best for the meal...
is that about right or am I reading too much into some comments?

If quality of matches and promo's matter, than why is Gunner getting a push? Seriously does ANYone see Gunner taking TNA to the next level?

Back to the cooking analogy, it feels like TNA at times overseasons and overcooks (the promos and backstage matches) the steak (the matches).
All I ask for is a nice, well-rounded product. Right now it seems like Impact overloads its first hour with promos and backstage segments while hour 2 is a lot of matches. If they balanced it out some between the two hours I think it'd be a lot better (last week's Impact was sorta like that and I think it was a lot better than Impacts past). But now it just feels like TNA is serving me up a well done, dried-out steak when I ordered medium.

I'll never understand that mentality. That's not directed at you personally; it's just the attitude has always confused me.
As just because someone doesn't/can't do something it somehow negates them knowing when something is bad. It's doesn't.
Hell I'm not even weighing in on whether or not Gunner is a bad promo, I haven't heard him enough to judge; I'm just saying the "you're not in the ( insert whichever) business here, so you don't know a thing about it" has always seemed silly.

I'll probably take his opinion on the matter more seriously when they give him a better name than just 'Gunner.'

Imagine if Alex Rodriguez told Bob Costas that his opinion doesn't matter because he never played pro baseball? A-Rod would be skewered and roasted by the media. Gunner and Crimson seem to be eating off the same tree of knowledge. It wouldn't surprise me if Hogan and Bischoff were the ones spewing this nonsense about how the fans should be treated like the lowly marks they are.

If I may, it is a dismissive point. The user of it intends to invalidate the initial comment by using a rhetorical device to attack person saying/typing/whatever the initial comment. Basically it's a fallback tactic for when someone doesn't have anything to really bolster their own arguments, or really refute any counter to theirs. It's used a long in the TNA section because... well eventually the arguments are just running out of fumes. Gunner has a point. But I agree he, and everyone else in TNA, should just zip it. No need to call out the fans, or critics or whatever. Unless they make a point of it and do something other than whining about on the internet. Like feeding a jobber named Brian Alvarez to Crimson or something.

I've noticed most of the negativity towards the internet started when Matt Hardy came into the company. Coincidence? I think not!
