Supposedly, he returned it because he wanted to be honest.
Well, if the guy who shot a puck during an Indiana Ice game 90ft into a small hole can't get an insurance company to donate to CHARITY, what are the odds they should get the money after all.

I don't think I'm well off to give 50 racks back...
Watch some lame come in here and say they would give it back...

I would donate 25,000 to charity and put the other 25k into a trust fund for the children's college education.

Incredibly stupid. That money could've gone to paying for at least 2 years of college education.

Well, I see the point, but at the same time, it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. And money is hard to come by these days. it's stupid to give anyone that amount of money for doing that

I would have kept it and put it in an account for the kids college.

It's not like the Hockey League couldn't afford it. They wanted to give it away, so no one was hurting.

If they are a well off family who can afford to give it back, then I can see why he did it. Then again, he could have given the 50 grand to a good cause.

I'm all for teaching honestly, but if you were that intent to not keep the money, there are a lot of people who could use it more than an insurance company wealthy enough to offer that much money in addition to sponsorships. Teach your kids about the importance of giving it to charity or something.

What an idiot. This is a boneheaded parent trying too hard to be the "good guy".
There are much better ways to tell your kids how to become good honest people than throwing away 50 thousand dollars. Its almost as if he has just done this for the news mention that comes with it.

Watch some lame come in here and say they would give it back... LOL Thing is, the shot was taken in the kid's absence, by his IDENTICAL TWIN BROTHER. I seriously doubt any rulebook would've shot that down. Even if worse comes to worst, the parents are in charge of financial matters anyway--those kid's wouldn't have had any say about where the money goes except small handouts over time.

Lets see, putting decent parenting over personal greed. Not saying *I* could do it, but I respect this man for it.

Who said taking the money would be greed? $50,000 could go a long way to helping out with a college fund or some other financial matter, especially in these tough times. If they were going to spend the money on say, an Escalade, that'd be one thing. But potentially screwing over your kids' futures isn't good parenting. If anything, it's awful parenting.
As others have said, even if he didn't want to keep the money he could've at least donated it to the less fortunate.
