I have one question to ask. Why? Just why? Two answers: Orton sucks ass. Just the right thing to do. Orton is a good worker who has been involved in plenty of great matches throughout his career. I can't say the same thing about Mark Henry, who is as slow and boring in the ring now as he always has been.

He was called Resthold Randy for a reason. Big and plodding as Henry may be, at least he has decent cardio. Not to mention Orton is the only guy I know who injured himself during a f***ing TAUNT. But the main reasons why Orton sucks are: he's got no personality. he can barely put words together.

Every single Orton vs. Christian match was better than any match Henry has ever had. And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Orton's body of work.
Hell, Henry vs. Orton was one of the best matches Henry has had in a long time, do you really think it's just chance that he has one of his better matches while working with Orton?

PS. And it's easy to look like you have a lot of cardio when you aren't doing a whole lot of running in the ring.

Even if he drops it in two weeks, I'm ecstatic for the dude. I also loved him keeping his heel heat post match. Ditto on both accounts. Even if it's a short term bridge to something else, it had to end that way. He had to massacre Orton and destroy him cleanly. He did it even more cleanly than I thought he would. Super impressive, as was his insane crowd pop when he won. That caught me off guard. People do love a good story when you give them one.

I will agree that it was the proper booking move, when looking at the buildup.
It's just a shameful thing they didn't give this push to someone like Sheamus instead.

I have absolutely no problem with Orton as a worker. I think he's very good. If we're ranking in ring story tellers in the company, I put him top 5 with guys like Punk and Cena. It's just that his character is so bad, and I find his booking to be so dreadfully boring. I was ready for someone new. Smackdown has bored me to death since the draft. This needed to happen.

Oh, you're gonna be one of those people who will respond to any answer with "he was carried" because you don't like him. Sure dude, his entire body of work involves him just being carried by everyone, and has nothing to do with his own ability to work his half of the match skillfully. You keep telling yourself that. I hate to break it to you, but it takes two to have a great match.

I don't think anyone can really deny Orton's ring skills at this point. He's had a hell of a year.
He just needs to lose every once in while.

Give me one match where he's gone above and beyond his opponent's skill set to put on a good match. If you think it's just because I don't like him, then give me a match.

WWE just sucks at booking top faces in general. Orton, Cena, and Rey are all good workers but they all have become stale and annoying because of the way they're booked and the way their opponents are booked.

Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry - Night of Champions 2011 Far better than most Henry matches.

Not saying you have to like the guy, but to say he's the most boring wrestler and has no personality is a bit of an exaggeration. There's no way he could have managed to get this over if that were true.

People seem to confuse "I don't like his characer" with "he has no personality".
Because Orton's character oozes from every pore. His movements, his mannerisms, his facial expressions, the way he talks, the way he wrestles...they all communicate his character in fantastic ways. He has plenty of personality. It's just not a very bombastic personality.

I guess not. ~~~ Seriously, though, whether Orton or Henry are "good" is an opinion area with no real winner. Sure, there can be a majority opinion, but that still doesn't "prove" that the person in question is good. The next day, and I'm still happy to see Henry with the belt and look forward to seeing who can dethrone him (and hoping in the end it's Sheamus).

So, Orton carried Henry? I would say it's more of the storyline that carried the match. It wouldn't have been nearly as good if it weren't for the great booking that led up to it.

Yet the man is the most over superstar on Smackdown A brand that gets very little viewership. Not to mention, the guy second to him on the babyface totem pole, Sheamus, is only in his second year. So let's recap. Orton, a 9 year veteran, endorsed by Triple H himself, has managed to stay over on a second-rate show where his only competition for heat consists of midcarders and newbs. Impressive.
