It's that crazy old thread again, rearing it's head - so, what read you currently? I've just taken a break on my train journeys from reading Gilded City, which is a very interesting non-fiction book mainly on the excesses of the rich in turn of the 20th century Manhattan, to read a tbp of the first few Thunderbolts issues. Couldn't really get more different.

I'm reading the Pop Culture and Philosophy book series, which talks about philosophical themes in popular movies, TV shows, comic books, etc. I just finished reading Watchmen and Philosophy and Star Wars and Philosophy (both of which were very great reads), am now reading The Matrix and Philosophy (which is not quite as engaging so far, but I'm still early in it). Soon, I hope to get to Terminator and Philosophy.

Is this a trick question? If so, the posts in this thread.
If not, eh, it's been a long time since I actually read through an entire book at once. I have lots of books and I read through different ones all the time.

The Handmaid's tale.
My sister needed it for her AS Level English Lit class and she really enjoyed it and I told her that I wanted to read something new so she lent it to me. I also have Engleby lined up and she's offered to lend me American Psycho and Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

I tend to read several books at a time. Besides my college text books, I'm currently reading novels: Hunger Games, Nickle and Dimed, Memoirs of a Teenaged Amnesiac, and Snuff.

I'm going to re re re re re read The Dark Tower after I finish The Wheel of Time. I think the Dt ended perfectly; this from someone who waited 13 years just to be able to hold the last book in his hands.

Just finishing the "Thursday Next" series from Jasper Fforde, waiting on Unseen Academicals from Terry Pratchett, and re-reading the entire 14 book OZ series (Which by the way I recommend reading at least once in a lifetime, I like the last one best myself, but it's hard as hell to find the Canon Oz novels)

I've just read 1984 which was an amazing book, so much so I was going to start a thread on it but it's impossible to talk about without veering into politics.
I think I'll be reading catch 22 next.
