Thanks for translating. But no, I could use the money; just not enough to feel like s*** about every dime I spent of it. I'm not saying it makes me more moral or anything, but it's the truth. I couldn't do it without feeling enough guilt to make it not worth it.

Then he would have been mad at whatever made him leave the arena and fail to be there. and what entitles Nate to take that shot? Being his brother and knowing the money will help the family. they should've been upfront more, I agree with that. "This is Nate, Nick's twin brother, but Nick's not here, so could he take this shot?" Give em a photo as proof, Nate takes the shot. Boom, free money, everybody goes home happy. It's weird that they didn't do that, but don't act like they screwed somebody out of their rightful shot by not doing so. You're an adult, dude--you should know as much as anybody that the idea of a kid getting that kind of money to himself, when he has a family who needs it, is pure fantasy. I mean come on, they're at a HOCKEY GAME. They're clearly not rich ;D The way you paint it, it's like the dad was on some Esau and Jacob type scheme where he preferred Nate over Nick and tried to make sure the money landed in Nate's lap. Potentially serious situation? Yeah...I'd like to see the people who'd try to confront the family over the kid's twin brother subbing in for him when the kid wasn't there. Even the sleaziest lawyer in the world wouldn't try to build a case off of something THAT minor. If he tried, he'd be shot down faster than Leisure Suit Larry at a lesbian bar.

That all depends on how the rules for the event are laid out No. I am just trying to figure out why the dad is an idiot for giving back money that wasn't honestly earned, but it is expected that the one brother share the money with the other brother, a brother that didn't do anything to earn it. Are you saying that is impossible that the truth gets out, word spreads as a sort of a joke, and then word gets back around to the company in charge of the event? Then, said company does their own investigation and finds out the truth of the deception? Maybe the company lets it go, maybe they don't and press charges/files suit. Is that a kind of risk you would be willing to take?

No. I am just trying to figure out why the dad is an idiot for giving back money that wasn't honestly earned, but it is expected that the one brother share the money with the other brother, a brother that didn't do anything to earn it. Personally I don't think he's stupid for giving it back--I think he's just a do-gooder. I've been cursed with that kind of affliction...of course in my case, it's always led to nothing but trouble (LOL) By the same token, I also don't think it would have been wrong if they DID keep the money. Nah...I don't really see that happening. I think there's way too much for a company to worry about without bringing up something this trivial. I mean, can you imagine somebody saying "We gave the money to the wrong identical twin brother." In full seriousness? If the guys were grown, living on their own, then I could see the legal issues. They're kids, though--under the same roof.

1) They're kids man. He was probably just excited to be shooting the puck in front of a huge audience. 2) It wasn't like these kids were maliciously lying to get one over. They were just kids being kids. "Hey man - I'm out of here, take my shot if they pick me." "Okay - later bro." Kids are kids, but that doesn't make this any less dishonest. It makes it less malicious - which is the part that really counts. Everyone lies. Everyone is dishonest - its not about 100% honesty, its about to what ends you are dishonest. Life isn't so black and white. You know - it just occurs to me that none of us really know the rules of the contest, so honestly - there's no way to really say if they violated the rules.

I mean, raffles are pretty basic, you buy a ticket, put a name on it, they call your name/number and you get a prize (or a shot at the prize in this case). Depending on the prize, you may or may not have to be present to win, but in this case it'd be really safe to assume that if the winner wasn't present, they'd call someone else's name. If there was no possibility that they broke the rules, I don't think this would even be a story.

Wow, some of you are better people than me.
I wouldn't feel bad about winning $50,000 like that. Not at all.

Raffles are pretty basic, but again - we don't really know if substitions are allowed - I'm just saying. Anyway - there really isn't a story if you ask me as nothing as really happened yet. They still have the money and the dad was just being overly forthright. Plus - there are tons of 'news stories' in the legit media that aren't really news so . . .

That's all I'm saying here. Dad: "Yeah, I feel like I have to get this off my chest, when you called my son's name, his twin brother actually took the shot." Organizer: "Don't worry about it, we allow substitutions." Dad: "Oh? Cool, thanks for the cash again!" *click*

Over population is a serious problem, although I don't know how that applies here. 2. Stacks of what? What homie? 3. What is he holding down? Would it be considered dishonest if his twin brother were holding down with what he was charged with the holding down of? *head explodes* And I didn't say I'd give anything back to prove a point. I'd do it to not feel like shit about myself.

The dad called the arena or something and they need to confirm with the insurance company what's going to happen next so, yeah - nothing has actually happened yet. But what you're telling me is that you believe the news media would never take a nothing story and blow it out of proportion?
