Pick sent in for this round.
Also, just wondering if we're going to get judge's comments on the picks? It was always interesting to get the judges insight in Fan Idol, and I'd love to hear their thoughts on the various shows/films/etc we pick for this game.

Well, what impressed me the most about certain picks in the first round wasn't necessarily what was said but how the catchphrase was employed. "Get off my lawn." had excellent delivery but what really made it for me was when Clint's character said it again to the people that he helped; I liked that a lot because 1. It illustrated his character's conflict: he'll get involved with these bad situations if he has to but he'd rather be alone 2. His catch phrase changed meaning.
I also enjoyed picks like the Community, Happy Days, and the Office ones where the repetition played a big factor in the enjoyment, for want of a better term, that I got out of them. You anticipated them, which I think is a key point to a catch phrase.

.................... Back to the drawing board. I really have to start reading things first.
EDIT: I originally used Loony Toons, but I read the thing about original content. I have sent you a different one, and that is my actual choice.

I'll post my thoughts on the earlier picks after everyone gets their picks in for the current topic.

Pick sent in for this round. Also, just wondering if we're going to get judge's comments on the picks? It was always interesting to get the judges insight in Fan Idol, and I'd love to hear their thoughts on the various shows/films/etc we pick for this game. I didn't judge, but I tried to after I had already fogotten who picked what. Basically, I get these PMs and I have an immediate reaction upon getting them, then viewing them to make sure there aren't any problems in the picks and such. Well, when I saw Big Bad Brad's "Happy Days," I could NOT stop smiling. That's just good wholesome awesomeness there. I LOVED that Nick at Nite commerical when it came out, had forgotten about it entirely, and then it pops up as a pick. I went a little nuts for that--LOVED it. It's also just a phrase you're not going to hear anything close to ANYWHERE else. It's totally Happy Days. And it's the kind of thing I could totally see myself saying as a replacement for being just outright cruel to someone. I marked really hard for Larry Sanders Show too. To me, probably the greatest sitcom of the 90s. And that clip is so unique and stands out. I liked Bugs Bunny just because I'm a sucker like that. Rest of the Story may have been the most original pick of the round for me. That was gutsy AND creative. The more I think about it, the more I believe Roger Murtaugh was a deserving winner (or Top 3). That was a great catchphrase and still makes me laugh today, the way he delivers it that is.

I totally agree on Rest of the Story pegasus. I did not see that coming and when I got it I was pleasantly surprised. Something along those lines could easily be underwhelming and dull but that was far from it. I had to give it a high mark.

pegasuswarrior I'm glad you liked my pick for Round 1.
I'll tell you when I heard the theme for Round 1 I imminently thought of Happy Days. I was trying to think of something else to make sure I choose the best theme possible and I couldn't think of anything better than Happy Days. Also whats funny about Happy Days jumping out at me like that is I haven't watched or thought of Happy Days in probably 10 years but when I saw the theme was Catchphrases the first thing that just jumped out at me was "Sit on it" I think that's pretty amazing considering I haven't thought of or watched the show in 10 years its just amazing how my mind works.
Also my pick for this round was basically the same thing when I seen the theme was Rivals there was one thing that I imminently thought of before I sent my pick in I did think about it a little and had a few other choices in mind but just like last time I had to go with my first instinct, also I personally believe the pick I sent in was one of the greatest rivalries I ever saw, some may agree and some disagree but I got to go with what I know and what I like and I had to see how it will fair with the other competition.

When I saw Happy Days was one of the choices, I was really hoping it was The Fonz's classic "Eyyyyyyyyy", so I was a little disappointed that it wasn't. Personally I feel like that's the all-time standout catchphrase from the show, but your choice was a classic as well. I would have ranked "Eyyyyyyyyyy" a few spots higher, but you definitely still made a great choice. Good work sir.

Judging is starting. Try to have picks in in a couple of hours. If you're late, send them anyway and we'll see what we can do.
When you've got 14 players and 4-7 minutes average worth of videos (which often get watched at least twice by some judges), consideration is kinda important.
Plus, players who actually pick their stuff and wait extra days for others have to combine that with the sometimes three or four days it takes judges to do their thing. Again, consideration.
I WILL take your picks, no problem. I know as much anyone here how busy things can get. I can get the late picks to the judges in mid-judging process. (Please don't ruin anonymity by announcing right and left who turned in what and when you turned it in. Eh, our judges will always be unbiased, but it's really cool at this stage in a game like this when you legit don't know what tastes everyone has and you get to see the picks as fresh as possible as a judge.)
So yeah, back to what I was saying, the show must go on. If they get stuff judged before you take the few minutes it takes just to pick something (ANYthing), we just have to post results and move on.
Not trying to sound harsh at all ... just explaining so that you don't feel left behind. Go ahead and get the pick in. I'm just going to go ahead in a few hours and unleash the judges' wrath upon those that have already turned theirs in (for the sake of time).
